TRICKY!!!
a)one of the above b) none of the above c)some of the above d) some but not all
this professor is horrible. Run away as far as you can.
he's funny..but his tests are hard..no clue of what he's trying to ask/say

Talks about new technology but uses a Commodore 64. Cries poor all the time!

Never answers your questions...narrow minded and his essays are disgusting !
this guy is a serious one

can't stand his essay. Really reaching in his topics.
Conceptually Wacky and Vague. but you love money, don't ya! ..so put up with it
Confuses himself and in the process everyone else

boring classes... no point in going
his lectures are really interesting, hes like a comedian, greta guy
"that s what its talking about" but i dont know what he is talking about
Clear, but outdated. Although under impression that he is on top of the recent industry trends, his interpretation is 1960s. I could get all the same quality information on the net and be spared his original but often pointless interpretation.
This course is great! Take it, very interesting!
he's a hard prof... but is very lenient on marks.. dunno how hard can he get next. I dropped htt303 cause he was teaching it.. soo.. he's overall DIFFICULT.. and if ur asking for free marks.. he's definatelynot the one to ask!!! so don't waste ur time.
You have to listen to him very carefully in his class (preferbly not skipping any). His midterms are very difficult, but exams are 'better'.

he thinks what he talked about is so interesting...
I like Hunter. I wish he taught more 3rd and 4th year classes.
NOW DO I HAVE AN IDEA FOR YOU! DO YOU LIKE TO MAKE MONEY? - yeah I THOUGHT SO! NOW YOUR THINKING LIKE A BUSINESS WOMAN! Hillarious...if youre ever looking for a good deal... he's your man!
A bigger blathering moron, Ryerson has not seen. Not competent enough to teach kindergarten.
Good teacher. He tries to make the class fun...Donald trump is a big topic. If you atend all of the clases and do all the readings than you will do well in the cource. Nice guy, talk to him outside of class.
Hands down, the best prof thus far in University. I'm really not that interested in the core of the course, but his applications make it worthwhile. I really do regret missing any of his classes. Also, I love how he incorporates "The Donald" and his wife's business experience into the lectures =)
Exam and Midterm HARD HARD HARD
Good Teacher, Really Challenges You
he talks way to fast.. his lectures were very interesting at first...now..not at all
he doesnt give us powerpoints to download, n he talks too fast, the things he talks about r not n the overhead, u have to listenn opy at the same time, but he moves on so fast, then it is impossible for u to copy everything down, come on, y is he in such a hurry in his lectures? can he give us powerpoints to download to make our life easier?
had him last year, don't get shocked if you fail
cant believe this guy
He try to make the class fun but you really have to go to every single class and copy every word he said and read everything to do well in the class. His midterms are hard but the exams are a little bit easier.
SO? IT DEPENDS? are the questions he always ask. Very Very Very Very hard marker. It sux we have no other professors teaching this courses.
he's is a challenge....not one of those teacher you can butter him up and pass the course...he is a very hard marker....it's very hard to get a A's or B's in his class....but at the same time he usually bell curve.....he's funny at times and very nice teacher!
terrible grammar, introduces new concepts and vocabulary on final exams, makes inappropriate jokes, marks illogically (not to be confused with hard!), technologically challenged, teaches with articles over 10 years old
tried so hard to make his jokes funny but he cant, boring classes, never explain stuff much cuz he has so much to teach, i dunno where he got those concepts becuz they r frinkin hard, hard marking, not generous at all, jokes around and smiles at u but never believe he is nice cuz when u see ur marks u'll hate him
I agree with what everyone says below. In addition, he seems like a friendly guy while teaching. However if you go see him during office hours to ask for help, he completely changes his attitude. Rude, unhelpful, doesn't car for his students. I'm glad I'm not taking gaming from him, rather taking it over the summer.
does not help when seeking assistance, tests are too hard
definitely not a good prof.. 2 faces.. act nice during class, *u know what* after class. midterm/final incredibly hard. answers are all subjective. and his essay.. the questions are so unclear.. the worst teacher i ever met.. how did he get hired?
no official text book, no blackboard. teaching with 10 years old articles. school is about thinking and understanding, in his class. its about suffering and memorizing. u gotta memorize so many acronyms from 300 articles. u gotta read all 300 articles in 12 weeks. if your only taking one course in the semester. MAYBE u'll get an B...
bad prof. no text book, expects you to memorize. picks on people in class. has way too many expectations for students. hard marker.
His lectures are always fun and interesting, his humor is appropriate. He teaches useful information. However, he is a hard marker. Many A students in our class got Cs, some even Ds for major written assignment.
Alright so, Mr. Hunter is THE man, he created this gaming course from nuthing, anyone who has anything bad to say about this class, should rethink being in the tourism industry, this was one of the most influential courses in Ryerson Business. The hardness of his classes is well worth it for the information learned. Keep it real Hunter!
One of the best profs i've ever had. Really passionate about his courses, it's a pleasure to learn from somebody who knows so much. It might be difficult for some people who are not used to working on their own (no textbook, you're expected to do your research). Really worth it if you are interested in the subject.
Worse Teacher Ever! if I could fire one teacher from the whole school, it would be him. He is nice but a complete idiot. Do not seat in front row, he will pick on you and expects you to agree with him. He is really hard marker and his exams make no sense, do not even bother studying it will not include anything from his lecture or the book.
tests/quizzes/assignments does not reflect what you learned in the course. unfair marker, does not give constructive feedback on marking assignments. unclear expectations and format of assignment.
A great professor! You will never fall asleep on his lectures, he makes even the most boring material interesting. He is very helpful and you can learn a lot from his lectures. I wish more professors would conduct their classes like he does.
I am a Hospitality Manager and just took his course. 95% of what he says is bang-on and applicable to the "real world". There are a lot of readings, but you memorize only the key points... and he tells you what to look for! If you want an easy "A", go back to high school. This is a course where you must earn your mark. 202 is insightful but hard.
Amazing professor. Lectures are organized and enthusiastic, though the material may be a little mundane. He does not have powerpoints or use Blackboard, so attendance is mandatory if you want the notes. His grading of the essay is firm, but fair. The tests are moderately puzzling, but take good notes and read the articles and you will do fine.
PROFESSOR Hunter is a very good lecturer...very interesting, always entertaining. He is COMPLETELY full of himself, but has a reason to be. Don't expect him to tell you how to do assignments. He expects his students to figure things out for themselves. Its a good learning experience.
worse prof...not helpful. when asked for help he told me it was too late. I've been trying to avoid any of his classes since.
tough course, but he makes it interesting. take good, detailed notes and go to all classes! not an easy marker, but generally fair.
By all means, hes not an easy teacher. He requires students to figure things out for themselves which is beneficial because he teaches the classes in real life terms, which is good. You have to attend class or you're screwed !! Very interesting class, you can definitely learn alot from him . Attend class and i can guarantee you'll pass.
He is tough in terms of marking but he's funny and makes class interesting with his stories. You MUST attend classes because he doesnt use Blackboard. His assignments are unclear but he does it on purpose. He wants his students to go see him in his office and ask questions to clarify. It's a must don't try to figure it out yourself or you will fail
Prof Hunter was the best professor I ever had! Sure he's tough, but his classes are really interesting and you can learn much from him! Just make sure you do the readings and attend all classes...you can miss a lot by not completing your readings or bailing on class. If you're on top of everything though, you won't have a problem passing his class!
hard marker
"oh man, have i got a story for you" .. this man is brilliant. the key to success is really listening to the lectures and dedicating a solid amount of time to reading your articles. his exams are university level, there is no one word multiple choice non-sense. get ready to learn a thing or twenty.. you will walk out a changed person.
Nice and funny professor, but really hard marker. Make sure to start early with reading the Reader. Good idea to make it a group project...split up the articles and write detailed summaries on them. Go to all the classes, nothing on Powerpoint. Ask him for help with the project, and make sure you write it down his suggestions in front of him. STUDY
No Powerpoints. No Blackboard.Make sure you go to class to get his notes!!
He is confusing... must attend his class... get pointers on projects from him otherwise you won't get a good mark! his jokes are not that funny... kinda weird actually...
brilliant; opens your mind to a whole world of possibility. it's essential to be present & on top of your readings. anyone with a negative experience is simply not "thinking like a business (wo)man on a wednesday night"..
There is no doubt that Hunter is a smart man and that he has plenty of insight. The problem is that he is the most unhelpful professor I've ever had. He refuses to answer any question than I or any other student has asked him one on one. In the class, he's all nice and cheery. When you get one on one, he's just plain rude! Very two-faced.
Although his test format is a bit odd (multiple choice testing your knowledge of actual concepts), the course itself is very easy as long as you read everything and understand basic concepts. I walked out of that course feeling extremely inspired by the businesses opportunities he'd mentioned. I am taking another of his courses next semester!
Hunter is a hard marker, hard teacher, and doesn't give any guidance for essay writing. his teaching methods conssist of us listenign to him lecture for 2 hours writing our own notes. if you go to him for help on the essay he will just repeat the essay question.
he teaches like hes got tenure....which he has...old out of date projection slides... he cant explain anything in a simple concise manner...he wants to appear smarter than he actually is by not explaining things properly
Best professor ever! Can keep my attention span throughout the full 3hour lectures!! May not be an easy marker and tests aren't always easy. Make sure to do the readings and attend all classes in order to get a decent grade.
"I wakeup every morning excited to go to work" this prof is amazing because he is so passionate about what he teaches he puts in so much effort and is always well prepared for class! Yes he is very hard but I'd rather learn a lot and get a bad mark from an amazing prof than learn nothing at all! I got a B- in HTT303 and an A in HTR741.
I used to have Hunter back in 2002 and 2003. After reading some of the comments i have to say they are bang on. Hard marker, strongly opinionated and his favorite topics were A)The Apprentice and "the Donald" with his trademark phrase"your fired" B) Bang & Olufsen and how great they are followed by his trademark phrase" you get what's you pay for"
Read the course reader and take good notes in class to get a higher grade. Don't really have to memorize just understand the concept. Trick to MCs avoid 90% of the time all the "some but not all" questions.
make sure to attend every class since hes not giving out notes :(
This man is brilliant! I haven't taken a course at RU since 2009, but I still remember everything Hunter taught me! Yes, the courses he teaches are challenging. But, he teaches you how to use your brain and to think about what's really going on in the world of Hospitality & Tourism. Attend class, listen, take notes and do workbook summaries..
Very interesting class & loved his teaching method. Hard essay marker and exams can be tricky BUT if you attend every class, make good notes & read the book you will do well! Not a difficult class to get an A in. GO TO CLASS! he doesn't provide anything online.
Great person. Kind of old School. You have to attend class to make notes from his lectures. "D.Some or all of the above is true" MIND BLOWN Make sure you know your stuff for his test because almost every question includes D.!
Attend class. He is not too great with technology so nothing is on Blackboard, check your emails. I find his tests quite fair, just read the reader and read the question making deductions always works best for his tests. Nice person, try having a conversation. He talks about application of your knowledge in the real world.
Doesn't use blackboard so you have to go to class to get any notes. All his lectures are straight from articles that are completely outdated. Has a clear view of what he wants the assignments to be about but will not help you out when you ask. The textbook is hundreds of articles bound together.
The worst thing about this professor is that he gets in your face and it's incredibly rude. He also tries to interact with EVERY SINGLE STUDENT, and some students were not fond of that approach. No Blackboard, and uses over head projector. On a positive note, whatever notes you take is what you should study. Do not recommend.
Proff Michael Hunter is probably one of my favorite HTM proff's! He is difficult to get used to at first since he doesn't use technology at all but once you adjust to the change you are set. Know the readings for test and beware of some of the above but not all of the above questions.
He's too old-school. He does try to give students a realistic picture of the sad hosp industry though. Also, he picks on people a lot- I have social anxiety and I skipped his classes because he made me uneasy, which resulted in me not getting his stupid notes and consequently not doing as well as I should have
Although his lectures, notes, tests, and emails are a lot like decoding a cipher, he is a very inspiring speaker. It's tough getting a good grade, his instructions are unclear, but all technical school stuff aside he is very interesting to listen to.
Terrible with technology so you have to attend class to get notes because he does not post them or use powerpoints. Emails are so hard to decode. Amazing speaker Easy marker for papers His midterms and exams are terrible, they are very specific to detail of the material. Midterm and finals is basically 70% reader and 30% notes.
No textbook. If you prefer take notes, you should go for that class. Skip his class, make your life easier.
He's actually not as bad as I expected. He talks a lot about Trump. He doesn't post anything on D2L so you have to go to class to take notes. His textbook is a reader with a compilation of articles from various years, no joke one of the articles was dated in the 90's. Pick your group members wisely, the group essay is a grade booster.
This professor really irked me. He preaches about innovation and yet he still uses an overhead to teach. He NEVER posts on D2L (go to class for your notes), is VERY up in your face in lectures, when he asks a question and you don't know the answer he will make you feel stupid, and is too picky about projects.
Attendance is mandatory and his exams can be very difficult. However, I found him to be a great prof. He would come to the lectures with the mindset of equipping us with the life skills needed in order to succeed. He has a strong emphasis on participation and although unnerving at first, it really does improve your speaking skills and confidence.
I do not recommend taking any class taught by this professor. Not only does he still use an over head projector but he also does not update marks (until the final week of school), does not give our rubrics not assignment sheets and does not upload ANY content onto D2L. He is up close and makes you feel stupid in class as well. Set up for failure!
this prof is hilarious. he loves what he is teaching and it shows. although he still uses overhead and notes from 2005 he means well. his midterm is difficult but essay allows you to make up marks. take this course if you want an engaging prof
AVOID not a Bird course . The prof is good and knowledgeable but we have to read 40 article for midterm and 40 article after midterm. Midterm was hard . In final exam , 90% of the exam was based on Rama trip . 10 % came from the course reader. Plus you have to make class notes since he dont Use PowerPoint. 35% for midterm, 30% essay 35% final.
Although his lectures are very engaging get ready to write down everything he says. Cause this guy will put random sh*t on his tests. You will need to know very little detail from the lectures, the notes, the field trip and the textbook (which he made so you'll have to buy it).
Doesn't post any lectures slides online, therefore class attendance is mandatory. Lectures are heavy and unnecessarily highly detailed. The textbook and field trip are mandatory because midterm and exam are heavily focused on those. Essays are not marked by him but by his TA's (they're difficult markers). Would not recommend this class.
Amazing, enthusiastic, old-school professor. He outlines most of the information specifically in class that will be on the midterm and final. The multiple choice correct answers are RARELY ones that go something like "a or b", "all but not c" "none of the above" it is mostly always one of the top answers that is a legitimate concept.
