Took him for a developmental psyc. night class. Too involved in his other work, would randomly cancel class but still have tests even if didnt lecture. Before tests gives you a list of key words, but there werent very helpful. Goes on tangents. Must self teach material from book. I wold recommend taking presnell or someone else for developmental.
Terrible! I had a 4.0 until this ding dong came along. Must read textbook to learn anything, he reads a line or two from each page, then gives you a study guide that does not help at all. I was a PSYC major and everyone in the class had to have curves to pass. I beat him by finding textbook errors for 1 final pt. each.
Prof gets confused about the biological concepts covered in the book. Tends to ramble and overgeneralize, which anyone with a strong bio background will likely be annoyed by. He really cares about teaching, and the reviews cover a good portion of what's on the tests. Overall, not stellar, but not awful, and a nice person.
Great person. Information for the tests are from the textbook, and he tells you exactly what questions are on the test. Definitely possible to make an A.
He is possibly the worst teacher at SMU. Going to class is useless. He rambles about topics completely unrelated to the material on the tests. The tests are all based off the book. You would think that would make them easy but he words questions so terribly and confusingly it is hard to get an a. I had him for intro psyc as well and it was the same
I took his research methods and forensic psych class. It seems easy when you first start out but he rambles a TON during class. The tests are based completely on the book but he words the questions weirdly. You basically have to memorize the book to have a change of getting it right.
Super easy class. Attendance isn't mandatory, but he will sometimes curve your grade at the end if your attendance is high. You must read the book, but his tests only cover two chapters. Lecture is pretty interesting, but he goes on tangents that are irrelevant.
Worst professor at SMU hands down. had a 4.0 until i had him. Ended up making a B in his class. Exams are 100% from the book. You literally have to memorize the book. Like random numbers, dates, nationalities if you want an A. Don't bother leaning concepts, just straight up memorize. Better yet, dont take him.
Professor Lindsey is very helpful and informative. He gives very interesting lectures and only tests out of the book. I enjoyed the class because he encourages participation but you don't have to always be worried about getting down all of the notes in class since the tests are out of the book. He is very sweet. I made an A-.
Easiest and least stressful class I've taken at SMU. Every single answer to every single test question comes straight from the text. During his test reviews, he has the test in front of him and basically tells you what the questions are. Without paying much attention in class & reading the assigned chapters, you will get an A
Professor Lindsey is the best kind of college professor. He gives you the "here is what you need to know" so that you can "learn what you want to know." He literally gives you the test questions/topics and then you spend class asking interesting questions and having exciting discussions. He is so sweet and funny too! I highly recommend.
Wonderful human being, fair, entertaining and well rounded. I always take his classes when I can.
Professor Lindsey is awesome. His classes got a little harder than what they used to be, but they are still fine. He goes over the test questions before tests which are all based on the book while lectures are mostly discussing articles and material in general. Take him whenever you can
Best professor I have ever had. I have taken r of his classes so far and have made an A+ in both of them. I will continue to take his classes as much as I can. He lets class out early every time and never assigns homework or papers. You have a few tests and extra credit options that are super easy, such as just going to class. HES THE BEST
He is a very busy man and I feel like his mind is not on teaching social psyc. He reads bits off the textbook for lecture and mumbles a lot, so it's really hard to follow him. Tests are a little hard, and you get 4 tests and no homework. So you sink or swim in this class.
People love Michael Lindsey. You can learn a ton of useful information from an easy class. He wants students to succeed and his lectures are clear and to the point. I think he is one of our student body's favorite professors. TAKE THIS CLASS!
PSYC3341 consists of 4 exams, the final being optional. Definitely need to study for the exams, however they are not the hardest exams. Exam material comes directly from the textbooks, the lectures are supplemental. Dr. Lindsey will work with you and he does care about your education.
I absolutely loved Professor Lindsey's class. Psychology is interesting as is, but Professor Lindsey's lectures went deeper into the material in ways that broadened my perspective and understanding. In addition, his personality as a professor is absolutely wonderful. I highly recommend him!
Really enjoyed Professor Lindsey as a professor. The lectures are very interesting, and he makes class enjoyable. Took his mayterm class for more credit hours, and I'm so glad I picked his class. Grades are based off 3 papers with 5 questions each. As long as you read the textbook and give exact answers, you'll get an A. Great teacher.
Personally I didnt mesh with his personality and teaching style. He lectures all class and has a very soft spoken voice. He seems like a passionate person, just not how I learn. Youre graded on 4 exams and attendance and can drop your lowest test grade, everything is right out of the book. Go to class though, hell dock you big time for missing.
Dr. Lindsey is refreshing to have as a professor. He genuinely cares about his students and wants everyone to do well. He gives you everything you need to do well on the exams so if you listen and take notes in lectures the class is an easy A.
Dr. Lindsey is a very kind man and a lovely teacher. He explains things really well and is available for help outside of class and answers emails promptly. Pay attention in class because otherwise, you will have to read a lot of the textbook on your own. I highly recommend taking a class with Dr. Lindsey.
Dr. Lindsey is great, he treats the lectures more like a converstaion between peers which i found great. I took this as a summer course and the class was graded based on 3 tests(30% each) questions straight from textbook, and attendance(10%). He will round up your grade if you have good attendance. I really recommend Dr. Lindsey, Great Professor!!!
Dr. Lindsey is my6 favorite. He has a lectured style into class but understands how hard that can be so makes his exam review extremely helpful! He also teaches from the textbook which is nice when it comes to studying! Overall he is very smart and realtable!
only grades are exams, he drops the lowest and reviews everything you need to know for the test so the tests and easy, everything you need for the tests are in the textbook chapters so honestly you just need to show up for the review day and read the textbook to pass. but i recommend going to his lectures because he is very wise in his field.
The material isn't difficult and he gives you everything you need to know for the test, plus he drops your lowest test grade. My only complaint is that he doesn't use visuals at all- it is straight lecture the entire time. If you're a visual learner, I wouldn't recommend taking him or else you won't retain much and you'll be bored
Dr. Lindsey is the BEST. I loved him for development and wish so much I took him for social. When he lectures he goes beyond the textbook, he really just wants to share his knowledge with you. The tests are easy and he gives a really good review before. The only work I did was read the 2 chapters before each test.
By far one of my favorite professors, I enjoyed going to his class and listening to his lectures, they were so interesting. Attendance is not mandatory but you do benefit from being in class, he is very straight forward about what questions will be asked on the exams.
Dr. Lindsey is a super engaging professor and a very chill guy. I'd usually go to class early and chat with him for a little bit before the class, and he was always a pleasure to talk to. There is a research requirement in the class that I forgot to do bc I am stupid, but he gave me a way of getting some credit for it. 10/10 would recommend
Ok Professor Lindsey seems like a nice person, but honestly his teaching style made this class impossible for me to grasp. Since there are people in this class who are actually psych majors I feel as though the curve for people just taking this as a GE are screwed over. Don't recommend this class if you don't want to teach the material to yourself.
Take him, hes truly an awesome professor to have.
Dr. Lindsey is a great teacher and a kind man. He doesn't count for attendance and lectures are boring but you need to attend them in order to grasp the material. Only graded by four tests that he gives the questions to the week before. Very easy to talk to and ask for help. Overall a very easy class and a great teacher. Highly recommend him!
Dr. Lindsey is so nice! He is very knowledgeable and cares about his students. Class is based on 4 exams and he drops the lowest one. He gives you the questions the week before, so you need the textbook to find the answers. Definitely go to class even though he doesn't take attendance bc it was sad when no one came to class.
Dr. Lindsey is one of my favorite professors ever! I took his Social Psychology class this past semester and it was so fun. You have four tests but he drops your lowest grade. You do need the textbook because he basically gives you the test questions in class but you have to find them in the textbook. Use the practice questions in the book too!
I took Jan term psych1300. Class was very easy. No homework, attendance was not factored, and was able to leave early most days. Both tests were take home.
His lectures are so boring and yet erratic. He reads directly from the textbook and then goes off on crazy tangents. He is kind and his tests are crazy easy (he basically gives you the answers) but the lectures are almost unbearable
I have never met a student who complains about Dr. Lindsey. Show up, study, and you will get a good grade. Plus, Dr. Lindsey is very responsive to emails if you ever need any help. Not to mention he is a great guy and does everything he can to minimize the stress of his class.
If you try in his class, there should be no problem. The only people who perform poorly are those who : A. do not show up to class and miss important announcements B. do not want to put any work into a class whatsoever C. do not seek any help from Dr. Lindsey throughout the semester
If you take Dr. Lindsey's class just know that you are probably not going to learn a lot. It is really easy to get a A in his class because he LITERALLY gives out the test questions as review. He always cancels class or lets us out early. If you are looking for an easy psych class and don't really care about learning the material, take him.
Dr. Lindsey is the sweetest man ever. I never went to this class and didn't learn a single thing. All you have to do is show up to the exam review to get an A in this class. 3 exams and a final, you can drop one of the exams, and they are all 50 multiple choice.
Took Health Psych as a summer class and I thoroughly enjoyed it! The tests were take home, and he usually ended class a little early! Super nice guy and definitely knows his stuff. Also hilarious. Highly recommend his class to anyone, one of my favorite teachers so far at SMU!
Very sweet professor that cares about his students. Grade is based off 4 tests (drop 1) but he practically gives you the answers during review days. Taking him for all my psych minor classes.
Perfect prof for any student. 4 exams, lowest dropped, he TELLS YOU THE QUESTIONS A WEEK AHEAD. If you're not academic, show up to the test reviews, ace the tests, easy class. If you want to learn, come to the lectures! They're really interesting and insightful! Either way, you can learn as much as you want without worry about your grade
Full stop, I have no idea why he said we HAVE to come to class. Everything on the tests is word for word from the textbook, and he will just ramble in class for an hour and leave you more confused as to why you're there than if you just read the textbook. If you make a quizlet to study for the exam, don't make it public or he gets mad.
I really like Dr. Lindsey! He is very knowledgeable and caring. Graded on only 4 tests but he drops the lowest grade, so if you do well on the first 3 you don't have to take the final. The tests are 100% from the textbook, so make sure you read! He does a test review a week before and gives you the questions, so go to class!! Would reccommend!
graded by 4 tests and lets you drop the lowest, his reviews help a lot so make sure to attend. Super nice and one of my favorite teachers! TAKE HIM!
Best teacher ever. I want to take him for all my psychology classes if possible. Though his classes are very easy, he is great at teaching the lessons and really understands and helps students by using real world issues.
I would totally recommend Dr. Lindsey. His class is very easy, but his lectures are boring. He gives you the questions for the exams a week before the actual exam. There are 4 tests and one gets dropped. Make sure to read the textbook since the questions are directly from the textbook. Such a sweetheart of a guy!
The GOAT of psych professors!
Lindsey is one of the best professors I've had at SMU. I also had him for Psychology of Religion. He cares for your success so just make sure you communicate with him if you need to and he will accommodate as needed, fairly. Gets grades in quick. Read the text. In class reviews are going to help majorly. No papers! Take Lindsey for sure!
He gives you every test question and told us which two chapters from the textbook we needed to read for the test. He made the class very easy. The lectures aren't the most engaging, but all of the information is in the textbook.
Dr. Lindsey is such a sweet, knowledgeable professor who really wants his students to succeed. Take him!!
I LOVE Lindsey, Had him my first semester, planning on taking him for two classes my last semester. Always willing to work with you, and if you come to class and participate, he may be willing to round you a point or two for a better grade
Such a sweet and caring teacher. He wants everyone to succeed in his class.
This professor is the best. Every semester I search the course catalog for his name and enroll regardless of the subject because it's a guaranteed A and he's a sweet professor. Before the exams he does a "review" which is just him reading off the actual test prompts (you still have to study tho bc he just gives you the questions not the answers)
This is the worst professor I have ever met. You cannot understand anything he says because the lectures are all over the place, refuses to help when students have questions by acting like he didn't understand, and he is severely opinionated, angry towards students. Blames students for "not studying" if they ask a question.
Total waste of time and money if you have to learn the material for real, I have no idea why he said we HAVE to come to class. Everything on the tests is word for word from the textbook, and he will just ramble in class for an hour on the days he doesn't just let us out early or cancel class.
A's for everyone and you don't even have to go to class cause NOTHING in class will be on the exam and all the questions on the exams are found online from the book. YAAAAAYYYYY!!! Hey SMU psych department, if you want to keep your accreditation, how about checking into why this guy and Kloner are so popular?
such an embarrassment to our department, a waste of time for all, and a joke of a course
Plenty of opportunities to improve grade and one test is dropped
a joke of a professor and course but you'd be an idiot if you get anything below an A
Grade was 100% exam based, 4 exams and one gets dropped. Extremely easy didn't score below a 95 on an exam but I didn't really learn anything this semester as he didn't teach. He scribbles on the board and then made us do group "presentations" for half the semester which was an excuse for us to teach ourselves so he didn't do anything for half
Tests are easy for obvious reasons but he is so lazy and the material that you won't learn will be needed again later for psych majors, becuase of this i don't recommend
It's a free A for nothing but he sure as hell takes his time posting them. I have no idea what the course is about but tests are easy with tools, take him.
Professor is engaging and respectful. His lectures directly follow the book. I suggest 1) read the syllabus 2) show up to class 3) read the textbook 4) review for exam. Repeat steps 2, 3, and 4. Interesting class
Easy once you figure out how to cheat but don't expect the course to help you if you need it for a major. The guy is totally calling it in on his job, likely about to retire, giving a's to all who stay breathing.
Joke of a class, prof not caring if you learn or not, everything is online so everyone cheats (he knows this, doesn't care).
Lazy, easy professor who forces you to attend their daily ramblings for no reason.
Literally a complete and utter waste of time with a man who mumbles the entire hour.
Free and easy A if you can stomach the monotone lectures, attendance no longer required which helps, but awful experience when attending. His only worth is being SMU's GPA booster.
Such a joke.
Such a waste of time and the reason why students make fun of "psychology" courses.
The tests are fairly easy he gives you a lot of the questions so attend the lectures leading up to the exam. He is so sweet but definitely a little boring during his lectures but the attendance isn't required.
He's super sweet and if he sees you go to class a lot will round ur grade if it comes to it. He's great just super monotone w no slides to look off of. Granted his exams are super easy for obvious reasons
Michael is truly the sweetest professor ever. Some find it hard to follow lectures bec theres not powerpoint but i really enjoyed his lectures. attendance is optional but he gets sad when people dont come. he makes it clear what you need to know for your exams and you can drop a test. you will do great if you but in a base line level of effort
He's easy and there's no required attendance. He's also boring and it is totally pointless to take this course as you learn nothing. Wouldn't take him again. Couldn't bear to get through the lectures like the 8 times I was eve there.
All I can say is spare yourself the confusion from vague lectures that make absolutely no sense and follow no pattern.
Super nice guy, always willing to answer questions. Lectures consist of him talking, no slides involved, so they're hard to follow and learn the content, but all tests come straight from the textbook and are super easy
mr lindsey is a great guy and super smart when it comes to psych, attendance isnt mandatory so a lot of people dont come, and the test are very straightforward.....but i loved his lectures and learned a ton about the brain and psyc, overall the class is easy and if you want to learn is a great opportunity to learn from him.
Great professor & easy exams. Love him.
Class is enabling a of an old man and u can't stay awake Exams are nothing like he talks about
Everyone takes him bc no attendance and he's easy but he's boring.
I have never waisted
The only reason people take him is bc of no attendance and easy A. All of that is true. Also boring as hell.
He is known for being an "easy" professor, but this class is hard to understand. The lecture is just reading the book and discussing things that are not on the test. He gives us the test questions before tests, but somehow they make studying even more difficult. He is nice, but I would not recommend, especially if you are not a psyc major.
Majorly disorganized. He's not shown up for class many times, sometimes not even sending an email. With group projects, he wasn't there for questions and assigned people to groups who aren't even in the class. He told me the wrong chapters for the test when I missed review day. He gives inaccurate info during lectures and uses outdated textbook.
One of the best professors I've had. Truly an amazing professor and would definitely take again!
Everyone gets an A at the end because he is SOOOOO unorganized he knows if he tries to hold any of us lower in grade, we will rightfully revolt and grade challenge him because he is so incompetent. Out of touch, inorderly, not a good teacher.
If you're looking for an easy A, take him. If you're not, still take him because he's really bright, but he really only goes off the textbook. You can teach yourself what he lectures just by reading.
He just rambles and it doesn't match the book so you so won't know what to study.
Super easy and not mandatory attendance. Tests are a lot of questions but multiple choice, there are 4 tests throughout the course but one gets dropped so if you do well on the first 3 you can skip the final. There are one or 2 other assignments but they are easy. Make sure to start getting the 8 study credits at the beginning of the semester.
Way to hard for the easy professor and really unorganized and doesn't show up to class and without explaining it.
Worthless class but easy A, don't even know what to say about the professor as i never went to class and still made an A, seems okay guy though
This man is a legend. Taken every class he teaches. Favorite professor I've taken -- no one even comes close.
People take him bc he's an easy A and is a very nice man but that's not helpful for those of us who are needing to learn the material. Easy A, useless course with a man who doesn't know how to teach.
It is an embarrassment to SMU to have teachers literally NOT DO ANYTHING but give As to everyone even those who are never there and don't read. YOU'RE TELLING EVERYONE OUR DEGREES ARE FOR SALE. He and kloner are the worst for this and for those of us who want to take our subject matter seriously.
Dr. Lindsey is super cool, super chill, and an overall great person. Class is easy and laid back.
Terrible teacher but gives all As which is why you take him. Just don't expect to learn or need to go to higher classes.
Mr. Lindsey is a great teacher. He tells you all the questions on the test to study for during "test review day," and there is absolutely zero homework. The only thing is if you don't do well on a test, there are only four throughout the year that pretty much make up your whole grade (but he also never looks up for a second during tests ifykyk)
You can cheat on his tests. That's why we take him.
lectures are so horrible to sit through but only grades are four tests which you can easily cheat on he literally doesn't give af
Literally boring ahl and everybody cheats on his tests and he never even bothers looking up no matter how many phones are obviously out no lockdown so stupid
THE GOAT. TAKE HIM IF YOU CAN. I CANT EXPRESS HOW CLUTCH HE IS
Literally rampant cheating in his class in tests and he doesn't gaf
GOATEDDDD MAN!! He's so adorable, and it's a very easy class. Just show up to review day and test day and you will be fine. Easy grade-booster!!!!
He gives exam reviews which are almost identical to the exams, which is helpful. Lectures are very boring
Literally a free A because everyone cheats. So if you're into paying for grades as many of your are, this is your class! SMU is a joke st this points and so are your degrees.
Worthless class but easy A, don't know what else to say about the professor other than he's willfully incompetent in maanging a class and will let everyone cheat. Other than than, seems nice but if you don't cheat your grade will suffer so we all cheat.
Great professor, took every class he offered
He does test reviews and allows you to get a good grade in the class if you try. He is also generous with extra credit. All of you who are complaining, get a life. Psychology is not going to get you a job, and SMU is not known for it, so don't blame the professor; blame yourself for making a poor decision.
He's really chill and only grades tests and there's usually extra credit
Dr. Lindsey is such a chiller. Drives around in an S class like an absolute baller. Tons of cheating but doesn't gaf about it but his TA does. You can get an A if you put the effort in though. He cold calls people that are distracted and it's hilarious. Took this class for CC and learned a decent amount about my mind. 4 exams n lowest grade drops
If you like cheating this is your class.
Want to wonder whether you are good enough of a cheater in a class of cheaters to make it to the very top and grab one of the many As he's been handing out like candy? Well, this IS YOUR COURSE!
chiller, so nice, willing to give extra credit and round grades.
Our field faces enough criticism, and his teaching style does nothing to benefit us.
Is it really cheating if the Prof. LITERALLY gives you all the exam questions on test review day? I'm not a fan of academic dishonesty, but if that's the class environment, I'm not above studying those answers in advance. Aside from confusing lectures and cold calls, he's very sweet and goofy. Minimal learning for an easy A. That's the tradeoff.
Allows so much cheating that you're screwed if you don't cheat.
