He has the uncanny ablility to present a subject, which only exists to confuse, with such vividness and clearity. He tests only what he teaches and so if one attends his class and takes notes then one will be able to pass with ease.
The best class I've ever had...by far. Krogman is a wonderful and interesting professor.
Funny teacher! Makes tons of jokes, makes the class fun. Also already has a book of notes for the class so you dont' have to take too many
Easily the best teacher I've ever had. Sparked my interest in Philosophy. Very good sense of humor, always making funny comments. Lectures were very coherent and easy to follow, especially with the textbook of notes for the class. I highly recommend Dr. Krogman.
The best Philosophy teacher I've ever had and I went on to major in Philosophy.
Didn't care for the class one way or another. I felt professor was talking in tongues most of the time. Very humerous and outgoing gentleman who is willing to work with you. Class was lots of fun. Made a "B" though I honestly have no idea what I learned.
Fun class could be interesting at times. May be the easiest class on campus.
I had him for ethics. He's a bit strange; in a nerdy way. Tests are easy if you can explain your answer to his liking. Don't try to bs your way through, he has a doctorate in philosophy so he's got everyone beat in that area. If you regurgitate his notes on the test you will get an A.
Very enthusiastic about the subject, and always open minded
Fav teacher of all time.
excellent teacher, really nice and funny. i wish i was in one of his classes this semester but i couldnt fit it in my schedule. krogman is probably my favorite teacher ever. he used to be a clown while he was in grad school how cool is that. hes one of the teachers i think it would be cool to like hang out with or something.
Very helpful and always answers questions clearly if you have a problem understanding. Tests are usually pulled right from test bank word for word. If you crack the book and attend class you'll make an A. Makes Philosophy interesting which can be difficult to do.
Dr. Krogman is undoubtedly the best professor I have ever had. I had Dr. Krogman for two courses, Intro to Western Philosophy and Ethics. He is an extremely educated man who is easy to talk to. Dr. Krogman is a GOD.
Awsome teacher, he worte the book and made it easy to understand and follow. Test directly from practice test in book. Very friendly, great sense of humor. Very helpful, nice guy
He never gave any information to help you out on a test. The test questions were just confusing as hell. You would find it on a powerpoint slide and he would just word it so weird that you wouldn't know what he was wanting the answer for. The only good think about this teacher to me is that he e-mailed you back ASAP when you e-mailed him. Thats it.
I took this class online and it was quite possibly the easiest class I've ever taken. To ace the tests, use his test bank as a study guide, answer all the questions and you'll do great because these are the only questions on the test. It was an easy A.
I wish Krogman had been more involved in the class as a whole (I took it online and there was a different professor in the videos). Overall though, I loved the class and did well.
KROGMAN IS AWESOME!!! He's really entertaining (joke shop props and movie clips included!), and he takes time to know you. He compiled the textbook for the class that has all the notes you'll ever need to take, test banks (make-up exam essay questions included), and readings (which are more supplemental).
Definately take this as an online course. There are only four tests and that is it. He provides video lectures for you to watch and the test questions come directly from the test bank in the book. Just watch the lecture and fill in the test bank answers as you go along. Easy A.
Dr. Krogman is very nice and helpful. However, there are an endless number of questions to answer in the test banks from the textbook. It wouldn't be so bad if one could actually find every answer and be certain that it is correct. But one doesn't because sometimes his answers are vague and one doesn't know what to do. But very kind and fun to have
Awesome class. Awesome teacher! Awesome material! Just Awesome!
I took him online and it was way to difficult. He is hard to try and get in contact with, and there is way to much material to be covered through an online class. I am an A/B student and my highest test grade was a 58!
i took his online philosophy course. I would NOT suggest taking it unless you absolutely have to! tests are extremely difficult. i have had straight a's up until i had to take this class and i am more than likely going to fail. he talks too fast and requires you watch about 30 hour long video lectures, but i had to pause every secong to take notes
This was an online class. Dr. Krogman was incredibly helpful and emailed me back within a few hours. However, if this is not a required class, I wouldn't recommend it. The tests were way too hard. You only have your test grades to fall back on and the highest I had was a 58. I had to drop after the second test. Good luck.
AMAZING PROFESSOR! HILARIOUS too..... Saw him at Cici's Pizza almost twice a week..... Take him, test will challenge you, BUT he goes over everything in class what will be on the tests. No curveballs
AWSOME TEACHER! he is hilarious and really nice. Knows his stuff forwards and backwards. He is a more in person teacher, online doesn't get the whole experience needed to do well for his class. Grading depends on the effort you put into the class. Would highly reconmend if you're willing to do the work.
Took this class online & would not recommend. Dr. Krogman is extremely helpful with his video lecture posted & responds to his emails asap but the material is challenging for an online course. I wish I would have taken his class in the traditional classroom environment. Exams are difficult and the class average on each tests were 76 or below!
Philosophy of Religion net course. He was a terrific prof: accessible, intelligent, knowledgeable, passionate about his subject, funny, & nice. Great lectures, very fair grader, all welcome regardless of faith. Fascinating course; prof really goes out of way for class, reasonable challenge, not ridiculous. Would love to have him as a prof again!:-)
Tests are difficult to decipher. Knows his stuff when it comes to the art of BS' aka philosophy just not skilled as a teacher. Acting like a fool in class is not a substitute for teaching students. Needs to take his Phd to a school where he will fit in better. An overpriced private institution where his wierdness will be seen as cool.
I've taken two of Krogman's philosophy classes and they are really good if you're into the stuff. He teaches well, and if something's unclear, he is completely willing to explain it to you in class or personally in his office. He's funny, too. He really tries to get the students to understand. He only tests on what he already covered in class.
worst online course ever. no instruction. no interaction from professor in discussions.very difficult to comprehend material with absolutely no interaction from teacher. find any other proffessor if you need to take this class. I am a A-B student who devoted alot of time to this class and found it overwhelmingly difficult.
Dr. K is simply amazing. This man could easily be teaching at an ivy league. One of the smartest men I've ever met. Also, one of the funniest. The course material is dense, but he does a pheonenal job of explaining it. I've taken 2 of his 3 classes, and I'm taking the other one this fall. I don't need the credit; I just enjoy his classes that much.
I must say my philosophical understanding has greatly improved, while my concepts of ethical reality is somewhat in a time warp. Dr.K, should have stuck with the debate topics, and kept the Plato,Socrates,Aristotle etc..in phil.101! not what I was hoping to learn-but he did a good job and gets an A in mumbo jumbo !
UGH! I love this teacher. He is great. He's sooo funny too. He makes the hour or so that you're in there not miserable. He is just really fun to listen to and he is a young man trapped in an older man's body. Can't stress how funny this guy is. Full of life.
Not only is this guy funny, but he really knows his stuff! The book we use for class, he actually wrote! This was a very interesting class, and if you do not mind putting in work (his exams come straight from the textbook but there is A LOT of material) this is for sure a great class to take!!
Most students in my class complained about the difficulty of taking this class on-line, but all the material is available through videos you can view as many times as you need to comprehend the material. Although it is a tough class, Krogman did an amazing job giving everything needed for everyone to make an A; even exam banks for every question.
I was a straight A student until I took this class - twice. He seems polite on one hand on the other hand seems to have it in for A students. I have never known anyone who passed he online class. I know many who wish they never took it. Don't take the risk to your GPA.
Dr. Krogman is a terrific teacher! His lectures were always very interesting and insightful. He is very intelligent and really knows what he's talking about. However, the material is pretty difficult to wrap your mind around. So, go to class! Don't miss lectures if you plan on passing the tests easily.
Krogman is absolutely hilarious, there wasn't a day i DIDN'T look forward to his class. it isn't a guaranteed A but if you meet the guidelines of his 1 PAGE papers due exam days and just study his test banks you will be fine. every question on his exams are in the test banks in the text book. great teacher.
This professor is EXCELLENT. I learned a lot in this class and i'm very glad i took it. wonderful at explaining concepts of Philosophy.
Very good professor. He give you all that you will need to past all test. The class is very hard for an elective, so please don't miss any days, because you will be so far behind.
Great professor!
Great teacher in person, can't speak for the online class. Had a custom book published that costs only $40 with all the test questions, answers and essay questions in it. Material can be a little heavy but well worth it. He is lively and very knowledgeable about the world and philosophy. Expect to laugh and watch time fly. It's what you make it!
He is a wonderful teacher! I loved his class, he is one of the best teachers ive ever had for a class. He's really nice and considerate. Very helpful, always ready to listen. And he made everyone in the class including myself laugh everyday. He is wonderful! I would suggest taking him for any class. Couldn't have asked for anyone better!
I was skeptical about getting into philosophy prior to taking his intro class, mostly because of dense reading material and whatnot, but he does a great job of making things understandable. He is overqualified for his position, and the notes he gives you and the setup between notes and exams are as straightforward as it gets.
Started his class online. DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS ONLINE. Switched to his lecture class. Great guy!! Super fun, enthusiastic, hilarious, and explains very well. His tests come from questions he gives you, so no surprises. Loved this class, wish I could take again.
so, you get four grades. They're all tests. For every test, you have every question he could possibly give you. He gives you all the notes. He's awesome. Wish I had the time to take him again.
I honestly don't know HOW this man is a teacher. I guess if you're a Christian it's easy to sit by and listen to him shove his beliefs into every lecture. Quote from book "It is only at this level (belief in God) that one finds true fulfillment and authentic existence." Great- if you believe that, but it's not his job to push that belief onto us.
This class was challenging. You definitely have to study to pass this class but the lectures are amazing! If your engaged and thinking about concepts, it can be a very rewarding class!
Dr. Krogman is awesome. His class, however is NOT an easy A. I took it to fill a gap in credit hrs. I thought it was going to be a cake walk, it wasn't. He's amazing at playing the devil's advocate. You never have a clue about what his view actually is on a topic because he's so talented at pointing out all sides to an argument.
He is a funny teacher, but it is a bit of dry humor. Laugh anyway. He'll like you. DO NOT be afraid to speak up. He likes to hear other peoples' ideas and opinions. ALWAYS READ THE MATERIAL. He gets a lot of his test questions from there. I liked this professor, especially considering he is teaching an extremely difficult concept.
Dr. Krogman has been my favorite teacher by far! I was not excited about taking this class but having him as a teacher has made it really enjoyable. Not only is he a great teacher but he is so funny. I would definitely take this class again but only with him as a teacher. He gets in A+ in my book.
Easily one of the better professors and better classes I have had. I highly recommend this class and professor to my friends. Makes the topics interesting and enjoyable.
This class is at lot harder then I thought it would be. There isn't much interaction between me and the teacher. All that I was graded on was 3 exams and 1 paper, we were given an extra credit paper.
This is my first semester back to school in many years and my first time taking some online classes, but this guy doesn't have his stuff together. Unclear expectations, some blank online documents, and he is almost unrealistic in his expectations- So many videos, powerpoints and chapters to read. Too much info on each test. 6 religions on 1 test?!
He is great. funny, caring and understanding I highly recommend him!!!
DO NOT TAKE HIS RELS 2030 ONLINE CLASS. I don't know what he is like in class but this online course is HORRIBLE. It is just reading chapters and watching hours and hours and hours of BORING videos of a white stuffy monotone guy in the 90's talk about religion. You are only graded on 4 things, 3 exams and 1 paper, and exams cover too much material
The man is a genius and his classes are engaging. Also, I think that he does an excellent job of explaining philosophy according to its branches. This professor even provides ALL OF THE NOTES for every test. Study the notes, and do the homework. It's totally fun.
If you show up to class, pay attention and take notes, you will pass. If you need extra help he is always available, and everything is covered in detail in the book, though I never used it. Only 4 exams, and one good sized paper. It is a fun class, and he cracks a lot of jokes. Interesting class, and an interesting professor. recommend.
Dudes a complete genius. He went to college for around a decade, and It shows. He is insanely clever and witty and always open minded. He can respond instantly to anything with the perfect answer and understand insanely complex concepts. My favorite professor ever hands down so far. Going to take his philosophy class next semester.
ONLINE CLASS... Horrible experience. Grading unclear, tests were like shooting blanks, had no idea what to expect to study. Expected to study 6 essays questions and to expect one on the test. Confusing and extremely hard.
For anyone who's interested in taking Introduction to Philosophy or Introduction to world civilization DO NOT I mean DO NOT take this class online, lack of work, lack of what to study, lack of assignments, watching 45 minute videos of a guy talking about absolutely nothing. Not discrediting to the teacher but the online courses is pitiful.
I thought this would be an interesting fun thing to learn about for an elective. I was wrong taking it online is tough and i think it would be just as tough as a regular credit class. Professor wrote his own book and records his own long videos for you to learn this terrible criteria from. Terrible.
With only four tests or feedback and minimal guidance, it's hard to know what to study, not to mention that he is incredibly biased in his lectures and has no problem saying things like objective morality being the only correct moral theory while using poor arguments to "prove" his point. He seems to use his authority to push his own opinions.
This class consists of four tests and an extra credit essay. Dr. Krogman gives the entire test bank for each of the tests and uses 30 questions and 1 essay per test. The class is easy but the lectures are boring. He seems to be biased toward theism, so be prepared for that; one of the tests is focused on arguments for and against (mostly for) God.
I took this class for Intro to Ethics 1040 strictly online. Interesting subject but did not like how he sits in front of the camera and talks, sometimes 1hr 30min. His test all came from the book/video he created and the last question is an essay worth 40 points so be prepared to study all essay questions provided. Also read text near back of book.
Professor Krogman somehow manages to make philosophy interesting with his wonderful and hilarious lectures! While some of the readings are long and hard to interpret, he has written his own textbook that has a test bank with all of the exam questions, and your grade is solely based off of the exam - no homework.
Im convinced any good review on here he wrote himself. The guy is unbearably cocky and even when you try your hardest wont give you anything higher than a C. Do yourself a favor and never take this class so he wont have a reason to be at chatt state any longer. Your whole grade is the average of 4 tests which he makes himself. You wont pass.
4 Exams 40% is an essay. He never give you a good grade no matter how hard you try. Stay away from this class. No guidance through the course. Very boring and plain way to lecture. Youll fall asleep watching his outdated videos.
Smart guy, Difficult but interesting material. He needs to update hes teaching method to the 2020 style. Prepare to study heavy. I loved the subject, not great at making it interesting.
Awful!!!!!! Old way of teaching do not take him!
He wrote the book and the test he sucks. No help
Insanely intelligent, but kind of a lazy teacher. Uses lectures from 2015 in his online course. Also is obviously a staunch Christian, which is fine, but it affects his objectivity. Never , ever take this man if you can help it. I also took him for religion and it's basically the same issues.
Super nice guy, i took him for into to ethics. But the course is IMPOSSIBLE. The only grades are from 5 exams which are literally the hardest tests Ive ever taken. No extra credit, no help whatsoever. Ive never even seen this guys face either. he comes to zoom, talks, and leaves.
I took this course because I always thought that philosophy was interesting, but this teacher just completely destroys that! His online lectures are long and very boring, you have to read through a tone of material out of his book, and you will not know what you will be tested on with his tests. So, do yourself a favor and find another instructor!
His course material is very unclear. He writes the textbook so if you do not understand his lecture you're not going to get any clarification from his book. He seems to have topics that are supposed to be debatable that he fills with his own personal bias. It was a very unfulfilling course, specifically because of him. I would've given him a zero.
Professor Krogman seems to be very biased. He wrote the book used in the course so it feels more like you are getting his opinion on things instead of seeing it from a philosophical approach. The teaching style used in this class is also very outdated. You have to be willing to do most of the research on your own as you do not get much in lectures
I am taking this class online and he has never once held a zoom lecture. Its all old prerecorded videos (not him) as well as a ton of reading. Only graded on 3 exams and a term paper. His study guides to help guide us through sections are lacking direction. This whole course lacks direction. Very lazy teaching.
Dr. Krogman seems like a nice guy, but his class just isn't well-formatted. He makes use of what others have pointed out to be an archaic, ineffective teaching method. All of the grades in the class, except for a giant waste of time extra credit paper, and he expects you to memorize over 100 answers to questions that there'll only be 30 and more.
Subject is interesting, but you don't have time to get invested between the 200 question test banks, insane amount of reading, and hours of lecture videos. I was genuinely looking forward to taking a phil course, but will never go anywhere near the subject now. Krogman is knowledgeable in the subject matter, but his teaching method is flawed.
100% honest review, I took this class because I had to last min, I'm glad I did. Dr. Krogman is the best prof I've had in college, and helped changed my viewpoints on several of life's questions, or at least helped me understand them better. Study hard with the study guides he gives you, and you will be fine. Online lectures aren't needed, justclass
Dr. Krogman was a great teacher, just get ready to spend a lot of time studying for his test and watching the videos and reading. This class wasn't difficult it was just time consuming
Everything said about his ineffective teaching style are true. Textbook written by him and lecture videos outdated and mind-numbing. Test banks provided but you answer and he will not confirm your answers. IF you're good at memorization, take this class at your own risk. If you want to actually learn something, take a different class/professor.
Hardest class I've ever taken- but Dr. Krogman is great. LOTS of reading, but test banks are provided. The lecture videos are in the textbook as outlines as well, which saves time. This class is not designed for 7 weeks, but is anything? FAST PACED. Krogman is smart, organized, and KNOWS what he's talking about. Lectures aren't boring by any means.
There is ALOT OF READING & VIDEOS to do!! Although some of the religions were interesting to learn about, it was hard to stay focused on all the readings with me taking this as an online class. Beware you are only graded by 4 assignments: 3 exams and 1 essay. You also have 1 optional extra credit essay that can greatly improve your grade.
I loved Dr. Krogman! Best way to study for his class is to go through the notes provided in the book with your test questions right next to you (yes, he gives you all the questions) and fill them out as you go. He is very knowledgeable and I learned so much and actually enjoyed going to my 8am class
This class is heavy on material. Lots of videos that are around a hour long, and lots of extra reading. With only two class periods to go over this material it is extremely difficult. Not to mention he is very aggressive when grading the essay question of each exam. For a 15 week course might be ok. But would not recommend a 7 week course.
Dr. Krogman does not prepare you for his tests. His lectures pertain to nothing that is on the tests. Do not take his class if you want to get an A.
This class is exam heavy (only 4 required exams as the grade) but there are test banks, so don't binge and you'll do fine. My only gripe about this class is the bias and the political implications integrated into the material. I would respect studying philosophy and the class a lot more if it we actually got down to the roots and not the politics.
Tried to get in contact with him the fist week of class. Asked for a phone call, received an email asking what I needed help with. It's a 100% online class with pre built material. Took little to no effort on his part to make a call and assist with my troubles. Better luck next time I guess. Laziest professor I've ever had.
This professor is extremely biased toward Evangelical Christianity and conservative politics. Normally, this would be fine, but he places his beliefs and politics in the course and you must go along with it to get the grade. If you are someone with a strong moral compass, you might take issue with having to agree with this man in order to pass.
There are 4 tests, no extra credit, and you only get one chance on each test. He is adamant that each student only has one chance per test, as it would be ‘unfair' to his past students to give more. The test bank questions can be confusing at times, but they're in a clear order. Just fill in the blanks and use Quizlet, you'll do just fine.
