This guy is great..puts in the time and effort and is very brilliant
Makes it easy but is fast greek with his interpretations...
Don't stress about his lectures no one understands them/Make detailed st. guide
confusing mess of a lecture, nice hat

nice guy, knows his stuff, not boring/hard to understand if youre a good student
brilliant, fine lecturer, never boring, extremely helpful, generous, a gentleman

wonderful guy
hot, nice guy...great lecturees and fair amount of work. Work is demanding but serious students won't have a problem. oh yah great legs!

His class is great, he's funny, he draws pictures (my favorite is the Hoplite Phalanx), he knows what he is talking about. Sometimes it takes him 45 minutes to get to the main point, but its all good. His tests aren't bad unless you can't do maps.
ya know....i didn't find him attractive or his lectures....difficult to understand...and even more difficult to keep your eyes open listening to him drone on...Very bright guy, but too intense with the lectures
He's a smart man, but if you need someone to keep you awake start running now. Very boring, however he tweeks the final exams to the advantage of the student which is pretty cool. It takes him a looong time to get papers back too. He's brilliant!
He might be smart but thats all he got going for him.. tough class with a lot of notes/lecture talk.. the good news is that if your a chick you will do better...
Very smart, nice guy. Not easy, but if you put in the effort you will do fine. My only complaint is that he takes forever to get papers back. Other than that, he's a good prof. Those that don't like him are babies.
Really good teacher..definitley knows his stuff. Tests are easy IF you study :) He's big on maps, so be sure to study those a lot! He's a great teacher for people who may not be that interested in the topic, but need to take it for a GER.
Seriously, the most interesting, fun class ever, and Ieradi is funny ****.
smart guy...not exactly an easy class but also not a hard one if you STUDY. def. not for a slacker but a history buff would love this guy.
A little boring at time, if he hasn't finished teaching the chapter, he gives the test anyways. Lectures are way too much.

DON"T TAKE HIM
He lectures! Thats not a bad thing, unless you're like me, and sleep easily! He obviously knows his stuff, and is brilliant in his field, but he has a hard time incorporating class participation, and returning tests on time!;(iliketheclass!
Not much work until it comes to tests! Then he might lose them, and not give them back to you. He's a little bit weird, but a good teacher. However, he does give tests on chapters not gone over. So good luck! You better like to read!!
Ireardi is respectful he is VERY helpful. Those people who dont like him are slackers and dont like to work. As far as being a girl and passing for that reason that is VERY UNTRUE and not a very good insinuation to make about a professor with a good rep
A little on the boring side and the tests are a quite a challenge (tons of memorization, but I guess that's history for ya). A little dorky, but a nice guy.
He uses the same two transitional phrases over again, "by contrast" "that is to say". Take him if you like to be bored and waste your time on maps, memorizing places that do not exist anymore.
my least fav professor, not much of a people person, he's intelligent but "by contrast" he doesn't know how to teach very well, not many opportunities to get grades, gives pointless maps, verrrrrrrryyyyyyyy boring, i sat in the front and still f
dont teach anymore
What a bunch of wimps! You're missin' the boat with this one, he's a good teacher, you need to better students.
A very hard teacher who concentrates on maps and specific dates and places of events. You will definitely fall asleep during his lectures.
best teacher in the world. lots of stuff to comprehend but very easy and he is very helpful. answers email promptly. pretty much the best teacher in the world! i loved his class. gave me a B+.
Best teacher in the world, lecturing isnt bad. relates so much together...hes genious! He may be a little challenging, those who dont like him are bad students. Ive had a lot of teachers hes best by far! Take his class!
Standard fare for a history class. Not too hard, not too easy. His lectures are usually pretty good. Sometimes it's hard to stay awake, but if you pay attention, then you'll be fine.
one of the best teachers i've ever had at BSC. Def take this class, if you like history hes the guy to take.
not as bad as people say at all...i don't know what everyone's complaining for...history IS dates and places so it's to be expected...History is history but he is a great guy to have teach it to you
good class lectures the hole time hard to concentrate just stands there and talks.
His lectures are extremely boring but worth listening to. He grades tests fairly and will do anything for a student that he thinks is trying to do well in the class.
good guy. is willing to help students if you don't understand something. downside: lectures the entire time and it can get tiring.
Very very helpful! Awesome teacher, he definately will help you with anything. concentrates on maps during test, but they aren't hard. definately need to study but not extensively. good sense of humor. his lectures are generally interesting and important. i definately recommend him to anyone!
If you cant stay awake in class dont take him!! You'll pass out because he is so boring. His lectures are sooo confusing and you never know what to write down! His tests are ridiculous unless you take 50 pages of notes per lecture! Not recommended!!!
The man is absolutely brilliant. He really knows his stuff and if you are serious about having a complete understanding of the subject at hand then Mike is a must take. Do the work and the readings, participate in the class and you will do wonderful. Great at helping people understand if you ASK.
It is a history class, so expect lecture. He does have a great sence of humor and the lectures are almost intresting. Willing to work with you if you are having trouble. very brilliant and knows his stuff- he did go to yale!! highly recommended.
I thought this was a VERY interesting class. He is really helpful and he's a riot if you have a dorky sense of humor. One word of warning though... If you usually just pay attention in class, don't study for tests, and still do well... that's not going to work in this class. Tests are hard.
Really challenging, but interesting. You really have to do the reading before the class time to follow lectures, but it's worth the work. Not interested in subject before, but am now.
hot, hot, hot.....
Very fair guy, will help you if you are in trouble, no attendance policy, if you want a good grade you HAVE to study!
worst class ever... he's a smart guy and willing to help you.. but he blabbles on forever.. i am listening to him right now actually.. i can't follow him and i hate history so that doesn't help. tests are very hard; lots of memorization of terms and maps. no homework or attendace policy. also, his handwriting on the board is horrible. don't do it.
he is wicked smart...and assumes his students are as smart as him. which is good but he rambles all the time..and none of it make sense! he is nice and helpful but the class is impossable
Class sucks. He believes that every student enjoys memorizing 100-200 pages of text to memory as well as 50 items on a map. Tests are very hard and his lectures do not help you at all. He usually talks about the text from a week ago and tries to be a comedian. Not recommended for lazy students and especially those who do not like to read alot!!!!!!
He makes absolutely no sense. He is very smart and knows what he is talking about, but he is the school historian and expects yo to know everything he does. His tests are really hard. Believe me, dont take this class
His tests are impossible and i hardly ever go to class because I can't focus on any of the material anyway. However he's a really nice guy, very funny, and will answer any question you have. I hate the material, but love the professor!
He has probably been the best teacher I ever had in my entire life. When taking this class you must understand that he will challenge you. You may be expected to work harder than you ever did before. However, in the end it was well worth it. I will never forget this man and advise you to take him as well.
Hes smart but needs to realize that we are not all historians....30 point scale on tests bc almost every one fails...does that tell u something....dont take this class u need to buy like 5 books
its history..plain and simple, its gonna suck. but hes hottt.
this guy is GREAT, i love his teaching style, hes very conversational and funny. hes totally understanding to any problems you had and if you just listen in class you barely have to study except for maps. highly reccomended!
HOT? What's up with that?
This is a tough class, but it's manageable. His tests are hard, but everything is from the review sheets. The maps are a small part of the test. There are 4 books, a main text, Gilgamesh (I didn't read it), and two plays. I got an A-, and he does scale the grades. You do have to read the book, and plan on studying for several hours.
Seriously the smartest man I've ever met in my life. Class requires alot of attention but if you like history you'll love it. Has a really dry sense of humor but is funny. Also scales grades so he gives you every chance to pass & makes himself available for extra help.
Ancient Rome. information isnt that exciting but he is extremely smart and keeps you pretty interested. pretty funny, very disorganized, we never got our paper back from the middle of the semester. other than that really good class, maps a part of midterm and final to boost scores, no scaling, but if you pay attention/study you're good.
Smart Smart Man. Absolutely Brilliant. Also kind and conscientious, willing to go the extra mile for his students this guy wants you to succeed. Fair grader, considering the complexity and difficulty of much of the material that is being covered in class.
A brilliant guy, lectures are amazingly in-depth but clear and if you pay attention not too hard. he's also really funny, in a different kinda way. I couldn't help having a *big* crush on him. He was so smart and traveled around the world, and cares how you do, just ask for help if you need it, will explain stuff.
terrible teacher. all he does is talk the entire time and none of it makes sense. all he does is write random stuff on the bored and then draw millions of lines and circles around everything trying to prove his point. his lectures do not corespond with his tests like he claims they do. do w/e you can to avoid this class
ussually helpful. but can be an arrogant jerk.
Although his class is very difficult he is a very nice guy!!! His lectures can be very boring but the material isn't the most exciting material to learn. Unless you are willing to work very hard in this class don't take this professor.
he is an alright guy but this class is so hard its almost unreal. his tests and quizes are impossible and never mind the final, thing was so much studying for nothing at all, you have to memorize so much stuff and then you dont even use it on the final it sucks. hes a good guy but the work load is unreal, dont take this class unless you have to.
dont take this class unless your ready to work!, his grade is based on tests (including the midterm and final) and a paper. this was the hardest class i have taken so far. Brilliant guy, and willing to help
I had Dr. Ierardi for Rise of Christianity. I was very excited prior to taking the course, due to the content. Boy, that changed pretty quick. I dreaded EVERY min. in his class. Thank God he's on sabbatical next year so none of you will have to suffer through his BORING and incomprehensible lectures. I feel like I wasted 16 weeks of my time.
He definetly knows his stuff, but he is extremely fast. He explains everything in class and assigns tons of reading in the book. His tests are hard because most of his lectures have nothing to do with his tests. Read the book, go to class, listen very carefully and ask lots of questions and you might be okay.
I'm taking his Roman history class right now. He is very knowledgeable and clearly is passionate about this subject. I'm learning a lot about this fascinating subject. Ierardi and Lewinstein are the two best professors at BSC's underated history department.Though this course can be tedious.
he is to hard for me takes your chances. i get bs easy in every other class but with this guys final exam i cant see myself passing. if students graded professors if give him an f. cannot understand his lectures, he is useless but very intelligent. he talks he doesnt teach
Completeyly disorgnaized. Never gets papers back. Monotonous and boring lectures. Late to class and disheveled. Yale snob but stuck at a C-Rate school and is resentful. Favors girls.
WORST WORST WORST CLASS. the tests are so rediculous and hard. dont waste your time, take another professor if you are going to take western civ
LOVESSSS history and knows what he is talking about! But his lectures are very boring, the readings also help a LOT with the tests.
The man loves history.. but is very disorganized! Never passed back our midterms, and decided to redo an assignment, luckily it was better than the first but gave hardly any time. Tests are based on reading and you have to be prepared for his tests and know what you're talking about. And be able to write any 20 or so essays he gives you to write!
very boring, talks the whole time about one little thing, i fell asleep in the class almost every time. he is very smart and funny just very disorganized lecture, hard to relate to a genius
I'm a 21 year old male and he made me walk out of his office hours crying. It was horrible. Class average is a 60 and i never got anything higher than a 40 on exams. 10 page paper horrible with topics that you swear you never heard of. DO NOT TAKE
He does teach as if everyone is there for the History Major. VERY helpful and understanding. He knows what he's talking about and is very serious. Tests are a challenge by far but you learn so much. Take him if your SERIOUS, otherwise you'll hate it with a passion.
If you want a professor that's on the cutting edge of the field, Ierardi's your man. Shut up about how hard it is if you can't take a challenge. He puts the work in your court, expects you to do the reading, pay attention and participate. It's that hard; he knows his field better than most professors at BSC of any school, and will test you as such.
he is a Yale genius. he really is a very nice man, but i found his class hard. im an A/B student and got a C-. he lectures the entire time. try your hardest to pay attention, he throws in jokes. read your book! even tho i didnt do awesome, i still liked him. he will help you if asked, and is NOT intimidating when you ask questions!
This is by far the worst class I have ever taken at BSC. I loved history with O'Brien (great teacher)and I absolutely despised history with this guy. he talks THE ENTIRE time about so many different things. he never announces whats due but expects you to have read everything under the sun. definitely would never take again ... ever.
Nice, funny, brilliant but does not belong in teaching. He would be great in a research role but not in teaching. Worst prof I have had at Bridgewater. Too hard for an undergrad class. His class makes honors level classes seem like high school. Doubt anyone in my class will get above a C. This man just can't teach worth a damn, its a shame.
Very intelligent and knowledgeable. A world known expert on ancient coins. He knows his stuff but he expects you to read text book and not just pass by just showing up to class.
Took other history classes at BSC and got A's. This teacher just talks all class and even through the end of class sometimes. His tests are multiple choice but are extremely hard because he has you study alot of information only to ask you a couple nitty gritty things
I honestly don't know how this man is still a professor at Bridgwater State College. If those evaluations mean anything, he should have been fired. His lectures are unclear. He talks in circles. He is the type of person who enjoys the sound of his own voice. He gives grades like 89.5, just save yourself the pain and torture.
This man loves to listen to himself ramble on about his greek historian expertise. He will literally talk until someone asks him a question, which he will hardly answer, and then resume his rambling. He can be somewhat entertaining dependent on topic. He is a nice guy though and has reasonable expectations. Take him if youre willing to work hard.
STAY AWAY. Nice enough guy, but not worth the trouble
When this guy yook me in whne the class was full I though to myself THANK GOD!This man was ultimately useless. All he does is talk and everytime I try to take notes he says I don't need to write anything. So why does he put it up there? His lectures never relate to the test or the textbook and that document analysis was ridiculous!
Ierardi is the man. Literally if you go to class and listen to what he says its one of the most enjoyable classes I've ever taken. Its clear that most of the students at bridgewater aren't going anywhere, but if you take a class with Ierardi you will actually learn something about the ancient world most likely have a good time. The dudes hilarious
My only real complaint is that his notes are everywhere. No structure at all. I began writing down only the key terms and looking them up myself. Don't bother reading the books. 3 exams 1 paper.
Loves what he teaches and tries to make it as interesting as he can. Gives 4 tests including the midterm and final. Uses the info in the book alot so you definatley need to read for homework. Worst part is the way he does notes, makes it near impossible to write good notes
He assigns a lot of reading and he talks a lot, but he knows his stuff and is very responsive to students. If you like the material, you'll love taking a class with him. In my opinion, he's one of the best professors at Bridgewater.
I took his Latin Class. He knows what's going on, my only complaint was that there was no clear "raise hand" or "shout out policy", so i often didn't know whether or not to supply an answer, ooh, also, if you got a form wrong, rather than just correcting, he'd decline the whole damn thing over again. Otherwise, smart, funny, and generally engaging
Make no mistake, You will work in this class, but it's not work pilled on needlessly, there are select readings each night, and if you do most of them, you will be fine. Dr Ierardi has a mastery of both classes I've had him (Roman history and Greek History) and speaks very well. As long as you're willing to read, I highly recommend him.
Probably the worst, least organized, rude professors in the entire history department. DO NOT TAKE
This professor is so unorganized; we never got back our midterms or the grades for them, we never receive a paper assignment that was supposed to be worth 25% of our grade, never took reading quizzes that were 15% of our grade, and ended up with only two grades: midterm & final. He is rude & consistently late for class. Save yourself the trouble.
DO NOT TAKE. Didn't get our midterms back until the day of the final and it was the only graded assignment we had all semester so couldn't drop class. Shows up 5-10 minutes late every class. Never had other assignments that were supposed to count for 50% of our grade...didn't assign them.
He lectured about nothing that was useful. Required you to intensively read your text, but then give you a 15 random question test. The "domain" would just say anything in the chapter is fair game. He was unhelpful and quite sassy at points. There was always a map with 40 places to memorize, but he only put like ten on the test.I couldn't stand him
He was awful. He gave us a syllabus for what we would be learning but he changed it constantly. I basically taught myself out of my book. His voice is so monotonous and I could never pay attention. either half my class dropped or they stopped showing up. Do not take him
Worst class I've ever taken. I'm okay with heavy reading, but the texts were boring and near undecipherable. He's very rude to his students, and does not give your grades back until over a month later. Only take him if you absolutely have to. He honestly made me cry.
Never assigns any of the homework that is suppose to count for your grade and it would be really helpful to have to help with the midterm and final. Talks in circles whenever he is asked a question and doesn't answer emails. Consistently late to class and rude to students. I usually get A-'s in history courses but in this one I'm praying for aB- :(
DO NOT TAKE HIM. Absolutely awful.
Talks in circles about the long readings he assigns. confusing references, vocabulary, generally boring and monotone. worse course i've taken on the college level by a long shot.
This class is my second time taking Professor Ierardi, and I have enjoyed him both times. Is he the easiest professor on campus? No. Does he get side-tracked every class? Yes. But he really does make you think about the material that you're reading, and has an amazing snarky sense of humor. He's not for everyone, but you'll love him if you do.
lectures the whole class every class. very boring and dry criteria. overall nice guy, but class is very boring.
Just horrible. Don't take, seriously.
He is absolutely terrible. I ended up dropping out of this class cause I couldn't take it anymore. He just talks and talks and i learned nothing. The whole class was failing and he blamed it on us when it was really his teaching. Never ever take him, he is the worst ever.
Boring lectures, large ego, doesn't know how to teach should be working in a museum.
I only took this class for my major. This was the most boring class I have ever taken. All he does is talk the whole time and barely asks questions to his students. All we were graded on was a Midterm and Final and our Midterm grade was given to us the day of the Final! He changed the syllabus constantly and gave no reasons as to why.
Worst class that I have taken in my time here at BSU. He is knowledgeable but cannot teach if that makes sense. His lectures are unorganized and long. Tests had random questions not covered in his long lectures and the map questions are tough. My entire class is struggling and many either dropped or stopped showing. Do not take if you dont have to
He is very knowledgeable on the topic of but is hard to follow. No guides, no power point, no visuals, just him talking at you. You cant write fast enough and its hard to follow what you need to take from his lectures. Very few grades- midterm, research paper, and final. Mandatory attendance on a field trip to MFA. Would not take again.
Dr. Ierardi is easily the worst professor I have ever taken, and I am a junior. He graded us on 4 things. 1) Mid-term. 2) $50 trip to the MFA 3) 5-6 page paper 4) Final. It's currently the last week of classes & not one of us in this class has received a grade back, including our mid-terms which happened 2 months ago. He's a pompous ass. GOOD LUCK
Please, for the love of god, do not take this him unless absolutely necessary. Lectures at you. Graded by few things and did not get the grades back until the day of the final. Please do not take him he does not teach, he just talks at you and expects you to know what he has spent years learning.
Lecture, lecture, lecture and some more lectures. Like, seriously. He's a really nice guy if you try in the class and get good grades but you'll learn a good chunk of the material through the reading. Try your hardest to participate in class, if you don't he'll just get annoyed and end the lecture.
Stay clear of Dr. Ierardi. I had him for my Honor's Thesis and he stopped contacting me in the middle of my thesis writing. He also agreed to write me a recommendation letter for PhD programs and stopped contacting me there as well. He seems like a okay person, but his life outside school makes him extremely inconsistent.
A struggle. All he does is lecture, and he's not very good at it. He'll tell you you'll get your midterms back soon, but he's lying. You'll get them at the final. Left us in the dark about the final paper until the last min. Take notes and show up; on tests he cares more about historical processes discussed in class more than book facts. Good luck!
All he does is lecture. I would rather shoot myself in the foot than sit through another one of his classes. He's a very smart guy, but is terrible at engaging students. You won't have any homework other than readings that don't matter but the midterm and final are basically the only grades you can receive.
I have avoided my area 3 requirement like the plague. I left it for my final semester, terrible idea. Our final is tmrw and I l have no idea what my grade is because we have not gotten the two things he has graded us on. His lectures sound like an audio reading of a terribly boring Jstor article read by an incredibly boring man.
I cant stress this enough: dont take this class. He talks from the second class starts until about 4 minutes after it was supposed to end and seemingly never stops for air let alone clarification. Our final is tomorrow, no one knows how they did on the midterm, has only graded us on these two tests and an 8-10 page paper. Stay away from Ierardi.
I have been to every class, I do the readings. Yet, stuyding for his midterm is still extremely difficult. doesnt answer email, keeps class late EVERYDAY. does not use powerpoints at all which makes his lectures long and confusing. do not take this man unless you want to cry.
Avoid at all costs. When we had physical class he started 5 min early and ended 5 min late, expected you to memorize EVERYTHING for tests, very unclear with assignments and unorganized. While online he quite literally impossible to reach. Even more unclear and unorganized. This prof made me switch from being a hist major. Wish I warn you more...
DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR! It is near finals time and he has not graded a single thing we have done. I have no idea how I am doing in the class. . All his class is is him lecturing and he expects us to remember everything he says. He does not have his own computer so he is hard to get ahold of if you email him with a question. Avoid at all costs!
I've had this professor for 4 straight semesters. He is a good guy with a semi-casual approach to the subject matter. He is knowledgeable, funny and wants students to join in on the lecture. He will never tell you "you're wrong". All of his classes are about thinking and analyzing the information. Give a crap and you'll pass no problem!
If you fall asleep in class often he might not be for you, this class is 95% lecture. He's a nice guy and you can tell he loves what he does. He also has an extremely dry sense of humor. I was afraid I was failing his class and I hadn't turned papers in and he assured me that he has only failed 2 people in his 30yrs of teaching. A nice dude overall
A nice guy, terrible grader. Classes are 100% lecture and very dry and hard to focus on what is important especially for the midterm and final. Does not answer emails and takes forever to grade. Scaled up our midterm 3pts because it took him a month to get it back to us. Interesting subject matter but the class will make you fall asleep
I've had him for a lot of different classes. He's a nice guy and will try to help you succeed. If you put in effort and ask for help he will generally give it. His classes are lecture heavy so if you don't like that you might not like his classes. He can be funny at times and make good jokes. Can be hard to reach him through email though.
His class is mainly lecture, so... if you like lectures, great, and if you don't, maybe pick another. That said, he's a fair grader and his lessons are actually quite funny if you enjoy his dry sense of humor.
