Comments about how this class should be easy are an insult to Film as both history and a form of art. There is more to know about film and the people in them then what students who read tabloids and People Magazine want to admit. Michael Jones is an amazing professor who has an extensive knowledge with film in its entirety.

Great teacher. Easygoing, passionate. Does not take attendance or use Blackboard, but says in the first class the tests (ONLY 2) are 100% based on lectures. Textbook is optional, only need good notes from class. Suggest going to class every time. Gives study guide and extra credits for showing up in class. Better to ask questions in or after class

My GPA dropped from a 4.0 cuz of this class. Ambiguous, rambles during the beginning of the class, did not draw the two tests from the study guides. I studied religiously and ended up with a C. Doesnt use blackboard and sucks at responding to emails. If youre not an art or film major, DO NOT TAKE. It will cost you $ and effort, wont learn squat.

Hitchcock material was awesome. Jones posted all class materials by Canvas announcements which felt very disorganized. Syllabus was inconsistent w/ what Jones assigned each day (I found 3 diff times for when the final was due). Lectures were very rambly. Most of the final was based on the reading material. Only grades were the final and 5 pg paper.

His classes are fairly easy you just have to make sure you pay attention to his lectures; but if you watch the movies it should be easy to remember. He can be a little old school with some of the words he uses but if you keep in mind the type of person he is then you'll get over it. I'm taking his class again and I'm excited.

Every class was a lecture before watching a movie. I enjoyed the movies but at times it would be boring to sit in a dark theatre. The lectures were helpful, but there were only 2 assignments for the whole semester which is what affected my grade. He doubled the assignment you got the highest grade on for a total of 3 assignments.

Most classes started with a lecture followed by watching some films. There were only three assignments; 2 exams and an essay. He would give us his notes, so you just had to fill in some details. As long as you showed up and studied before the test you would be fine in this class. The content was interesting and he was available if you had concerns.

The class only had two assignments, midterm test and final. These tests are pretty simple, but there was information on them not covered in the study guide. He made a few weird comments that felt a little racist. Otherwise he's a fine enough guy, but he didn't make the class much better or worse.
