the stuffs he taught in class are not related to the text
Full of himself
Quit your whining cuz he makes you earn your mark....i got an A-
No Comments
hes kool hard and lots of work to do but hes fun
No Comments
take his class if u want a W/F on ur report or lowering ur GPA if u'r smart
He is sucks. yeah, 1 or 2 people will got A in his class, and all else failed
he makes no sense to the text and hes really hard makes easy tests into hard one
No Comments
ya~ the test is not that hard yet by his teaching style most ppl will failed

lazy as sin. best lectures I've ever been to (B+ at douglas).
this man is a GENIUS! Get ALL your business & investing advice from him!
Genius at work we are blessed to have access to such a teacher.
Lectures are ok, but his tests are hard.

the best econ teacher i ever had.

Exams accumulative, interesting but exams are hard. Drop and fail rate high. Assignments can take you hours to finish.
Lectures make sense but have nothing to do with the exams. Hard class but he's a cool guy.
Good professor! Brilliant guy. Read the book for the class if you want to learn. Lectures are good if you read the chapter ahead of time.
Fun class... tests/assignments not difficult, although some people just don't get it. They should probably try reading the book.
His lecutre is useful to your knowledge.. but not much related to the midterms. U have u read the book on your own if u want good mark. He is surely a brilliant prof. Not a easy class to get high mark, also half class gone after midterm 2.
You should submit your assn by paper instead of by email as he might be not receiving it or not marking it.
An amazing proffessor with tons of knowledge. I would take him again for sure.
ok teacher but he needs to give better notes...and be more clear. Funny guy...and hard multiple choice..all from textbook!!!
A good teacher.Funny class,at least not boring. The test is ok unless u don't read the book. Not easy passing, but good teacher la.
his m/c questions are ALL from the book. so if you want to pass, you have to READ THE BOOK. this short answers are from his lectures so listen up when he's giving examples, there the ones most likely on exams. very charismatic guy, hard marker though.

Worst teacher that I have ever had!!! Not really helpful. You have to download class notes yourself. Lots of reading.
Puts together exams very whimsically. You don't know what will be on the test until you receive it.
he's funny but really strict about everything
Oh Man! The best professor I ever have. You will learn what is "real" economics after attending his class.
He is one of the most knowledgeable teachers I've had. He knows his materials very well. He also uses math to explain every phenomenon. I believe I have a decent math background, but I still find the math he uses on the difficult side.
Good teacher but his assignments, quizes and exams are very hard. You can take his course if you need some challenges.
Great prof with great knowledge, but too bad...His class is damn hard.10 assignments in total, but the midterms and final are KILLING ppl.Don't take him if you want a high mark, but you can learn a lot from him.
kool guy but a horrible teacher. doesnt teach u nething about macro and rambles on about other stuff
Very hard!!! Sounds all cool and stuff, but exams, assignments, quizzes are hard and a hard marker.
hard marker.. but lecture are useful..
Not organize
Poor teaching skills
he is helpful if you ask. The course if the hard part, but his written questions on the exams are hard, everything is cumulative. some class assignments are more difficult compared to the others
I found myself in a very confused and uncomfort position in the course. Overall, not a good teacher to have
best econ teacher period. really knows his stuff which make his lectures really interesting. although reading the book is a must. even though after lectures it may seemt that everything is clear there's so much more covered in the tests.
he gives very interesting comments and it's fun to be in his class, but the exams are kinda hard
He is the best teacher i've ever had. I really like him. And i got B without working really hard. :)
He explain quite well and clear; however, the test and quiz are hard.
knows the material very well..
the course is not really hard if u read the book and do the studyguide. M.L.seems to be very smart and cool,so he assumes his studnets should be smart and hardworking to support his laziness. he is a smart decision makers but not a good teacher or worker.
he always makes "good" decisions, and fools students in the class with a good reasons. you must make a wrong decision when you decide to register his class.
the worst prof. in kwantlen. confused class, repeated questions in exam, tough markers, and the worst thing is that he treats students as means for his job.
The worst prof. in Kwantlen period. You need to read the book AND his notes to PASS his exams. (The contents are not related) Final 21 Chap. + notes. A very unorganized prof. Give you homework on Tues. and due on Thurs. If you missed Tues. class, too bad.
It is obvious that Mike really likes the topic he teaches, and does so with a flare that makes the three hour class go by fast. He teaches with an involved, discussion-type style. Very enjoyable.
If you attend every his class you will be fine in his exam. But some of the questions are very difficult. You also have to study the text books too.
It is hard to get a passing grade in his class.
this is the best teacher ever,i mean EVER in this world, you will love him like likcing your own toes, smell it,enjoy it,class is very cool, you will get A+ without working hard at all!
he doesnt really teach in class, and he is bad in schdueling, plus inreasonalbe hard midterms
He is a good man, good teacher. His classes are interesting, you learn alot. But getting good marks can be a little hard. He does multi and written. Read his notes pay attention in class and use the "TOOLS" you'll ace the written. For multi i donno how u can do good.
Super interesting lectures that don't have much to do with the exams... If you don't feel like studying 6 hours/weeks, keep on moving along!!! He makes fun of those that complain that you have to learn from the book, but don't be a victim. If you can't learn that way, don't take that class!!!
Super interesting lectures that don't have much to do with the exams... If you don't feel like studying 6 hours/weeks, keep on moving along!!! He makes fun of those that complain that you have to learn from the book, but don't be a victim. If you can't learn that way, don't take that class!!!
He is the most ridiculour teacher ever.i hate him.gives us wrong announcements in class n on his website too.he made us study stuff which was not in our book n to pass in th exams we had to go through so many other books from the library.he gave us the wrong course outlin so we dint know which chapters to study from.he shud b FIRED!!
if you are taking it to get a good mark, I definitely would not get this prof. However, if you are taking it just for information, and don't really care what you get, then get this guy. The classes are pretty interesting, but don't have much to do with the subject, muchless, on the mid-terms.
Fairly hard exams but extremely blunt and helpful. Keeps class interesting with his jokes.
He is a good teacher who manages to keep his students interested in the class, if not the subject. He does not seem to care much about Economics, so if your some one who loves the subject and realy wants to learn more, not just get marks, then avoid this professor.
he never update the aor site anymore, what a lazy teacher
This is the worst teacher i have ever had. I missed one class and emailed him to ask him for some instructions for a homework that was assigned that day. He told me it was not his fault that i missed a class, and it was my responsibility to find out the information. It was only the second class.
Come to this class if you want to learn but it won't be easy. Leonard makes this course very interesting, the stuff we learned was great it changed the way I think about money. Funny guy, the class was enjoyable.
AVOID! He is a horrible teacher, hard to approach. Class dorp out rate is like 30%,and the remaining people gets C or D ave. maybe 2 students get Bs at most. Overall, just a horrible person/teacher;a jerk is an understatement for this guy! BEWARE,he admits post his own comments here! He put the 555s himself. So don't trust any good comments here!
Good Teacher. He says it like it is, if you wat an A, it will take 6 hours a week outside of class, 4 hours for a B; I did four hours prior to the first midterm and got a B. You just have to pay attention and ask questions.
If you came to school to learn, get your butt registered in this class!
first of all, if you want to get a good grade on this course, Do not choose his class. if you do not have good study habit (study hard after class), Do not choose his class. However, his class quite interesting, you can learn lots stuff that not on the book. i heard there are 28 registered for spring 2006. i really wish you guys have LUCK.
Lots of students say he is hard, but you really get what you put in with this prof. The content is tricky by nature so it is not really his fault. If you attend every class I can't see how you can't do well
srew up
Hard, yet if you put the time studying it pays off, midterms and finals are equally difficult. Makes class interesting, yet notes are difficult to decipher, and assignments are also quite hard. Work in study groups to help each other, because if you cant think like an economist your lost.
harsh teacher but teaches very well, side jokes are pretty funny too :) expect to read whole text !
He is an great professor. His teachings are what made me interested in economics (my major). I NEVER read the text book, i just paid attention in class to his funny stories and read the handouts until i understood them. I got an A in his class no problem. His teaching made the rest of my economic studies much easier. Study the handouts!
He's really smart and seems to know everything about anything! So although i hate the subject, he is interesting to listen to and learn from.
he's funny but he's crazy!
He's an A+
good notes, well put together assignments and very helpful in terms of answering questions for the class
Makes you think but always answers questions and never makes you feel stupid. Fascinating stories. And what the heck...I'll say he's hot. Too bad I couldn't squeeze a few extra marks out of him for that!
DONT TAKE HIM.... this was the worst class ever. trust me, YOU WILL SUFFER if you take him. The class average for our midterm was 38% and he DOESN'T SCALE!! He may be smart in economics, but hes a REALLY bad teacher. Noone understands what he explains in class and everyone is LOST in his lectures, his exams and his assignments.
a great and funny prof! take his class if u're willing to STUDY the notes and textbook! he keeps emphasizing that u need to study for at least 4 hours a week in order to get a B-... so think how much u'd hafta study to obtain an A. the midterm results for the class wasn't very pretty, btw.
worst teacher i've ever had, so disorganized, never hands back assignments, goes off topic, DON'T TAKE HIS CLASS
He keeps class interesting with random, yet relevant stories. Read the text book and use the study guide.
Take this class if you want to learn something! Smartest prof I've had yet. If you don't want to do the work, go flip burgerz somewhere.
ok prof...tho i really wish he had just teach a bit harder.....i would go for some other prof if i had a choice
if u want to fail take him, the worst teacher i've ever had in my life period.

he one of the toughest teachers i have ever taken. i made a big mistake . i had hoped for a good gpa when i took him now iam so heatbroken.
Michael is good at teaching. However, its ironic how he talks about time and opporitunity cost of how we have to give something up to do something else and he himself does not seem to understand that students do not have all the time for ECON and studying 9 hr a week to get a B. Its unfortunate that he makes it harder for working students.
dont like econ at all and am glad for it to be finally over but mike was alrite teacher if you went and asked for help he would gladly give it so he was a pretty nice guy but econ is not an easy subject. MUST STUDY for tests well in advance because the written questionss are hard. multi choice is just from book but written q's are HARD.
He is first of its kind
Stuffs learned in class is extremely helpful. The class is interesting. Exams are not easy.
Lecture and class is good for random econ stories. Tests are brutal.First test class average was 45%. He'll lecture one thing and test on another. Stay away if you don't want your GPA to get rocked!!! I don't recommend this teacher at all except for bed time econ stories.
Well, you know what guys,I didn't open textbook even once during semester.I missed almost half of his classes, and I still got B. What I did, just went over his power point slides before each test, and also (important!) did all chapters that we covered in Study Guide. His classes are really interesting and funny, I guess I'll take next Econ with him
he is the worst instructor. you cant get an A for sure no matter how hard you work. he is so difficult in giving exams but equally lazy when it comes to preparing students for his graduate level tests for poor undergrads
This guy is, hands down, one of the best profs I've ever had. His classes were never boring--he's a funny guy, and he knows a lot. Sure, I had to spend a lot of time studying, but it wasn't anything ridiculous. Just read the book and work on the study guide and you'll be fine. This guy isn't even half the jerk some of y'all have made him to look.
Hard Exams. He knows his stuff though. If you don't want your GPA to go down, you'll be better off taking it with somebody else or not taking it at all because the course itself is hard.
HE IS NOT AGOOD PROFESSOR....HE KNOWS HIS STUFF THOGH BUT HIS TEACHING STYLE IS NOT GOOD.......HE CAN BE ONE OF THE BEST TEACHERS IF HE CHANGES HIS TEACHING STYLE DONT TAKE HIS CLASS...
AVOID....AVOID...AVOID...THIS TELLS THE WHOLE STORY
Most intelligent and encouraging prof I have ever had. Made me into an economist. (wait is that good or bad)
With instructor evaluation in effect, I have no clue how Michael is still teaching at Kwantlen after all these years. I took Money and Banking a couple years back with him and... it wasn't a very pleasant experience. Do everything to just stay away and avoid...
Invest most of your time studying his notes. Makes the class very interesting with his discussions. He will help you if you ask for it and he will engage in discussions if you show interest. Do not expect to be spoon fed, come in and surf the net on your laptop and get an A. The more you put into this class that more you get out of it.
I think you guys are just being too harsh on Michael. Economics is a brutal subject to begin with. He makes class very interesting, and explains it over until we get it. I think if you are willing to study, the tests are not that difficult. I think it's very fair that Mr. Leonard gives us the short answer questions..ease off, you lazy people!!
Attend all his classes! You miss too much if you skip/miss, they're interesting anyways. If you do the work, ask questions frequently and put in the time to study; you will do fine. If you're lazy expect a poor mark.
Cool teacher. Always kept classes enjoyable. The HW is a free 15% if you go through the study plan. Midterms are made up of 60 MC (all taken directly from the online quizzes) and questions that he covers in class (take notes). A considerable amount of material covered in class isn't in the text, so show up for class.
Dope professor
unreal teacher! best prof ive had so far. The course itself is tough, but he tries to make it as interesting as possible. Tests are hard, but if you study his slides and do the online practice quizzes, you`ll do fine. give him yellow smarties and hes a happy guy..ha
The greatest teacher of all time. He explains everything so clearley. 2 exams, and hw. With the exams he gives the questions ahead of time and picks 6 off of them. YOU NEED TO ATTED CLASS AND STUDY OTHERWISE THERE IS NOT POINT! . GREATEST TEACHER OF ALL TIME TAKE TAKE TAKE !!!
Fantastic! I greatly enjoyed going to every class. The class is hard by it's content, but he makes it as straight forward and easy as one possibly can. Not sure if he's made me turn to economics yet, but I'm thinking about it now. Totally take him!
If you love yourself, you want your GPA, student loan, confidence and dignity...DO NOT TAKE HIM! He knows his stuff, but he doesn't know how to teach.
Overall good teacher. He knows what he's talking about and he knows how to put that information into the students' heads in English. He gives all of the potential exam questions beforehand and he randomly chooses a few for the exam. Recommended.
Great class!!! If you put the work in you'll do fine. If you just want to cruse through a course skip this one/
Good prof but it takes alot of work to get through with a pass. Its a hard subject to begin with so study as much as you can. He says to get a B you'll need to study 4 hours every week and its true(I got a B and it took AOT of work) . His tests are very hard and a 2.0 is considered a great mark in his class. He's a good guy but very very hard.
Great lessons and weird exams which is better than most econ profs as weird exam questions seems to be a set criteria for them. But you will get the material and he will give pity marks.
Crystal clear concepts, amazing real life examples. classes r fun. he will give you a set of questions on the first day of class and all the mid terms and finals appear from those questions. Although its a challenge to find answer to these questions but its fun. Decent marker. Recommended if you plan to put in some work in the class and at home.
Do your work and study properly and you will get a good mark. he always has interesting stories of real life situations that relate to our topic. over all a very good teacher i will be taking more classes with him if possible
he is the best, amazing concept but you have to work hard to get good marks i dint missed his classes and studied his class notes and questions he gave n got an easy A.take him if you wanna learn something
Tough teacher. Interesting concepts used to illustrate meanings, however most are useless for the exams. Online assignments differed from what was covered in class, which differed from what we were tested on exams.Exams are brutal, be ready to study a lot on your own. Thought his ramblings about arts majors were irrelevant and rude.
Very helpful and extremely knowledgeable. Midterms and Final consist of multiple choice questions and 5~10 written questions out of the questions posted online from week 1. Make sure to go to each class with the questions as the answers are often explained during class. msn office hours were especially helpful so make sure to take advantage.
DO NOT TAKE THIS TEACHER!!! HIS CLASSES ARE USELESS AND BORING, THE QUESTIONS HE GIVE YOU BEFORE THAT ARE GONNA BE ON THE MIDTERM ARE REALLY HARD THAT YOU WON'T KNOW HOW TO DO THEM. MARKS REALLY REALLY HARD! ON THE WRITTEN PART HE IS ALWAYS HAPPY TO GIVE YOU A LOT OF ZEROES!!! WANNA FAIL? TAKE HIM!
Worst prof I have ever taken! Does not explain anything clearly. You ask a question and he gives you the answer but does not explain how to get it. I would recommend any prof besides him!
ummm...was not a good teacher at all, all seemed well until the first midterm, notes and hw were easy but he was such a harsh marker, after the first midterm it all went downhill, he was not keeping up with the schedule he gave us at the start and notes were no longer neat, was very rushed near the end, would definitely not recommend his class
DO NOT TAKE his class, otherwise you will fail.
decent prof- economics is a hard subject, but he does explain in a way beginners can understand. He provides a list of sample exam question, and the exam short answers are chosen from that list. If you spend time figuring out these questions, it will be fine. but it is a very hard course and must do work to succeed.
He just shows you how to do things no explanation, gives you questions tells you he gives you the right answers then marks them wrong. You ask him for help he just shows you and wont explain any further. brutal teacher avoid him. His final is tough he says to study study study I did that and still complaining!
Class is fun but tends to ramble about random economics-related situations. Make sure you listen to these You will be tested on this during exams. Gives online homework but you get unlimited tries for most of them. Tests are hard but you choose from a list of questions to answer. TAKE NOTES DURING CLASS! Youtube will definitely be your friend.
Teacher is knowledgeable but has issues communicating it with the students. Provides exam questions, unlimited homework tries and tests - yet doesn't help as he does not clarify the work to achieve the solution. Assumes you know Math and moves on quickly. Great stories but walked away confused about the lessons.
Warning: You will fail if you take this prof. I'm not even kidding. He skips or cancels classes randomly. Lacks clarity. Tests are not his. Doesn't use the textbook. Expects students to be geniuses in calculus. Never answers emails. Don't bother coming to class. Just memorize the textbook if you are unfortunately enrolled in his class.
Terrible Teacher. He's very knowledgeable about Economics, but just does NOT know how to teach it. The text costs about $130 and he did not use it once, but you have to buy the online code because 30% of the course is homework and its all done online. Do not take him. Worst teacher I've had at kwantlen.
The worst teacher i never met, you cannot learn anything in his class, you will fail if you take his class
He gives the questions that are going to be on the exam. During his lectures, he gives out the answers so you have to take good notes. :) he is a fair marker.
If you want to learn economics and plan on taking future econ classes, he's the best professor for the job. If you want an easy econ prof who bends backwards for students he is the worst professor for the job. Do not buy the textbook and don't expect anywhere near an A, but expect to learn a ton about economics.
Tough class but would recommend this prof. Very approachable and willing to help. In order to do well in his class, you will need to study, do assignments and get help as needed as with any other challenging class. Definitely has a passion for teaching economics so he tries to make it as interesting as possible.
A good professor with clear grading criteria. Attend class, take notes, and put a few hours in every week and you'll do well.
Michael is a great professor and makes learning about a dry subject like economics fun. He uses relatable examples and provides copies of his slides online. You will have to work hard to get a good grade in his class but it is definitely doable.
He relates the course to the real life situations. His class PowerPoints are helpful when it comes to exams. He also gives you a list of the short answer questions that he'll ask on the midterms and finals. Attendance is not mandatory, but he discusses real life situations that could end up on the exams, so might us well show up and listen.
He's a very good teacher! Very entertaining, teaches us about real-life economics. As long as you study for the test, read his PPT slides, attend class and read the textbook, you'll be fine. The only thing is that he'll have this big group assignment where you'll have to make the group yourselves, so be careful for that.
Great instructor ! Explains the content well and lectures are very interesting. Its easy to get an A if you attend all classes as the exams are based on content covered in class. Exam questions are given from a list that he provides well ahead of time. Mutiple choice can be tricky but he is fair marker. Highly recommend him.
Lectures are useless, Michael tries to spice things up by throwing in real world situations but always gets off topic and I have no idea what he's going on about. Although his explanation of cost curves are helpful but his slides aren't the best. If you want a good grade a lot of self learning and time is needed. Mylab real mvp.
Grr-rrr-eat
Great Prof, his classes are the ones you want to attend because he's funny and overall chats casually. He gives you all the written exam questions which once you memorize you can ace on the exam and unlimited attempts to online quiz which you automatically can score 100% on! Just read text and notes for the m/c
If you skip class you will miss out on things that will be on the exams. Homework and short written assignments are an easy chunk of your grade. He clarifies which questions could be on the exams so that you have an opportunity to prepare for them. If you go to class and do the work, you'll get a good grade.
He gives you questions for exam before hand so you just have to study a lot for them because he'll choose 9/40+ questions. MC is Sooo hard! 30% is homework and it's so easy to get 100% on that portion. Basically you'll pass but it's impossible to get a good grade! You'll get C+ forsure
2 midterms one final 10 weekly small paragraphs and online short hw assignments. Easy. He gives written question that will be on test before do all of them and ask him if you dont know. READ THE TEST INSTRUCTIONS he docks marks if you dont sign or write the questions each on a seperate paper. Mc is based on the textbook.
Best prof I've ever had. Crystal clear with what's expected with assignments. I never miss his lectures because they're so entertaining and engaging. Lectures give tons of key info which is on exams. Definitely don't skip this class. If you show up, and do the assignments, you'll pass. I've taken him for 2 classes, would definitely take again.
Great prof, taken micro and macroeconomics with him. Clear grading criteria, lectures are informative and entertaining. He's always available if you take time to ask him questions. Best prof!
He was a lazy and forgetful prof the entire semester. Only posted half the slides that he used from the lectures onto the moodle site and didn't posted them after he said he would. Despite providing potential exam questions at the start of the semseter numerous questions we vague & everything that you read from the textbook he wil say is wrong
Michael is the worst Prof i have ever had at Kwantlen. He thinks he's helping you out by giving you a list of questions that he will select from for the exams, but this is a trap. Finding the answers for the questions is near impossible, i read the text book numerous time with no success. His lectures are garbage he teaches you 0 of the curriculum.
Horrible! Worst prof i've had in 3 years at KPU. Rambles on all class about topics unrelated to the course material. Reading the textbook will not help as the exam questions are very different. Avoid at all costs!
He is good as he gives a pool of questions out of which a few come on exams. But he is quite serious about a weekly news assignment that has to be handed to him.
Michael's lectures were informative and entertaining. Follow the instructions he gives you for assignments carefully. Online assignments can be done over and over until you get 100%. I don't think previous raters paid attention in class because all of the answers to the exam questions were discussed. Show up to class, pay attention & study!
he gives written summary every week plzz dont do them he do not give grade for them worth 10%, but he give question answers before hand for mid terms and finals exam, cheking is realy good, easily one passes., free 20% quze marks we can do unlimted attems suprer easy must take him
Avoid at all costs. The reason why this course is difficult is because he doesn't care about his job. He's hard to reach and doesn't even properly explain the material he puts on his exams. He gives half of the questions on the exam beforehand but they're difficult and he picks about 6 from over 70 questions. If I pass its thanks to ACDC econ on YT
His exam questions are too complicated for how bad he is at teaching the material, and his 3 exams are worth a total of 70% (20% midterm1, 20% midterm2, 30% final) He's messy, lazy, and very clearly not interested in the success of his students. If you have difficulty with math you will suffer in his class. + 20% online assignments & 10% papers
Please dont take this professor.
Just avoid him, he did not care to teach after the first mid term
You teach yourself this course, he does not teach at all.
Horrible. Thank u, next
Fairly easy. 30% of your grade is a guaranteed 100% if you do the assignment (short written) & online hw which are quizzes that you can attempt unlimited amount of times and it gives you the answers. Midterms were fairly easy. He gives you the written questions beforehand and they are exactly the same on the tests.
He wasn't like the normal econ prof,he made the course harder that he taught sth outside the textbook,if u r looking 4 high gpa, dun take this, but if u wanna think like an economist, u might find his course inspiring,he hands out the exact same tests questions beforehand, if u dun know the answers, just ask,he will actually give u all the answers
Avoid this man at all costs. He won't reply to emails and doesn't know to talk to students with respect.
Michael is a pretty good prof for an econ class he is a nice guy. I found the course difficult but he did try his best to make it as simple as possible. He is a reasonable marker for exams but you need to know the material. You can do well in this course but you need to be prepared to work for it.
Michael has been teaching for a long time, he definitely lacks that caring manner a lot of professors have. BUT, the curriculum for this class makes a hard class somewhat easier to pass with 30% designated to assignments/homework that you can get a perfect score on if you do the work.
The worst online class I have ever taken. The online class is merely just online chat and no other interaction. Prof just uploads ppt slides and good lyck understanding them, as exam is out of book mostly
The worst teacher you can ever get. Never provides you with any feedback for your assignment nor midterms. Never took a single class, instead just used to post a PowerPoint presentation without any explanation. If you try to reach him by email he will not be going to answer those either.
DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS!! The professor is not bothered you learn anything or not, you pass or fail. Final exam is 120 questions in 2 hours which is impossible as almost all questions include graphs or to be solved or multiple parts. Class is an online chat, where he might or might not show up and he won't even notify you! Doesn't reply back on time
I would advise all to take another prof as he is not interested in class, students and everthing else. All his exams are out of book, so I wasted 100$ to give just exam on Achieve. Also he won't reply to emails and is not bothered whether you understand anything or not. If you want good grades and actually learn then take another class
I took this class in 2018 and it's great to see students have the same views as me. This prof does not care at all if a student understands a topic or not, does not reply student e-mails, creates an exam which is not even related to the syllabus. So why make us buy a textbook if you're gonna make an exam completely irrelevant? KPU needs to see this
I can't believe KPU is paying this guy to do nothing, but copy and paste from past classes. No lectures, but uses scheduled class time to answer any questions. Answers are 1 sentence long and unhelpful Selective about the emails he responds to. If it requires him to do more work or if the answer is longer than a sentence, it will be ignored.
GROSS INCOMPETENCE. Michael is a good economist, but a horrible teacher. The entire course is self-taught. He does not lecture. He obviously doesn't understand that a "flipped classroom" requires the instructor to spend class time reinforcing the lesson. Also, 60 minutes to do 60 questions on exams is highly unreasonable.
ECON1250 was overall a pretty easy course but with Michael, it was a headache. His class structure is the weirdest you will ever see. He literally puts everyone into a chatroom and he doesn't even show up. The only thing you get is an old PowerPoint and then he just gives you a quiz. The assignments are done through his Twitter and Linkedin, crazy
I signed up for ECON 1150 thinking Michael would be a good professor, after seeing the earlier reviews on rate my professors it made me think he would be excellent at teaching microeconomics. Sadly, I was wrong, not only was he incompetent and lazy to teach anything, he was just UTTERLY PATHETIC in running an online class.
Doesn't give lectures, gave us 6 sets of slides for 14 chapters, completely unhelpful. Talks about the same concepts over and over when asked in discussion. Exams are entirely marked online by a machine. Told us to do a cost benefit analysis of if it was worth arguing over marks given to us by the computer and if we were actually correct or not.
By far the worst instructor in the entire Economics faculty at KPU. Worthless in teaching as Michael uses a textbook to do the teaching for him along with assignments and exams as well. Doesn't respond to emails in a timely manner and is quite rude when actually replying back. Posts macroecon slides in a microecon course. Do not take this garbage.
Has ended classes multiple times with at least half of the time left. Everything is marked online automatically. He teaches through slides and goes on about the same things repeatedly in actual discussion. Whole class can be done online without showing up in person. Gave 90min for midterm with 60 questions, most having multiple graphs, etc.
AWFUL
Michael is lazy. He used a website called "Achieve" to generate all of our homework, exams etc. He clearly did not care about this class at all. Achieve did all of his marking/grading for him, and yet it would take a long time to get grades back. When the professor doesn't care about the class, it makes it hard for students to care about it.
he is wonderful professor and helps a lot if we have any difficulty
Difficult course but very flexible.
Took his class two years ago and he is super lazy. Doesn't want to teach and relies on Achieve to do all the marking for him. Funny guy though but still don't take him. I ended up dropping his class a few weeks in just to take all the stress off my shoulders and it was worth it. If y'all are gonna then don't say I didn't warn y'all.
he is the worst professor ever. His exams are mutliple choice but SO hard to finish with the time he gives. Please do yourself a favour and don't take this professor!
Michael's class is a mixed bag - the material is tough, but he's a pretty laidback prof. The AI tools like Unstuckstudy helped me stay on top of the coursework. Overall, a decent class if you put in the work.
Super flexible class. Can do assignments over and over to get the marks.
