He is a great teacher! This was probably my favorite class:) You learn a lot and he makes learning very enjoyable. We talk about some very interesting topics in class. Reading is mandatory too pass your quizzes, not too hard. He helps you out with EVERYTHING you can need help on. He is the best english teacher I have ever had. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Although this is one of the hardest classes I've taken at FC, it was also one of the best. Really informative. He's very entertaining and totally helpful. I recommend him for sure.

Great professor. He really new his stuff and followed the syllabus.Class was basically and English class mixed with current events around the world which made it very interesting for most students I think but if you?re not into world events then you will not like the class.

This class was fun. He was new in fc when i took it last semester, but he was the best eng. teacher. lots of essay and quiz every class. this class is tough, if you are just looking for easy A, this class is not for you. But if you really want to learn, then this class is the best eng. class. He really has passion in teaching.

I have learned more in this class then I have learned in all my other college classes combined. Even if you fail this class, it is still worth taking. As long as you do the homework you should do fine. Awsome teacher!

Probably the best teacher I've ever had in my 13 years of education. You learn so much in his class, and it's all relevant and interesting. You have to earn your grade in this class though. It isn't easy. But don't let the challenge stop you from taking his class.

One of my favorite classes! Very Interesting & he is hilarious! The class is easy if you do all the reading. Daily quizzes. He drops lowest four, easy midterm and easy final. 8-10 page paper due at end of semester, but clearly explains what you should make sure you include in it. If i wasnt trasferring, I would take another class that he teaches.

Mr. Mangan was such an amazing instructor! He is very open minded and takes time to help students out. I definitely recommend him to future eng 100 students.

Prof Mangan is the man! Best professor I have taken so far. His class is difficult at times, but always interesting. He mixes in current events, etc. to make it a very good class. He also does not mess around. Take him if you wanna have a good time in English class.

One of the best professors I have had in my almost two years in college. The class is challenging but if you put in the work and keep up, you will have no problem being successful. I had Mangan for both English 60 and 100 and because of him I learned to love writing. Not only is he helpful and passionate about his job but he is extremely intelligent. Professor Mangan is the first english teacher that has ever made English fun. I was very blessed to have a great teacher. I had many fears of putting ideas on to paper but now they're gone. I highly recommend you take his class. I am thinking of taking his eng 103 class so that I can further develop my writing ability.

He is the best English professor I have had at Fullerton. he makes class interesting the readings are definitely very understandable . He is super helpful when the students need help. If you seriously want to actually learn take this man cause he most definitely opens your eyes to literature.

Spring '14. The class was surprisingly enjoyable. I have social anxiety and was scared for most of the class about group discussions--but he makes it easy, providing guidelines about what you should be discussing about. He's flexible on essays more than other professors on what and how you write from the prompt. There's no "My way only" from him!

Hands down best English Professor at FC. Taught me to push myself to my limit. There's a reading quiz every week, he helps students how to write an essay and gives us great lessons that helps with our essays. His teaching is GREAT and HELPFUL. I would take him again. It's a tough class but like he says "you get the grade you deserve"

Great Instructor! Very passionate about what he does and very helpful. He is also very nice and FUNNY and tells stories that are relate-able to us because he is kind of young. His papers are sort of challenging but he helps you a lot. And he does a lot of exercises that help. Take him and hes not bad to look at either (;

This teacher was by far the best I ever had. His talks are amazing! He really gets you thinking about things and he makes them more of a class discussion verses a lecture. There is a lot of reading but he had a cool way of having us take notes. The class was small, about 25 people. He really makes you work for your grade. I hope to take him again!

Mr. Mangan is an amazing teacher. His lectures are both interesting and inspiring. He has a way of getting you to understand and appreciate literature. I truly appreciated the fact that he was never condescending to his students. The reading is fair and there are quizzes at the beginning of every class. Don't miss those, it could cost you that A!

A truly great professor. Inspirational lectures, passionate and knowledgeable of his subject. He will never make you feel stupid, even if you're not 100% correct, he will guide you in the right direction. However, he is not an easy grader. If you're looking for an easy A, this isn't it. But he's super helpful and will help you any chance he gets.

He is a great teacher, he is a tough grader. If you want an easy A, this is not the class. But be prepared for ENG 104, you read a lot and talk a lot about drugs, sex and death. If you can't handle that, don't take this class. He really wants to see you succeed and he is always willing to help as long as you're doing your best.

I took Mangan for English 103 and from the get go he was really great. He's my favorite professor so far. He does makes you work hard for your grade, but he's definitely willing to help as much as you need it. He's truly a teacher who wants to see his students succeed. If he's teaching a class you're looking at, totally go for it.

Prof. Mangan is a GREAT professor. He is very specific about what he wants from his students. He is not a tough grader, but his class is not an easy A either. I took this class 5 years ago, and he is still remaining as my #1 English teacher. He was just starting his teaching at FJC. I never missed a class and enjoyed every single classes. He is AWESOME! Enjoy every moment of your college life. You will miss it for sure ;)

English is my favorite subject so I expected going into ENG212 that i would love it regardless of the professor but i was pleasantly surprised by Mangan. His lectures are exciting and informative, quizzes easy if you read thoroughly, and he connects the class to the bigger picture. If you are also an English major there really isnt anyone else

Having Mangan for one course really changed my life. He is really inspirational, and his class is more than just English. He really makes you think about life and social issues. He's not a terribly difficult grader, but his expectations are clear. I was always excited to attend class, because his lectures really interesting. Must do the readings!

I've had the honor of being in Mangan's class for a semester. He is highly opinionated. Don't take the class if you're easily offended, but why do so? He's made me question- and even change- my stances on numerous topics through lectures, readings, and essays. Easily one of the best classes I've taken here at Fullerton College.

By far the best teacher I have ever had in my educational career. I took him for two separate english classes. He really does care a lot about his students. Show up and participate in class, and you'll do great. I learned so much from Mangan, I wish I needed to take more English courses just so I could be in his class again. BEST TEACHER EVER!!

One of the best professors I've ever had! Lectures were incredible and were worth the class alone. He will make you fascinated in English even if its not your major. Hilarious but also truly cares about his students. Responds to e-mails fast and will do anything he can to help you out. Also disregard reviewer under me. Chili pepper don't lie.

Quizzes at the beginning of every class. Gives amazing lectures, truly an intelligent man. Gives very good feedback on essays. It's not fun unless you do the readings. Final Essay prompt is given in advance so there's a lot of time to work on it. Easy Class if you do the readings!

Taking this class gave me back my writing confidence! Not only that but it revived my love for learning in general. You'll never be bored in his class, the readings are guaranteed to be interesting. Mangan is well informed so his opinions are based on fact and he always asks the students what they think about the material.

Mangan is truly one of the best professors I have ever had. He really makes you think. My view of the world has definitely changed after taking his class. He is highly intelligent and can keep you entertained for 3 hours. He can however, be a tough grader, but that's what made me a better writer. He kinda reminds me of Chandler from Friends.

Definitely the best class I have take so far in college. His honors 103 class was amazing. His lectures were always very intriguing and made you want to participate. I would recommend taking his class. He makes class fun and all of the assignments are given way in advance. He is there to help with all essays and his voice feedback is so helpful.

Mangan has got to be the best professor I ever had hands down! He is great at his job and never loses my attention during his lectures. I took his class at 7a.m. and I thought it was gonna be bad having class that early but he made it worth it. Yes, you do quite a bit of work but he is very understanding with grading and will help you succeed.

He makes the class interesting!! I look forward to hearing what he has to say about the topics he chooses- which arent boring. Theres 3 out of class and 2 in class essays, one of which is the final. Hes a fair grader and even offers a little bit of extra credit (you have to show you improved in your writing to get it). Hes a very cool person.

Professor Mangan was so kind and helpful. He was my teacher for spring 2020 when covid-19 hit in March. We had to shut school down and go all online. He was very accommodating and understanding. At the same time, he still posted amazing video lectures that really helped me understand the material better. I felt like I was actually learning.

The only summer course I took, and the class was completely online. Although it was fast pased I learned a lot from this class. The professor gives great feedback on your essays, all the books were great to read, and there is always a chance for a little extra credit. Definite would recommend to take him for ENGL102.

Michael Mangan is a wonderful English professor. It's truly easy to see why he heads the English department, as he is not only funny, but also knowledgeable and well-organized. He has to be one of the best English professors at FC which is a feat considering I'm an English major. Even with COVID-19, he gave explicit instructions and was incredible!

This was a class I would definitely take again. I learned what I wanted to learn and got good feedback. I love to read so that was really fun. He also gives great lectures. I also love his campus. There are lots of areas to walk around as well as great indoor spaces. Overall this was a great class in an amazing school.

I took him for English 222 and I have never had any professor be so thorough in analyzing American literature themes and connecting it to other disciplines. Students who think that he's not a good professor are not good students. Mangan actually gives you everything you need to pass and excel in all of your future literature courses.

Professor Mangan is awesome, and has made the online learning thing much more tolerable. He gives 3 separate lectures a week (one is longer than the other two), and gives reasonable expectations for work. He will acknowledge if he is assigning a lot, and go easy to make up for it elsewhere. He's fantastic and I wish I could take him again!

Mangan is probably one of the better English teacher's i've had. He's very understanding and 'laid back' in his approach to teaching. He goes over readings well and makes the class very interesting. Do the readings and watch the mini lectures, and you should be fine.

One of the best Professors Ive had at FC. Outline for his class is clear with one weekly lecture & two weekly assessments on the readings. 3 essays which are simple. Lectures are very interesting & help a lot with assignments. Chances for extra credit. Always willing to help students & answer questions. Put the effort in and youll pass easy.

Even though it was online, Mangan still met with me a couple times over zoom to help me with my essay and other questions I had. He also heads the English department so he can tell you when classes are going to be scheduled in the future which I found useful. I would definitely take a class from him again.

Taking this guy's class on campus this fall. It's weird because we all wear masks, but Mangan's made it work pretty well. Not the easiest class but he's always willing to help too. Interesting topics from current day. Funny guy.

Professor Mangan was a great professor! There is reading every class day and a quiz that goes along with the reading but the quizzes are super easy. As long as you keep up with your work you will pass. The essays are not that hard as long as you pay attention during your readings and stick to the instructions you will get a good essay grade.

My favorite class and professor so far at Fullerton College. He did a great job of connecting the literature we read from the past to issues that we're dealing with now in today's society. Its empowering to have a teacher who treats you and speaks to you like you're an adult. He asks a lot in terms of reading and essays but the payoff is legit.

Mangan's the man! His class is informative and fun. He expects a lot of his students but he also provides lots of help when you need it. Any student who wants to learn should take him.

Taking his online class this summer. He's been very clear and helpful about his expectations. The amount of reading and essays is do-able. Not a class you can skate by in but not the hardest class either. I would definitely take him again.

Mangan is different from literally every other teacher I've ever had, but I mean that as a compliment. I've had funny teachers before but his lectures hit different, like there's serious knowledge in there too. He's also helpful and understanding about late work. For real though: you need to read. Books have been interesting so far tho.

Mangan's really insightful, funny, and caring. Seriously, you'll be awed by his knowledge about pretty much everything. Very approachable, accessible, and accommodating. Grading rubric is clear and work load is what one would expect. A bit of reading, but he chooses great books. Just an overall cool dude that deserves the ratings he gets. Take him!

Mangan is awesome!! He is an extremely fair grader and grades from an outside point of view. Also, we worked a lot in groups and I got to meet a lot of people and learn new perspectives on what we were learning about. The class is very heavy in participation and he expects the class to respond and be able to have a conversation. 100% recommend.

Mangan cares tremendously about his students. I felt it was easier to learn because the majority of the class was spent in small groups while he talked to us rather than from a PowerPoint. We read A LOT and had an essay for each book. But we didn't have any exams or unnecessary assignments. Just stay ahead of the essays and you will do great!

I enjoyed Mangan's class a lot. Discussion topics were always interesting even for an early morning class. He helped me in office hours with both research papers. Made it clear early on he wanted us to succeed and even asked us for suggestions on how to help sometimes. There was a fair amount of reading though so be ready of that.

TAKE HIM! Any student who wants to learn should take him. He's funny & wise. His honors 103 class was the best class I've take in college. Do the work, prepare for occasional quizzes, and talk to him. Half of the work is communicating to him. Would take again!

Great class. He's definitely blunt but I think in a good way and the overall vibe is chill. There's a fair amount of reading but not much other homework. Lots of class discussion and small exercises on things like research. I'm taking him for another class next semester.

I took Michael Mangan twice because I liked him so much. I think it's simply a crime that I can't write more about him. He inspires his students to become independent and critical thinkers. While the workload can be a lot, he's still very fair. There's never a boring day in his class. He enjoys listening to his students' opinions.

11/10 Professor. When I first took ENG 100 I got really lucky to end up with Professor Mangan. I liked him so much I took him again for ENG 103. A decent amount of the students in my class took him again because they liked him so much. Each day there was a quiz on the reading material the night before and they were easy if you actually read.
