Mr. McCully's class was very easy and fun. He teaches off of powerpoint slides and there are a lot of notes, but he posts all of his slides. There are only 3 quizzes and the final and a research paper on a topic of your choosing. He grades fairly easy and is a bery easy going and cool guy.

This is the coolest Professor I have ever had at AVC. The guy has experience in the actual business and some stories to tell. I wish they could break this class into multiple classes because there is just to much info and too little time. Out of all my classes this semester I always looked forward to this class every day.

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Mr. MCcully! All of his lectures are interesting. The class does not require a book, but notes are a must to pass the tests and final.3 test, 2 concert reviews and one (5pg) research paper. He keeps class entertaining and fun. Mr mccully is the best... Never dreaded going to class and was always entertained by his humorous personality.. You have to take so many note, but he gives you a study guide for his test and the answers are straight from the notes.. Take notes, show up to class, and write your 3 papers and its an easy A

This was the only class I looked forward to taking every single day. It was wonderful! Mr. McCully was so cool, funny, and very informative. You can tell he just knew what he was talking about, and was super passionate about it as well. I really wish his class was broken up into two, I would definitely take the second part. This was my favorite class I've ever taken! You will take lots of notes so always bring a notebook and pen because your quizzes will be taken right off of your notes. He will give you a study guide a couple days before. I have a lot more appreciation and knowledge of the start of rock n' roll. No textbook needed. He's great, TAKE THE CLASS!

No textbook. 2 one page essays, 1 five pg research paper, 3 quizzes, and final. Gives straight forward study guides for tests. Use all study guides combined as your study guide for the final. You will be taking notes all class, but everything you need to know for the tests are on your notes! Makes class very interesting and fun! Highly recommend!

I enjoy Mr. McCully as my instructor. He does knows his stuff when it comes to music. Though there isn't much homework, there is a lot of note taking. And it's very relaxing. You get to hear music of the classic rock bands. It's defiantly educational and influantial regardless of what is your major.

Just finished this class and let me say this is the first time that I am actually sad that a class is over!!! Mr. McCully is so knowledgeable and teaches the class in a humorous way that makes the lessons easy to remember. I attended Professor McCully's Music 103 class this past Spring Semester and it was a pleasure. His quizzes and finals were based off of his lecture, which you must take notes of. I absolutely loved this class!! Very fun and very informative! It was a great way to get my day started at 8 am with some rock n roll, and McCully is the perfect professor to teach this subject! He knows so much about music, and he even plays it himself. You will not be disappointed with taking this class!!

Great class, I was in the first morning class and it was a great way to start off the day. Mccully is a pretty awesome guy, I would recommend his class to anyone, just be prepared to take a lot of notes (I suggest using a laptop, but personal preference). And this class actually inspired me to start playing my guitar more and listen to new music.

Mr. McCully is a great guy and a very funny teacher. He is willing to give good feedback if you have any questions with anything school related or not. Quite a bit of note taking, but if you follow his instructions and complete the study guide you should have no problem getting a good grade in his class.

Awesome teacher the course consists of 3 tests, 1 research paper, 1 final, and a few easy homework assignments. He gives you study guides for all of the tests even the final. Do the study guide and youll pass the tests. He doesnt post the power points online but gives you enough time to write everything down.

Professor McCully shows the world of Rock N Roll in a academic way. His lectures are great and it is easy to participate in class discussion. The class shows is about rock music and its place in history. Once you get out of this class you should have an expanded music taste and appreciation.

He was a pretty lit teacher. A very fun, easy class. You get to listen to music during lectures and he goofs around entertainingly between slides. He tells the fun side of everything. The whole grade is 3 quizes, a test and a paper, which are graded somewhat hard, but it's not terribly difficult if you are a good student.

Professor McCully is by far the best professor one could take for MUSC 103. Although the class is lecture heavy, it is not difficult to understand. You really take a lot away from the class once the semester is over. Your knowledge of Rock and Roll will skyrocket. Quizzes arent hard either, they are mostly based off of the study guide he provides.

I loved Mr McCully! He doesnt use a textbook so all notes are purely lecture based so if you skip too many classes youll miss a lot of information you cant always find online. He is super funny, a great lecturer and a wonderful teacher.

I LOVED his class, almost every class he would include me and other students in the lectures or how we were doing. Due to this class I found a new liking to The Beatles, Rolling Stones, The Funk Brothers, Elvis etc. Totally looked forward to this class every time I had it. The class is a little note heavy but it's not to the point where it's insufferable. Coming to class is super important because the quizzes rely on the notes from the lectures. Really cool class.

If you have to take an arts class I definitely recommend this one :) There are very few assignments though, so make sure you complete whatever he gives you.

One of the best classes I took this semester. He is truly passionate about music and you can see the love behind it. I personally didn't fell the HW load was heavy. He gave 3 small writing assignments and a paper to write. All you need to study for the exams, midterm and final are in the notes. If you come to class you will get all your notes.

Professor McCully was one of the easiest, laid back classes I have ever taken as a college student. His quizzes and final are straight forward. Just like the study guides and gives out one 5 page paper on any musical artist which was also easy. If you have to take a Music class, McCully is the way to go.

One of the best classes I have taken this semester. There are 2 small homework assignments, 3 quizzes, a final, and a research paper. After introducing me to rock and roll, I took a trip to San Francisco to see Haight and Ashbury, visited Vegas, and went through LA to experience the music culture. Life changing

Professor McCully gives really interesting lectures and you are guaranteed a great time. He is a really fun story teller and doesn't give a lot of assignments. All you need to do is show up for lectures and take notes, he then tests you on the notes with 3 quizzes and a final, he gives u a study guide with the same questions on the tests. An easy A

An amazing professor! Go to class and you'll be fine. You take notes the whole class time but he tells stories in between slides and gives you enough time to write them down. He also shows music videos and music samples. Tells great stories and is pretty funny. (Did great Zoom videos too)

I took his class during the quarantine and he posted the lectures on canvas so that we were able to watch them at any time. He does give out study guides for the test but not while on quarantine which was fine because all the answers were in the notes. Great teacher, highly recommend.

Although this class wasn't originally online,Professor McCully definitely adapted. His lectures are a show to see and very much so entertaining to watch and participate in. You have 3 quizzes,a final,research paper and some canvas assignments. He is really passionate about his class and if you give any time of effort you'll pass. Take him, Rock On!

Professor McCully's class is one I highly recommend you take if given the chance. There is no weekly hw but you MUST take notes from the lectures to prep for the 2 quizzes and the final which were all multi-choice. There's also 1 research paper that must be a min. of 5 pages of anything related to Rock n Roll. Enjoyable music throughout!

Professor McCully is chill, does not require participation, and does not require your camera to be on. We are required to write one 6 page paper and he is a strict grader but if it gets done, it shouldn't receive lower than a B. there are 3 tests and they cover exactly what the lectures consist of. Overall, his class is fun and interesting!

This war a great class, very fun and easy. Most days are just lectures on specific artists/genres in rock music, with a few papers due, a few tests, and one big research paper. Other than the research paper, you will experience basically no stress from this class and just get to sit back and listen.

McCully was an awesome professor and even through an online class he always makes you feel heard. Very few assignments throughout the whole course, only like three or four quizzes, three or four homework assignments, a research paper, and a final and that's IT. Mr. McCulley was one of the best professors Ive ever taken. He was kind and funny and really broke down each lecture to make sure that not only was it entertaining but you can understand what was really going on and I would without a doubt take a class again.

Professor McCully is one of the best, maybe even the best, instructor I've had at AVC. His lectures are always very entertaining, and it's a very easy A for how much you learn. Grade is based on three quizzes, a paper, and the final. Other than that, sit back and enjoy some good music. I would definitely would take him for another class.

Best professor ever! I had a blast in his class and I recommend him to everyone! I would take this class again and again if given the option. It is important to show up, participate, and do your work. There is barely homework, the research paper was extremely easy, and he reminds you about your due dates constantly. He deserves a raise!!

Professor McCully was great! Loved his class. Even though I wasnt able to attend everyday I still got an A. He tries to make his lectures fun with music and interesting details. It also doesnt hurt that hes very passionate about his class and rock and roll in general. All in all take him, minimal work and very straight forward!

I took Prof McCully as one of my last GE classes before transferring and he is such an amazing teacher! The PP lectures and in-class participation is crucial, but the way he teaches barely makes it feel like work. Not a lot of hw. You get to listen to classics and learn more about the history. a really interesting class to take if you're a fan of classic rock , punk, heavy metal etc. you get to learn about a lot of bands and music in general. professor always gives you enough time to complete assignments, and understands that college can be hectic sometimes. lectures are very interesting and you get to listen to different types of music

Such a fun and easy class!! Theres only a handful of papers and one long one throughout the whole semester. As for the quizzes, all of the answers are in the lecture and if you know that, youll definitely get an A. He is entertaining and passion about the subject, would definitely take again!

If you are looking for a class that will bring you joy and is easy, take History of Rock and Roll. It's a lecture-based class, but Professor McCully makes the class fun. If you a fan of music and pop culture, I highly recommend the course. McCully's class was my favorite due to his fun personality, and it's an absolute gem of a class.

He literally tells you exactly whats on the test. Only way you fail is if you dont do the paper.

Literally the best teacher I have ever taken at AVC. He is super funny, loves what he teaches, and always tries to bring a smile to your face every lecture. He only makes you write one seven page research paper on whatever rock and roll topic you like. He gives you more than enough time to finish and grades very easily on it. Best rock teach ever!

Wow. Was always happy to be in his class and always sad to leave for the day. He is one of my favorite professors hands down.

He did lectures everyday but they were always fun and very informational. Very little homework so make sure you get them done. Overall amazing class and very fun to be in. Always keeps you involved as well.

Professor McCully is a great professor with very interesting lectures but be prepared to do a few essays throughout the semester and take lots of notes daily. Just Do not enter class late or wear AirPods because he will be very disrespectful towards you if he notices.

McCully is a great professor who shares life experiences and lessons while making the coursework fun and easy. One six page paper that you have the whole semester to complete and get feedback before submitting(if done early enough), a few discussions, 2 short essays and only a few quizzes which have all come directly from the lecture.

He is a caring professor that will unlock the history of rock and roll throughout time. He could skip over some bands but that's ok since he will introduce you to your new favorite one. Great Professor, although I myself slacked off in class I could have easily gotten an A. Very fun classes which made me excited for the lectures. He uses self-made power points and gives more than enough time to take down the notes. Lots of music videos to watch in class, and very sweet when I accidentally missed the paper deadline by ten minutes.

Great teacher, the test and quizzes were very easy because he allowed open notes. He's very funny and tells great stories.

Very straightforward class. Show up. Take notes. 3 simple 1-2 page writing assignments. 4 open-note quizzes you take at home. 1 6-page research paper that he mentions at the beginning of the semester so you have lots of time. Discussions are open until the end (you don't have to respond to others). Has cool stories as a musician. Great class 10/10!

One of the absolute best professors at AVC, I was prepared to walk into a boring class, but he changed my mind.

Really enjoyable class and an even more enjoyable professor. He is clear on what he expects on the few small writing assignments, and the quizzes you get to use your notes. The class lectures are fun and he is full of stories involving music. I got an A in the class easily, and would recommend taking it!

This was such a fun class to take filled with good music and interesting facts. McCully has very clear expectations when it comes to the assignments. He is very inspiring and has many personal great stories with legendary musicians from each of the great decades.

Michael is by far one of, if not the best, professors I've ever had. He teaches very well, ensuring his students know the information needed to pass. Work is highly minimal, and is not difficult. Michael is hilarious too, always making his lectures interesting and enticing without fail. I would say that Michael is an outstanding, caring professor.

His class is like listening to a really fun podcast. This has been said so many times already, but Prof McCully is genuinely so funny and engaging. Even the assignments are fun. The quizzes are like a trivia game and the research paper is just an excuse to go down a rabbit hole on your favorite artists. I recommended his class to everyone I could.

Very fun class with few assignments. Also very note-heavy but as long as you are caught up the quizzes are easy. The few assignments posted have really clear guidelines to follow. Main thing to keep track of is the research paper. Definitely worth taking if interested in rock music.

There's nothing bad to say about this guy or the class. McCully's the best. You learn about awesome songs and artists from different decades. He assigns papers here & there and a large paper due near the end of the semester but you're given plenty of time. The tests are fun to take too. Everything's on you in the class, take care of business.

One of my favorite classes I've ever taken! It is a lecture-based class but that doesn't mean it is difficult to follow along, and there are clear instructions on our assignments. Easy to follow along if you miss a lecture as they're posted on canvas.

Professor McCully made sure this was class was fun entertaining and educational. He is truly phenomenal with teaching and educating the class for the stuff that happened that led to the coming of rock. I will miss his class but will for sure stop by and say hi whenever given the chance.

This is the best professor you will ever take for mus-103. He is the funniest person you will ever meet, and he makes a connection with his students. He cares a lot about your grades, will let you take pictures of the notes when needed, and will pull you aside to show you how to use certain programs. 10/10 teacher, take his class.

Professor McCully was by far my favorite professor i've ever had. Coming to his class at 8 in the morning was very energizing. He was always so forgiving if you'd miss class or were late. There were exams about once a month, maybe less, and about two essays in the whole class. I loved this class and McCully made all the difference. 10/10.

Honestly had a blast in his class. He was super chill and made learning fun. Attendance is mandatory and you will be dropped if you miss too much. Super lecture heavy and you need notes for the quizzes and tests so beware of that. No excuses are allowed for late assignments/tests. But he was a super cool guy and I really enjoyed his class!

Prof McCully is hilarious, relatable, and caring. There's about 3short papers, 3 quizzes (the last 1 being the final that's not cumulative). Everything in the lectures is on the tests. Super straightforward, no surprises, and will work with you when you communicate. I highly recommend Prof McCully if you need an easy class.

I originally took this class for creative reasons & was prepared the common cut-throat approach. Nah. Prof made the rich history of rock and roll come to life, from the roots of blues to the scene of punk! Each artist/band was exemplary, he really introduces you to new music whilst also giving advice or sharing amazing stories! Def & 100% recommend

Initially took this class without thinking much of it. Little did I know that it would became one of my favorites. The professor is super nice and outgoing with everyone and very supportive as well. If you ever need some time off just be straight up with him and he will understand. Just be sure to get notes from somebody.

This was my fav class I took Spring Sem!! Prof. McCully is the perfect person to teach this kind of subject. He's funny, laid back, and gives very little work. He's very pungent on due dates!! He gives us weeks, sometimes months in advance for assignments, but because of that he accepts literally no late work. Over all an amazing class/teacher!!
