Talks in circles and never focuses on material needed to successfully take his tests. Often he contradicted the textbook. Notes are given 'verbatim' and then, to a degree, are disregarded in terms of necessity in taking tests. FYI- study the study guide
Completely disagree with the first rating. Yes, his notes are all verbatim. Don't take him if you don't want to learn or take college seriously. He is not easy, but the best professor I have had to date. The kind of professor that makes you want to succeed!
Easy grades if you learn his notes and read the book. His notes are verbally. easy 20 points on his tests if u learn the essay question that he told U to learn and the essay question is in his notes. he gave u 3 tests and drop one.10 point bonus ? on
One of the best professors I have ever had. He is very caring about his students and has a passion when he teaches the subject. I have never thought much of Economics, but he has taught me more than I ever would have thought. Awesome teacher!
Awesome class to take with a professor who cares so much about his students inside and outside of the classroom. He helps bring realization to reality. Very flexible with his test. Just remember to always do as he instructs. Atleast consider it! ;)
Class time is wasted taking extensive notes. If attendance wasn't such a big deal, you could just study at home and pass. Nazi style, do as I say, teachings. No class time allowed to study at your own pace. I was spoon feed and still left hungry.
good teacher, tries to teach you real applications of the subject. verbatim notes, and tests are multiple choice with essay that he provides ahead of time. he tries really hard to make this boring subject interesting.
he is a good teacher, he cares about his students never go to class late he will remember and make your stand in class for that, never yawn if dont want to get pointed out, read all his notes before goint to class, he willllll ask you!!study your notes and make shure you understand the material ask!
he is a very good professor, verbatim notes, if you study the notes you will be ok, he works problems with you in class that you can follow because they are in the study guide, he is very helpful, dont be late, dont yawn, if study & form a study group and youll be fine. Good luck.
I am sure he has the best of intentions for all of his students, however his teaching style is too cold and very unhelpful at understanding the material. I am going to pass his class but I will NEVER NEVER NEVER take him again.
INSULTING, looks for a reason to insult students, verbatum notes, verbatum essay question every test, passed but definitely will not take him again, still don't understand economics, if econ is your only class, go for it, if not don't torture yourself
He comes off abravise but if you tell him how you want to be treated do the work, follow the notes you'll get an A. He expects you to do your part that's all. If you are a poor student don't take him. But for those who actually try at school this is your prof.
Man this guy can teach. His notes are completely from memory and he is a genious when it comes to economics. Don't take him personal, he's not rude, he's funny. I learned so much from him and he goes definately out of his way for his students. He cares about all of his students and is my fav prof.
He enjoys belittling students and making them feel they know nothing and that HE is the only intelligent person in the class. His teaching method might be effective for spoiled, lazy, un-thinking, un-feeling individuals. I will never take this teacher again.
It's hard to beleive people take what he says personally. Although it may seem demeaning to some people he makes it a point to say NOTHING I SAY IS PERSONAL. It's sad that a college level student cannot accept that. Overall I would recommend this class if you have to take it he is outstanding
Belittles his students. Requires you to memories whole paragraphs of useless information and takes off points on essays for leaving out "of". I would not recommend his class because not only will you not learn from him, you will be bitter in the end.
He may seem to belittle his students but he is just trying to get you to work harder. This is a very hard class but if you take the time to study, you can learn a lot. I am not sure if I would recommend him for anyone who doesn't want to learn. It is definetly rough!
One of the top professors I've had. Lectures are interesting, but if you have trouble writing quickly he may not be for u. If you want a good grade you've got to do your share, he is hilarious and makes Eco. interesting. Class is for college students, not whiny babies
he is very hard. he dosen't explain the economy. he just give notes. The nots are not helpful and none of them come in the test. don't take him
don't take him
He has his notes memorized and he skips around from chapter to chapter so you don't know what needs to be read before class. On his tests he gives essay questions that he wants regurgitated verbatim and takes off points if it isn't exactly the way he said it. Do yourself a favor a don't take this professor. Also, he's loud and aggressive.
Economics is a very hard class so dont expect it to be easy! I learned more from him than any other professor. He likes to get under your skin and make you work for it. Just mess with him back and he loves it. If you expect a walk in the park dont take LaRocca, but if you want to learn take his class. He is the first teacher who challenged me.
La Rocca is a wonderful teacher. He loves you to argue with him, and challenges you to think. It may not be the easiest class ever, but if you TRULY want an understanding of economics and not just a credit satisifation, take him. You will learn so much.
this professor spent too much time on other subjects, his notes were excessive and had little to do with the tests he gives. i hated going to class every time.
very explicit but incredibly annoying. his notes take forever to study because they are so damn long!
Mr. La Rocca really wants his students to learn the material, not just for the test. His way of teaching is rather different but it allows for an informality and making of many new friends.
I really did not like this course. He talks down to students and makes you feel stupid. His notes are rediculous and have nothing to do with the test except for the essay. I would never take another class taught by him.
i,just like the rest of us,saw all the neg.comments and still decided to take him. I have NEVER had a teacher so rude, even though he tells you not to take it personal-its impossible. To give us tutoring,he made us sign a contract 2 not watch TV for the sem.--he makes his class more imp than the rest.DO NOT take him PLEASE! I had to drop.
Allen says La Rocca rocks! Yes, he yells, but it's funny. He's a spaz. It's cool. I'm a slacker and I got a C...or maybe it was a B...I forget. There were a lot of people in my class who didn't pay attention, skipped classes, didn't wanna take notes, etc... and they were the ones who would get in STUPID arguments with him. He's very straightforward
this guy sucks!!!
Yes the guy is stright forward but, if people went to school to slack this is not the class to take. He really helps you understand how to study, take notes and understand how important education is. Not hard if you study study study like you should in college
This professor is very demanding, he thinks your life should be all about economics, expects too much from the students, he is not helpful and lectures in a very fast passe
This is a good prof. He has his notes down so cold he doesn't bring anything but his roll call to class. He will demand verbatim memorization of a few parts of his notes, but IF YOU STUDY, its not hard. Study earlier than later and you will get an A. One more thing; don't argue with him unless you are sure you are right. even then you might not win
Professor Larocca will go out of his way to help his students. He offers extra credit and before class study sessions. If you want an easy A, and have no idea about economics then don't take this class, but if you're interested in taking something away from economics in general, then Larocca is for you.
you either like hime or hate him. He is hard and at points difficult. He is not going to take anything off anybody. So remember study and take notes do the extra credit and don't be late to his class and you will do fine. Start to apreciate him for what he is and listen to him and you will do great.
I was challenged and got a B. Try not to take him in the summer it's a lot he throws at you. He tells you word for word your essay questions (and you must know them word for word). He gives bonus questions (which were past essay questions). You will work hard but you will feel good at the end of the class.
In every college students career as a student, there is always that one professor that really hits you where it hurts. LaRocca is that one. Mind you that it is not a bad thing. He is very caring towards his students and goes beyond his duties as a professor by giving you more than what you would normally expect out of a college course. Study !
Not very good professor he wants you to memorize everything he says.
very organized in all his presentations
Stick it out if you are scared at first. He is a little abrasive. You will remember everything you learn in this class. He gives great notes and as long as you pay attention you will do well. You will be glad you took his class
Simply amazing. Changed my life.
he is an amazing teacher. he has the best notes you will ever get in any class. you dont have to read the book, just the notes and u can get an A. very respectful and treats everyone as equals even people who have polar opposite views.
Great prof. Really knows his stuff and is willing to help those in need. Not an easy A, but possible if you learn to study. Would take him again!
This man is God in the flesh! He changed my life! Probably the best teacher I've ever taken; The man is a machine! If you forget any of his material he will recite it to you word for word without any use of notes! But be warned, he is not the teacher for you, if people can get under your skin easily because he WILL try to push your buttons!
The best teacher I've ever had.
This guy is awesome. His sense of humor might rub some people the wrong way (such as asking loudly WHY ARE YOU LATE?) when you come in late. Really wants you to learn the material but that's because he's a good, smart teacher. I have his class at 8 in the morn, and I look forward to it every MWF.
If you are working reconsider taking this class, He expects you to not work and do nothing but eco eco eco. He teaches life philosophies and not how to learn his class and the content. He says his notes do not parallel with the book, what a joke. I HIGHLY recommend no one take him. Worst teacher EVER, save your money
He is very monotone. Expects too much for an introductory class. Three test are not sufficient to base a grade upon.
Amazing!
You love him or you hate him! He will challenge everything in you. You have to give a lot but IF you do, you get so much out of it and realize that you can achieve more than you realized. He also looks like the the Grinch. But he really cares, if you have trouble come early and he will help you understand everything.
i loved, loved, loved this class! it was a great challenge this class but if you are up for it.... you will get a get deal from this class.
im taking 2302 with him even though i got a d in 2301 because it was an interesting class-noONE slept im sure plus you realize your actually smarter than you think if you try...
If you slack dont bother. Read your book AND your study guide and anything else ITS A MUST. I busted my ass just to pass with a c. One of the hardest classest I ever had. His humor bothers some people but look past that. Had to sacrifice my other classes to attempt to pass this one. Take at your own risk
A fascinating professor. The course is very challenging with Larocca, but he is the most caring professor with alot of knowledge. A whole lot of work is required and study group sessions. Very Very difficult if you are'nt a strong math student. But, if you are looking for the college professor to really challenge you & affect you, this is the man.
good teacher but students must go to class and be willing to listen
For all of you that need to take an Economics class to get it out of the way I STRONGLY suggest you to NOT take this professor! He is degrading, will yell at you for no real reason, is not helpful at all, and is extremely hard. He voices his opinion a lot and never really teaches! He make you memorize word for word and does not teach the material!!
Horrible professor. Barks memorized notes for the students to copy down. Never uses the board or any visual aids (which is VERY important for an econ class). Very insulting when you ask questions, insists you're always wrong. If you're even 1 second late for class, he'll try and embarass you in front of the class. Tests questions often unclear.
Crazy!
LaRocca is a teacher that actually wants to help you. I was honestly worried the way he acted the first day of class and it DID scare away alot of students. Over time, it showed how much he cared for his students and how much he knew about economics which is alot. Btw, he will answer ANY question you ask him about economics, that comment was BS...
Mr. Larocca is an awesome teacher. If you have questions he will answer them. If you pay attention, read your material and put in the effort, he arms you with everything you need to know about economics. I enjoyed his class so much I'm taking him for Microeconomics in the Fall.
Economics is the social science that studies the allocation of scarce resources for the creation, distribution, and consumption of goods and services. Get ready to make this your life! lol (and then some)...
This professor is an egotistical bully. I don't care how much a person can learn from him, it's not worth being treated in such an obnoxious way. If you've seen the movie "Ghost" and remember the crazy ghost in the subway scene with Patrick Swayze, then you now have a mental picture of this prof. Avoid him.
you have to read the book, complete the workbook, study his notes and live and breathe economics if you want to pass this course...i wouldnt recommend him to first timers and slacker beware you in for a rude awakening if you are...
i never read, barely went over my notes and got a B. I failed 2 of his 4 tests. DO the extra credit it will save u. His class is more fun than alot of other classes over boring subjects.
Prof LaRocca is awesome! He makes sure you understand the info provided, do everything he tells u to do and you'll make it. There is a lot of assigned reading, but I passed the course by reading my notes, and study guide, and doing the extra credit. Get in a study group! It's a little time consuming, but he makes it fun. Took as a Summer course.
BEST PROFESSOR EVER!!!1!!11Elevn...... Easy transaction, fast shipment, will buy from again A++++++++++++++++
quite possibly the greatest professor of all time.. anyone who graded larocca low was either stupid or not ready for college... they should make a statue of this man in the courtyard at sac.... he'll change your life!
This man is a machine and he whips all of his students into shape! He's obsessed w/ economics, and you'll learn alot from him whether you want to or not.
LaRocca is such a great professor. He knows his stuff. He can be a bit stubborn, but will accept it if you prove him wrong. Has an odd sense of humor. Just have to be able to take some pretty funny verbal abuse. Don't ever be late for the class though and if you are "Poor Planning" or else you will be arguing it for ever.
Very hard. Makes class interested in subject, but hard to relate material to tests. Worded and presented differently than taught from lectures to tests. Little or no HW. Large essay/ response area on tests. Must study HARD.
He is a fun teacher. however if you are not prepared to study dont bother taking his class. Knowing the essays by heart guarentees at least a B in the class. He encourages great study habits, but it is hard to get help out of him, and many stuff presented can be seen as confusing.
I KNOW I KNOW.. you're reading ALOT of mixed emotions about LaRocca. The first day of class i thought WHAT did I get myself into!! You HAVE to read book! But believe me, if i can pull a "B" in this class ANYONE can! Some are offended by his humor, but he truly cares!Hes a GREAT prof!Put forth effort, participate in discussions&you will do great!
Great Proff! This is not an easy A class. You need to read your book and join a study group. You can get an A if you try and read the book.
DON'T BE LATE Be prepared to takes notes every single time His tests are NOT from the notes he assigns but from the text instead He does assign extra credit which will help you in your overall test grade. He is there to give you an overall perspective on life and not just Econ. and you will learn that as the semester goes on got a "C" in the class
Mr. LaRocca is a truly great professor. It's not an easy class. If you attend, take notes, participate in class and study then you should be okay. The man actually cares about his students. Memorize all potential essay questions. He gives the essay and definitions to you. There's isn't a reason you can't make an A in this class.
Eccentric! U either Love or Hate him. NEVER B Late! Read ur notes ea night b4 class. Try find a friend's notes. They'll be 99% word4word! I took 4 SUM1 and it was killer, prolly not 2 bad during a full sem. Much better choice than Marton 4 sur! Takes getting used 2 but he really cares. Make a Good Study Group! sum stuff 2 memorize-not 2 bad tho
Mr. Larocca is an awesome professor. he really cares about his students and wants you to succeed. just show up to class, learn the notes, make a study group, go to his study groups, and learn his essay questions. he's the most influential professor there is. he really knows economics!
he is an awesome profesor. his class is not hard if you study and get with a study group to do the extra credit which is NOT HARD AT ALL. you will learn a lot about Economics and life. he seems like he is mean the first day of class but he's not, he's very caring and funny too. DEFINETLY RECOMMEND HIM!!!
Great teacher. This is not a class for someone not ready to really get into this. I wish i could find my notes for this class again They would come in helpful. You do have to write it down Word for WORD. DON"T MISS A DAY, Don't be late. NEVER USE TEXTBOOK ONCE.
I took him for both 2301 and 2302. He is an amazing teacher that teaches from the heart. Let me tell you how to pass. I got an A in both classes. Read his notes and apply it to the book. His tests will use the concepts in his notes and verbage from the book. Go to class, pay attention and make an effort, that's all that he asks.
Excellent professor. He cares about his students, but if you are not serious about improving your life and learning, don't bother taking his class. Fun learning environment. If you are intimidated by his sense of humor, you're not mature enough to face the "real world" yet. Would highly recommend him!
He is the best professor I have ever had, and I'm in my junior year. He's got a unique way to run class but it's refreshing. Macro was a required class for me... I'm terrible at econ but I got an A. It WAS NOT easy though. In this order: go to class, take notes, read the book then read your notes. Do that and you'll have an A.
Larocca is a great teacher. He really cares about his students, but you have to put in the effort. Go to every class, study your notes, put together a good study group, and read the textbook. It's not as hard as it sounds--but there are a lot of notes to take, and a lot of things to memorize. Work for it and you will be rewarded with an A.
short hand will come in handy cuz there is alot of notes and you have to write fast. he will repeat it if you ask though. Great teacher but you have take notes, study and study more. He is extremly smart almost smarter than a computer. he knows everything word for word, its crazy. Its not an easy A, you have to work but in the end its worth it.
he's crazy in a good way. first came off as a jerk, but after getting to know him he isn't. expects you to actually learn and put energy into it. tells you clearly what you need to know. also more then willing to help you outside of class and go over problems. only grades are on tests, no homework, but should still read the text and keep up.
This class is not an easy A. He expects you to actually learn the material. You need to go over the notes every single day, get in a study group, and read. This class is work but his goal is to prepare you for a university. He's a little abrasive at first but he really cares a lot, and is probably the best teacher I've had so far.
This teacher sucks. I would not recommend this teacher at all. Everyone that says he is a good teacher, he is not. He trys to act like he knows everything and he doesn't. Please do not pick him for Economics because he is the worst teacher I have ever had.
Not an easy A class! You are expected to know your notes and read the book everyday for class. This professor will definitely prepare you for all your other college courses. He does want you to exceed but you have to put the work and effort in. If you are a slacker don't take this class. If you want to get something from college this is the guy.
Great professor who will help you to learn how to learn.
Great teacher! Definitely inspired me to do my best. Don't take his class if you're a slacker. Must read book, review notes, memorize essays verbatum, and most importantly understand the material taught. Gives plenty of opportunity for extra credit. Sit in the front and participate and you will get an A.
My grade was a D.Im an avg. student.I never missed a class,I joined HIS study group and did extra credit. He gives enough notes, but not enough discussion.I wish he assigned homework for grades to help understand ea. lesson. If this is not your major or if you are not a math person, dont take him.He wants you to memorize,WORD FOR WORD or you are wrong
He is the guy to learn with.
if you try in this class, you'll get the grade to show for it. no easy As
If you're not going to study, read or put any effort into learning, do not take this class. He's a great professor but doesn't tolerate laziness or slackers, which is understandable. He genuinely wants you to succeed, not just in this class but overall.
Be ready to listen to every thing, word per.word...you don't want to miss a thing. The professor was very helpful from beginning to end...I will apply these lessons and lectures to my everyday life especially the one about poor planning...we know what happens with that.
This class was not easy, but if you put the time and effort then you will get the grade that you deserve. He is by far one of the best professors if you actually want to learn macroeconomics. Be sure to sit in the front right in front of his desk and never show up late
Not an easy class. He has a lot of knowledge on the subject that its almost overwhelming. He seems to care about students he just isnt very good at teaching something. Offers extra credit. Can be annoying at times.
If you want to learn, this is the professor to go if you want a breeze through, look else where
This man made economics so much harder than what it needs to be. He was not helpful. He is very in your face. This class was not easy, or fun. I have taken math classes that were easier. First class i ever had to drop.
LOVED taking his class, my favorite teacher ever, period.
took during summer II. gives plenty of notes but doesn't elaborate or explain much. form study group and you will understand better thrive and succeed. gives extra credit that helps a lot towards test grades. if your not willing to contribute time to studying or working within a group you will not do as well. extra credit offered even on final
If you want an easy A go somewhere else, if you want to learn economics take this class, if you want to grow as a student take this class! There are 3 test and a final, drops lowest test grade and give opportunity for extra credit. He cares about students but if you are struggling open communication will help.Comes off harsh but has good intension
this teacher wastes a lot of class time. rather than giving power point notes, he memorizes his notes and tells you them word for word while getting confused half way through the lecture of where he left off. i wish i could have given him a better review but i feel as though he has a lot of room to grow as a teacher.
not an easy class lots of reading & note taking have to depend on peers to understand material 3 test and final offers extra credit in the form of essay quizzes and through group work which only gives you the ability to make extra credit not easy class!!
Don't do it. You've been warned. Be prepared to take an obscene amount of notes and to memorize essays (20pts on each test). There's only 3 exams and 1 final. No room for errors. I passed only because I dedicated 10+hrs per week in addition to class time. Scores 76, 95, 85. I average 103.7 in every other class. Cost me my 4.0 GPA....
I have never dropped a class before, but I had to taking him. He is a robot memorizes definitions to the letter and wants you to as well. I couldn't pass his class if I took it 3 times. He's a cool n funny guy, but hardest teacher and class I ever took. And I took calculus
He was horrible, would never recommend him.
excellent for students who wish to learn economics from a great instructor, class time is never dull and he pushes you to excell in the way you study.
Great professor. He is always prepared, he knows the material, and he is very enthusiastic. His class is fun and entertaining. He challenges you to be better as a student and as a person. Study, study, study and you'll do good...oh and don't take his comments or jokes personal. Great professor, great class!
One of the best professors I've had in college. Will push you to your highest potential. Class is uncomfortable at first but you'll get used to it. This isn't an easy class but the way he teaches you will remember what you've learned without trying hard. "Work smarter, not harder." He will change the way you think. Would take him again if I could!
I took macro & micro eco. with Mr. Larocca. He's an amazing professor! changed my life. More than just an eco. class; he will teach you how to be a better student & person. One of SAC's best professors. You will have 3 exams 1 final, bonus points. "Work smart, not hard" remember nothing is personal! He'll push you hard bc he wants the best for you.
Easily one of the best professors I have had here at SAC. Extremely dedicated to his profession and genuinely wants to see his students succeed. The class is not easy but it is 100% worth the effort. If you put in the work you will come out of the class a better person for it. Do not hesitate to take his classes you will not regret it!
By far one of the best professors I've taken at SAC. He is a challenging professor but in a good way. He makes it his purpose that you succeed in his class. Great prof. Highly recommend
Awesome Teacher! Gets you ready for University level. Bring spiral notebook and be prepared to take notes. Best style of teaching, but I'm prior military. If your lazy or think you can just show up and get a C choose another teacher. Be on time! Other than that take his class you will learn something.
Best prof I've ever taken. Not the easiest but the most challenging and it was worth it. If you just need an easy grade, go find a different teacher. Bring a notebook for notes... lots of notes. He prepares you for university levels. Highly recommended.
Very different class than what you're used to. Lectures from memory and requires you to copy his lecture word for word. Tests were hard for non majors, those who cared about the course did okay; essay portion of tests made you write paragraphs of lecture word for word from memory. Don't take if you can't memorize or if you can't take the pressure.
His lectures are the usual, hes SO nice. You can tell he cares about his students and our grades. BUT HIS TESTS ARE IMPOSSIBLE. I studied my butt off and am a straight A student and his class is why I broke that streak. He's a great guy, even a good professor, but HORRIBLE test-maker
Be ready to copy notes until your hand falls off. This guy is no joke. You will be bombarded by lecture and can expect none ofnit to be on your exam. His exams are not from the book or the infamous study guide. It's obvious the goal is not for you to do well. You will always feel lost and that's how he likes it. Take this class somewhere else
Tough guy if you can not memorize the material for class. Good luck on his test their difficult.
This class will prepare you for your upper division courses. He's tough but he's fair. Your grade will literally reflect how much work you put into the class. If you're ex military you will feel very much so at home with this class. I'm taking him again next semester for micro-econ because I enjoyed his Macro-econ and got an A. Not for the weak
Study smart, not hard. Get into groups early and meet religiously. Use every study tool you can think of to understand the material. If in doubt, ask him for help during office hours. He cares and will make you a better student. Be effective. Nothing is personal. Not for the faint of heart but worth the challenge if you're up to it.
I would not recommend this instructor. He is straight lecture and you must copy down it verbatim. I was really interested in the subject but his method is just to teach the prod overview. His test are really hard and on how to apply which is great but he does not teach you. I would recommend to take the this course at another campus. Dont take it
Not for those who need an easy A. This professor doesn't let you cruise through his course, but if you stick around and give the course your honest attention you will come out a better student after developing certain habits necessary to pass his class. You will get out of the class what you put into it. I would take Larocca again.
Larocca's class was interesting and you actually learn something as everything is applied and he walks you through writing a study guide each class, word for word. Main grading criteria is 3 tests, a mid term, and final. All of these tests have extra credit. Show up to class, book is fairly optional. Short Essays. Easy B,makes you work for an A
Professor Larocca's lectures are clear cut and his notes are excellent. If you read the book, take notes in class, review your notes, and work out of the study guide (GET THE STUDY GUIDE!) then you will do fine. This is not a blow off class, but you will learn a lot.
This has definitely been my favorite professor at SAC. I did not want to miss his class because it was that interesting. He offers enough extra credit for you to pass. I hope he offers a micro next semester.
He's old white and super sexiest. On the second day of class he said female shouldn't be engineers because they "aren't good at math". Makes you take word for word notes which is super irritating. Do the extra credit, it's helpful and it's the only reason I got a B. The "essay questions" on tests are BS though. I would NOT take his class again.
He is one of few professors who is trying to prepare students for life inside and outside of academics. He does this be encouraging the following: be early/on-time, be prepared for class (read/study), participate in class and outside of class, listen in class, and work smart (not hard). Working at these skills will only encourage your success.
He only lectures. Your definitions have to be word for word on what he said. His tests are different from his lectures but he does offer extra credit by making you write practice tests with a team of 2-5 members to be turned in on or before the exam day. Don't take him unless you have time to study daily.
Professor Larocca's class is "appropriately challenging" for people who actually want to learn the material. Do the assigned readings and actively listen in class. He is easy to contact during his office hours and responds fast to emails if you need help outside of class. I Highly recommend to anyone who is a serious student regardless of major.
Great Professor. Great class! Professor Larocca has complete mastery of the subject and communicates it in a meaningful way to students. His class is the missing link between the social sciences, physical sciences, and business. His class will definitely make you smarter in all 3. Definitely not an easy grade, but not overly difficult.
Hes one of the best teachers around. Very head strong and stubborn cemented in his ideas but hes a bit older. But if you want a teacher thatll make you think and pretty much force you to actually talk to your peers hes your guy. Hes got all multiple choice test except some definitions you must memorize. One of the best at sac
He's definitely in your face, but you get used to it as the semester progresses. I was at a D at midterm, but he definitely gives you a lot of extra credit (up to 30 points worth for each exam) to make up for his tough exams! Get ready to write everything, read your textbook, and form a study group.
The most stubborn professor I have ever met. Don't yawn or be late to his class because he will make you say, "poor planning". He lectures very quickly and expects everyone to write everything he says in cursive. He also wants everyone to learn his way. Exams are very vague and tricky but does offer extra points if you memorize some definitions.
Professor Larocca has a bit of biting sense of humor and a realistic view of the world works. He encourages people to develop study habits, group dynamics, and organizational skills. He is a must take professor if you are serious about college, because he is really teaching you life skills, Economics is just how he gets you in the door.
Prof Larocca has very strong opinions and a in your face personality but its one of the best professors I've ever had. If you can get through the first day the rest of the class is enjoyable. Very funny and a nice guy but is quick to call you out. Offers extra credit on tests but expect to work for it. Very heavy dependence on book! Dont come late!
The guy is highly opinionated. He has tedious lectures where all he does it tell you defenitions off the top of his head. Talks himself up way too much. When you pick classes just keep scrolling past this guy. Has no teaching skills whatsoever. If you take this class you can just add it to your list of wasted time. If you want an A pick another guy
If you are ready to learn how the world works you will enjoy Prof. Larocca. He is a passionate teacher who enjoys challenging his student to develop good habits. It is not a slack-off class. You must read and attend class. But upon completion you will have gained more than you thought. I really enjoyed the last two semesters learning from Larocca.
Mr Larocca is tough, but he does this because he wants to mold you into a strong college student, to pass his class, join a study group and dig deep into the subject. At first you probably wont like the class but in the end you will thank him for it. But you need to study study study for this class it wont be a walk in the park.
Larocca puts a lot of effort into his class. By the end of the class you will have a extremely solid understanding of economics. If you take him be prepared for a heavy work load, but also lots of learning. Slackers should skip this one but if you're interested in learning than this is the class for you.
Prof. Larocca is the greatest professor in my book. Many people on this website say that he is bad, but he's not. Those people either are taking it personal, or they are just lazy. Mr. Larocca may be tough, but he is actually nice and gives out advice on life and how to be prepared for it. He needs more recognition. Also, he gives out extra credit
DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR! Very rude! Does not write on board or use power points, he tells you verbally what to write in notes. I am hearing impaired, so I had a hard time understanding/ keeping up with notes. When I asked him for notes he very rudely denied me and told me that I would learn how to listen in his class. So disrespectful..
This professor thinks it is hilarious to ridicule his student. He tells you the first day of class that everything he says is true and not to question him. Many students would tell him he is incorrect about certain things and he would tell them "no, I'm right listen to me". Very rude & would not recommend taking his class.
Professor Larocca does not only gives amazing notes, but he also challenges you to become a better individual. He will challenge you in a class by calling you out and forcing everyone to participate, but by doing so he makes the class highly engaging and educational. Make sure to read the book and pay attention to his life lessons and lectures.
Slightly rough, but clever sense of humor, and most importantly impersonal about it. Really values learning and being open with not knowing something, as that gives him the chance to teach.
I have taken LaRocca for both Micro and Macro. He is an older gentleman, set in his ways, and will challenge you on every, and anything. Class participation is HUGE he will call on you, and pick you out to engage the class. Take notes. He requires three SLO papers that you do, and turn in as a group. He's a good man, but an old man.
This teacher has to be the worst teacher you could ever take for the money. Only lectures and you don't get to see the notes. If he said a definition only once, he expects you to know it forever word by word. Dosnt make a friendly environment to ask for information again or to ask a question. Also trys to make things personal in a bad way. Dont tak
The entire class is 5 group projects. Easy A if your group is good. I'll admit that I didn't do much. Picks on everybody, some people way more than others. Constantly debating with me and saying I'm wrong despite supplying sources and him not doing the same. Even said something racist that the school did nothing about. Gotta love crying on zoom.
Professor Larocca is the amazing! Seriously...just take notes Word for Word! Its not difficult! Everything he asks is in the notes. Do your part...study your notes and ask questions. He is hilarious and once you get past the gruff exterior you find a teddy bear! Most important thing to him is that you understand! Weather the storm!
