He is a great professor. A lot of work though. Be prepared to take quizzes every week. Also, follow any reading assignment because he will discuss it in class, and most of the quizzes are from the chapters you read. Towards the end of the semester, I was very discouraged though. A lot of work and I'm sure I wont get the grade I expected! =(
You have to work hard. But I got alot out of it. You can't expect an easy A, but I got one! And I def. know how to write better.
Mind you I took this class during the summer so it was very fast paced. He was big on H.P. Lovecraft "Call of Cthulu" which before that class I had never heard of before. There were quizzes every class on the reading so that is a must, I thought he was hard to please but graded fairly.
He's nice and means well. He's pretty uptight and doesn't allow too much room for error. When he gives an assignment, listen to every word he says because he expects you to do every little single thing to perfection. I thought he was VERY boring at first but he grew on me after a few classes. Expect a quiz on the reading every class too!
LeBlanc is a great professor! Not only will you learn what's in the textbook, you will also apply the concepts to every day life.He encourages you to think outside the box and see things in a totally different way than we are used to thinking of it.He has 'circle time' in which students freely talk about the readings in class. The 'circle' is fun!:)
I took Professor LeBlanc's Summer Intro to Fiction course and I really enjoyed it. There was a quiz to accompany the reading every class period, and most of the time, there were workshops for everyone's short fiction. Fair grader and contrary to a prior comment, "Call of Cthulhu" only took up one class period towards the end of the semester.
I have taken two classes with Dr. Leblanc and I have genuinely enjoyed both classes. He is big on peer interaction and a very fair grader. He makes sure you never feel overwhelmed with you assignments and explains in great detail exactly what he wants from you. Your really getting your money's worth in any of his classes.
I took EN101A with him. He's extremely helpful and understanding. He explains the assigments clearly and does whatever he can to allow you to succeed. He always encourage his students to think about different issues creatively. He always prepared to teach the material enthusiastically.I greatly recommend him so don't think it twice to take his class.
Taken for Intro To World Mythology. Expect to spend ENTIRE time writing huge homework papers. VERY difficult LITERARY ANALYSIS class mislabeled as "mythology 101" IMO. Take if you like writing and being graded solely on writing literary analysis papers. Very difficult grader. Requires a PRESENTATION in class as well. 15+ writing assignments!
Took his Advanced Fiction Writing class last Fall. I do not regret it. It requires you to put in some effort (do the readings, study for quizzes, etc.) but it is worth it. The class covers a lot of information, but it is all taught in an easy to understand manner. I left the class with a clearer understanding on how to write a story.
Last semester, Fall 2011, I took creative writing with Dr. LeBlanc. I recommend him. We got great use of the book, he made sure we understood the material, was always available outside of class, and responded quickly to emails. All in all, great professor for Creative Writing!
If you are looking for an EN 101 professor that really cares about each student's success in the class then Professor LeBlanc is the right teacher for you. He was extremely helpful with any doubts you may have had, and he was always organized and prepared with his lessons. Overall, great teacher!
Introductory Creative Writing is a great course for Dr. LeBlanc. The technical aspect was the most stressed portion and he is an incredibly knowledgable professor. DO YOUR HOMEWORK. He is perhaps a bit prudish in terms of subject matter for the fiction pieces, but that may be a personal opinion, I recommend to all aspiring writers this class.
I loved his class. The essay topics were very engaging and it was fun discussing the essays in class. I definitely would take another of his classes.
Can't stress enough how great Dr Leblanc is, currently have him for EN 101A. Fair enough grader that he shows you your flaws in your writing so you can actually become better writers, Allows revisions for improved grade, homework is always relevant to the lectures, and doesn't give a lot of them. Allows peer interaction.
This class helped me improve my writing skills immensely. Professor LeBlanc really knows how to make this english class fun and get everyone involved. With all his great feedback and opportunities to revise my essays as many times as i wanted, I got an A. I recommend you take one of his classes!
Professor Leblanc is a very understanding teacher, I took him for Fall 2012, and enjoyed his lectures. Participate in class turn in all assignments and essays and read the book, exams are based on what was discussed in class so u must be able to differentiate which texts quotes came from and define terms discussed in class. Overall good teacher!
Introduction to literature class is great thanks to prof. LeBlanc. He will teach you how to read and interpret a text, and help you to develop your discussion skills. The professor chose the readings very carefully and during his class he will promote participation. His method is great and you will have fun while you learn. Take it with him!
This is an incredible class, and Prof. LeBlanc is a great teacher who gives great insights into the assigned texts and discussion questions. Is the class a challenge? Yes. But he makes it a challenge his students relish. I would most definitely recommend him.
Great class for anyone at all interested in creative writing. There is excellent discussion and a casual work environment. The professor is good natured and very knowledgeable about his craft. Recommended very highly.
Professor Leblanc is an awesome teacher who delights in the success of his students. He is easily approachable and always ready to help when needed. He is the first Professor I know that does not mind receiving calls from students anytime help is needed. He writes excellent things about his students when recommending for transfer. He's the best!
Dr. LeBlanc is a brilliant professor. Very intelligent and knowledgeable, not only about his discipline, but a well rounded intellectual. He is approachable and genuinely wants the best for each of his students. He has a great sense of humor and always keeps things interesting. You will learn a lot and have a great time!!
He's an all-around great professor to work with. He's enthused by the English language and teach it to his students, as well as learn from them.
Prof. LeBlanc made literature interesting for me. He has genuine enthusiasm in the subjects that he teaches, which makes his lectures both interesting and insightful. As long as you listen in class and do the readings, you can do well in his class. He is a fair teacher, who is also willing to accommodate to his students workload. Highly recommended
He is the best teacher I have met so far. considerate, understanding, helpful and loving. He does not discriminate or show favoritism. I recommend him to you.
Mr. Leblanc was awesome. Definitely participate in class. Don't be scared to ask questions. He's very helpful. Also, volunteer to have your essays presented to the class - your classmates and professor will give you good feedback.
Professor LeBlanc is brilliantly awesome. This class is definately not easy. This highly challenging aspect, coupled with Professor LeBlanc's vibrant engagement, and passion for Literature make it a truly enjoyable honors course worth taking. The professor proved extremely helpfull, offering to review research papers during his office hours.
If you want to learn in an awesome environment, take Dr. LeBlanc. He is very helpful and gives the same opportunity to everyone. You get the chance to revise your essays.Do the work and you will be fine. Seriously consider taking his classes. Best English teacher in TP/SS!
The Best!
He loves the in-class conversations, and always ties it back to writing. Clearly been doing this for a long time. I saw my writing come a long way.
He's a tough grader but it's definitely possible to get A's. His lectures are helpful and he's very friendly. Work hard and this will be a good course to clear up any English requirements.
He is an amazing professor. His class is not easy. Expect to do work. if you understand the assignment, you are not far away from getting good grade. He is helpful, and available for his student whenever they need them. Overall, he is the best professor i ever had so far for english.
Professor LeBlanc is a very professional but also very approachable professor. He allows every student to speak in his class and does not play favorites. His feedback is also helpful. He doesn't give you a generic "well-written, well-though out essaystory" comment either.
Professor LeBlanc values students' opinions ( lets the class choose works to read; hardly ever any professor would do that!) and tries to maintain friendly and positive atmosphere in the class. He differentiates teaching techniques and allows students to think out of the box. He does make you read but he chooses reasonably short assignments.
Prof LeBlanc's ability to relate to the students makes time spent in his classroom energizing, yet somehow chill. The reading material he assigns is relevant and applicable. Intriguing content. Yes, there is a lot of reading, though the literature he incorporates has been inspiring. I am certain I will take much knowledge away from this course
he is a good professor gives u ample time to finish you papers with excellent clarifications. he is truly a great professor!!! you will learn a lot of things at the same time getting good grades.......
i recommend leblanc!
He cares about your succuess.
Just take this class, you won't regret it.
Professor LeBlanc is a great teacher but don't just expect it too seem very easy. You really have to work for it but trust me it pays off. Before I took his class I had trouble with writing because English was definitely not my best subject. The teacher was always there for me when I needed help. He is also friendly and cares about you succeeding.
This class may or may not work for some people if you cannot take consistent constructive criticism. This class is a creative writing class. This class has a lot of reading and writing and pop quizzes almost every week. If you do all the work you should be fine. Do not skip class & the final exam will show you why.
Although I had very little creative writing experience and literature knowledge, Prof. Leblanc was very patient with my work. Your main goal in his class is to understand and identify the concepts, regardless of the quality of work you produce. Mentally prepare yourself to receive constructive criticism from not only him, but also your classmates.
Couldn't have asked for a better English professor
He was great! This is a creative writing class so be prepared to: Read (Alot! but he chooses really good stories that aren't too long), COME TO CLASS because other wise you will miss something AND engage in critiques of your classmates, and have your own work critiqued. If you can do all of this, you will get a good mark, he wants you to do well!
he was just awesome, and comprehensive.
Professor LeBlanc is a good professor. He is nice, friendly. Loves teaching. Feel free to ask any questions you are unclear about. Attendance is required.
Professor LeBlanc was an awesome Professor! He's really openminded and brings good conversations to the classroom. Make sure you participate in class discussions (which are pretty relaxed). Overall great class. I got to read great works of literature, and thoroughly enjoyed class discussions
I submitted the last review but put level of difficulty at 4 by accident when really its a 2. Just do your work and take the feedback he gives you, and you should do fine. he sees and appreciates effort, so just make sure that is there!
Excellent professor. Literally just come to class.. that's all he cares about. You show effort there's no reason why you shouldn't get at least a B. If you turn your work in on time, he allows you to correct it with his feedback. It gets no better than that. Good luck :)
Funny, nice and really enjoys what he does. I'd totally take him again for 102 (but he doesn't teach that class... yet).
He is a great professor and gives you good feedback to improve your grades
Took this class as a summer course (3 hours & 45mins- 2 days a week), not the greatest idea. Professor talks a lot about things we learned prior to 102; however, is clear in what's expected in class & on papers. He is a tough grader, but allows you to revise all papers for a better grade, and is always available to speak after hours. He is nice!
Hes the best for English 101A , he has tons of patience . This is class is more about students participating . Homework is easy , there is a lot of writing essays . If you have any questions, he answers and makes sure that you understand fully . He really cares about students succeeding !!
He is the best professor I have taken so far in English. As a creative writer, he has the ability to interpret the message that someone tries to convey through writing; as a result, he gives feedbacks that improve the quality of a writing piece.
the best teacher ever.
Best teacher I've had at MC, very helpful and easy to talk to when you have no idea what to write. Would've picked him for ENG102 if he taught it.
GREAT PROF.
Great Professor! I like the way Prof. LeBlance teaches. He makes sure we understand what he teaches by giving a detailed explanation. He gives extra credit for the class participation which encourages us to engage in class discussion. If you are not punctual and always come to class late, you will lose points and won't earn a good grade.
If you think you can't write a good 12-pages essay, you'd better think twice. Prof. LeBlanc is one of the best professors I ever had at MC. You must work hard for an A, thus. More homework to do on Blackboard too. Take his class! He'll help you become a better writer, but you must be willing to do your best.
I took his class during summer time. He is very hilarious and great at getting students excited about the materials. Everyone in the class really liked and respect him. He truly cares about the success of his students and help them to succeed in and out of the classroom. Don't drop get frustrated on the first day, you will enjoy it at the end.
Prof. Michael Leblanc is the best professor I have taken. When he lectures, he gives examples and details to make sure the students understand the material being taught. If you are planning to take EN101, I will highly recommend you take it with him. He also wrote me a letter of recommendation at the last minute for my school application.
I took English 102 in the spring of 2019 with him. He made the class interesting and fun. He gives you great feedback, and really cares that you do well in his class. If you're nervous about your writing skills, no worries. Taking his class will help you become a better writer. He is also willing to write you a great recommendation.
This is one of the best teachers every! I had friends who said Professor LeBlanc is a good professor, so i've took the class to see for myself and he is truly the best! The course is a little challenging, but Professor LeBlanc was very helpful and understanding! Just make sure you do your work and ask questions!!
I tried really hard to get by in this class but Professor Leblanc makes it really difficult. He over explains certain topics and glosses over others while not really responding to questions. He encourages his students to get a tutor or ask other students instead of just helping or proofreading. Skip him if you can.
Whoever did the recent feedback on Professor LeBlanc sounds like they've never been in a class before. I took this class for English 101 and can say that he's one of the most amazing professors ever. I've never had a teacher that would allow you to revise your final essays one more time before resubmitting for a better grade on the final.
Professor LeBlanc was great, I even took him for my English 102 class. Even though we were in a virtual setting, he came to class everyday with a positive attitude and was ready to teach his students. His assignments were awesome especially with assignments that are current and relevant. He is one of the best English professors at this institution.
I took Professor LeBlanc's ENG101 class during my first semester at MC. His lectures are very organized and engaging, and they add a lot to the learning experience. Writing assignments are done at a very manageable pace, so it is very easy to learn (and to pass), as long as you don't slack off.
I took him for Engl101 online and he was amazing! He explains the material very well, he is easy to understand, and he gives a chance for extra credit. I absolutely love the one extra week with no penalty paper submission. Take him if you can! You won't regret!
His feedback is detailed, he is clear about what he wants in his paper, and he gives a chance for extra credit. Despite the papers being long and hard, he made the writing process and the class very easy. His grades are really based on what you have written and are very fair.
He is a very helpful person and I think you would be missing out if you did not have him as your teacher. He is caring and if you do need help he will try to set up a time that can work for both of you so that you can talk about it and get help from him He also gives extra credit even when you ask him since he wants his students to succed/
i recommend prof leblanc! he is very kind, understanding, and a good lecturer. his class is engaging and i got a lot out of it. on a personal note, he also saw potential in me and helped me get into an honors program which i really appreciate! he's a great professor who cares about his students.
Professor LeBlanc makes the class enjoyable and understandable. He is not jus a wonderful professor, but also a wonderful human being.
There was a lot of writing in this class and the work can get a little stressful with other classes but it's definitely manageable. Prof was really cool and understood if an assignment had slipped your mind and was willing to still give credit. Biggest pro was being able to take his feedback and turn it in for a higher grade. Recommend taking him!!
I instantly became a stronger writer because of him!! His class allowed me to learn SO many skills and freely express myself through writing. I really admire how he loves to learn from his own students. He also DOESN'T take points off if you submit essays a few days late, and lets you revise essays for a better grade if you submit them on time!!
Gives you a week to turn in essays past the due date with no penalty. Can be passive aggressive.Takes a percentage point from your grade for every class you don't attend.Would give a lot of support to students failing, and not a lot to others.I sometimes felt unappreciated for doing an assignment the right way when others did it wrong.
Cares about students Good feedback Do your best, and he will work with you
Prof. LeBlanc is one of the best profs at MC! He provides good feedback and cares about his students. Sometimes he can be hard to reach during office hours or after class, but he will definitely work with you to understand the content of the class. He can be a little vague on his feedback, but as long as you ask you will be fine! One of the best!
One of the best English professors at MC. He makes the class fun rather than boring. He also explains everything so well and makes it easier to understand. Just know that participation and attendance matter to him.
He is very kind and I would definitely take a class with him again. Clear expectations are set regarding work and grades, if you're ever confused about something he is very thorough if you go to his office hours. Gives good feedback and is overall very chill. :] Can be a bit overbearing regarding having phones out in class though.
Good professor! However, I've taken both his 101 & 102 class, and his 102 class is no joke. It is a hard class because of the heavy workload. You HAVE to elevate your productivity skills for 102. I only survived due to his gracious late work policy and good feedback. The fact that it was 13 weeks made it even harder, but I wanted to take him again.
Best professor at MC. He creates a comforting environment while providing assistance during his office hours and in the classroom. Heavy on participation which encourages students to engage in activities and remain active listeners. I have had no issues with keeping up with the workload. He gives a grace period of up to a week which is helpful.
Amazing amazing amazing. Just take him, trust me you won't regret it.
This professor would give essays back to back and sometimes will let you revise your essays but beware, you can get a lower grade than what you had the first time on your essay. Makes no sense when grading
Incredibly understanding professor that goes out of his way to communicate with students and make sure they're keeping up with the material.
Worst professor I've ever had! Harsh grader. Will give a C on a paper for minor mistakes, and will barely increase your grade even after fixing those mistakes.
