He is by far the most intimidating teacher I have ever had. He just rambles and writes a couple things on the white board as his way of giving lectures. Attendance of lab or lecture wasn't mandatory, but you had to stay on track because his class moves very quickly. Would never take another class of his again.

Similar to the previous reviews. Lectures are not possible to keep track of. You have to look at the textbook yourself. Coming to lectures is useless.

Lane's teaching is old-fashioned and demanding. He expects you to read entire chapters before class, yet his lectures are less clear than the textbook. In labs, asking simple questions feels discouraging. He also expects knowledge of the first 4 chapters before the first class, which wasn't communicated beforehand. The exams are very difficult.

He's a good teacher overall! All his lecture exams have study guides, which exactly like the exam, so if you study those. There are 2/3 labpop quizzes, so make sure to read before class! The first three lab reports are given in person and are graded fairly, then the rest are digital; the discussion is the most important part, procedure format, et

Ngl his class is hard but he gives curves for midterms so our average was around 70%. His final was pretty hard but he ended up curving a lot. I was expecting a B+ or A- but surprisingly got an A. His level of humor and sarcasm is unmatched. Take him he's funny lol. As long as you study you should be fine :)

Goat, his lectures are whatever, but just read the textbook and go over the study guide for the exams. Do all the homework majority of exams are practice problems. Labs are fairly easy but there are prelab pop quizzes so go over the lab before, and write a lot in the discussion portion for a good lab grade.

Not sure why his rating are super low. A few classmates have 90's. Chem 1B requires you to spend time outside of class for you to understand the material. However long it'll take you to understand the homework, varies from person to person. Go to lecture, and review what is written on the board. Textbook teaches you the problems.

I'm not entirely sure why there are so many positive reviews about his 1B class - maybe it's because of all of the more apt students that managed to pass Chem 1A are fine in his 1B class, but Lane is an incredibly hard professor. His lectures make no sense, he is a hard grader, assigns tons of work, and seems to get pissed when you ask questions.

Solid professor, Chem1B isn't meant to be easy so expect to put in time out of class studying and really getting to understand the problems. Lectures are very important, even though he is kind of a bad lecturer he still does a good job of outlining everything you need to know. Study guides are 1:1 with exams so use them well.

He does not like questions and even if your car breaks down or you have work or the dean and chancellor of the college believes you should have some extension, he will never give it, he'll be too busy playing chess online. He'll cancel his office hours and not let you ask questions most of the time. He doesn't know how to help.
