thinks everyone is trying to cheat
I agree with the previous comment...
All over the place
Not very approachable, condescending
this guy is a space cadet, and whats with him taking the notes off the net
He turned a bird course into hell.
A very sweet man.
this guy sucks, not at all approachable or helpful
it is more likey i will learn more about human geo from a cerael box
Worst prof ever
Is super nice, but for whatever reason lectures did not seem to be very clear
I never went to his class... and somehow passed...funny comments above
I love human geography, but this guy ruins it all~
Watch out for this guy!
A little crazy but not too much!
Beware first years !!!!!
Went to 1/5th of human geography... managed to get an A+: Tip- Memorize Textbook

The worst prof ever. Have fun......
Way better in senior courses than GG100!
one of the best professors i have ever had!!
one thing last exam question: Why is it good to attend lectures?
beware 1st years ... he is tough on the final if you don't go to class
I thought he was pretty good and interesting, not nearly as bad as the rest say!
A huge 'prepardness' freak and has unorganized lectures but very helpful

Awesome guy, should only be teaching upper level courses, the 100s don't appriciate him.
Destroyed Geography for me. Should not be teaching first year students. Blah.
Good prof, those who dislike him are lazy and dont like to work. He just expects a lot from students, class is very easy if you're not stupid and lazy.
A decent teacher, but very condescending.
One of the worst professors I have had. He changes his assignments like every class, and speaks to the students in a condescending tone. He is very cocky and rude. I will never take a class that he is teaching again.
People who dislike him are the same ones who don't know their head from their ass. He teaches well and promotes interest in the subject. The last few lectures are important since he gives you everything you need for the final.

The guy is one of the best profs i've had, he just expects a lot out of students. But his lectures were always the one I would look forward to going to... they really stimulate your interest in the material. Anyone who didn't like him didn't go to class
Very busy course. Does not play games. Very clear on course expectations. Rewards the workers . Extremely personable in one-on-one situations. Comes off as a bit coarse in lectures, but one has to understand the pressure he is under.
Needed a punch in the face. Restraint was tough.
I put myself into a hypnotic state during this class and learned to sleep with my eyes open. This guy is not only boring, he's rude.
I don't know which is scarier: his teaching style or his clothes. He should give up teaching and star in "I Know What You Did Last Semester".

Needs to take a course in manners. Course was boring & he was very rude. Whoever hired this guy should have their head examined. I check to see who's teaching other Geog courses to make sure I don't get this idiot again.
In one word: terrible.
Soooooo dull, for someone who lacks personality he seems to think he is really important

I LOVE THIS MAN!! the second term of geography was so much more interesting. Course and Labs were interesting material.
the other feedback doesn't lie
Hey guess what Imort, geography isn't the only course in the world. Oh yeah, we have to read before the lecutres so well understand? I still don't understand you when I do with your stupid accent...
Good teacher, I leaned alot. But too anal about little things like labs and readings and details....I'll give him another try in another one of his courses...
Learned to hypnotise myself in this class so I could get some sleep. This guy is rude, boring, arrogant and should be a warden in a prison, not a professor teaching students.
Yikes! He reminds me of Professor Snape in the Harry Potter movies. Didn't learn much in this class except to avoid this guy like the plague.
He's afraid of getting personal with his students, he was unapproachable and generally kept his distance. I wonder why he chose teaching over research? He's very intelligent but gets hung up on disciplining the class. But I admire his elegance.
Amazing professor if you are willing to learn! Has high expectations but is totally there to help you with anything you need.
The best prof ever! I can not wait to take another of his classes! He makes the classes intresting and engaging!
Um, what's that word....BOOOORING. Lighten up a bit...so I don't know MLA, or Harvard documentation.. Get a life!
Absolutely awful. Has totally turned me off Geography. Imort you are a ****bag.

blah blah blah
If you didnt like him in GG 100, try GG 298, it will change your outlook. Very good prof.
Imort comes off very self-concerning and unapproachable, although if you actually talk to him he will be insightful. He was a great teacher and had a valuable message to impart. Overall a very engaging class.
boring class, pompass teacher... he is always yelling at students when he should be teaching... drove me nuts to wake up for this guys class
This is the most boring class i have ever sat through. i will never take geography ever again. The exams are killer i thought i was going to go blind after the 200 multiple choice and true/false Q's. just don't do it.
I used to love geography. Thanks for ruining it.
I feel bad for leaving a bad rating. I'll try to be objective. Ok, truthfully I hated this course. I hated the material, the lectures, and the labs. I hated the exam.
He is soo interesting and passionate about the subject. I love him and his lectures... even though his tests are very hard
Amazing lectures. He is passionate, refreshing, and fun. I hope to have him in the future.
One of the best profs Ive had and Ive taken 3 classes with him including 1st year and a seminar. He gives incredible constructive criticism and hes definitly improved my writing and presenting skills.Very intelligent and experienced prof who really cares about his students and Laurier
Very engaging prof! He opened a whole new can of geography worms and made my final year at Laurier in the Geography worth while.
Overall a good prof, but one thing that bugs me are clicker marks. He never used them before this semester & now he uses clicker questions that are worth too much of the final grade (20%). I missed 7 questions in one class because someone accidentally took my clicker & now I virtually no way of recovering from the blow. He's not very understanding.
X_x wish he was more understanding and that the exams were not based on a system of, if you don't pass it you fail the course. The exam is only worth 20% but if you don't pass it you fail? Do not take this course if you do well In labs and everything else but choke on exams, because his exams are too detailed.
He was a very hard prof to follow as he rambled about unnecessary information and never referred to the textbook. His clicker questions were ridiculous and he found it hilarious that majority of the class failed them. Frustrating class to attend, that's for sure.
All I remember is Nauru
He really gets you engaged in the course material and has a lot of person experience from all around the world. He is an amazing prof. Enjoy.
Decent prof but if you don't have to take Geography don't take it. It's extremely boring and there are definitely better courses to take as bird courses. Average for his midterm was a 60.
Found him really boring and hard to follow. The class is overall easy if you keep up with the work. Got above a 90 on basically every assignment that he did not mark. He marks part of the midterm and I did very poorly on that.
do not like his slideshows/form of teaching. He is very hard to follow and all over the place while giving information i do not know what is relevant and not. dont like how you must pass the final to pass the course even though the exams not worth much and found him along with the course material very boring. Also dont like the textbook, so long
Should attend class because the exam was mainly stuff taught during the lectures, the midterm was online and quite difficult, hard to keep up when taking notes
Honestly I think he is really nice. Good Prof! Trying his best to do every explaination.
He does feedback during the class to make sure every student know what they are doin. great prof!
One of my favourite prof's from first year. Midterm was tough but the final was very easy. Very knowledgeable on the content. Definitely recommend.
He gets a bad rep because GG 102 is taken by business students looking for a bird course they never have to attend, and then getting upset when they don't do well in a course they haven't been to all sem. He is passionate about the material and really engaging. One of the reasons I stuck with geography. Cares a lot about his students. Great guy.
Clicker questions make class mandatory. A lot harder than other profs comparing workload from fall 2014 to winter 2015 semester. Different labs, group presentations. Other semester had easier midterms, no clicker questions, and no group presentations. If you get Imort as a prof, see if you can switch to another prof.
Found him quite rude. Very boring class, and extremely hard midterms and exams. Do not expect this to be a bird course, even though it is stated as one. Too harsh on his students, and the material was quite boring.
In GG102, Dr. Imort is trying to inspire you to pursue geography. So, don't expect the normal lectures about the content. The lecture are fun. If you read the book, you will get an A+ without flinching. If you don't read the book, You will feel like the exam is like nails on a chalkboard.
Dr. Imort's lectures are very interesting but when it comes times for exams you will realize how little he taught you and how much learning you must do on your own.
GG102 had my interest at first but it got lost in the rather bland lectures. Reading is a must if you want to have a full understanding of the lectures. He randomly does in-class participation questions so reading the textbook in prep for that is important as well. Shows students the respect that they show him generally.
You should be interested in human geography if you take this course. Attending lectures is important if you want to understand the slides and examples, and there are in-class questions that count for marks, too. Read all of the textbook and know definitions. He's a super nice guy who really cares about what he's teaching!
Very boring lectures. Exam was heavy on lecture while everything I studied from the textbook was no on the exam. Lab assignment are easier marks depending on how much work you put into it but very boring. Would not recommend taking the course if you have Imort.
Overall I enjoyed the class. If you go in expecting to do nothing and get an A you might be disappointed. Do a bit of work & show up to lecture and it'll be easy. The labs are a big chunk that are pretty easy. Final exam covers A LOT of material though. Watch out because he regularly changes his syllabus Work and you'll be rewarded
Does try his best to keep the lectures interesting, but the information it self is fairly bland (keep in mind you must be interested in the course and its content or it will be difficult to follow along). Its a MUST to read the textbook and be able to look for the small details for his exams. Textbook based exams.
Imort was a great prof! He is really passionate about what he is teaching and it shows in his lectures. Take a lot of notes in class, pretty much everything on the final is from his lectures. Labs are pretty easy but a little bit of work. Overall easy class and nice guy got a 12 (probably because of all the extra credit options he gives students)
Reading the textbook is mandatory if not you will struggle in the course.
This is the most woke man you will ever meet
Love him. He's one of the best profs I've had. He's passionate about his discipline, interesting, & very elaborate. Imort's one of those profs who really makes you think... People think it's a bird course but it's not as effort is needed. Attending his lectures is key if you want a decent mark. Pay attention & take notes. Imort in 1 word: WOKE
Amazing prof and you'll find the lectures fascinating if you're interested in the subject matter. Has some very interesting stories of his humanitarian work in Africa and his time in the military. Online homework due before class twice-weekly, but not too difficult if you can read maps and graphs. No midterm. Most woke prof you will ever have.
Great prof! Every lecture I would be disappointed when the class time was up because of how interesting Imort's lectures are. You have to attend class to do well in the course. BUT if you interested in the content you won't want to miss anyways. Not a bird course like many students think it will be.
Great prof with a lot of knowledge about the world!
A great prof with a very clear message. Mastering Geography is a pain but the lab assignments are quite easy and there is no midterm.
Imort is the kindest prof I had during first year. If you put in effort it is easy to get a good mark. He is very passionate about geography which makes his lectures very interesting. This is a interesting class with a few assignments (marked very easy) no midterm, and an easy final where he gives almost 80% of the questions in lecture
Honestly the best professor I have ever had. Even though I didn't get a great grade in the class (due to the labs) I loved his lecture he's an amazing person with an amazing story
Realest G I know in all of uni
A true gem
Awful prof. doesn't even care about the students. tries his absolute best to make sure the students fail their quizzes and learning catalytic. this guy makes such a simple course so much more difficult than it needs to be. 0/5 for all categories if I could rate it.
Do not take this course as an elective. This guy purposely makes such an easy course so hard. He seems like he cares for his students but, he does not. The amount of reading is ridiculous. The quizzes he makes is purely memorization and its unnecessarily difficult. Just do not take this course/professor. Also he just makes lecture recordings.
This class was supposed to be easy and interesting but is the complete opposite. The textbook readings are super heavy and his quizzes make you memorize facts. Furthermore, he does not care about students concerns with workload and mental health.
This guy thinks we live for geography and that the only course were taking this term is his
My favourite professor of all time. Incredibly intelligent and compassionate. Great lectures (I actually enjoyed being there) and extremely accommodating. Amazing teacher, better person.
Imort is an amazing professor that genuinely cares about his students. The only students that dislike him are those that want an easy grade and aren't prepared to work for it. He is extremely accommodating and he switched up the entire format of his course in order for students to succeed, genuinely amazing person
Dr. Imort is by far one of my favourite professors. He's extremely accommodating of his students, and his lectures are interesting! He's an all-around fantastic professor and person! And as long as you prepare and are willing to put in the work, you will most definitely succeed in this course!
First year course with him was great, but his upper year courses were bad. Upper year courses are harder, but the problem was that he keeps adding new instructions for the assignments during the term. His long lectures made it hard to participate, but he puts it on the students for low participation mark. Mixed reviews here finally made sense.
