Great teacher! I recommend him to anybody!

I can't really talk because I'm very good at math. So I find the class very easy but he puts in a lot of effort to make sure you understand the work. He also gives you full credit on your homework if you at least tried to finnish every problem but if one problem isn't done he will take off points for it. You get a quiz every Wed. and a test at the end of a section. He drops your lowest test score and quiz score so don't worry about messing up on one. He's also funny so I don't fall asleep in his class.

He is a great teacher. He is funny. If you have an A at the end of the semester, you dont have to take the final. All you have to do is sign your name and thats it.

At the top of his game. This instructor cares deeply for his discipline, his students and his ability to teach others.

Prof. Mayne is pretty great. He explains the material thoroughly and makes it easy to understand. He's a pretty funny guy as well.

Mayne is so good I had to take him for 095. he made me want to take math. Before him i was always able to get the answer but never understood how. Mr. Mayne makes math fun and he is not that bad to look at. I can't wait to go to Cal State and take him there. I don't want another math teacher. I think he also may be my first teacher crush. LOL! than

M.Mayne is awesome. As long as you come to class everyday and do your homework every night you should get a good grade. He doesn't even grade your homework it's based on effort

He makes sure everybody understands before he moves on. Don't feel embarassed to ask questions either, he will make sure you understand and not make you feel stupid. Mayne is tight.

omg his the best teacher i even have straight out perfect scores on my quizzes which i never had we havequiz every thursday and a test at the end of the chapter his cool and also his "mayne problems" u have to be there to get it and if you just try by doing your homework completely he will give u creditbut if u have one problem missing he wont take

Don't take his 1 hr. section..you have to rush through every exam and quiz and he usually arrives 10 minutes late to class. Otherwise, he is a great professor! Attendance is enforced! His exams aren't tricky at all (usually his exam questions reflect questions which you've encountered in lecture or homework). He can be condescending at times.

I took this class before and the teacher did not help, but when i took mayne, i completely understood everything..i went from a D, the first time, to a high A with mayne and i know i deserved it

Took in the summer, 3 hours for 5 days. Would recommend. You won't forget the material & it's fast! Mayne is awesome. Very light, easy going, chill. He really does want you to succeed. If you go AND do the homework, you'll pass with a B. The final is hard, don't under estimate it!

He is a great professor. Has a very well strategy of teaching. He explains the material very well. If you don't understand certain material, he takes the time to assist. I reccomend this class to anyone who wants to learn. You have to be in class to learn the material. He also teaches at Cal State San Bernardino. Thanks professor.

Professor Mayne is a great professor. He makes it feel like he cares about your success and understanding of the math. Before professor Mayne I had minor trouble in Math 090. I got an A in his class and understand 95 of the material. I would highly recommend Professor Mayne to anyone(: He cares!

I am now taking Precal/Trig and I must say that all he has taught me, I've been able to use in this class. He teaches the material very well. He is one of the greatest professors I've ever had. Besides that, he takes the time to help the student if you ask for it. He even wrote a letter of recommendation for the school I'm applying. Take his class!

you will love this teacher he lets you use a calculator for everything even the final but he expects you to show work! overall the class is easy but you have to show up everday other wise you will fail his class.

Awesome!!! I took him twice, once for 952 and then again for 102. Weekly quizzes are easy and tests are straight forward. He is extremely helpful. Mayne is extremely knowledgeable and willing to clarify until you get it. An easy "A"

Took class Summer 2011. Prof really helpful. Avlble to help understand. Has sense of humor. Fun environment, just go to class,take notes, do HW. There are quizes & tests that will help you not to scare you. Most def highly recommend.

Prof Mayne is an outstanding teacher. I was horrible with math and had a hard time understanding. After taking him for 090 and 095 i was at the top of both classes and am now very excited for math and school itself. I would recommend taking him over and over!

Prof. Mayne is cooler than the other side of the pillow! He has a knack for taking math jargon and text-book-speak and making it simple. He’s very calculating as it relates to what needs to be taught and what can be skipped in the book. This keeps the focus while also getting you prepared for higher maths. I am taking him again in the fall.

Professor Mayne is an excellent teacher. He makes calculus easy to understand. Make sure you do your homework, and review your notes every single day and you will be fine. He makes a C grade as low as 65% and drops your lowest test, homework and quiz. However, he grades the tests very hard, so make sure you pay attnetion to detail.

He is a really excellent teacher and he doesnt have an accent like most math teachers so it is really easy to understand him. I would take him again if he taught Calc II.

Phenomenally structured, organized learning. No surprises. I hated math, but, now I'm surprising myself! He helped me exceed my own expectations and is passionate about his job. This teacher is honestly thee best! I was never good at math, I hated it, but he changed that for me. Now Im getting A's. He is an amazing teacher hes funny, entertaining, helpful, clear in his teachings methods & is really down to earth. He doesn't just teach math, but life lessons. look the Mayne lines is...is that he makes math fun. I hated math with a passion and he is really helpful. People who are complaining about how hard his class is, are probably trying to balance other hard classes at the same time. Just do the work and attend class everyday, you will be fine. The tutors are a great help as well.

Mayne is a great professor, no matter what anyone says. His lectures move quick because no one asks questions. His tests always reflect what he assigns on homework, there are no surprises. This is probably the best math professor at valley. Guy is clear and helpful. I was .2 percent away from an A, which ticked me off but overall I learned. This is not an easy A because you have to do your homework.

This teacher is awesome! Although, NOT an easy A!! He teaches math the long way but its helpful later. Hw is mandatory, and he will not go over all problems from the hw. Quizez just 5 problems, test 20 problems, but be careful, he tricks you!

Great teacher, even though he shows up late every single day. he strolls in to class like 10 minutes after. but when he is ready, you need to be ready with homework questions and he collects it immediately, so no late work. he is strict because he wants his students to succeed. if i have to take more math later on, then i will take his class

Super cool teacher who actually cares that students pass with good grades. He is strict about HW and attendance, and he gives quizzes every single week. But then you are prepared for the tests if you do well. And his TA Ivan is also super helpful. I highly recomend his classes

Honest and real. He dont play so be on time and turn in the HW on time. Do that and do good in the quizzes and you wont have any problems passing his class. I feel so much better having taken him for 102 hopefully I can take him for more math classes. I got a B and thats cool.

Best math teacher I ever had at Valley! Math makes sense when he teaches it. He assigns quite a bit of HW daily and a quiz every week, but as a student you are very prepared for success in math. AMAZING professor!!! I took him during the summer and passed with a super high A! Math is not at all my subject but I did very well in his class. Dropped the lowest test AND quiz score!! Attendance is strongly encouraged so you do not fall behind in the class. Definitely will take him for other math classes!! :)

I failed calculus in past but Mayne made it clear for me this semester. I admit i dont like his grading but his quizzes and all the homework he assigns is really good because this prepares you. If you want to be ready to move ahead in calculus, Mayne will help you alot. I don't like his grading, but I wish he taught calc 2. i would sign up for him

Professor Mayne tells you at the beginning: "Show up to class, do your homework, read the book and you'll pass the class" - he's right! Get the book before the first class-you'll need it. He's fair, keeps grades current, is very clear-and he cares about his students. He even gives you time to do some of your homework in class. Great professor!!!

Homework every single day, a quiz every week, and a test every chapter. A great lecturer who gives you every thing you need to get it. And an SI who knows his math so well. you know what i am glad I am done with math at Valley. I am glad I finished in Mayne's class. he is such a nice and funny teacher. if you ask for help he will help you. he is a unique individual who is loved and respected by students. i never liked math but if i had to take more i would take his classes again in a heartbeat.

Professor Mayne goes easy on yea compared to Dr. Strong or Professor Lee in 251. However, you will develop a strong foundation in Calculus. He knows his Cal, and is so tactfully hilarious! He gets to the point, the nitty gritty. He is able to simplify concepts for anyone to understand. Work hard, and you will get an A.

I did excellent in this man's classes. I am transfering to a 4 year college after this year, I can honestly say that Mr Mayne inspired me beyond math. He took time in his office hours to give me moral and intellectual support. His wisdom and faith speak volumes with students like myself. I pray that I encounter more teachers like this man. Enroll!

I took this professor because of the good rating he had. However, he gives like 50 minutes to take a test which is very hard to finish. If you don't finish he doesn't care. Also, he doesn't give a review he just tells you what sections to know. Good luck

He is an excellent instructor, very helpful. Homework is every day, attendance is mandatory. If you are in the hospital with appendicitis, those absences will still count. If you want an understanding professor, do not choose him. And I have no proof of this, but I'm pretty sure he holds grudges and that will reflect on your grade.

Hands down one of the best if not best math professors. Show up to class everyday, copy the notes he gives on how to do the work, DO THE HOMEWORK & turn it in on time. If your struggling, he has office hours twice a week for 2 hours each time plus unofficial office hours on other days usually same time. Also go to the SI sessions for more help.

Where shall I begin? Homework? All the time but its understandable. Quizes? every week! Tests? about every 2-3 weeks which can be very stressful. He gave us 10 free extra credit points that's it will not do more. Drops lowest quiz and test. This class was very stressful at times. Math majors still struggled in the class that says alot.

Wonderful teacher I took his class during the summer 2015 yes test & quizzes weekly homework everyday but his grading system makes it easier for you to pass. SO DO ALL THE WORK! This is not an easy class,so if you take him be prepared to work but it's not impossible to pass either he's a really great teacher and he's also very helpful.

He is hilarious, and tends to lecture alot. breaks everything down to a T, i took him in summer but everything was fast, so it was a struggle. the homework is must do, if you dont you dnt pass. Prof. Mayne is an amazing teacher. I went from failing high school math to being the top of my class. Show up, listen to his lectures and do the homework. Put effort into paying attention and doing hw and the tests and quizzes should be a breeze. His classes are easy to pass with a decent grade but only if you put in effort!

MAYNE is wassup! I passed math 102 (finally!) I am transferring and I owe so much to the man. All that homework and all them quizzes were for the best. LOTS OF HW. But his class was worth Every bit of all of it

Maynes 250 was great for me. Lots of HW and lots of practice, and quizzes every week. Tests are no surprises either. Ask questions and he'll clarify for the students. He knows what he is teaching, the class is easy. He is open to questions, and will take the time to explain it to you. He is nice and easy to get along with. There are plenty of quizzes, 2-3 questions, VERY easy. Tests are easy as well, just make sure you understand the material. Daily homework, but hey practice makes perfect.

This class is hard if you DONT SHOW UP. He gives great lectures and explains things in a clear way. He even helps review those things you forgot from the last course the first few classes. Most of his classes at valley will have mandatory SI sessions that you will be graded on attending too (student tutoring outside class). My favorite math teacher

The professor is very attentive and makes you feel like you are more than just a number. Even though Professor Mayne is not technically considered an "easy A" professor in his College Algebra course, but he is wonderful. His eight week course may seem overwhelming, but with the assistance of his SI tutor and the tutors in SSC make it worth it.

He talks fast but easy to understand.. he will help you if you need it and point you in the direction. The best teacher so far.

His down to earth and philosophical teaching style opened up my eyes. We are all capable of accomplishing what we put our time and effort into. I took professor Mayne for 102 and 103 during the summer and got and A and B in his class. Thats over the summer! He is a great professor and truly cares about his students success. He uses a lot of different colored markers during his lectures that way you wont get lost in the steps needed to complete your equations. Just be prepared for homework

I took this class 1 year ago with Mayne and now I am moving on in math because of him. He and Ivan, great team (professor & TA) both inspired me to strive. now i am an engineering major. Mayne never waters down the math, and he expects the worthy ones to rise up to the challenges. and he HELPS if you ask him. Believe me, Mayne equals compassion

It 's important to Prof. Mayne that his students be successful and prepared to move on to higher level math classes. He is tough, you have to earn your grade, but he is available to answer your question and is willing to work with you. He is straight forward with what he expects from his students.

095 is hard, but Professor Mayne gets you through it and was always there after class or in his office to answer any questions I had. If you hate Math this prof. will change your mind!

Mayne is a great Math professor. He really cares about his students and hopes the best for them. I hated Math when I was in high school, but after coming to SBVC and met Mayne my first year he has made me LOVE Math. Till this day I have considered to take Math as a minor major. He is a great friend, mentor, and professor.

I had taken his Math 102 over the summer and it was difficult but that was because it was in summer. My best advice is to get together with other classmates and form a study group it helped a lot. Math 103 I had taken it in the summer, it was a challenge and wanted to give up but Mayne kept on cheering for me to keep on pushing with the force. To not give up, I made it so far to give up. Mayne is a great professor, he cares for his students. He dose his part and you have to do your part. He will not feed you, you have to work for it.

Attend all class sessions. He's a great professor with no grey area. If you miss class during a quiz/test you will not be able to make it up, however, he will allow you to make up homework. He's very funny, really good about going over what you do not understand. End of the class he throws a potluck for everyone. I did the cohort 090 to 095.

Took Mayne for Calculus and let me tell you... Calculus is no joke! I was not ready nor prepared and I fell behind real quick. But I kept my head up and stuck with it and eventually made it out on the other side. Mayne is very inspirational and he wants you to succeed. If you have an A by the time the final comes, you don't have to take the final!

Took Mr. Mayne for 090, 095, and 102 & I absolutely loved his classes! Seriously the best professor at valley college. If you are struggling with math his lectures will help you understand it. You are required to attend class everyday in order to not fall behind & you will be given homework on the daily but nothing too bad its just extra practice.

I took this class as a pre-req. for Math 102 & it was a great experience. Professor Mayne is inspirational, funny, & he cares about his students. If you work hard in his class & show up everyday on time, then you'll do fine! He respects you a lot more for it too. He goes over examples in depth & provides great details. Professor Mayne is very fair. He does not have pop quizzes and lets you know exactly what to prepare for each test. His lectures make difficult concepts seem intuitive. He gives out partial credit, however there is not much extra credit. If you attend every class meeting, do the quizzes, and finish all the homework, you will definitely pass.

The best professor I've ever ! I never thought I would say that about a math professor but he knows his stuff and keeps his lectures loud and entertaining (as much as he can, it's Calc) so it's easy to stay awake and attentive. Is very good at teaching effectively, is competent. Makes the lectures engaging by providing real world examples. The work is very manageable, as long as you put all your effort there is no reason why you should get a bad grade in his class. On top of that, half the class is spent working on the homework and if you need help you can just ask him.

There is an extremely clear quality difference between him and other professors I've taken before. Came in and passed calc 1 despite absolutely failing it last year with another professor. Take him!
