Its only the first week, but already I'm starting to not like him. He doesn't seem very confident about what he's saying.. which isn't great considering he IS the instructor.. and he seems to go about things the long and more complicated way.. only he doesn't explain how he went that way.. ah. Nothing impressive thats for sure.
EASIEST CLASS IVE EVER TAKEN!!! can you say nap time!

Ugh is he boring and he thinks he's funny with all his math history stories they suck okay if i wanted to hear bad standup I would have gone to a comedy club.
it's an easy class. though his confidence does seem to be lacking, he's a good instructor.

He knows tons about math, and is always willing to help, even with really stupid questions. His examples are kind of funny, and he tries to make class fun. This is important because math isn't a big favorite with most folks.
he was not very clear and he made things to complicated and difficult
Great teacher....easy class as long as you show up a few days a week...Tests aer all take home.
very nice guy, no tests, easiest 4.0 I've ever gotten
he's great. his class is fun, and easy. he clearly knows what he's talking about. he's really helpful. he also gives no exam. perfect.
A different teaching style, he likes to know what you can figure out by sitting and thinking for three hours on one problem rather than give tests. Homework is easy to get close to 100 percent and projects about the same, but you need to bust ass to do well on the portfolio
He's a good teacher. Funny in his own way. He goes off in tangents every now and then. Attendance is crucial, "tests" are all take home projects with a couple weeks to complete them. Overall I would recommend him.
total stereotypical math teacher; balding, glasses, a little belly, and kind of a nerd. but all in all he's an ok teacher, answers questions promply and usually explains things very clearly.
Im a person who is not the best in math, yet I aced this class with flying colors!!! Easiest 4.0 EVER. The Class is not really hard, just review from previous math classes. Mr. Kenyon is a good teacher, he explains stuff well, but if you really expect your math skills to be challenged, this is not a good teacher. No tests, and quizzes just portfoli
Good instructor, especially if you are like myself, and not too good with the mathmatics skills. Also, he doesn't give tests which in my mind is good thing. There is a writing portion to the class at the end though, summarizing what was learned throughout the quarter.
He does not give midterm or final but there is a porfolio that needs to be done at end of quarter. He is a great teacher. He may seem a bit standoffish but he is great.
Mr. Kenyon is a good teacher. He explains things very well and gives helpful handouts. All tests are take home but thats because they would take way too much time to complete in class. Moderately easy for a math class.
Mike was very helpful. Always willing to help you after he's done teaching. Funny in a corny funny way. Has good examples. If you're a good student, he really helps you out, and if you do your work, you'll understand almost everything. There's no final exam, just a stupid portfolio thing, but if you ask me, the portfolio was better than a test!
VERY VERY GOOD TEACHER! His examples are very clear and his tests are very painless. He sometimes goes off on math related side stories while lecturing which personally i liked much more than the lectures. The lectures were not boring in the least, but he really pounds the material into your head, so at times he sounds redundant. Great Teacher!!!!!
Mike is a great teacher. The way he does lecture is great. I never had a problem finding him during office hours. He has a very intense personality, but he is not mean. He will, however, always be helpful. Strongly recommended for anybody taking calculus.
SUPER good calc teacher. very clear. always willing to help you out one on one. he gives a fair amount of work but its always stuff he has taught clearly.
He is a really great teacher! he makes an effort to provide for individual learning styles and was willing to help in any way he could. Show up to class and be respectful, pay attention, take good notes, and do the homework.
Extreemly helpful teacher, He explains things clearly and helps you if you need it. He can tell if you want to learn or are just there because you have too. He will help you exceed if you want to, but has no pitty on those that slack. He has changed how I view math. This is a teacher I will never forget
HORRIBLE!!!!!! Not only was he annoying when he talked but he says umm in the most annoying voice posible. I can not describe it you have to hear it.The questions he asks are vague so you never get full credit. I hated him. Do not take his class if you dont like doing problems on the board.
Mike is a fair teacher, do you work and projects you should be in good shape, and the final portfolio is worth 1/3rd of your overall grade. But mike has a very short fuse and seems to get angry easily also be on time to class or he will have a big problem with you
Why is he still teaching? Worst math teacher I've ever encountered. He will be super angry if you're 3 minutes late. Don't make his class your first class of the day. Very unreasonable, he grades subjectively. On top of all, he DEMANDS to be VERY RESPECTED. Don't raise your voice when talking to him, bad things will happen. don't take his class!!
Annoying, finicky, imperious, and demanding describe this teacher. Kenyon is not the best teacher. Very uptight about attendance even though his instructions are vague about it. Says "uuhm" in a very annoying manner. This guy demands respect. Think twice before you use his stuff, voicing certain opinions, and breathing the same air around him.
incredibly irritable, bad tempered teacher.
Man these people, or this person writing all these bad report were probley the problem students in the class. He is a fair teacher, very clear in his work, as long as you come to class and be on time and take good notes you should be easily able to get an above 3.5!
Coming fall i will be taking another class from this instructor becuase the first time he was super helpful and explained the "how tos" really will. Its been 7 years since i took a math class and was afraid id do horrible but thanks to the instructor I didnt. Dont pay attention to the poor ratings this teacher is great. FYI i never heard him yell
Mike Kenyon is the best math instructor I've ever had. It is self explanatory if someone criticizes his expectations of college students acting like GROWNUPS. He is only irritable (and rarely at that)if a student hasn't yet learned the basics of respect. I found him kind and easy to learn from...I like math now!
man, these comments sound a lot like kenyon himself when he talks in the classroom. honestly, who write comments like this when he pass a math class??? these comments sound very much like paid adverti****t on tv. i can imagine kenyon sitting in his office and rating himself :) one comment from me though: if he hates you, you'll fail his class.
If there's an instructor that I recommend you don't take it's Mike Kenyon, he was a disappointment over there because he's pretty rude and insulting whenever you don't understand a problem in the course. Not worth your time and money.
AMAZING TEACHER! Def recommend him The bad comments about him that I've been reading honestly sound nothing like him. Someone said he gets angry if you came three minutes late?People come and go at anytime and he never gets upset. He never makes you feel bad for asking a lot of question, in fact he encourages it! The tests are very short and easy!
Kenyon made math so easy and simple! His tests were only about a page or two long and took about 20 minutes to complete. Homework was always reviewed before being turned it so there is no reason to get below a 3.0 in his class. Super easy and hes halarious!
BEST MATH TEACHER EVER! I'd do anything to to take math with him again. With his help, I actually understood what I was doing.
Literally best math teacher ever. He's funny, awesome, and very helpful with questions or anything you need. Take his math classes!!!
Mr. Kenyon explains things very well and from multiple angles I learned a lot in his class his first few tests were difficult be prepared for word problems but overall as long as your keeping up with your homework and using youtube you'll do good gives 3 late passes for homework. Grading system I wasn't a fan of.
Class is so easy. I had take home test. it's very easy class.
Great teacher, very funny, helpful, and intelligent. Passionate about math. Be open to his teaching, ask questions for clarification and you'll be fine. In the middle of this class and I love it!
Mike Kenyon is a great instructor. He is willing to help anyone who tries to succeed. His tests aren't that bad, although you will want to study hard and continue to study the material each day. If you do your work, complete everything, and do the best you can on tests, you are sure to pass.
I really enjoyed his class. Extremely helpful. Whenever I had questions, he took the time to explain and help me. His tests are super easy and straight to the point. Overall, very easy class and if you show up every day you should have no troubles.
Extremely helpful and nice. The tests are super easy and straight to the point. If you attend and pay attention you should have no troubles.
I took his 141 class, and it was much more clear than I had expected it to be, with it being college math and all. His lectures are long, but you will feel comfortable to ask questions and the material makes sense after you do the bookwork and the worksheet he passes out. Don't forget to review the material, and you will pass his class just fine!
Mr. Kenyon is a very helpful teacher as long as you try. You should definitely show up to class as his lectures will really help you grasp the material. The homework is pretty easy and he lets you use a note card on tests, so there really isn't a reason to not pass his class.
Mr Kenyon is a great teacher. There are worksheets due several times a week, but they are fairly short. His lectures cover everything very clearly. I found his tests fairly easy. He is helpful. Participation is not mandatory. The textbook is online.
If you want to take a good grade, you need to be on time for the class. He always give you a problem, and it is always given as soon as the class start. He also have extra class called S.I. session, and if you participate the class, you will always get full mark for Problem Sets. He explains things well. For exams, you may have note card.
I took this teach about 10 years ago. I know.. I'm just getting around to do this but he was awesome. He really helped me through my math difficulties. Its rare when a teach like this wants to help students as much as he did. I didn't deserve a passing grade but he knew I was really trying and I'm still grateful till this day.
Good teacher overall. Need to pay attention. Does not email power points with assignment for that day. Grades harshly but wants you to succeed. Has office hours where he will work through problems with you. Wants you to do well and is willing to help. Lots of homework. Keep on top of work or you'll be rushing to catch up.
He is a professor that takes time and makes sure the whole class understands the concept and keeps every small details in mind . if you are an active participator then its likely that you will score good in his class
I took his class at 7am and it was the most dreadful lesson I've ever taken in my life. Firstly no students should be awake by 7am and moreover we're talking about a lecture-heavy class here! Super slow with the words and gives lengthy explanation and keeps repeating the same topics over and over.
He is very good teacher. As a international student, I can clearly understand what he teaches. Homework is not hard.
Great professor. Detailed and organized lectures. Lots of homework but if u pay attention in class, u should be able to do it. 3 late passes available for submitting overdue homework. Some S.I sections (tutoring) per week. Exams including all materials covered in class and homework. He might be a little rude if you don't respect him.
He is very nice and respectful. He also brought supply calculators on test days. His homework are relatively challenging but the test was fine. A lot of extra points you can earn. Take him again!
Good professor. He gave back homework with the answers and work on it so you know how to do the stuff. The final was a portfolio, tests were take home. The class itself was very easy. He explained most of the content pretty well. Get help from classmates or TA if you're not sure on stuff. Lots of EC.
Homework handouts are very useful, tests are relevant to what is done on the handouts. Didn't have to read the book or do any book problems to pass, but I would recommend if you want to continue taking math classes. Unfortunately he hasn't taught 152 otherwise would've got out of my way to learn it with him.
Will go over any / every problem if need be to help you learn, always tries to motivate everyone, keep the mood high and the class interesting with even going into how to apply math / some history lessons of it all just for fun. Tests are average, just do the book problems. No group work usually. If anything, I'd title him The Philsopher of Math.
I found his lectures to be very hard to follow and lengthy. They were all over the place and I had to go home and relearn everything from the textbook many times. A good thing about him is that he allows a note card on the tests (there are 3 tests throughout the quarter). Also if you skip class you'll probably fail.
Mr. Kenyon has his humor. I enjoy his class a lot. His explanation is clear. Although the homework may seem overwhelming, however, the quizzes are based on basic concept only. He may seem not smiley, but he is a really nice instructor. He tried a lot of ways to make sure his students success. I got a 4.0 in his class.
Always available for questions, keeps the class interesting with games, several extra credit options were given throughout the course, on one occasion I turned homework in very early and he gave it back to me to fix answers to get a better score, he genuinely cares about how you learn and your progress in the class.
The teacher is nice, but gives out a ton of homework (Problem Sets and textbook homework). His lecture is a bit unorganized as he can jump around topics. You get a notecard for the tests, but the test is taken in class so if your a slow test taker you may run out of time.
it is really hard to understand his lecture and also boring. Exam papers are just super hard. Don't recommend if you're not a nerd.
Kenyon is a great calculus teacher. If you take notes and pay attention in class then it should be an easy class. He is almost always available to answer outside of class questions and you get extra credit passes/late homework passes. He also talks at a regular pace and doesn't go to quickly. The main "eh" thing is that the tests are a little long.
HUGE NO FROM ME. I thought I would be prepared for this class because I got a good grade in 141 the previous quarter, but boy was I wrong. Not only is his teaching style horrible (for me at least), but he's continuously rude to the students in class. Beginning of the quarter wasn't horrible, but by the end it was a nightmare. Ruined my GPA.
Usually I'm good at Math but his teaching style just didn't work for me. Be ready for lots of homework that can be lengthy at times, and his test din't match up well with what he told us to study.
He has an interesting teaching style that did not quite work for me. Seems like he explained more the thought process and the historical and "philosophical" aspect of concepts. So much time consuming homework, and with my three other time consuming classes (art and English especially!) it was just ugh!
He is so impolite to students, when you come to him in class or to his office, he is so rude, he always trying to show you that if you dont understand something, you are stupid. And also he gave tons of homework, really a lot. Dont take this professor!!!!
So bad professor, he always says and shows that you all are stupid, he is so mean to students, will never ever take his class again. Tests are also so hard.
Mr Kenyon is a decent Math instructor. He speaks kind of slowly but his lectures are clear and easy to understand. He is willing to help you with any problems you have with class. Beware though, he gives A LOT OF HOMEWORK. Like A LOT. Ive lost way too much sleep because of his class. Good instructor overall, but I will never take him again.
I feel like his class was great for the math-smart students, but too fast for me- maybe not his fault. I just wanna post here that 40% of the grade is hw, so if you take your paper assignments to the math learning center you can do well & boost your scores. Not much against him, but I did my most of my learning through the math tutors. No ec.
He never gives up extra credit and he is really tough in grading homework. And he never replies email so you do not know whether he has gotten email or not. Overall, never ever take his class again.
The difficulty of his lecture and his homework is not same level. You cannot write the homework without any help if you just listen his lecture.
An unrealistic amount of homework. I spend so much time doing homework, that I don't have any time to actually understand the math. If I get a problem wrong on the homework, I don't have any time to figure out why, because there are so many other problems to do. Also there is a group project. Do not recommend unless you have 10+hrs/week for hw.
It is a lecture heavy class, but that is just because it is a math class. You can't teach math without lecturing. His lectures make a lot of sense, and he is always ready to answer questions. Plus, you get notecards on tests!! Very nice if you are like me and can't memorize all the formulas.
the way this class is set up is nice and organized, the first few weeks i actually enjoyed his class. his lectures are confusing ( in my opinion ) and hes extremely rude. homework and tests are not the same whatsoever and he gives a lot. definitely will not have him again.
Enjoyable class, all is explained well. You get a notecard for every test to use with whatever you want on it. The textbook's free online and homework combined with lectures gives you all the information you need to be successful in this class. He seems like he cares and is funny, too. Homework may seem like a lot but is just enough to study from.
Kenyon is a great professor. Coming from a non math person I was able to do well in his class. His lectures are very clear and helpful. And dont be afraid to ask questions because he always answers them and makes sure you understand. Make sure to take lots of notes in class. And theclass has lots of homework, but it will help you learn theconcepts
HE WAS A GOOD PROF. BUT HE GRADES EVERY SINGLE HOMEWORK.
It is hard to understand the content he explains in class. He will touch it for one day and then he just never talks about it again. He gives out these problem sets that are no help at all because some of the problems that are on there we never cover in class. You mainly teach yourself in this class.
Lots of textbook reading but he is always available outside of class. He also gives well explained and simple answers if you ask for help which I loved because he didnt ask a rhetorical question to answer yours. The tests also have the same material as the homework so there were no surprises.
He is great, i got so lucky that i had calculus 151 with him and learnt a lot. his PDF explanation was clear enough to learn every thing, 100 % recommended
I think his homework was easy since he always provides some video for every question
Mr. Kenyon is amazing! He gives unlimited late passes on all the homework, and there's only two assignments due each week. He is incredibly helpful whenever you need it and you literally get to work on his tests for a week--they're like another assignment, and you can use any resources you want on them. Incredible teacher if you have hard classes.
He is very chill to talk to. We're graded by few assignments and tests are 30% of the grade so DO UR BEST. He does give u unlimited late passes for homework. Tests are not easy, but as long as you understand the material, you will pass. Work hard for this class n you will do good! Definitely recommend taking his class!
Although he relied on online texts and youtube videos, at least his clear criteria for assignments, instructions, and grades were really clear and helpful. You might need the ability to learn by yourself but if you commit time, you'll get through. Plus, the deadline for tests and assignments was flexible
I took Mr. Kenyon's online calc 1 class. A great class to take if you don't mind watching videos. Instead of class over zoom, he's live on discord an hour a day. Each week he sends emails reminding you when homework is due. There are 1-2 homework assignments a week, each about 20 problems. Provides loads of resources and responds quickly.
Overall, take him while he is online! Honestly for an online class, he is the best. He sends emails daily about the topic we are learning at 4am and also provides explanations per unit. Just make sure you watch Organic chemistry tutor and go to tutoring center. There is no late for homework and exams you can go to tutoring center. Overall, take him
Easy class. Everything is on WAMAP except for the exams. Kenyon gives out weekly homework, unlimited late passes for homework, and three take-home exams (gives a week to finish). If you can, take this class ASAP!
