Michael is amazing! He really cares about his students and goes out of his way to help you understand. He's young, and therefore acts cool. Definately hope he teaches more classes next term!
Michael is an amazing teacher and is by far the most interesting Science teacher i've ever had. He is very clear, fair and keeps science interesting with his teaching style. His exams are fair, just read the text and study your notes. He is young, cool and really helpful if you have questions. I would take him again for sure!
i dont like him! thinks hes so cool but he is so annoying and he just talks the entire class in a monotone that puts me to sleep. his notes are a ton of powerpoints that you have to print. i would not take this class with him!
He is a good prof. He uses alot of powerpoint but material all comes from the text which makes u have to read alot less. He gives good examples and likes to help to make physiology interesting. He talks alot though lol! He is very helpful and approachable though and for a young prof he really knows his stuff. He's better then other profs I've had.
michael is a good teacher! he really sticks with the book. his quizzes and tests are very diffiicult. you MUST know his notes and pretty much ever detail of the mandatory chapters!
I liked him. He seems to really love the stuff. That guy is hilarious at times...he makes the class laugh.
I liked him. He did a good job and is well-organized. Busy guy which seems to juggle it all. He loves it when questions are asked and the atmosphere in the classroom is quite informal. 830am class sucks though! Too early!
His tests are EXTREMELY DIFFICULT!!!..but he has very clear and concise notes that are really helpfull..way better than the text book. you can tell he really loves biology. he get a little off topic in class though..and that makes some people confused when it comes to study for exams since you dont know what he really wanted you to know. overall he
This guy is young. Loves biology though. He loves to talk about diabetes and insulin or something. I liked him.
Michael is a very good teacher, and loves biology. He makes the class informative, and interesting. He will always tell you what you need to know and what you don't from the text. Awesome teacher!
Bio 12 not a prereq but should be, hard if you haven't taken any bio but doable. Quizzes are crazy hard but tests are easier (thanks Mike!). Not the most approachable or helpful but his slides and notes really help summarize what you DO need to know. Don't waste your money on the textbook! Pick up Barron's Anatomy & Physi the easy way, much better.
Kiraly is smart. Too smart to teach an entry level A and P class. He can't "dumb it down" He does everything by PP notes. Don't buy the text, buy the DVD that comes with it (it's amazing for some of the tough stuff like the action potentials in the heart) anything you don't get in the class, youtube it. His lack of clarity is frustrating at best...
This is a challenging class. Michael tried to make it understandable. 1 midterm, 2 small quizzes worth 5% to give you a heads up. I would recommend studying HIS notes. He posts the PP notes online. What I noticed is that the tests reflect the PP notes more than the actual text. Nice class but too early in the morning! The midterm, final were easier than the quizzes. He seems to be the only choice available at cap for human A&P at the moment.
i have him now. he tries to help everyone out.
Michael seems like he really wants his students to do well. I wish he taught BIOL 111! (not along side with Robert). Anyways, totally recommend him as a prof :)
Clear, concise powerpoint notes. He's a funny guy and makes class interesting. He teaches off pp's he posts online. Textbook is a complete waste to get.. so don't get it. He wants everyone to do well, and when people dont, it disappoints him. Recommended for sure.
I liked him. His notes are good but his discussions and expectations are difficult. A good teacher and I would tell you to take his class.
Nice guy but doesn't explain anatomy in great detail as much as he does physiology. Textbook is TOO EXPENSIVE: $270 almost as expensive as the class itself
Super helpful, very interesting prof. You can't be lazy in this class though. Keep up with the readings, it's a lot of memorization, which he can't help you with in class. But it is easy stuff, you just gotta do it. I don't know how other people are saying you don't need the book, and then complaining he's unclear. I am relying on it a lot.
I just had his quiz today! It was so so. You can tell he loves physiology but he seems bored when teaching about fish and lizards. Cool guy though. He runs a brewery at night!
Interesting guy, went off topic which was confusing. Expected alot for a beginner course. Midterm was hard. The marks of most value were on topics least discussed !?? Don't recommend unless you have some background in Biology. Nice enough prof. though.
he rambles on way to much about useless things!
He drives me nuts! He is arrogant and expects a lot... however his lectures leave you engaged and are interesting. He defiantly is brilliant just wish he wouldn't be so full of himself. Its quite distracting.
I have him now. He is really good.
This professor is the second best teacher I've ever had. He's funny and informative, and knows what he's talking about. Study for his tests though.....I just had one and it was brutal.
Interesting dude. He loves what he teaches but doesn't seem to love teaching. He goes through the material very fast, gives a whole lot of information, and expects a lot of work on your part. While exams are lecture based, if you don't study the text you will fail. I recommend him, but be prepared to work HARD.
Mike was an awesome teacher, super helpful without being pushy. His best interest is in the students doing well but he won't give out marks. Show an interest to learn and he will love that. One of my first profs and he was awesome.
Mike is one of the best profs I've had. At first his class is intimidating but you'll soon learn that he tells you almost all material that will be on the exams. His exams are lecture based, unless you have trouble with the material no need to buy the text book. Since he tells you everything about the exams in class I would recommend attending.
The course was taught by 2 profs, & when he taught us the majority of us got between the 40-65% range. When Paul taught the second section the majority of us got between 75-95% range.Test were extremely difficult because he did not cover it enough in class and it was not based on the textbook. He includes relevant examples that wasted class time.
Very poor lecture presentation (pretty sure he is just winging it). Tests are not remotely related to topics covered in class. Classes often deteriorate into an open forum for dumb questions. Although probably very intelligent, Kiraly frequently presents his opinion as fact, and he is often wrong. A fact checker during lectures is needed.
I thought he was a good lecturer. He was much more interesting to listen to than other profs I've had.
I really enjoyed his class. He is a good teacher and helped me to understand things that the book couldn't. He talks fast though and you have to write alot. Too early of a class!
I'M TAKING HIS 112 CLASS THIS TERM AND WILL TAKE HIS 113 CLASS IN JANUARY. I LIKE THE WAY HE TEACHES, HOWEVER AT TIMES HE TALKS FAST AND EXPECTS YOU TO FIGURE OUT WHAT WRITE. HE'S ALWAYS TAKEN THE TIME TO HELP ME WHEN VISITING DURING OFFICE HOURS.
his is an awesome professor. He really cares about his students and doing his best to help students to understand material better. really enjoy his class even though I have 3 hours class with him once a week, I don't feel tired or bored after 3 hours.
He might be a knowledgeable person but he is not a good teacher. He doesn't have the ability to transfer his knowledge. He is very disorganized and there are questions in his tests which are out of course material. He does not accept criticisms.I would love to take Biochemistry for the next semester but I won't because he is the only instructor.
Be prepared to work hard. Try to get to know him well. Michael does not spoon-feed students in class but takes as much time as needed to help students understand during office hours. Great professor if you are ready to work, but not recommended if you are not.
He went quick and taught in a variety of ways. When I struggled and visited him during office hours he helped me and gave me suggestions on how to do better. He prepared us well for the final. Overall I thought he was great but I wouldn't miss a class because you miss a ton of information.
AWFUL. Let me start by saying I ended this course well with a good mark because I killed myself night and day studying something you'll have to commit to if your taking kiralys class. He speeds through lectures leaving you no time to keep up wit notes. He is pompous and inconsiderate, so dont bother e-mailing him, HE WILL NEVER EMAIL YOU BACK.
Worst teacher ever! His tests dont even reflect his lectures. Multiple choice is his favorite torture tool beware you will never know what hit you!
you can tell he cares and he is a good communicator and story teller and makes the material exciting. this guy makes you look forward to lecture. especially compared to the other atrocious lecturers like the ones I had a UBC. his mc tests are hard though.
Dr. Kiraly is a great prof! He did a great job explaining the lecture material. His exam questions are fair, but if you dont study you will fail. Over all a great prof.
A great guy!
Speed lecturer. If you miss class, your fine for material as long as you read. You just may miss that he omit a whole section. If you don't pre-read, you won't keep up. He rarely answers emails and will not apologize for it regardless of how it affected you. Everything I've learned in this class was from the book;not Kiraly. Judgy guy...
Come on, guys.. Let's be fair. Think about how much he has to cover in two terms. Of course he skips some sections, but you are responsible for that. Read, go online, do your part. And if there is anything you don't understand, go see him. He WILL help you. I don't think he needs to answer those email questions if answers are in the book, btw.
Mike is the worst professor I have ever had a Cap! He is condescending, dismissive and rude in both his office and during class. He frequently makes mistakes on his exams that result in students losing unnecessary marks. In the labs he loves to tell the class how much better he is at what we have to do! He provides no grading criteria for reports!
Okay prof. Spends way too much time on the cell at start of semester in an human biology class and then skips sections during the final weeks. Midterm is easy. FInal is horrible. Study his slides. He tells you where to focus during lectures. Do not skip class!
Michael tries to make lecture interesting by relating course material. His tests are wordy - but if you work hard and STUDY you will do fine, just like any course. There is a lot of content in BIOL 112 in general, and he tries his best to cover all of it but if you do not study then you will not pass. STUDY and you will rock it!
Mike is probably one of the best profs I have ever had. Show up, pay attention, and do the work- you should pass no problem. I expected this class to be difficult and I can say with Mike's excellent explanations and easily understandable examples, I did well. Awesome!
All the content needed to cover for his class is online, for your own use. So class attendance is not needed, but always recommended. Very disorganized lecture - skims through the notes by talking about it only so in class note taking is minimal. Only goes into depth for the more important topics (e.g., endocrine/nervous system).
Honestly I didn't open the textbook once, everything on the exams he covers in class. But if you don't show up you won't do well. It is a very intensive course, but if you actually put the time and effort in, you'll do well. Watch for pre exam quizzes.
I love the content of this course! lectures are very heavy and you cover a ton of material super fast. I didn't open the textbook once and all of his test questions he covers in class. He prepares you well for exams and the two quizzes (before the exams) Review after every class to make studying easier. He is hard to get a hold of for extra help
Mike knows his topic and he loves it. Pay attention and ask questions. He has gone out of his way to make notes for his students so they do not have to scramble to write too much down. The textbook is fantastic. It comes with an online study resource --use it!-- There are practice tests, labelling, fill-in-the-blank, MP3 & videos. Fantastic course.
just no
Kiraly knows his stuff, but he has so much material to cover throughout the semester that he has to move FAST. Don't choose him as a prof or take this class for that matter if you aren't prepared to put serious study time into it.
Unorganized, and sometimes broad. Inconsistencies with the slides he provides online vs inclass. Tells us not to worry about some slides(then why are they there?) causes confusion. Lectures all over the place, and not clear at all. He makes a course that is already heavy harder. Be prepared to live in the library to get a decent grade.
I absolutely LOVED this professor. I took 5 courses with him and received four A+'s and one one A-. Whatever his teaching style was it worked for me. He's brilliant, doesn't beat around the bush, and will always try to answer questions to the best of his ability. He is opinionated, so sensitive people beware. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
I'm enjoying the class quite a bit but it's hard. He expects that you keep up and read the notes he prepares for you ahead of time. He's brutal on tests but I'm doing really well. I find his class more interesting then others. He has teachers let's though. Usually the people that are always in class and at the front. His jokes suck.
Amazing prof. But you need to work hard to get a good grade and there's a lot of studying.
This is a prof you should try to have for any biology course he teaches. I walk out of class having learned something. Many teachers brush over the topics but this one is a real gem, he tells interesting/hilarious and relevant stories, and is truly passionate about the subject. He's a funny guy and a fair marker. Tells you exactly what to focus on
This was a course I had to take in the summer. Material was covered really quickly but kiraly has alot of energy and make it fun. I would love to take more classes with him. hopefully nutrition with him in the fall
A&P is needed for health sciences and nursing. you simply have to take this course. Mike is awesome. I didn't think anyone could like physiology. he cracks himself up with jokes that noone seems to get though. nerd alert.
I"m not sure I like or hate him but hes a good teacher. He does try and makes notes which are amazing. You still need to read the book to get an A but he doesn't ask questions on material that was not in his notes. ever. Totally fair. I ton of material in this course. Take Kiraly if you can.
I had him for 3 classes so far. He still can't remember my name but he sure remembers his A&P. I think this guy loves beer a lot. He drives a sweet ass Steam Whistle truck.
This guy is brutally hard, but is actually a good teacher. There is a tone of material to cover in these courses and he expects you to know some of the concepts and a lot of new words. Make sure you study your endocrine stuff
Most unorganized Professor. slides are heavy with unnecessary contents and creates extra pressure. Will never take this prof.
Exams are beyond hard! He doesnt even bother to read the exam questions beforehand. Just puts some repetitive super challenging questions together and asks you to take the test!!!!! Thats it
He is not a very resposible teacher! in fact, me and a lot of my classmates find him very lazy. he does not bother to clarify about quizzes and homework and expects you to know everything. skips a lot of the slides . very UNORGANIZED
Well, His lecture is pretty much copy and paste of the textbook, and so do his quizzes and exams. His lectures were horrible. I would rather read the textbook than listen to his lecture. So really taking this course was waste of my money really, cuz I have never listen to his lecture. Just read your textbook, and don't bother attending his class.
I mean... if all you going to say is "you should read this on the textbook and memorize these!", what really is the point of having lecture? With this horrible instructor, this course felt more like challenge exam than the proper course, as I have to study myself without any support from lectures and the stupid prof.
I took this course online and it was good. This prof doesn't let you miss quizzes though.
I've only been taking his course for a month but he is really good. I know of students that really find him difficult but he's an amazing teacher and more or less lays it all out for you. Lots of work though and tests aren't as easy as some instructors. Funny guy with lots of stories. If you actually wanna get in to nursing take him.
Sitting here with my friend struggling........I will Zoom him to get some help. He made muscles so cool. I hope to have him next year. He teaches at KPU sometimes and you can take upper level courses there. He's easier than the other KPU instructors.
A very reasonable person. A great instructor.
This prof can make anatomy and physiology really interesting. I've had him a for a few courses and he is good.
This is not an easy class. You have to put in the work because Mike expects a lot of detail and his tests are HARD, but you will be rewarded if you apply yourself. In class he's hilarious. He's a storyteller who makes the content very interesting. But I found it hard to concentrate during his online pre-recorded lectures, as they were very lengthy.
My friends and me are with him now. He does a good job of making a year 1 course intersting. I will take him in the fall.
Michael might be the best teacher at Cap. He is hard but does prepare you well. Work load is hard all term but exams aren't too hard. He really likes medecine.
Super busy and takes a day or two to get back to emails but he will make online office spots for you if you just ask. Don't miss classes or he will be less helpful.
I missed my quiz and he didn't offer a make up. I'm wish I could have written the quiz. Don't try excuses with him cause he wont listen.
Skip class and you won't pass. He does teach well though.
Had Mikel this summer and thought he was very good. He gave us very good lecture notes and recorded his lectures so we could watch them when ever we want. He was a good teacher.
Mike is great teacher and explains things pretty well. I had him in the summer and will try with him in the fall while taking a bigger number of courses. Great guy!
So far this course has been alot of work but really interesting. I think Mike is a great prof. Very supportive and knowledgeable. Funny stories too.
Mike is a super nice teacher. He actually cares about his students, and you can always pop into his office hours as well! HOWEVER, omg, his lecture slides (100+ pages) are actually hell get ready to put in the hours of studying to do well in his class. He's a very nice marker, and his tests reflect the content taught in class but get ready to read.
He is by far one of the most unpredictable profs here at cap. He is very unorganized and his tests are beyond hard. He is a kind person but a inconsistent prof. He says trust me and gives out details about our exams or tests but when the day comes everything he said was not true and the test contained content he said wont be there.
I enjoyed taking this class with this prof. Lectures were fun and easy to follow. Be prepared to memorize a lot but you should be able to get a good mark if you attend class and study lots.
One of the greatest profs ever. Had him last year for BIOL 112 & 113. These classes are no joke, and will probably be the hardest courses I'll ever take hahaha. But it is so incredibly interesting, and Mike is the best prof for the class. He makes incredibly complex topics simple and has a funny story to combine to everything he teaches.
i took him twice for 109 and 112 his lectures are quite heavy with lots of information but you can tell he knows his stuff test are reasonably hard so you better know your stuff smaller unit tests with a midterm and a final with a few free participation marks sprinkled in solid teacher
He's the cutest prof and is a science fanatic, loved all his lectures
Michael is a science enthusiast. Ask him any biology-related questions, and he will not let you leave the class without an answer. His explanation is fascinating. He makes sure you understand the concept, not just memorize the text. His quizzes and exams are educational, objective-related, and to the point. He is so keen on helping.
The best prof ever!!!!
If you just put in the work, you will get a good mark
Super interesting lectures, very helpful to attend. Gave great advice on how to study. No final exam prep or outline. Mike was an amazing professor who I wish I could take again. Gave several opportunities to boost your grade through an easy quiz, bonus marks, and adjusting how much some questions were worth based on how people did. Easy marker.
