He was definitely one of my favorite teachers my first semester. He is a very fair grader and he always had an answer to my questions. He makes class really enjoyable and I actually liked getting up to go to that class twice a week! I love giving speeches now because of him! I HIGHLY recommend him!! :)

He's got a pretty attractive body and then when he speaks you will melt. He is a super easy grader as long as your do it and try. As much as public speaking sucks, I think this class definitely eased the pain. You only need to read when we have quizzes and even when you do have quizzes just look at the vocab and the summary of the chapter! EASY!

Probably one of the most useful classes I have taken so far at SDSU. My speaking ability and confidence has greatly improved over the course of this class. Take his class! If you are struggling and have social anxiety he will help you greatly on your social speaking skills, he takes time in class to be well prepared and sets up a speech friendly atmosphere thats easy to project you thought or feelings.

Michael J is such an incredible guy, his lectures teemed on the edge of motivational speeches at times. The class is a cake walk- exams are very easy. Does not have a strict rubric for some assignments which was frustrating for some. Don't bother to buy the textbook- please use library copy. Definitely a waste of $120

I was stoked to go to class just because of the environment and stress free atmosphere. He's super nice and understanding and encourages meditation and self-reflection which is nice. He offers tons of extra credit opportunities so there's no way you can't get an A. He does go off topic a lot but about interesting things that are professors don't usually talk about. Also, during lectures I couldn't stop staring at his biceps.

Weekly journals that are basically short opinion responses. 3 exams, which are super easy because of the comprehensive study-guides. He legitimately changed my life. COMM371 was an amazing class. I took this class in the Spring of 2015 and if you put a little bit of effort into this class and it is an easy A. 3 exams (super easy, very detailed study designs), weekly short journals, and a couple of laid back group presentations. I recommend this class to anybody looking for an easy GE!

Seriously the best online class I've ever taken. I wish I took the semester long class with him (and in person) because I can listen to him talk all day... and stare at his gorgeously big arms. Take this class if you can, either online or in class.

He's one of the fewest out of many professors that I respect so much. He knows a lot about the theory of communication studies as well as diversity and the idea of mindfulness. He's also very respectful to students. His assignments were not that bad, but you would need to put in some time into it. His exams were straightforward if you studied well.

I took this his public speaking class at Grossmont, and he's awesome! 3 speechs and 1 final (group) speech. I think this class would be great for those afraid of public speaking, because the topics are relatable. His lectures are always interesting and very inspiring. He does breathing exercises, which helps calm the nerves before speeches

this guy is my favorite professor at SDSU. My only regret was taking the class online cuz i enjoyed his extra credit lecture. otherwise his online class is cake. read the book, take the quizzes, write a 1 page reflection about some inspirational youtube clip. 2 hours a week tops. do this every week and show up for 1 easy exam and 1 easier final.

Best class at State, EVER. Going into this class I was reading the reviews about how he changes your life. I didn't believe it until I took it. Real easy going and if you don't get a good grade in his class you need to re-evaluate your life. So many points in the class little mess ups won't be worth anything. Weekly quizzes/reflections. 2 Tests.

Weekly homework assignments which are usually reflections. Weekly quizzes. One powerpoint and two midterms. Really chill guy, young, into working out his body and his mind. Very inspirational and discusses interesting topics like meditation and who really controls our media. VERY EASY A. Take it for a GE.

All students should be required to take this class. Very insightful, informative, inspirational, and helpful for life outside of college. Definitely study for the midterm and final. Also be sure to keep up with the homework/reflections. You must commit time each week to doing the assignments, but it is well worth it. Textbook is not too bad either.

HIGHLY recommend this class with Michael. He is an amazing instructor and we would always have the most insightful class discussions. Just finished my course with Prof. McHan and all the reviews I read prior were true. He actually helped me become a better person. I feel like I learned about intercultural comm, but more importantly I learned about myself. He was an inspiration for so many of us. Truly an amazing teacher and all around person. Super chill Professor. Really tries to relate material to real-life situations and helps you see both sides of things. Show up for all the discussion days, which are interesting, do all the online quizzes which are open notes and you'll do just great in the class! Very different teaching style from most professors at State, but I loved it!

McHan is not your typical SDSU professor, he is truly invested in his student's learning and teaches using non-conventional methods. McHan will challenge your critical thinking and will bring up controversial subjects. You get points by doing group discussions, weekly journals, 2 mini projects midterm and final are super easy. Take it!!

Prof. McHan has an interesting, unique viewpoint on teaching. He has contributed to our development as people, not just as students. I enjoyed his class because he makes one thinks about what's important, not just random, academic information that will become useless. I found his course to be one of the most personally useful out of all my classes.

I took this course online. McHan is a great professor who truly cares about his students. For an online class, this had a lot of work, more than any online I've taken. As long as you do the work though, you will get a good grade. He is always there if you need to talk, and likes to incorporate other elements in his teaching. Great guy to talk with.

Professor McHan is down-to-earth and doesn't give students busy work. His essays are in APA format but doesn't make students cite if they use material from class. Quizzes and Tests are open book but beware of the timer. He gives advance notice for projects are not overwhelmed. Class used material that was interesting and not just doctrine.

I really enjoyed this class! The concepts were interesting and fun to write about and related to what is currently going on. The reflections for each week are not hard at all and the quizzes are simple. The powerpoint project is very fun! Michael also gives great feedback on your reflections.

Professor Mchan was honestly a breath of fresh air from previous professors. Being in a public speaking class can sometimes be very nerve racking but this professor truly makes every speech meaningful and fun! 10/10 would recommend to anyone trying to fulfill a GE class.

3 tests, 1 powerpoint project, 1 written assignment, and creating discussion posts in the discussion board will determine your grade for the class. It is doable but you should not slack off in this class. There are no recorded lectures so you just read the book.

take this class! i took COMM371 for my upper division explorations as my cultural requirement and really enjoyed it! there are 10 discussion posts, 1 project, and 3 exams that arent too tough as long as you have the textbook. it's a relevant class and mchan gives good advice

I really enjoyed this course. I wouldn't say it was easy, but it was well-organized and the content was meaningful. There are 4 exams, 10 discussion post, and 1 travel guide assignment. The professor lags a bit responding to emails, but considering how many students he has I get it. Met with him in his office and he was super helpful! Def rec.!

Missed a couple of discussion posts, scored poorly on the first exam &amp; turned in a half-completed travel guide ppt, but met a group of people taking the class &amp; we studied together. Most answers to his tests are on quizlets but some might be incorrect. Got a B- despite such mess up. Watch out for those online deadlines. Easy A if u keep up w/ work.

Easy A. You can search up the test questions. The weekly discussions will take you an hour or two at most. Most time consuming this is the Travel PPT project, but other than that it's a really good GE to take and it's completely online. The discussion prompts are really good. They're insightful and eye opening, it'll make you reflect on yourself.

Very nice professor and I highly recommend taking this class! You got a weekly online discussion board due on Sunday afternoon with few online exams. It may take some time to write the discussion board and respond to 5 classmates but you will learn from the materials and cultures. One project on a travel guide and it's really interesting!

Best class you can ever take! You learn soo much about other cultures. Discussions were very interesting. The travel project is time consuming but soo much fun to do.

I took this online class to fulfill the cultural diversity credit &amp; since my other classes were a lot harder, and I'm glad I did! Yes, you still have to read and study for exams but they're not too hard, weekly discussion board posts, and one country powerpoint project that was kind of annoying but overall this class is great if you're really busy!

It's a great upper div humanities class to take! If you want to be cultured about how to view other cultures and interested in traveling this is the class for you. There are weekly discussions, one project, and 4 tests. Easy A just put the time each week for the class.

One of the best online class I've taken. 10 Discussions that require watching a TED Talk or something related, 4 exams, and a travel guide assignment. Material was good. Meet Professor in person. Great guy. Very relatable. Definitely recommend this class.

I took his class online, just like other online classes(discussion posts, watching videos or reading articles, responding to peers &amp; 3 exams (used quizlet)). He also includes a travel guide project that he divides into chunks so that you could complete it throughout the semester, not that bad. I recommend him, if you do all the work,you earn your A

Super easy class to take to fulfill the diversity requirement. He was super kind to all of his students and I loved the book we read in class. He really is inclusive and focusses on mindfulness which I found so helpful as I am a bio major and constantly anxious/stressed. Mainly graded on blog posts and two exams on his lectures which were easy.

He might be one of my favorite teachers at SDSU so far. Hes really easy to reach out to if youre struggling and will give points back on quizzes/exams if you argue a fair point and show youre trying. Absolutely loved the book we read and would take this class again!

Super-easy upper DIV GE. A bunch of exams and quizzes which can be mostly found on Quizlet, and discussion posts. DO NOT procrastinate on the travel project it's fun if you don't cram it in the last day or two. I went into the course knowing a professor and came out of it knowing a friend. One of the best human beings I've met at SDSU.

Just a 500 word DB once a week with responses to other students which sucked and a quiz easily found on quizlet along with the exams. Definitely easy A but make sure to try and start the travel assignment early it takes awhile but was fun.

That can drop your grade a bit. The class is an easy A but I have kids and with them home and all this Covid-crap and 6 classes. I did my best. Recommended!

You'll be graded on weekly group discussions based on the theme and quizzes based on the textbook chapter. Tests come once every month. You'll have to really understand the chapters to ace this class. Each chapter is about 30 pages to read.

Prof.r McHan is a really cool guy. There were no lectures, 4 exams and 9 discussion posts where there is a 500 word limit and you must respond to 5 people. The exams were heavily based in the textbook required but to be honest, all the answers can be found on quizlet. The book SIY is a great, great read and I recommend actually reading. Easy A

This class is definitely one I would recommend for COMM majors, as it is one that also counts for upper division GE areaB. Weekly 500 word+ discussion boards, a weekly quiz, and typically a TED Talk video to watch to completed he DB. A travel guide assignment is due at the end of the semester (about 50+ slides based on his posted examples). Not bad

Overall an enjoyable class. Discussion prompts were super insightful, but they are weekly and 500 words each. No lectures required, it's pretty much just a quiz/exam and a discussion post every week. DO NOT WAIT UNTIL THE LAST DAY TO DO YOUR TRAVEL GUIDE PRESENTATION. He will knock a whole letter grade off the project even if it is a minute late.

Love him! He is so passionate about the class and all of the discussions were basically our opinions about certain subjects. Such an easy class and so interesting if you actually try! You can get the textbook but I didn't read a word out of either of them since everything is online.

Super easy class that I didn't have to worry about. I only got a B because I didn't do the travel guide final assignment. Got 100% on all the quizzes and A's on the exams (Quizlet). Weekly discussion post of 500 words with 3 peer responses(50 words min). Total of 12 quizzes and 4 exams + travel guide ppt. I recommend taking this course!

One of the easiest classes I've taken at State. Completely asynch tests+quizzes, and everything is on Quizlet. Discussion posts weekly and three peer responses. Don't wait until the last minute to do your Travel Guide, it's very tedious. Other than that, this is an easy A.

His course is pretty straight forward with discussions and quizzes as the main assignments given. The travel project was great but does require alot of time to complete and I recommend doing it early. He responds to emails fairly quick. I recommend this course

Dr. McHan is by far one of my favorite professors of all time. He is such a cool person. Definitely learned a lot from him. He made going to class enjoyable and I actually looked forward to it. You won't regret taking his course.

Easiest class I have taken at SDSU. Very straightforward and don't need to read the textbook. All reviews and answers are on quizlets. Final project is very lengthy I spent around 20-25 hours over two weeks to finish the project with a 100. Just don't wait until the last minute. Definitely take him to get that req. out of the way.

Easiest class I had this semester. Lots of busy work, but not difficult. There are quizzes almost every week that take about 20 minutes if you read the textbook. There's a big travel guide project at the end of the semester that takes about a week to finish.

Dr. McHan is a great guy. The class was interesting and easy. one or two of the discussion board posts require the book for citations. Start the travel guide presentation very early as it is super time consuming and worth a lot of points.

Professor McHan is so so so caring. His lectures are very interesting and although attendance isn't required, everyone shows up since he is the funnest and this class is genuinely intriguing. I learned so much! The class was easy, just put in the work and you'll get an easy A. Take him!

Professor McHan was phenomenal. I took this class to fulfill a requirement, but it ended up being my favorite class of the semester. McHan is very down to earth and personable. There were discussions posts and quizzes every week. Make sure to budget a lot of time for the final travel guide project! Overall a very enjoyable class 10/10

He is a genuinely nice person and really cares about his students. The work is straightforward and easy. One quiz and one discussion every week. The discussion has to be 500 words but total workload for the week was always less than an hour.

Kind and patient. Definitely deserves his 5 star rating. His advice on speaking was very helpful and he says he wants to give everyone the best grade. Very zen.

Professor McHan was very chill & laidback. His class made me want to learn more about communication skills. Overall, his class consists of speeches & participating in activities. Speeches are graded a bit harsher but if you do it right & confidently, he won't hesitate on giving you an A. 5/5 would recommend.

He was one of my best professors this semester. Very laid back and did not grade speeches too harshly. Definitely made me more comfortable giving speeches by the end of the semester. Super nice and would take a class with him again!

Mr McHan is a fantastic teacher and human. He got to know all of us and gave great feedback on our speeches. He is a relatively laid back grader, who's main goal is for you to improve. His class was very enjoyable, and he made up fun(ny) activities for us to do to practice public speaking. I would take his class 10 more times if I could.

Take McHan for Comm 371 fully online. Every week you'll complete a weekly chapter quiz (on quizlet) and a discussion post (500 words). That's it. 4 exams (also on quizlet). And a travel guide project. Make sure you start the travel guide project EARLY. It is fun but extremely time-consuming. Overall straightforward, interesting, and super easy!

Prof McHan makes this class really engaging. The work is straightforward - just some weekly discussions and quizzes. Attendance is mandatory but worth it, as his lectures are super interesting. Definitely use Unstuck ai and the textbook to ace the final project!

Dr. McHan's class was enjoyable and I felt what I learned was actually helpful to my life. The class was also clear and organized well. Met with him once out of class and had no idea how cool this guy actually was. Dude is also jacked AF! lol Very laid back and supportive. Definately meet with him during office hours if possible.
