I hate math, and this professor made it fun and helped me understand it!
This is the worst teacher I have ever had. He doesn't understand that not everyone understand math the first time. He doesn't help you much after class. He is hard to understand in class. Also he is flat out rude to his students.
Great professor! Made math fun. Enjoyed coming to class everyday.

very funny teacher who loves math!! i love those cheesy jokes!
he is one of the best teachers in the university. he makes class very fun and i love his great jokes. he is the best.

Worst Math professor ever. He is not even helpful when you go to his office, made me feel like I was dumber than dog poo! Avoid at all costs!!!
Not the easiest class, but also not the hardiest... If you're good at math you'll do great... If you're not you might consider a different professor
he goes so fast and expects that everyone is at the same level. hes not a very good teacher. he isnt mean, but just doesnt teach very well. youll only do good if your already good at math.
It wasn't the easiest class, but it wasn't too hard either. He can be a little corny sometimes, but that's what made the class more fun. You could really tell that he loved teaching math.
He may not be the easiest professor in the world, but he's definatly one of the smartest. If you are having problems and willing to admit it he will help you how ever he can.
Kept us after class every day! Read to us from the book
He goes extremely fast, so you kind of have to already know what you're doing to do well in the class. He'll help you if you need it though, and has pretty easy tests. Also has a good sense of humor.
I think he is a good teacher, if you know what you are doing. I haven't had any troubles with the class, but I have never had a hard time with math. I think he would be hard if you had no idea how to do any math at all.
you can always expect to take notes everyday then do an assignment online. pretty easy to follow, and he is an interesting man. he always sings "any other questions"
pretty good job, if you go to class everyday
This class was awesome. Just go to class and you will do okay. all assignments are online and there are like 10 problems they arent even due unitl the test. I would take him any day
Good class, not too hard. I loved the on-line assignments. He gave reviews for the test. Often the same questions from the review or homework would be on the test. He was a good guy, but kinda creepy, like wanted to be your friend. But knowning what i know now, i still would have taken his class.
He is a great teacher. He looks serious and hard but hes funny and cool. Sit up front, follow along, don't get distracted, copy everything and you'll do great. He is pretty helpful and easy to understand. Study for the tests.
HE IS AWESOME!!! I got an A in that class. He wants you to understand the material! He knows how to teach and knows his stuff. TAKE HIM!!!
His class was hard and learning how to use the calculator along side the problems wasnt fun either. But he is VERY helpful, VERY encouraging and will work with you till you get it. He has a nice sense of humor and quite intelligent. Do his homework and follow his instruction, you can get an A.
I HATE math and even had to take zero level classes. He really helped me out in this class. I understood it and ended up making a B. I always saw him and his daughter at the grocery store I worked at too. For people that struggle in math, I think he is a good teacher.
I thought the way he tought was an effective way. He has a great and humurous attitude and he is very helpful.
he is best....of all classes i am taking...he is he most easy one....
He is soooo smart! his homework assignments usually consist of about 12 problems and the class is very easy...he is extremely clear and very helpful. good guy, he'll make you laugh
Great guy! To give you an idea of how easy the class is, I missed two days and when I got back, I learned we had a test, which I took COLD, without knowing what was on it! Made an A! Is very helpful and easy to talk to. If you know your way around a graphing calculator, you will be FINE! Trust me!
I took the new computer version of the class. I took algebra the 1st semester of college and failed despite all efforts. I made an A this time round. The professors are happy to help and you have every oppertunity to do well. TAKE THIS CLASS IF YOU HATE MATH! TRUST ME! Even the "math retarded" like me can make an A. McClendon is also really awesome

I took the computer lab class & surprisingly got an "A"! I never even made As in highschool math. He's a really good teacher. He's smart... and just be cool with him bc he'll definitely help you out :]
I didn't like this class....so I never went. It was really easy..but he made me feel really uncomfortable. easy A though.
He is the best math teacher I ever had.
He is a really good teacher! Very helpful! Easy A if you try. Definitely get him!
Great class. Very easy.
take the computer algebra class Strongly Recommended. God so stupid and easy. just study the study guide for the test and u'll get a very easy A. Mclendon is awesome a very nice guy i really liked him
he's a good prof but god is he boring. He needs to learn to break things down so that people who don't have math degrees can understand
Professor McClendon is extremely helpful. All you have to do is put forth the effort. He has a way of explaining so that you understand a little better. This is my worst subject, but as long as you are willing to ask for help when you need it and do the work you should have no problem.
Calc + Stat Class really nice and super easy....Show up to class take a lot of notes and your work will show for itself...Im generally lazy in math no h/w etc average C's in classes like this but made an "A" nice guy test study sheets are pratically TEST!
He is a very smart man, but is not good at explaining it to his students. He forgets that we, as students, do not know everything that he does. There are no homework assignments. Grades come from three tests, a few quizes, and a final. He follows the book secs., but practicing textbook questions doesn't help because his test questions are much hard
I could never get in line with him on his lectures. It seemed like he always expected us to know the theory before he actually explained it. Had to drop because I was lost!
He goes super fast in his lectures. Homework counts and the homework problems are much harder than the examples given. Would sometimes assign homework problems he himself could not solve and still took off points. But if you can study hard and devote all your time to this class, you should be okay.
There was a lot of homework, butthe online site is very userfriendly and helpful. My class was only online and I did well. Dr. McClendon was very helpful and always returned emails. A great online class!
Took the online course. Missed two the deadline for 2 assignments and couldn't take the 3rd test because you have to make at least 60% on the previous assignment before you can move on. Emailed him about it and he extended my deadline. Online course isn't hard as long as you do the work.
I had him for Calculus 1. Graded homework is essentially extra credit. In fact, he states in the syllabus that the HW could raise your grade by 2 letter grades! He lets you use a notecard on all the exams, and his tests are similar to the practice tests. Honestly, if you do all the homework, and got C's on all the tests, you'll still get an A!
Dr. McClendon is a really cool guy. He can often get off topic talking about the movie "Avatar" (he loves it) or about what we did over the weekend though. He didn't use the time in class quite efficiently as he could have so therefore, he had to cram everything in really fast before our final. Lectures go really fast so PAY ATTENTION!
His class is easy overall but his teaching style is hard for most people.I personally loved it because it was challenging and made you think outside the box instead of memorizing fifty equations. To most of the slower more tunnel visioned population,I do not recommend him but he's wonderful for people who love math or are good at it.Lots of homework
He's challenging but helpful and available during office hours and at other times. I would recommend this professor. It's challenging and also possible to get an A in his class.
I took the online course and it was great. I didn't need a book because all the material is on MY Math Lab online. You have three chances on each test. You must make above a 60% on each homework assignment to move on.I would recommend this class.
Took him for Plan Trig freshman year, very smart, funny makes class interesting; grades homework on a curve and only assigns like 7 problems at a time! Never doesn't more than an hour on homework and made a B! :) tests can be difficult but or the most part you learn a lot and it's not a total bore!
Brilliant mind, good sense of humor, and a real passion. He is not easy, but he IS fair. And by challenging you, he does a fantastic job of helping you to understand. I highly recommend him but only if you're serious about math. He eats the lazy kids alive.
Class is hard, but I love him! He is sarcastic, so if you don't have a sense of humor you probably don't want to take him, but if you actually try and pay attention he is great! He is challenging, but you learn a lot. He won't just give you a grade, but you will know what you are doing when you are done with his class.
He wants you to succeed, and he is available and willing to help you. He is brilliant, and sometimes forgets that not everyone is as well. However, I had no problems in this class, but I showed up every day, took notes, and when I was not 100% clear on something, I asked him questions after class, and he fixed that right up. Best professor I've had
I haven't heard one word from this teacher the whole course. I've emailed him numerous times and no emails back. The syllabus didn't include what I needed for the course. Mr. McClendon does not need to be teaching online courses if he doesn't even speak to his students.
I took Dr. McClendon class online, he was a great help, responded to my emails the same day. I recommend him
I'm a straight A student, and I dropped his class with a 56%. He was NO help during office hours, and was offensive during class when I asked for help.
Not very helpful in my experience. the lectures we did in class didn't pertain to the homework that well. Didn't even know when his own homework was due so often students were confused and often angered.
He is a funny guy, he cracks a lot of typical dad jokes. He is clearly a math genius and for some reason the school has him teaching College Algebra. He is way too smart to be teaching this class and does not know how to "dumb down" the material for those of us who are not math majors and just need this class for the credits.
It's only the beginning of the semester; I'm never confused that much in my life. I passed Calculus 3 with an A. For the last two quizzes, I had a F. He spends most of the class talking about homework problems, hands out the quizz and collects it back. He spends 5 minutes talking about the new materials, and we have another quizz next class period.
I'm taking his online class and I really like it! He responds to emails quickly and is more than willing to extend deadlines for you. The class is entirely through My Math Lab, which has tons of examples and is really great to learn from. The assignments are due in bulk, so you're not stressing all the time about getting stuff done. Great class!!
Took for calc 3 and 4... Gives a quiz over the hw every class- they are open notes/hw so if you do the hw, you can ace every quiz. Grades easily on tests and gives a similar study guide. If you don't go to class, you won't pass because of the quizzes, but it's not necessary to pay attention. Gives answers and shows work in office hours.
Much easier than the regular College Algebra class. Everything is through MyMathLab and you are able to improve your homework grade until you are satisfied with the grade. You have 3 attempts for the 3 exams except for the final. Absolutely recommend this online class.
He could be tough in the beginning but if you would ask him for help in anything he won't let you go without satisfying your question. Also he gives lots of Extra Credit which in the end is good for your grade. I would say he is one of the best professors i had. Thanks Professor McClendon.
If you are a math major or a pretty little thing you will be fine. 50% of class dropped him by mid term, he will not remember you name unless your a blond pin up girl and he is rude to all but the ones he does not have to answer questions for. Two people can have the same answer on a test and one will get credit while the other gets 0.
He assigns homework almost every class period. He grades tough, but don't be afraid because there will be a curve. He gives out exam reviews that are very similar to his exams. Do the review and you can do well on the test.
Disclaimer, took this class online. I received one e-mail from this professor all semester, he was not involved at all, and did absolutely no teaching. If you can teach yourself algebra using MyMathLab, awesome, then you'll do fine. If you need any help at all, look somewhere else. He is not accessible and not helpful.
This is the most understanding professor I have literally ever had. My points online were not counting, literally, none. He not only opened everything back up for me to catch up but opened the exam up (without having to get points) so I could take it and not make a 0. If I ever see his name on another math course I will be the 1st to sign up for it
I took his class and he told us what we needed to know for exams. His study guides for the exams were very similar, if not identical to the exams. If you had any question, he would answer it and not make you feel stupid. He is a great teacher and I would certainly take him again!!!!!
BUY TEXTBOOK. Hated the class but enjoyed his odd sense of humor. TONS of homework.
His teaching is a little difficult to understand. Grading system is based off points and the homework is out of 2 so if you don't get over half right you get a 0. He will not email you back unless your spending him an emailing containing your assignment if your not coming to class. Won't tell you assignments missed. Homework every day.
Doesn't seem to enjoy explaining questions. Almost always with attitude.
Awful, would not take again. Everything must be done the way he teaches it or else it is wrong.
With this professor be ready to complete assignments including homework and test his way. If you do not work out the problem the way he taught you, you will fail. I've never struggled with math until his class, he also moves quickly and doesn't have multiple ways of teaching the topics. If you don't understand you have to figure it out on your own.
Hardest Math class I have ever taken. Class average is abysmal, but in every lecture he goes on about how easy the current topic is. Grading criteria is unclear, almost no partial credit, expect to get 0s on a problem for things like flipped signs, simplification etc. He gives decent test reviews, similar to exams, but no solutions. Tons of HW.
My lord this was the worst Calc class ever. He rants about how easy the material is when it is anything but. I am an 'A' but I was getting 20's and 30's on 3 hour long homework assignments. Do not take him at all cost. He curves it a ton which is nice but youll have a 50% for the majortiy of the semester.
If you struggle in math, don't take this class. Overcomplicates very simple concepts and moves so incredibly fast. Homework every night, exams/homework are graded extremely hard, will take off points for wrong signs, etc. Really study the reviews for exams, they are practically identical to the exams. (prob the only good thing about the class)
extremely tough class. he is a very kind human and cares, but i do not think he actually understands what he is teaching so talks ALOT to hide it. he takes points off for literally everything, never go a night without homework. i had a tutor the entire semester.
Do NOT take professor McClendon, the year started out fine and I had an A until I asked a question and he degraded me in front of the entire class and said that I would not pass the next test. He will fail you on everything after you make him upset while giving other students full credit for the exact same answer.
I took Dr. McClendon for my calculus 4- class. He teaches stuff and makes you understand it. If you are ready to learn he will help you. If you are not ready to learn, even god cannot help you. LOL!
Not an awful professor. You do homework every other day, but not until 2 days later at midnight. If you have questions, just ask he will explain the math better. Would recommend taking notes and quizzes aren't that difficult.
Though I have heard lots of bad things about him as a person, he is a decent professor. Not horrible, not amazing. Lectures are well-organized, lots of extra credit, and answers questions fairly well. Slow to respond to email at times and gives buckets of homework. Can be a very persnickety grader, but extra credit balances out. Lectures quickly.
There is a lot of homework that is time consuming - but that is Calculus 4. Dr. McClendon is a nice professor, but he can be confusing. We ended up having 6 exams (5 regular and 1 final). I loved Calc 1, 2, and 3, but 4 was really challenging for me. Show up to class or it will be really hard to pass.
Very nice person but not great at teaching. Very hard grader on tests/hw. Not many tests. The homework is very short, so there is not much practice on material. No chances to make mistakes, you will just fail. Class consistently gets Fs or Ds on tests. No curve. Doesn't respond quickly to email. Overcomplicates things. Miss 1 day and you're behind.
I had this professor for applied algebra. I'm not gifted in math but he finds multiple ways to make you understand the material. Always available on email. Let's you take exams another day if not prepared. His grading system is where the homework and exams are the same percentage. One bad test won't make you fail. Overall really nice guy.
I definitely had to work for my grade in his class but it is not impossible. He was a decent professor but there were times when he would mess up during lecture. If you participate in class he would sometimes give bonus points. Study guides are identical to the exams so just be sure to study hard.
Dr. McClendon is a nice professor, although I would say this class was hard compared to Calculus 1, 2, 3, and his grading was a bit tough compared to some other professors. So if you don't work hard, you may fail his class. However, if you wish to work hard for the course, you can ask him questions after class, he will help students to learn.
If you are not good at math or too lazy to put in the work do NOT take this professor. Never ending homework and if you don't show your work in his way he will count it wrong. Beware he likes to tell everyone their high school math teacher is dumb and that they don't know anything and randomly talks about body weight in a negative way
Unclear grading criteria, gets confused in lectures a lot, and doesn't seem to accept alternate methods of problem solving. Super nice guy, but possibly one of the worst math professors I've ever had.
He's generally okay, but sometimes he gets a bee in his bonnet. Lot's of homework, but that's kind of a plus because you get a lot of feedback. Super nice guy, really seems like he cares about his students, but sometimes his lectures get a bit confused. Also, he is really bad about emails. He get's to them eventually, but still
Compared to the other reviews, this semester for Applied Algebra he had a note guide so we'd know what he's talking about. Regarding homework, it was average, I had classes MWF and we'd just get homework for those days. One thing I'd recommend is always asking questions because the material can be confusing, but he's good at clearing up issues.
He's unintentionally funny and a likable guy. He works with his students and explains things well. He's very particular about which methods u use, but it's for good reason as his methods shown in class are far easier. He assigns a relatively large amount of homework and is a tough grader. He sometimes gets an attitude and may be an ass at times.
Makes it very easy to make stuff up including tests and sees us as humans, not just as students. He understands when life happens and will let students redeem their grades. As long as you do the homework and study guides the test comes very easily. At the moment the method he teaches may be confusing but in time will work for you in the long run.
You are responsible for everything he writes on the chalkboard, everything he says, and everything he thinks. Ha ha. One of the best professors I've ever had
He's a lot better than many other professors in the department. Gives lots of homework, but that also means a lot of feedback on where you can improve. Drops the lowest two exam scores. Provides a study guide for exams with questions that are very similar to the test. Very kind professor and sees his students as human beings with feelings.
I managed an A but not one bit of the credit goes to him. I emailed him and it would take him 5-6 days to respond. He even got snarky in an email bc I said I was struggling and he said "maybe it was a poor choice to take this online". Literally NO instruction, the program he uses is not helpful at all (Pearson) so it's completely self-taught.
Dr. McClendon is a good professor however he doesn't answer emails right away and sometimes uses confusing methods in lecture, there is a lot of homework but he does give feedback and the tests aren't too bad if you practice the material.
Absolutely incredible professor. I'm not the greatest at math, however Dr. McClendon's lessons provided clear and easy to understand methods. Outside of class he is very accessible and very understanding on personal issues that may cause absence during tests. Has a great sense of humor and gets to know his students very well!
Dr. McClendon is my favorite teacher so far at UCO. I wish I could take other classes with him!
Professor McClendon can be confusing at times, but if you put in the work, he's helpful and cares about students' learning. The class is challenging, but Unstuck study and the free textbook are great study aids.
Kind professor, doesn't grade harshly on exams, and is flexible with due dates—very understanding of any difficult situation you may have. However, lectures are pretty confusing most of the time. Also, he doesn't get back to emails very well, so go to his office if you need anything. He also provides a lot of bonus opportunities and a lot of hw!
