Into himself. Lecture and tests do not reflect one another. Belittles students if they dare ask a question. Defines words, incorrectly. Yells in class for effect? Works off campus a lot, hard to get office time. Pass on this one if you can.
Is a very hard teacher but his class is passable. You will have to work hard to pass this class, his test are always over 70 questions and does not cover the material you learn in class. He teaches off a powerpoint that is hard to understand. He is willing to help in his office hours that was extremely helpful.
Worst professor ever. He yells at you for asking question its hard to make appt times with him. He doesnt talk to you after class. His powerpoint are copied and paste from the book. His test has nothing to do with his lectures. He makes you feel stupid if talking to him and he hates being corrected. DO NOT TAKE HIM UNLESS YOU WANT TO TAKE IT AGAIN.
A lot of study time is required to do well.
Dr. Ivy is a challenging and intimidating professor, but has a certain passion for the subject and will help any student as much as he can who is struggling. Attend each class and definitely make sure he knows your name and build a relationship with this man. Take notes in class while reviewing his slides and allow him to see your effort!
Dr. Ivy was nothing short of very involved, informative, concerned individual for our understanding and knowledge of the human body and it's functions. Dr. Ivy comes very highly recommended of me, current student!
I have learned alot this semester..And decided to take his course A&Pll for the spring semester.
Dr. Michael Ivy is an extremely passionate instructor, who challenges his students in everyway possible. The value received from him is paramount for pre-medical and pre-dental school preparation. I highly recommend Dr. Ivy for the Comparative Physiology course. Building a solid relationship with him may be crucial to your success.
One of the most difficult professors I have ever had. Difficult would really be an understatement though, I found him the most challenging. He pushed me to think, learn, and comprehend. I have never learned so much biology in one course before. I wasn't crazy about about his method but it was effective and I would take him again to challenge myself
Dr Ivy is a great professor, but anyone looking to get a free ride and pass this class is sadly mistaking. So if you are dedicated hard worker even if you struggle a bit Dr Ivy will recognize your will to do and help anyone who wants to help themselves. Biology is NOT an easy subject for me but Dr Ivy helped me through it and Im forever grateful.
Dr. Ivy is thorough and cuts to the chase of the material. He is not going to give you a grade but he makes every effort to make sure you understand and he is extremely fair.
Dr. Ivy has a different style of teaching than I am used to, but he makes it clear what you need to know. He is willing to help students and provides several opportunities for meetings and tutoring.
Dr. Ivy is the most helpful professor ive ever had. Although the material can be challenging, Dr. Ivy takes the time to help you understand it. He notices students who work hard and rewards them accurately. If you put in an effort to learn, you will learn alot. The material I learned in his class has has helped in other courses. He is the best!
Dr. Ivy and I nearly bumped heads in he beginning. He has a different personality that is not always understood. However, once you get to know him, you will fnd that he is a wonderful professor. He truly wants the best for his students. You must work hard in order to be successful in his course. Luckily, he recognizes hard work and dedication.
Dr. Ivy is a tough professor, but a very good one. He is helpful and open to questions, and you'll learn more from his class than you would from most professors. Highly recommended for anyone seeking a medical profession.
Dr. Ivy is by far the most passionate professor I've met thus far. He cares about the success of his students and their advancement. I am very blessed to have had him as a professor because what he has taught has helped me in many of my academic and career goals. His class is very challenging but very possible to finish succesfully if you apply.
Dr. Ivy is one of the best teachers in the biology department. His class does require that you read the textbook. He is a very helpful professor, and I learned a lot in his class that will be essential in my future career in the health profession.
He is the best overall Biological Science Professor at TSU. His ability to accurately scaffold information and contextually apply information form the text to the real world increases the classes relevance. The class's high level of rigor makes this essential for every pre-health professional student, hence why I took him for 3 different classes.
Dr. Ivy is a great teacher. He will go out of his way to help you if you are in need of assistance. If you put forth an effort and try you can pass his class.
I can truly appreciate the hard work and diligence Dr. Ivy required from me and other students who aspired to become healthcare professionals. I can say with the utmost honesty and confidence, that Dr. Ivy’s Endocrinology class is perhaps one of the few classes that I took at TSU which prepared me for the rigors of Graduate studies
Dr.Ivy, is very good in his profession, his teaching method was different in a good way, because he prepared you for what he expect of you to get out of his class. Dr. Ivy is a great mentor.
I appreciate the extra time that Dr. Ivy will take outside of class time to ensure that you understand whatever you are having a problem with.
It is absolutely necessary to read the book as lectures do not go into great detail. Dr. Ivy's exams are very good but the midterms and finals are made by another professor in the department... Evening lectures don't last the full length they are scheduled which means there is less time to discuss difficult subject matter.
Very talkative
I can say that the second semester harder, and that if you study te power points and the book u will do fine.
I have taken A&P 1 and 2 with Dr. Ivy. I got an A in A&P 1. I am now in A&P 2 and I am not sure where I stand this semester. His tests are hard and he does not give studyguides whatsoever. But he is there if needed and he will also give extra credit to those that have tried. Do all of your homework, read the ch and ch homework and you should pass.
In order to do well in this class, you need to do a lot of outside reading and get a tutor.
Dr. Ivy is a great Biology A&P instructor who takes his time with each individual student when asked. Dr. Iy has a way of making A&P easy to comprehend if you apply yourself. He is easy to talk to so if you are having problems before you drop the class please go talk to him.
He tries to help students pass
It is a hard course if you do not know how to study
Dr. Ivy is a great professor he really cares about his students and wants all them to be successful. He may come off a little harsh but don't take it personal. I currently have him for A&P I. You have to apply and put effort into this class in order to pass.
Dr. Ivy is a good professor he just wants to see his students to be successful. This is not an easy course and you have to read and study. he provides study guides and tutoring for extra help. Test method is MC easiest format and he gives different ways to learn the material.
Be ready to read your textbook and learn synonyms for everything that is covered. If you shy away from this professor the medical profession may not be suited for you. The class becomes difficult at times and it is very time consuming, but it is because of the material covered, not the professor. He gives a great first foot in the door to A&P.
Dr. Ivy is very knowledgable about the subject, but he teaches too many chapters at one time. If you can't deal with that, then I would advise you to choose another professor.
Very good teacher, tough but very smart in his craft
Dr.Ivy is a very knowledgeable professor. It is very clear that he knows what he's talking about. On the other hand, he sometimes comes off a bit rude. He talks all over the place , and he is very hard to follow. He gives you study guides that do not correlate with the exams. His exam questions are very difficult.
This professor wants to see you succeed however you need to definitely put in the work outside of class to study. Study guides are provided for you as well as access to powerpoints. The instructor may come off as intimidating but he simply wants all of his students to be successful and the best at their health professions.
Dr.Ivy is a wonderful teacher but he teaches a hard class. Be prepared to STUDY STUDY STUDY in/outside of class in order to pass. His quizzes and test are hard but he gives study guides, powerpoints, and extra help to prepare his students. He will go out of his way to help his students be successful but you have to work hard as well. NOT an easy A.
Dr. Daniels really want his students to succeed. He does listen to rational arguments. But, he speaks as though all his students should be ashamed.Even if you do your work, it's hard not to take it personally. His tests are very difficult, but he doesn't write them. You must read/study the book! He gives lots of very easy extra credit.
I never seen wired professor like Dr. Ivy. I dont recommend to take any student with him. He needs only to study his course 24/7 and does not think u r taking another course.
He is a very knowledgeable professor. It is very clear that he knows what he's talking about. On the other hand, he sometimes comes off a bit rude. He is very hard to follow. He gives you study guides that do not correlate with the exams. His exam questions are very difficult. You will have to study for his class 24/7.
He is a great teacher! Just make sure you do your part!
HE WAS NOT GOOD AT ALL
Very helpful instructor. Would recommend.
Read, read, read
Be ready to read every inch of your book. As well as knowing synonyms for every thing that you learn.
This is a challenging course, but as long as you do your part you can pass.
See ya next semester too!!
Test does not seem to correspond with the information in the book.
Test given in class does not correspond with the book.
This is a hard class so if your looking for an EASY A this is not the professor for you!Be prepared to study your butt off..You will learn alot form Dr Ivy!
very challenging professor, would not recommend this class if you have a full time job. this class requires you to study 24/7 and the study guides he gives does not match up to the test given, very hard course but you can pass if you only take his class by itself and study study study and read the text book over and over again
I enjoyed taking Dr. Ivy's class. Like the others stated it is not easy by no means, but an A is very obtainable. You do have to study but no harder than you would any other science course. Be prepared to learn a lot and if you didnt like butterfingers before, you will afterwards lol.
Overall Dr. Ivy is a good teacher. He makes it easy to learn by actually helping you understand that content of the course. He is good at showing you how to break down words and understand. However he's bad at the way he talks to students he seems to have a bit of attitude and talks to you like your stupid. If you work hard he will help you succeed
More feedback from test is much needed.
If you have a full-time job or more than 1 class. DO NOT TAKE HIM... Although he is a very good teacher he speaks very negative to students especially if you answer a question wrong, and don't depend on the study guides that are given they have nothing to do with the test. On top of that he never goes over test or quizzes that have been taken.
hard teacher, limited support
General biology and chemistry should be pre-requisites for anatomy and physiology. Tends to belittle students. Will take the second semester with this professor.
Mr. Ivy is very knowledgable and could instruct very well if he didn't try to cover so much material at one time. This class was very advanced, no time to learn basically expectd to memorize the material. I blame who ever made the curriculum for this course because it is not beneficial to a nursing student being that he/she will not truly learn.
Dr. Ivy is one of the most helpful professors I have ever had. He is so willing to help however he can. Awesome teacher!!!
If you take Dr. Ivy you will have to study A LOT. He covers material quickly and his tests are difficult. He also tends to make you feel stupid if you ask questions in class. You have been warned!
the class was okay , he's pretty hard and his test are too. if you take his class make sure you like studying.
Dr.Ivy is very difficult, yet knowledgeable. Be prepared to study hard and still be disappointed with your grade. If you can pass on this professor, do so. It is not worth it !
He's a bad teacher. He's knows the information, he just can't get relay it to his students effectively. He also talks down to his students and expoects us to know all the information he knows.
This class is very hard and if you take him make sure you study.
He is a great professor
hard teacher
more feedback on test would be helpful. i do iunderstand that we must study in order to pass if we study and still fail why let students contiue to study the wrong information. when test are giving back scantrons are hard to read and you can't remeber every question and as a student i don't know what information i have right and what i have wrong.
this class was hard
long three hour course, teach does alot of yelling
Dr. Ivy is professor who knows the material very well but does not know how to go by teaching it. He has bad people skills and he sometimes questions students intelligence and make us as students feel dumb.He does not explain material thoroughly. He is a very hard professor and you basically have to teach yourself EVERYTHING!!!!!!
Dr.Ivy is very knowledgeable about the information and he wants you to leave his class with the same knowledge. If you are not willing to read and help yourself he will not be the professor for you. You must know synonyms many of the systems covered. If you want to learn this is the class for you. Remember, nothing worth having is easy to attain.
Excellent teacher. hOWEVER, i BELIEVE THAT THE EDUCATIONAL EXPERIENCE WOULD HAVE BEEN ENHANCED BY RETURNING EXAMS TO THE STUDENTS FOR REVIEW FOR SUBSEQUENT EXAMS AND TO INCREASE THE STUDENTS UNDERSTANDING OF THE SUBJECT MATTER CONTENT. Students learn from mistakes.
good teacher.
This course is much harder from when I took it in the pass. being tested over more than 6 chapters at a time is a lot. I think if a test was given after each chapter would be helpful then students would retain more info and maybe a review. When over half the class is failing then maybe its the way the course is being taught.
Great Professor but his test are hard to comprehend.
Ivy challenges you to be the best that you can be. Your great will drop, i have no doubt, but he gives you ample opportunities to make your grade up. If you're looking for a challenge, take this teacher.
His tough but helpful. I took him for A&P 1, first day I wanted to drop but I stuck with him and we have formed a good relationship. If you are struggling go to tutoring with him. Make him remember you
Dr. Ivy is a good man as well as a good teacher. He helps his students succeed and does his part AS LONG AS YOU DO YOURS (Dr. Ivy is not a babysitter), his class isn't too hard. He made it easy for me to understand and learn with words.
He will talk to you like you are stupid. He explains the meanings of words well but on his test the questions will not match up with what was reviewed in class.
Dr. Ivy cares very much about his students and their success. I dont understand some of the comments left on his page this class is not supposed to be easy but Dr. Ivy will help you. All you have to do is try! Dr. Ivy was a blessing to me I am very thankful for everything he did for me. He is one of the best at TSU!
Dr. Ivy is one of the best professors i have had at TSU, he truly cares about his students and wants us to succeed with the knowledge we need in the workplace. I don't understand some of the comments left on his page this class is not supposed to be easy you have to study and put in the effort to pass this class. Dr. Ivy will help you.
This class is demanding, but the Dr.Ivy is their to help you if you are serious about your success. He has tutoring sessions most days of the week and you can schedual office time. He is not for the students who want an easy A, but if you want to fully understand the matterial and be prepaired for your next endeavor in life he's the teacher for you
Constraints placed by administrators made this semester's lectures particularly disappointing. Hopefully those constraints will be removed and future students will get a better experience. Students registering for Dr. Ivy's sections should be able to expect rigorous, thorough, and fast-paced lectures. This semester was taken up by tedious review.
I really do not like this class.
He is a wonderful educator
He is a great teacher and is very detailed and concerned with his students learning.
He is a wonderful teacher and works hard to make sure students are engaged. I enjoyed having him as a teacher and would enjoy having him as an instructor in the future.
He is a great teacher and I enjoyed his class. He is very dedicated and wants to make sure that his students succeed in careers.
I believe that dr. Ivy is a very passionate and caring professor and if you apply yourself and study the material you can pass this course.
You can tell that he cares and genuinely wants you to understand but his approach with the material is all wrong. He spent majority of our class "reviewing" which left barely any time for new material. Lectures were long-winded causing for a disinterest.
He is a good professor a little intimidating at times. But once you go to his tutoring sessions more everything he teaches becomes a little easier to understand.
Teacher was a great professor, difficult, but fair. He didn't slack on his teaching which in turn made me not want to slack on my learning. He made sure that we learned the material and not just memorized it.
Dr.Ivy is very passionate about what he does. He was helpful and willing to help throughout the whole semester. He doesn't just give out good grades, he makes you use your brain and work for them. The only thing I didn't like about this class is that he was restricted in his teaching, which I beleive hindered the class and our learning experience.
It is very hard to follow him. The notes he gives is very scattered. There is not an equal opputunity of grades during his course. He is also confusing.
Dr.Ivy is on of the best professors that I've had throughout my college experience. Dr. Ivy is always available to help his students in any way that he can in order for them to succeed in his class. He is very knowledgeable and passionate about this subject. AMAZING teacher!!!
Good professor, will help you if you ask. Just have to keep up with class. Kind of difficult if you're in the class that meets once a week. However, it is doable.
He is passionate with his job but he is very firm an aggressive when teaching. Go to tutoring and be ready for the challenge.
Glad this is over he really disappointed me this semester. But he does his best to provide multiple ways of studying.
Ok professor, will help you if you ask. Just have to keep up with class. Kind of difficult if you're in the class that meets once a week.
Okay and very challenging.
He is a genious teacher and a profeesor that TSU are lucky to have him teach for them.
VERY CHALLENGING THIS SEMESTER. HE IS REALLY TO HELP BUT THIS WAS A VERY DISAPPOINTING SEMESTER FOR ME AS FAR AS HIM PERSONALLY
My experience in the class was hard however this is a top level science class, he makes sure you know the material and he provides help to his students especially if you go talk to him. Focus on the book it can be your best friend take good notes and you should be fine
Dr. Ivy is a wonderful teacher and it's a pleasure taking him. However this is a hard class but it is a top level science class and he makes sure you undertand the material, so the best advice i can give is establish yourself as a student that wants to learn early and study hard and make good notes
Great teacher but a hard class.
Graet teacher but hard class.
Dr. Ivy was amazing this semester. He did regular reviews of the material and provided study guides and powerpoint lecture notes for each class meeting.
decent teacher
He doesn't want you exiting the class and unable to care for a patient,in my case, because you are unsure of what is going on with your patient.Would you put your life in the hands of someone who doesn't understand how the body works?TAKE HIM IF YOU ARE TRULY PASSIONATE ABOUT PERUSING A GREAT AMOUNT OF KNOWLEDGE.Not an easy A class!
This is my 2nd semester with him as my professor. I have learned a lot. Not just about the subject but also study habits and note taking.
Great professor who knows the book so well but cannot teach the material. Expect for you to learn on his level.
Hi, I would thank Dr.Ivy for his excessive care about his students' learning and his quality for teaching, I think Tn state university are lucky to have a professor like Dr. Ivy to teach for them.
He's very helpful and passionate about teaching.
Great teacher but hard class
Take him!
The class was quite difficult being that I only took it once a week, but he made sure that within those three hours we learned what there is to learn. He's a great teacher and very passionate about the subject. Not only does he teach it, but he means what he's teaching which made me want to learn even more!
This course is based on the effort you put in if you put in no effort your grade will not change but he gives extra credit the course is not that tough if study and read the book... The book does matter in this course and I-clickers
Very good teacher that knows the material, just not really good at teaching it to others.
HE IS AWESOME TEACHER ,KNOWS EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS COURSE BUT THE CLASS STILL NOT EASY.
He knows the subject extremely well and he makes his duty that you know the information as well. GREAT TEACHER!
HE IS AWESOME ,HELPFUL,AND GENIUS .NO WAY TO PASS THIS CLASS WITHOUT HIM.
Horrible professor, don't take this class!
The class section met for once a week; therefore, limiting the amount of material the professor could go over in class. Students had to put in the effort (read the textbook, go over slides, ask questions after class) to make sure they succeeded. A & P is not a subject that is necessarily open to interpretation, it is pretty straight forward.
Michael Ivy is a wonderful teacher and I would definitely take him again. He cares about his students and does everything he can to ensure that students learn the information and do well in class.
Michael Ivy is a wonderful teacher and I would definitely take him again. He cares about his students and does everything he can to ensure that students learn the information and do well in class. He is a great professor.
He is a great professor. He is there to teach you stuff that you will really need to know in upper classes. I personally went out of order and took all upper levels first. Everything he is saying to you LISTEN! He helps anyone and everyone. So go to tiger tutoring he is always there. Don't skip class because iclicker assignments will save your butt
He skims over most of the information, & goes into depth on just a few topics. This is fine if you read the book, but don't expect to grasp the material from lectures alone. On certain subjects his memory gets a little hazy, and he does more harm than good when going into detail (eg. chem). But, if you do the work, & show up to class you will pass.
there needs to be more homework in my opinion
Great Class
Dr. Ivy is a good professor. he knows the information very well and offers tutoring on the nights we don't have class.
Very intelligent, well rounded teacher. Forever for being able to take his class.
He's a great professor.
Dr. Ivy is one of those professors that you hate to love. He would be considered to be hard for many but that's not the case. He just wants you to be as excited and dedicated to learning the material as he is in teaching it. If you need extra help he is there to help at all costs to ensure that you pass the class. Awesome Professor!
Be in class, study outside of class, and you'll pass the class.
awesome teacher,i recommend take him for this class
Great teacher. Very knowledgeable of the material. However his class is not easy. If you don't like to put in the work don't take this course. If you like to be challenged and want to learn this course is for you.
His class is extremely intense so if you sign up for the class be PREPARED TO WORK EXTREMELY HARD
Great professor! If you're in comparative physiology you already know how much studying you need to do to succeed. That being said he gives a TON of extra credit and is a lenient grader. Aside from that he goes far far out of his way to help you if you need it. Go see him outside of class and he will help you however he can. Very high quality
Dr. Ivy was clear cut and to the point in his teachings. He taught us what we desired to learn. If we had a problem or struggled in an area, he would stop the class and make sure we got it right. Also, he allowed us to be responsible enough to read on our own at home instead of reading word for word in the classroom.
Keep in mind that the lectures are not enough and you will have to read for to fill in the blanks from lecture. He is available at the tutor center if you need extra help.
This man is absolutely inspirational. I confess, he was the hardest teacher I have ever had in my undergrad. Yet, being in his class gave me courage that I am not afraid to compete with the rest of the medical world.
This man is absolutely awesome. I confess, he was the hardest teacher I have ever had in my undergrad. Yet, being in his class gave me courage that I am not afraid to compete with the rest of the medical world.
Professor does preach alot but he does care. Stick it out in the class and always do all work.
I love the willingness! He is great
Professor Ivy really taught me alot of key anatomy concepts that I apply at work right now. The way he broke down intimidating language into easier to learn language really helps.
I really enjoyed having Dr. Ivy as a professor this semester. He encourages his students to learn.
Dr. Ivy is very knowledgeable and wants to teach students who want to learn. Go to class. Participate in lecture. Read your text. And pull your weight. If you do these things, he will help you in every way he possibly can. He wants you to succeed! Sometimes It was a little hard to follow the lecture, but over all, I like Dr. Ivy.
i had a hard time keeping up make us have partners or something so we can depend on someone else besides you
could have assigned real homework that was not opptional
For Bio students interested in this class get ready to commit time to studying for exams. Its important to be in all classes and ask questions. If you dedicate this time you will be successful! Goodluck TSU Bio majors
For Bio students interested in this class get ready to commit time to studying for exams. Its important to be in all classes and ask questions. If you dedicate this time you will be successful! Goodluck TSU Bio majors!!!
i personally will never take another lecture by him because although you read your books i feel that he still doesn't explain like other bio lecture teachers does. worst mistake was taking him without asking around first.
Dr. Ivy has made my learning of the human body and how it functions a breeze! I really feared this class and knew I had to take it because of my career path but he seems to make it so simple. If you are not able to understand he does not mind repeating and repeating it for you. Tutoring is always available too. He is the best! Thanks so much!
Dr. Ivy is a great professor and he actually teaches thing that people need to know. He uses terms that you do know so that can provide you with a better knowledge of what you need to know.
Dr. Ivy has a passion for his field. He expects his students to work hard and learn the material from which he teaches in class and outside reading assignments. It is a tough class but he is always available for tutoring and will help the students with extra credit if they choose to do the extra work.
He is a great teacher , although lectures are long and he is kind of difficult he is there to help. He offers tutoring which is great just have to find time to go. Feedback is okay.
Good Teacher. Gets extremely loud when he gets passionate about the subject. (manly with the 6 nutrients)
He was really helpful, he tutors, and he give extra credit
Gained knowledge from this course. Learned about nutrients and your four tastes.
beware of the yelling and unique character.
he is the best
He is a great teacher. If you read the book or even just the review at the end of the chapter, you'll do just fine in the class.
Really helpful but can be a different class if you are not used to learning by lectures
my professor taught us about the six nutrients and further more in dept with blood vessels and the cardiovascular system
As long as you apply yourself and study, you should be able to pass the class. Effort will earn you a decent chance to pass. You will be required to know the material, but as I've stated if you apply yourself, you will have minimal problems.
I took him twice for A&P 1 and 2. If you dont like to read or not good with teaching yourself the material I would recommend not to take him . Make sure you buy and do the iClicker, it has a large effect on your grade. The midterm was simple but the final is always difficult for some reason. He just expects for you to already know the material
Very Helpful! Test are Hard but not harder than expected. I took him for multiple courses and appreciate him and his knowledge base!
Not very helpful. yells ALOT. you will most likely not pass his midterm. has an 80% failure rate. Studying will not help you.
Dr Ivy is actually a good teacher. I would recommend you do read the book, and become familiar with medical terminology if you are going to take him. His Mid term and final aren't a easy pass. You will most definitely have to study, and most importantly go to class and pay attention. Also if you do talk to him, he will help you if your confused.
Do not take his class! I repeat DO NOT TAKE HIM!!!! you will not pass
Dr. Ivy is self centered and is not open minded to trying to teach another way so that students can understand. It is necessary to go to his tutoring because class alone you will be lost. He also gets off track and has this Butterfinger wrapper he seems to always talk about.
You will learn the 6 nutrients. THINK and TRY! He's very helpful. If you ask for extra assistance he will give it and that also helps with your grade. I took him for A&P 1 &2.
Dr. Ivy is one of the best professors I have ever taken, I learned more in his class than any other class; sure the material is hard at times, but its college, its not supposed to be easy. He wants you to learn and do the best you can. I must admit the tests were hard, but if you work hard and if he sees you working hard, he will help you out. :)
Dr. Ivy's class was pretty tough. He has heavy lecture and there is a lot of reading at home. He is there to help you if you utilize it. He has tutorial every week and he gives extra credit. I didn't do great on mid-term but stuck with the class and I was pretty happy in the end. Get ready to study and learn!
Dr. Ivy really cares about his students learning. He is passionate about the subject and it shows. Please purchase the book, read and attend any/all tutoring sessions. I would definitely take him again. Be prepared to work and study.
As long as you show him you are serious and care about your grade and SHOW UP FOR Tutoring he will go over and beyond to help you. Apply your self and you will pass.
He doesnt care if you pass or not. Hes very sarcastic and can be very rude. He times his quizzes you only have 30 seconds to answer the question before he switches it. DONT TAKE HIS CLASS
Dr Ivy is an amazing professor who cares about his students. Many students get intimidated by his comments or his demeanor. He can be extra sometimes, but I got past that. But do not let that be a barrier. If you go to his office and his tutoring sessions, he will help you.
Dr. Ivy is a good teacher, you just have to make sure you pay attention in class. Also, make sure you take advantage of the extra credit that he gives out, it will really help in the end. Lastly, you should make time to go to PASS tutoring, that will help as well at the end.
He made sure I was ready for Nursing School!
Good teacher. You will have to work though. Not an easy A. If you do the work you will get the grades
The class is all quizzes and test. The quizzes are 10 questions over the whole chapter and the questions are timed.
do your work, go to tutoring, take LOTS of notes.
His class is a class that i would never take again. I just cant. This is a class thats not even in my major so itll mess up my gpa.
He teaches a way for you as a student to learn it different
good teacher, quizzes is 10 seconds per question
He is a great teacher but the class isnt a breeze.
Really makes you work for it if you wanna be the best in your field that your going in.
Ivy is really great if you want difficult course work ! Hes an amazing teacher you just really need to apply yourself !
Dr. Ivy is a great teacher. I really enjoyed his class and would take it again. He really knows the human body and is passionate about it. I liked it.
I dont find anything that is a problem.
Honestly if you study and take good notes, you will pass. He works hard to help you pass and he is always available for tutoring. Its not a hard class if you arent lazy.
Read the book Take notes Do all optional assignments Study Youll survive
Very caring, demonstrates material clearly, funny!
Hes very specific and he does demonstrations
Dr. Ivy was a very good professor, but his class was very very tough. I feel as if he expects us to be on his level immediately so when we don't know something before he teaches it, he gets very shocked. Once you understand him and know how he teaches it's understandable, but I wouldn't recommend him to any freshman just to look out for them.
He is not a very carrying teacher either but my only advise is go to tutoring.
Dr IVY way of teaching is very old school. He has long lectures and quizzes in class every week, 5 questions each. I suggest go to tutoring as he using that as an extra credit at the end of the semester. If it wasn't for the tutoring and his curves on tests and his other extra credit opportunities I definitely wouldn't have passed
Dr. Ivy spends most of the class yelling about how you should be learning (I.e. by looking at him and not taking notes) rather than actually teaching the material. His lectures could be cut in half if he would omit these unnecessary and repetitive comments. He forces students to respond to everything he says. But overall not a bad guy
Hes is well respected. At first you might think you cant pass his class but you need to do your part. Get a hard copy book, read through it, study it. GO TO TUTORING!!
I HATED this class! Dr. Ivy yells all the time. He's very old fashioned. I FAILED!!! He could care less if you came or dropped the class. He made us feel stupid for asking questions. If you feel like you're going to fail, just go ahead and drop.
Dr. Ivy made my intro into my health science career as care coordination a breeze. Although he is definition heavy and paticipation heavy, the knowledge does stick and can be used unlike most professors. I love him
Do not take this class. Hes very unorganized and talks like he doesnt know what hes talking about. He talks to his students as if we took the class already or are little kids.
would not recommend. you will not learn anything. you will have to teach yourself
Do not take professor ivy for human anatomy easily the worst teacher I have ever had.
He doesn't care about your technical issues. He is the only one who uses the lockdown browser. Everything he teaches it is NOT ON THE QUIZ. If you are in his class GET OUT ASAP!!!!!! Everyone fails his class.
Do not take this class if you are a visual or tactile learner, you will struggle. If you need to be taught throughly to understand the material this class is also not for you. Definitely a fast paced class.
Dr. Ivy is really not as bad people make him seem. It is fast pace but I recommend going over the chapter before class & ask questions as he teaches it. He doesnt give hw. Your grade is based off your quizzes , midterm , final & 25% is your lab. All you have to do is pass the quizzes. He also gives a lot of extra credit so that you can pass
Taking the class now. The Midterm is tomorrow and I am very under prepared. He is very rude and doesn't teach. Expects you to have photographic memory. DO NOT TAKE
If you care about your well being and mental health.... DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS!!!!!!!!!!!
If youre not someone whos willing to study outside of class. Do not take Dr. Ivy. Hes a good teacher but his teaching style is not for everyone and his energy can be a bit much for people. His quizzes are tricky worded so you really have to know your vocabulary as well.
Dr.Ivy isn't that bad but if this is your first time taking an anatomy class I wouldn't recommend his class. You need to already know biology and anatomy before taking his class, those who never took an anatomy class failed. Overall though Dr.Ivy is a good person and gives a lot of extra credit and is available for tutoring every day of the week.
Off topic 9/10 times and completes minuscule tangents about god knows what in the middle of a lecture. The way he speaks is so disorganized. His speech is all over the place and unpredictable which doesn't quite fit a teaching position. Only recommend this teacher is you are comfortable with wasting your time in class.
You will struggle and possibly fail. He's a very smart man but teaches horribly. He speaks as the information he's studied for years is as simple as the alphabet. He continually gets off topic and lectures on things that barely appears on quizzes. If you care about your mental health, take someone else!
Dr. Ivy is very smart and respected. He can be very over the top but he cares about your grade. If you don't take advantage of all the opportunities he gives, you most likely won't do well. Make sure to attend tutoring and read the book as well as his slides.
Dr Ivy is very smart and knows this subject. He can be very over the top but he cares a lot about your grade, but it is your job to keep up and care for it as well. He gives out a lot of extra credit and has tutoring every day except Sundays. He never misses a class and attendance is mandatory. Just read the book and make sure he knows your name.
Dr. Ivy is extra but in the best way possible. He truly does care about his students. Once he sees that you are trying he will do whatever he can to make sure you pass his class. Just make sure to stay engaged during his class, take notes when he says to, and attend the tutoring sessions he offers.
Overall I give Dr.Ivy a 4/5 because he cares about his students. Yes his class is difficult, lecture heavy, and test heavy but he does his best. His teaching style is very unique which is why some students don't like his course. Dr.Ivy gives out a lot of extra credit because he wants to give every student the chance to succeed.
At first, he may seem a bit difficult to work with. However, once you get to know him and demonstrate that you are putting in effort, he is actually quite pleasant. Although he can be loud sometimes, he does this to ensure that you remember the vital information. He wants you to succeed.
Professor Ivy's class is challenging, but using unstuckstudy AI alongside the textbook can help you succeed. Attend every class and be prepared to study hard - the quizzes require strong vocabulary knowledge.
Dr.Ivy's human gross anatomy class actually isn't bad if you really study and put in the work. His teaching style ins't ideal because he does yell/scream a lot however if you pay attention you can pass his class and it is interesting.
Anatomy: Dr. Ivy is by far one of the worst professors I've come across at TSU, and not because of the letter grade I received. He doesn't explain content properly nor does he give a clear outline of what we actually need to study. It's just hundreds of terms and you have to hope and pray you studied the right information. He also picks favorites.
These reviews are not honest enough in my opinion. This professor degrades us and yells at us half of the lecture. He takes an hour to go over three terms then gives us quizzes that aren't even what he went over. If you want to pass his class be prepared to pretty much teach yourself. He doesn't know how to use basic technology, he's not the best.
Great professor! A lot of students struggle with the exams, but you mainly have to pay attention to the way things are worded. Grades come mostly from quizzes and exams, but he gives lots of opportunities for extra credit. I would definitely take this class again.
Dr. Ivy is a great professor! He is VERY exam-heavy. There's a few quizzes. There's no homework, so you must stay disciplined and study deeply. Tests are tough but they prepare you for MCAT/DAT style thinking. Go to his tutoring hours early in the semester! He does offer extra credit. Challenging but overall very rewarding class.
