The Mad Russian!!! Knows more about vodka than about how to teach math!
Do the pre-test review and this class is a breeze!
Only go on pre test days, as long as you can do them you will be fine.
As long as you understand the test reviews, this class is great.
Test reviews help out a lot. Do well and you don't have to take the final
Put in an effort, he will help all he can. He made it easy for Calculus
HARD to understand, I thouhgt I was in a german class instead of calc. withdraw
He is awesome. Gotta go to class and cant be late. But worth the effort
EASY!!! You won't really learn anything, but you will get good grade!!!
only thing worse than not understanding him, talking or writing, is nose picking
DO NOT TAKE HIM FOR ANYTHING. HIS ACCENT IS TERRIBLE. YOU WILL FAIL. WITHDRAW!!
Gives a review before the test, which is easy, but makes the test much harder
You get used to his accent, he's a genius, tests are way harder than reviews,
No Comments
decent teaching style even if accent is hard to understand sometimes
Nice guy, helpful, good teacher, willing to help, knows his stuff... take him!!
If you go to class and try to do the homework it is and easy A.
little hard to understand, good teacher, knows his stuff, kinda hard tests...
Very easy teacher. Tests are just like the review.
Go to class and do some homework, easy A.
Pretty cool guy, tough to follow in lecture due to accent, brilliant
Accent is a little thick at times. He gives extra credit to the quickest
He makes calc seem easy.Do homework & listen in class & you will be fine.
Doesn't take roll or collect homework :) Tests aren't too hard. THICK accent.
Very helpful, knows his stuff. After get used to accent, class becomes clear. Good sense of humor, eager to help.
Not a very good teacher and if you are bad at understanding accents then don't take him.
You will get an easy A .. but you won't learn nothing ... nothing
One of the most confusing Teachers I've ever encountered. His english is very poor. All tests short answer. and hard
You get used to the accent and he has got to be the best teacher to take Calc from. He doesn't waste time with BS stuff, and he makes it make sense. Most classes only last about 30 min. Gives plenty of extra credit too.
Thick accent, but if you take notes and do homework, passing should be no problem. The tests are like the reviews, but a bit harder. Need to study a LOT for this class or you fail.
very thick accent, but still a good teacher. Tests are harder that reviews. Gives A LOT of extra credit and curves on tests. No roll, but likes you better if you come to class. Doesnt collect homework, and classes are very short. Good teacher.
Hard to understand at first, but becomes easier as time passes. Participate in classes, ESPECIALLY on review days and will receive extra credit. No need to do the homework or even buy the book. Gives you the test on review days. Study the Review test!
Has a thick accent, but a very good math teacher- gives extra credit for participation- very nice- Best math teacher i've had
Tries to make it interesting w/ hist, very smart, gives points for participation, makes calc easy! gives examples just like whats on exam!
This class was so easy. The review is identical to the exam. This is a hard subject, but I made an A in his class. His tests are much easier then Burnap's tests. He is VERY hard to understand, but it does not matter. You will like him
He can be difficult to understand with his thick accent but he presents the concepts in a clear easy way. He has been the best math teacher I have ever had. You can trust that what he says is how it is. Even I could get an A
has great reviews for test...hes very generous with his grading
This class was sooo easy!! Anyone who wants to take an easy Calc class should take this one. He has an accent, but after a while you can understand. He even gives out bonus points to add onto the test. And his review for the test is just like the test!!
He was very helpful and friendly. But check your tests, I actually got credit back one time because his TA graded my test wrong.
He's a great teacher and will do anything to help his students who put some effort into it.
very good teacher.. when teaching, has clear points.. review for exams is indentical to exams.. if participate in class, he gives extra credit to entire class.. the lab for this class is a waste of time.. nice guy
This professor has a very thick russian accent but is overall one of the best math professors i've had yet... will give extra credit and review sessions are exactly like the exam.. and will also let students with an "A" average be exempt from the final
Accent is a little thick but he makes up for it. He makes sure you understand all the work and he actually makes an effort to see that everyone improves from test to test. I would take him again if the chance arises. Sometimes gets off topic for a minute with his stories.
pretty much understood half the things he said, doesn't explain well, does give examples though. reviews for test, but really don't think about asking a question...you should've learned all this stuff in high school.
a lil hard to understand, but good teacher, tests are exactly like the reviews, sit towards the front and he'll prolly give you extra points...no attendence, 3 tests and common final, drops lowest of all 4 tests
Hard to understand but stick with it and you'll find out this is the easiest Mathematics professor out there. He's very helpful and understanding, and if you participate he'll give you 4-5 extra points on tests. Sit up front to understand him better. I am a horrible math student and passed it with a B.

Horrible. Cannot understand a word he is saying, and he is rude. If you are 10 minutes late for class on hour and 20 minute class day, he makes you leave and wont let you stay. Stay away from him. Gives you no info on tests, what to study for, grading scale, or even exam dates until 2 classes before. So frustrating trying to hear him.
he teaches the class in a way that makes it very very difficult to come to class. unclear and either gets mad when you ask questions, or doesn't fully explain them. do not come to class late, he'll call you out in front of everyone and make you leave. assigns hw, doesn't check it, only allows 2 questions on hw before starting class. easy-ish tests

Klibanov knows his stuff but has a difficult time communicating it. If you are good at math and can teach yourself alot of the stuff, it is not that bad. if you need a good teacher to be able to understand it then take someone else. Very difficult to understand.
Very hard to understand at first, but you get used to his accent. He gives four exams and he will drop the lowest. I only disagree with how he has a student grade the tests. I did come out with a B in the class and was sure I had a C. So I cant really complain.
likes to brag about his degrees and other russian crap, but otherwise his tests are completely based on his reviews. he grades w/ no mercy, but stick through it and he'll give u a good grade. i thought i was going to get a d, but he gave me a c
He is russian so at first he is hard to understand, but gets easier as time progresses. He only has 3 tests and one final. If you have an A in the class you dont have to take the final. If not, your lowest test grade of all 4 is dropped. Very easy over all.
Unless your a kiss-ass or sit in front of the class to answer questions and participate I don't reccomend him. If you do speak up in class he gives up to 7 points on the following exam if he likes you. Just laugh at his jokes and interject comments. Very hard to understand (russian) and doesn't help very much.
The class was the easiest calc class that i have ever taken go to class the day before the review and if u can teach urself than your good the test is the same thing as the review just different numbers, also the final was like only 10 questions . Its an EASY A
He really was thorough in what he covered. He was pretty hard to understand at certain times, but was a nice guy granted you didn't act like an idiot in class. If you went to class half the time and for review before the exam, then you should not doubt make an A. Very easy class.
He doesn't teach concepts, just how to solve the problems that will be on the test. If that's good enough for you, go for it. He does give a review of exactly what problems will be on the test. This means the tests are very easy, but for some reason many students still struggled. He wants students to speak up, but he is harsh when they do.
After you get used to his accent I think the class was easy. As long as you come to all the sessions and take all the notes your good. His reviews are exactly like the test. Easy A.
his reviews are just like the tests? haha is that a joke how does that matter if u cant understand how he teaches it. Yea you have the review answers but u have to teach urself. All the people that got an A already took either calc or precalc so they already know the subject. dont take this guy b/c he cant speak english, after a while it gets worse
Before I say anything else - TAKE THIS CLASS! Now let me explain. OK, so the guy is Russian and can be hard to understand. No big deal. His homework is not a heavy load. He gives 3 tests, 10 problems each. Before the test he gives a review of what will be on the test, including 10 probs that are EXACTLY like the ones on the test. This is an easy A!
TAKE THIS CLASS! an absolute easy A! review is EXACTLY like the 10 problems that are on the exam. If you do not take this you are missing out. he also gives out pts to add to your exam grade if u participate. nice guy!!
Russian accent is a bit thick, but if you go to class you'll learn it fast. If you participate, you get extra credit on your test. He works on so many problems from the book, by the time you get out of the class you would know how to do every single problem he assigns to homework. My advice: Participate get extra credit, and go to class.
TAKE THIS CLASS!!! I am not good at math, but I received an A. He gives 3 tests (10 questions each) and if you get an A on all 3, you are exempt from the final. He gives a review before every test that is just like the test, but with different numbers. He does many practice problems in class too. Easy A!
Pretty simple class. He just goes over problems from the book the entire class. He will give you extra credit if you participate, and does a review for every test. The reviews are somewhat like the exams but not exact problems, optional final. Rude and heavy accent but decent class.
TAKE HIM! I haven't gotten an A in a math class since middle school and I ended Klibanov's class with a 99. Just go to class, ESPECIALLY the day of the review. Answer questions in class! Tests are just like the reviews. His accent isn't as difficult to understand as people say. I highly recommend him!
EASY A!!!!!! take this professor. He gives 3 tests through out the semester each 10 questions and they are exactly the same 10 questions he gives before the exam day. No HWs required just for your own benefits. :)
His accent was hard to understand at first, but there are 3 tests during the semester, if the average is an A you don't have to take the final. Every class before a test he reviews problems for the test, which are pretty similar to the test questions themselves...uses the book for sample problems and homework, that is just to help keep up.
Easy A. Yes, there is homework but we're in college now and it is what to expect. It will help, I promise. He explains things well and if you don't understand, he will go over it again. Go to class the day before the test for a review (which is exactly like the test). Take him.
He's a little tough to understand due to a thick accent, but it was the best college math class I've every been in. If you can get passed the accent you'll get what you put into this class.
This Professor was EASY. Never in my life have i got an A in a calculus class. As long as you do the reviews that he gives then you will easily pass the class. Accent is tough but all you need to pay attention to is the study guides. No need to go to class it's pointless. Only go before test day and study that review. Easy A
It was a class that wasn't too difficult to do well in. You don't need to attend unless you really want to. The instructor is whatever about class, so it's pretty chill.
He's got bit of a tough accent to understand the first few times, but he goes over the topics pretty well. Attendance and homework aren't mandatory, but it really helps if you need a little bit of extra practice. His tests are pretty straight forward; you have a review session, and the test the next class period. Overall, he's a good professor.
Klibnov has a thick accent and can be hard to understand at times. He will give out random extra credit points to those who answers questions in class. Don't be afraid to speak out. He will will go over study guide with you prior to the exam. Exam only consists of 10 questions. Homework will be assigned but he will not pick it up.
He Gives 3 tests and a final, all equal, lowest test grade or final will be dropped. If you are good at Calc it's an easy A with almost no effort. Hard to understand. Rants about Math history from time to time, just nod your head and pretend to laugh. Random extra credit, but not often. was done with course material a month before finals.
I really enjoyed this Calculus class. If you work hard, do your assigned homework (not mandatory), and show up for review you will easily receive an A in this class. It will take you a couple of class meetings to get use to his accent, but believe me you will. Good Luck :)
By far the easiest math course I have ever taken, makes it super easy to understand how to do problems. He has a thick, Russian accent that some students have trouble understanding, so I wouldn't take his course if you have trouble with accents. He is quiet so sit up front.
Take this professor! Easy A!!! Tests are literally 10 questions, and he reviews the test the class before by reading off the test and changing the numbers in the problems. HW not collected, and really not necessary to do. Yes, he has a heavy accent, but dont let that scare you. Sit up front, and DO NOT withdraw! Def would recommend to friends!!!
Don't let his accent scare you! It may be hard to understand at first but he writes everything down and you get used to his accent after a while. The homework isn't collected, class always ends between 20-45 minutes early, and he drops lowest test grade. Take him if you can
He is the best! you cannot possibly fail this class, He has a typical Russian humor so it's hard to understand his jokes sometimes
He is a good teacher, a little hard to understand, but you will pick up on things eventually. I have him now for Differential equations, but he is a little harder in that class
Nothing like he was before. Took him for Calculus 3 and he was great and just like the reviews said. This semester I took him for Differential equations and he is terrible. Teaches you one form and bring a completely different form in the exams expecting you to know how to solve it out of thin air. If you want to understand diffi Q, don't take him.
His test are only 10 questions but the class before the test he goes over 10 question and they are the same questions that are on the test but the numbers are changed. Attendance is not mandatory but make sure you show up for the review. doesn't collect hw; I highly suggest you take him.
Very thick Russian accent, but as long as you show up and pay attention, you will pass. Exams come directly from the optional homework assignments and examples done in lecture. However he also has a study guide that he gives during the class before the test, as well as the answers to it. Very funny guy. Lets class out early majority of the time.
I was worried about taking calculus because my last math class was college algebra, taken 2 years prior. I hardly ever went to class, and made an A. Show up to the review sessions before the tests and know the material. 3 tests and final, drops lowest test, I HIGHLY recommend.
This guy is awesome! I finished his class with a 98. His class consists of 4 tests. Three during the semester and one Cumulative final. He gives you the exact outline of the test the class before. I only attended test days and the review days. If you need to take Calc 2 I wouldn't take him. Easy A, but wont learn much.
Sit in the front and participate you'll get a extra credit. Pay attention to reviews for test and you should be able to ace every test with no effort. Done right this can be the easiest class on your schedule no matter what class you are taking. No homework just test. Easiest A I've ever gotten. Take him
His accent made lots of students walk out the first day. But DONT. Sit up front and pay attention. You will get used to his accent. His 3 tests are 10 questions each. He has a review day where he gives you 10 questions but changes the #s for the test. He grades pretty easily. He gives EC to kids who participate. No hw. Lets class out early often.
Failed Calc last semester with an F this semester made an A. Most classes are 30-45 minutes long MAX for a 75 minute class. Sit in the front row and use the solution manual to answer questions you'll get extra credit. Tests are 10 Q's and so is his review he just changes the #'s for the test. 3 tests drops lowest worth 30% each. Final is 40%.
You only have 4 tests and he drops the lowest. He has review days before the day of the tests. Only 6- 10 questions on the tests. As far as learning the material, I learned nothing. Taking notes is horrible. Sit in the front because he has very strong accent. Be prepared to attend tutoring. Doesn't keep you in class for that long though.
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS IF YOU DO NOT UNDERSTAND RUSSIAN. His accent is so heavy that you can't even understand the numbers he says. His handwriting is terrible. He mumbles every word and talks very low. If you have to take 1120 pick Prof Reiter!
His accent is horrible. It's a VERY DEEP Russian accent. His test are graded by student graders and if you get the answer wrong, the whole answer is wrong. You have to go up to him to get partial credit. No homework and he writes on the chalkboard which you can barely read. Majority of the class only shows up for the review.
If someone so much as moves a chair or coughs you will not understand what he is saying. The accent is very thicc and he talks ever so softly. He sounds like a teacher on Charlie Brown. Material isnt hard but find someone else to take Calc with.
Has a very thick accent and is very hard to understand. Also, his notes are not readable. Be prepared to teach yourself. The only BIG plus is that his review for the exams are almost identical to his actual exams. Also, drops the lowest test grade. Takes attendance randomly.
3 exams 1 gets dropped, and a final, equal weight. No attendance grade no graded hw no textbook. 8-10 Q exams, gives VERY similar practice Qs. Handwriting/accent is tricky but he will always clarify when asked. He will teach/test you on CORE examples rather than trick you with much harder homework/test Qs. study the practice exams by heartA
The accent is tough, but you don't have to attend class. He uploads the lectures online and you can teach yourself the whole class. It is not hard at all if you study once every couple of weeks.
He has a terrible Russian accent which makes understanding him near impossible. His writing is illegible which makes the notes almost useless. Along with he doesn't explain anything so you have to self teach yourself the material. Also, there is no calculator use. DON'T TAKE THIS PROFESSOR.
The accent is thick, but you can get used to it. Took his class online during 'Rona, and he is not very tech savvy, but I will not blame him for that. Lectures were short due to online format, but he would answer questions whenever asked. His notes often have typos. 3 tests and an exam which are essentially his study reviews which is nice. Easy A.
Does not care much for his students, extremely rude and unhelpful. Contacting him is a bad experience and doesn't really seem interested in helping students,
This was one of the best professors I have had in college. He has a slight accent but trust me youll get used to it. Lectures are usually pretty short and he gives reviews for every test including the final. Theres three midterms and a final but he drops your lowest midterm. Overall great teacher and he makes calc 3 a breeze.
This was probably the easiest math class I've taken, the only things that go into the final grade are 2 tests (there were 3 tests, lowest was dropped) and the final. Doesn't check homework or attendance, class was always over at least like a half hour early. Because of this, though, it is easy to slack off and not understand the content
Attendance & homework were not mandatory, and the only grades are exams (lowest gets dropped). He lets class out early & gives extra credit for participation. Exams are exactly like the study guides he goes over in class. It is an easy class & requires little attention to pass, but if you pay attention you can get a great understanding. Nice prof.
The high rating for this professor is misleading. He is very easy, no homework or attendance. But if you are actually interested in learning the material than I would recommend choosing another professor.
Not a great teacher but really easy. Makes study guides just like the tests. Study for those and you can do great. Gives extra credit if you go up to the board and answer questions, which is how he teaches every class.
Graded on 3 tests+final throughout the semester, one test can be replaced. Tests are EXACTLY like the study guides with diff numbers. The easiest class I've ever taken. Sometimes gave heavy extra cred for participation Has a heavy accent and is pretty quiet. Don't take if you want to understand the material, take if you want an easy grade.
Took his class for my graduate program, didn't understand a thing. His accent was very thick and the language barrier made it difficult to ask questions. He wants you to get an A but the whole time you feel like you're failing because he talks as though you understand at the same level he is. One of the most stressful classes ever.
