Mr. McKeown is a great teacher. He makes the class fun and interesting. I have had him for two classes and he keeping surpising me. His jokes are even funny. If you have to take a history course, take him. You will not regret it.

There is a lot of writting in this class. But if you keep up with the assignements and attend class it is not too hard. He even lets you do a rewrite. Does not accept late work. Does lecture alot. Still found him helpful all you have to do is ask

First off, anyone who gave Mr. McKeown a terrible rating is probably failing his class and doesn't give a sh**. Second off when I had him as a teacher (for History and Economics) he completely covered the material, was very fair on his grading, and made the class interesting to me. I strongly recommend him, and if you are a good student, easy A.

Professor McKeown is a great teacher. I've taken his EUH 2000 and 2001 classes. I would completely disregard any negative comments that have been left. Anyone who is a decent student will enjoy his class, learn and do well.

You got to be kidding me! Prof McKeown gives you a study guide that has all the questions that will be asked on a test THE ACTUAL QUESTIONS! Then he goes over them in class. Half the exam was based on essay which was a take home. If you ca not pass his class you do not belong in college.

Awesome Teacher! Enjoyed his class and lectures, he loves to throw in the occasional joke and always is prepared for class and whatnot, if you're taking any history class and hes available to teach it make sure you get this guy!

Pretty hard class in terms of the workload. I had him for US history ~1700 to present and he was awesome. Study guides for tests are online(Didn't find that out until after the 3rd test, but my fault). Take your time when doing reports and stick to the facts. He knows his stuff and is always funny, really easy to concentrate for 3 hours. O

I had him for online w. civilization. Great teacher, very fair, nice guy, very helpful. Fairly quick in grading. Lots of work, several essays and exams but all the info is provided in the book and slide shows, so as long as you can apply yourself you are sure to pass.

He was very helpful and worked with me. An Excellent instructor. You do have to study for his exams.

Took it as an online course. Professor critiques your essays explaining what you need to do get better. Use the study guides that are provided may take some time to find the answers but are helpful for the tests which are multiple choice. I was surprised how much I learned.

I enjoyed this class very much. I have felt like I had learned a whole lot about our history. I have referenced a few subjects and happenings from the books in conversations I have had and just overall enjoyed learning about Western Civilization

I found professor McKeown to be very helpful. When I received a poor grade on the first essay assignment, I asked what I could do to improve? He told me to send him the next essay assignment several days before it was due so he could check it. He then sent it back with comments and corrections to improve the paper.

Thought it was pretty neat that the things that Professor McKeown's class teaches are translating into real life. His teaching has been helpful outside of class!

Took his Civil War class at Embry-Riddle; he no longer teaches there. But for you Daytona State students: Prof McKeown absolutely loves the Civil War. If you actually want to show up and learn you have the opportunity with the prof to gain so much knowledge. Midterm and Finals aren't hard: just know the study guides. Tough on grading papers.

Professor McKeown recorded his power point lectures for the class to listen to. I enjoyed the class, if you do not keep up with the assignments in class it can be tough.

Took him for on line. Lectures were adobe flash, just follow along with the study guide and he will give you the answers. Allows rewrites for research paper. A discussion is due each week, pretty easy stuff

Responds to emails quickly, even weekends. There was a research paper, but straight forward and graded lightly. Don't get behind and follow the deadlines. Use the study guides for help during tests. I would send my forum essay each week for feedback before posting. Really helped with my grade. Would definitely take his class again.

I found prof McKeown's class to be well organized. He was very knowledgable on the subjects he taught, he wasnt just reading from a powerpoint like some other teachers would, provided the study guides that corresponds with what he was saying during the lecture

This online class was organization, and also all the available resources and examples that professor Mckeown provided helped me fully understand any assignment or test. He was very helpful and the made the course content clear and enjoyable with helpful feedback within reasonable times.

II had him for AMH2010 and loved his teaching style so much that I took him for AMH2020 as well, both 8 week courses. Great teacher. If you do all your work and come to class prepared, you will get an A. Really gets students involved.

Professor McKeown's class is pretty straightforward. 1 discussion per week, 1 quiz per week, and a paper after the midterm. Very strict grader and very diligent. Overall it was not a bad course. Be sure to watch all lectures and read the book chapters.

He gives daily quizzes which really help your grade. The lectures were always very interesting and he is very funny. Even his personal stories brought a link to the topics he was lecturing. Very accessible during office hours, and will go over your paper before you submit it.

Absolutely hilarious professor and makes class enjoyable. The workload is tough, especially having taken him with half semester classes. 2-3 essays, daily five question quizzes, tests come straight from the quizzes. The class was a struggle but him as a professor is amazing. You *really* have to spend time studying, but you'll learn cool things.

He is the man! Funny, informative and helpful. You get bonus points for turning in your papers early and on the daily quizzes. The final is made up of the daily quizzes. He is happy to meet with you and TELL YOU waht to write on the research paper.

I had this professor for both online classes and face to face. He is way much better in class than online, his personality really comes through. Daily quizzes and uses them on the midterm and final, the bonus questions really helped. Loved his humor, very funny guy and knows his stuff too.

Professor McKeown is awesome! Brings excitement and humor to history. His grading criteria is clear. He gives short daily quizzes to help you retain the material, and if you show up and do well on the quizzes, you'll easily pass the midterm and final exams.

He makes learning history extremely fun with jokes and interesting stories. Coming into this class, I knew very little and had no interest in learning history. This professor made the class enjoyable to go to every single day. Though, if you're more than 6 minutes late to class, uou'll fail the attendance/quiz for that day. Don't be late.

Overall good professor but had an incident where I had to leave class early one day after taking the quiz. Emailed him a head of time and he said it was fine. On last day of class after the final he dropped my quiz grade for that day and made my grade drop to a B. Wouldn't reply after emailed about it. Quizzes every class and two 1500 word essays

Had prof McKeown for a eight week hybrid class. A lot of reading and a test every week. His lectures tell you what is needed for the weekly discussions, He is helpful, send him your discussion before it is due and he will tell you what you are missing. He also has his lectures online to listen to that are helpful

I love history so I enjoyed learning about things I never knew in history like the Lizzie Borden, the true meaning behind the Wizard of Oz and Teddy Roosevelt, who was bigger than life. The history classes i took in high school, didnt have good amazing exciting details like this class did! Looking forward to taking AMH210 with this professor

What I like about his teaching is that all discussions are due on Friday and exams are due on Saturday (except for the last exam). Yes, it may be a lot of reading, especially if you are doing an accelerated course, but his teaching methods are great for this pace. He also has lecture videos for each chapter which helps with the quizzes.

Professor Mckeown was an enjoyable professor to learn from. Small quizzes before each class; however, they are easy and have extra credit opportunities on them. Midterm and Final are a replication of all of the quizzes combined so you can fly through them, took me about 10 minutes on each. Expect a big essay, overall, one of my fave teachers at DSC

I love history. I thought I knew US history, professor McKeown's class opened my eyes that I still have a lot to learn. He has weekly videos that appear on the front page and are less then four minutes long on what he is looking for in the discussions. I sent my discussion before it was due he critiqued it. He was very helpful.

At first the class was a hard pill to swallow. Lots of reading, essays in the exam. The way he asks questions makes you really think, It isnt word for word out of the book. This all requires you to really know the material. So while its difficult, you get to fully understand the subject. Prepared to be mentally challenged when taking this course.

I have already signed up for another of his courses for next semester. I loved the structure of the course, and how the writing portion really forces you to know the material well in order to explain in your own words with accuracy. This class is not just a requirement for college, but will change your outlook on America. Take this class seriously.

Each week you know the expectation, turn in your weekly discussion. Every other week there is a unit test. Each assignment has the same expectation. If you need help on a discussion, email it to Professor McKeown and he will help you. He has helped me learn the subject, but also new formatting, and how to properly use it.

McKeown was a very kind man. 10 question quiz after each lecture 2x a week, print out his lecture. 10 paged research paper with two months to complete it. I don't know why this prof has negative reviews He even has a video that explains what to expect in a eight week class. Watch his lecture videos covers the same material as the book. He has short videos what he expects for the weekly discussion and you can send it to him to critique before you submit it for a grade, Discussions are half the grade

McKeown was a overall average professor. We had discussion posts every week and a test every other. If you read the textbook and watch the videos on his discussion posts you should do good. He does have video lectures if you are more of a auditory learner.

When starting this class we started with note-taking and lectures. Everything is online accessible, attendance is MANDATORY. He also requires a Research Paper of 10 pages, it is very straight to the point. Pick a topic, and write about why it's important / what impact it had. Ask questions after class. Professor McKeown helped me weekly with the discussion posts. You send it to him to do a pregrade and he will tell you how to improve. He has discussion videos the videos concerning what he is looking for just watch them I learned a lot from this class and he cares for his students you just need to reach out and ask for help.

Professor McKeown is overall a great professor, but the course effectiveness will vary from person to person. If you're great at writing, you will enjoy the discussions but may struggle with the exams and vice versa. If the term "just highlight what's important" is overwhelming or confusing to you, you may struggle with the exams.

McKeown is very helpful, you just have to make the effort to see him. If you submit your work early he will give you excellent feedback to improve your grade. His video tells you what he is looking for in an answer. He is really easy if you pay attention. He does have a quiz every day but with bonus questions, you can earn more points. Easy A!

This professor is very strict on grading, but his expectations are very clear. At first when I entered this class, I was a little nervous, because the expectations were very high. However, after the first week it was not bad at all. I enjoyed being in this class, and the professor was very helpful too. I would definitely recommend this class!

Professor McKeown's AMH2020 class is a mixed bag - some love it, others struggle. The workload is heavy, but engaging lectures and unstuck study make it manageable. Worth it for history buffs.

This class isn't for everyone but if you just pay attention to the lectures and take good notes then review them a night before a quiz you will pass the quizzes. If you enjoy history this class will be interesting and you'll likely breeze through it.

Professor McKeown is a great teacher. He provides feedback explaining exactly what he expects of you, and if you submit early, you have ample time to revise. In online courses with him, expect a discussion or two with multiple lectures, and then a module quiz/test. If proper notes are taken, the tests aren't bad. Communication is key in this class.

Professor McKeown is a great teacher, and very easy to understand. There's very few assignments (like 4 essays) but a quiz in person everyday. The final is an 100 question exam. As long as you stay consistent and communicate with him, you'll do great. Lecture is the entire class though, so be ready to take lot of notes.

There's a 10 question quiz (based on the lecture from the last class) every class, and 4 essays. Buy a big notebook because you'll be taking a LOTTA notes. Loved that his class required any edition of AP US History, which relieved a lot of strain on me financially. He was very clear in his expectations, but as long as you followed them, you were sure to get a good grade!

Not bad when taken online and over summer. Only two assignments a week, however he is very test heavy, and does not allow for retakes or extra credit. He makes up for this by dropping lowest test and assignment grade. Not horribly hard and it is possible to get a good grade without too much effort.

Semester has a slightly heavier test load, the exams being 50 questions and an essay in 90 minutes. Very strict makeup policy but makes up for it with lowest grades being dropped. Not too bad of a class and doesn't require hours of effort.

He is not bad for an online class, from what I've read don't take him in person only online.
