Took this class online (5 weeks). Weekly quizzes are all open book. Exams (2) are essays over a video debate. Not difficult at all. Participation grade is over class discussions. Also very easy. Dr. Licona is very helpful and responds quickly to any of your concerns. No reason why anyone should get lower than an A!!!!!

Dr. Licona is a very organized teacher, and his online information is very straightforwards. There is a necessity for personal maturity in order to keep up with the class, but overall, he is very good.

Even though this is an online class I actually learned more than my traditional classes due to the content in the weekly discussions and the ability to ask questions privately by email Dr. Licona always answered my questions and gave insight to content. He is a true teacher and I am an education major. you will not be disappointed or overwhelmed

Dr. Licona is great. Not only is his class not too much work, but you'll really get a lot out of it. He really knows his stuff. The biggest thing in this class is keeping up with the readings.

This is a good course. A lot of info, but not overwhelming. Make sure to read and do all the discussions. The main grades are papers, but again not overwhelming. Dr. Licona is very helpful and is not a tough grader. As long as you put effort in the class you should be fine. I honestly wish I took him for Old Testament too

Dr Licona has helped me, perhaps more than any other professor, be equipped. His very practical homework (briefs), essay, and discussion topics will stay with me for the rest of my life. They give me confidence to face situations that require an explanation for my Christian faith.

Only one negative, video debates 2+ hours long with a 1000 word essay about the debate. It's not hard but it is extremely time consuming. I would not take another class with this professor and I do not feel like I learned much about the New Testament.

Dr. Licona is a good teacher and I enjoyed taking his class. As long as you do the work required, you should be able to easily get an A.

Dr. Licona's class was one of the most interesting class I have had during my program. He has a wealth of knowledge to share, so take advantage of learning from such a well-respected scholar. There were weekly assignments (do them well; add a lot of detail). These assignments were big contributors to the research paper.

He was very clear on what is expected of the course. Discussions are a must but very easy. If you have any concerns, he will respond very quickly. We had to watch two debates for two separate exams but as long as you watched them, it should knot be a problem at all.

Dr. Licona was an absolutely wonderful professor, he provided the class with excellent discussion topics and was truly interested in what we all had to say. Most of my final grade was based off of only two essays, but he grades very liberally as long as you put in a solid amount of effort. Take this teacher if you get the opportunity.

Professor Licona's class was very fun. His class gives you the opportunity to learn about Christianity. The way he teaches, as well as his assignments are very clear. Professor Licona is very helpful, he always replied to my emails quickly. The class itself isn't hard, just requires you to read. If you read and use the resources that are provided then you will pass.

Professor Licona was amazing. He set up the online class in a way that is efficient, yet conducive to a student's learning experience. The discussion board is the main part of the class and the readings are not too difficult. He promptly responds to any questions and is a fair grader. Make an honest effort and you'll pass.

I took this course online for the first 8 weeks. One discussion, two comments, and one quiz per week. No essays or exams. Very simple and easy to manage. I enjoy this course very much. It truly changed the way I view Christianity.

In this class, you just do weekly discussions and 1 quiz, which are fairly easy. There is no test whatsoever. There is one essay about visiting a different church, but it was not too bad at all. The teacher responds to questions promptly via email. If you're looking for a good elective that you can do anytime you're free, this is it.

As long as you submit the assignments in on time, you are good to go. No need to stress :) He is a nice grader

Dr. Licona is a tremendous professor and is highly recommended. His knowledge level of the topic studied was really quite amazing. The homework (writing briefs) was designed in such a way that it become a quick and beneficial manner of recalling information for the future. This class will prepare you for the textual challenges that confront the biblical text. I tried to highlight extra credit, caring, and amazing lectures but it wouldn't let me for some reason.

Best course ever. This course with Dr. Licona prepares a student for encountering tough questions from skeptics and non-believers. Very practical because I completed this course with useful outlines of presentations that I will use for small groups, teaching and sermons.

I loved this course! I had the course online and really appreciated how he was always active in our discussions and challanging us in order for us to fully understand. The course is outlined very well so it is difficult to miss an assignment.

Discussions and quizzes every week with one major paper. Easy work if you time manage. Quizzes are straight out of the text if you read the required text, so textbooks are needed to pass.

I thought this class was a great class. He's very clear with his instructions and will clarify them further if you don't understand. Dr. Licona arranged this class to be of practical usefulness going forward, and it was such a help. Our assignments, rather than being papers and tests, were short bullet-point briefs of issues that will be useful when we encounter those issues in the future. One paper at the end. This class was incredibly useful! Come at me bro with anti-historical Jesus arguments, I'm ready. You'll have to write lots of 'briefs' with Licona, but if you FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS and remember you will be using them later, you'll be fine.

THIS is the class I have been waiting for my whole time in this program FINALLY a class where I was made to create USEFUL briefs for future reference. There is a load of reading and you simply must do it -- but its worth it. You will be required to create bulleted brief 2x a week. FOLLOW HIS INSTRUCTIONS and you'll make an A! I loved it!

Rock-solid approach to Biblical study. This course should be mandatory in any theology program. Very clear implementation of structure. There is a method to his teaching and you will learn more about theological topics than you thought possible. The reading is rich in information not easily found in independent study. Take his courses.

Dr. Licona's class was fun and an easy choice for transfer students. I learned a lot, and while it was an 8-week course, there was a doable amount of reading, papers, and discussions, which made the class a breeze. Read the assigned material (not that much), follow the instructions for discussions and papers, and you will easily get a great grade!!

The opportunity to take classes from Dr. Licona, a leader in his field, strongly influenced my decision to attend HBU over other universities. The experience I had in APOL 6321 did not disappoint. Interacting with him in the discussion forums was a thrill and I hope to take classes with him in the future.

Dr. Licona is a well respected scholar for good reason. He's also a patient and thoughtful instructor. The class makes significant demands on your time, but you'll learn a TON and Dr. Licona tries to be flexible within reason.

He knows the material. Take advantage of his willingness to answer questions or push you to go deeper in your thinking. Have your beliefs in hand but be open minded to concepts that are not fully developed in your worldview yet.

Dr. Licona is brilliant. I learned so much in this class. Yes it was hard. The homework was substantially heavier than most classes, but that was only because I took extra time to make sure all my briefs were thorough. The homework is the best way to get the most out of this class. Dr. Licona is great and I hope to take another class with him!

Dr. Licona is AMAZING! He's easily one of the top two professors I've taken at HBU, and I graduate this semester. There are a lot of assignments and intense reading, but he isn't a super tough grader and the readings and lectures are very interesting and coincide well with the assignments. He's well published and certainly knows his stuff!

The work load is about right for a master's class. What is better about this prof is the clarity of assignments for learning objectives. The class experience is thought out better. This prof gives more time to the class and individuals than other profs.

Dr. Licona creates a challenging environment yet allows for the discovery of the material to happen through discussion and feedback. There is a solid amount of regularly scheduled work and participation is a must, so there is no room for slackers. His availability, attentiveness, knowledge and wisdom make this a most beneficial and enjoyable class.

I did not fair well in the class, but I enjoyed coming out on the other side of it. The historiographical approach was new to me and quite challenging, yet I gain something from it. I'm new to apologetics (this was my second class) and keeping an open mind of understanding how I can become a better witness to skeptics. 8 weeks were a journey.

Dr. Licona teaches fascinating information in this class in an engaging and understandable manner. This class will stay with me the rest of my life and I am excited to share what I learned about the resurrection with others.

I don't know how Dr. Licona does it. He's at the height of his field and yet very friendly, accessible, and humble. He has no problem with pushback on the content and wants students to wrestle with the material. He's encouraging and very active on the discussion boards. Extremely well-organized course. I wish there were more like Dr. Licona!

Dr. Licona is a great guy and probably an even better academic. If you really listen and consider what he presents to you, you will never think the same again (I mean that in a good way). On the back of APOL6380 this was a great follow-up paper. On its own, this is an essential paper for Apologetics. Being able to argue Jesus' resurrection historically is as important as the theology that goes with it. Dr. Mike Licona is such a great man to know, full of wisdom, and he gets down into the trenches with us.

Dr. Licona is one of the top experts in the field of historical Jesus studies. Being able to learn from him was a highlight of the program so far. He readily engages with students and gives really good feedback on student arguments for the resurrection of Christ. Additionally, he took time to engage one-on-one with anyone who wanted to virtually!

Dr Licona is an expert in historiographical resurrection studies. The course was eye opening. It was designed and presented in such a way that I left with confidence in my knowledge on the subject. Beyond the quality of the course, Dr. Licona seems to be a very caring man who humbly addresses questions with valuable feedback. I recommend Licona.

Dr. Licona is hands down my favorite professor! The material is engaging and even if the subject matter is difficult he presents it so well that I hardly feel as though I am doing work since I enjoy learning it. He is always adding something new to the subject and encourages lots of discussion with and amongst students which makes the class fun.
