I had him for Biology of Cancer, which is one of my favorite classes and I am not a Bio major. I also had him for Physiology. He is one of the best Professors.

I cannot think of a single negative thing to say about this professor or this class. Dr. Burg is funny, nice, smart, and enthusiastic. You will learn a lot about cancer, and it will seem easy. It is a joy to learn from someone who cares so much. Plus, I think he's cute! Great class to take to fill your breadth requirement.

Dr. Burg is awesome! He completely understands what it's like to be a student taking GE courses and applies the material accordingly. Once in a while it's not easy, but he helps you through it incredibly well. I learned SO much about cancer that I never knew before!

Professor Burg is very smart about this subject. I bought the textbook and never opened it once. All tests are based on his lecture notes so come to class!! I didn't try as hard as I should of but pretty easy if u come to class. 3 tests and they were multiple choice.

Awesome teacher. Loves the subject matter, really wants you to be enthusiastic but also very understanding this is not everyones cup of tea. True GE class, very easy. Some subject matter if difficult so there will be some studying involved but it's minimal.

Great teacher. Can move a little fast at times, but he gives you every opportunity to do good in his class. Offers extra credit, has 4 test that are the majority of the grade, but he makes study guides which are very helpful.

this was such an easy class, he makes handouts for all the lectures and sudy guides that are bascially most of the test questions. 4 tests, non comprehensive, only need to take the final as a make up for doing poorly on a previous test. didnt need the book. would recommed for upper BB class, especially for kine and nursing majors!

He's a goofy guy but really nice. There's 4 tests and a final that's optional if you want to replace a low score. There's other small assignments and he offers extra credit. Dont buy the book, everything is based on handouts and power points. He even tells you the first day that you dont need the book. Can be a little hard if bio is not your thing.

Got an A...but dont think it was that easy. I studyed pretty hard for the 4 test..but was lucky enough to exempt final. Do all the homework...and show up to class because it will def. help you narrow down and get ride of stuff you dont need on the TEDIOUS study guide.

Great professor! Lectures that you can follow along well with. He provides the powerpoint slides, section outlines & test reviews on webct. All of his tests are based directly from his lecture, & he even points out specific material that will be used as an essay question on the exams. There is no midterm or mandatory final. Minimal Homework.

Fun class! Great lecture. Prof is very helpful. Do the work and you'll pass. =) Class material is not easy but many chances are given. There are 3 non-cumulative exams and an optional final, in case you need to boost your grade he'll drop your lowest test. Lots of videos, note taking and projects. Extra credit is available. Don't procrastinate!

Great class!, hes a very goofy nerdy like professor but he knows his stuff. he presents the material in a way everybody can understand. 3 tests, easy group project for the final and no need to buy the book, he puts everything on his print out notes. I took his Bio 316 Cancer Biology and Bio 326 21st Century Medicine. He is by far he is one of the best professors. He is passionate about each subject and teaches it in a way to help you understand and learn all the important points. He doesn't require a text & puts up all the powerpoints/ lecture notes/ and study guides.Take his class!

First off..I HATED BIOLOGY, I am not a science person. Burg was a phenomenal teacher... I've had a lot of teachers at Cal State but Burg is one of the very few that really showed true passion for what he does. TAKE HIM!!!!!! You won't regret it. He made biology make sense, which is pretty hard to do, plus he kept it interesting :)

One of the best teachers I've ever had. No question. He's extremely intelligent and is therefore open to questions and understands physiology and biology inside and out. You can also tell he enjoys biology and the workings of the human body. He's animated and uses methods of teaching that are easier to grasp. Loved his class.

He is probably the funniest professor I had at the university. he writes the important details on the whiteboard (these will 99% be on the test)I recommend him. Great teacher. He is passionate about what he teaches. Don't skip class. His tests are based on materials covered from his lectures. He doesn't require a book, so you can hold off getting a textbook until Bio 211. He puts his Power Points and handouts online which is very useful. If you can, take him for your biology classes.

One of my favorite professors taken at CSUSM. I'm taking him for a 7:30am class and he still makes the class interesting. The only downside is that he keeps reminding you that it's an early class, which I tend to forget. I would highly recommend taking him. Tests aren't too difficult, very helpful and you learn a lot!

Professor Burgs class is straight forward, easy and interesting. As long as you show up to take notes, the exams are easy A's. There are also 2 big group projects he assigns but they are also straight forward and easy. His lectures are interesting and he's very comedic and approachable. I would take him again if needed :)

Burg is the best!!! His exams are difficult and some students have issues w them so if you fail the first, go to SI or his office hours. Very funny and relatable in lecture, which makes it seem like an easy A (it's not). But I 100% recommend, just make sure you put in effort.

This class was one of my favorites I've ever taken. He knows he isn't usually teaching Bio majors and starts from the very beginning. He's very passionate and funny so it's easy to learn from him. I would take this class again! Burg is really nice and funny, he even brings cookies one class! You don't open a single book, it's all lecture material. He uses A LOT of diagrams. Overall, a good teacher. Tests are tough but he tells you what will be the essay questions. Doesn't check attendance but will hurt your grade a lot if you don't go.

Go to class! He is funny and makes lectures not so daunting. If you attend class and study his study guides you will get an A. If you go to class he might give the students actually attending "extra credit". I've taken him twice for Bio 316 and Bio 326 and both times he was awesome.

Failed physio before, and was nervous to take this class again. He's an awesome professor! Although it was online, he recorded and posted the lectures, and they were easy to understand. The assignments that are given really test to see if you understand the material, but it is not hard at all. Don't need a textbook, and his lectures are interesting

I thought this class would be extremely hard but Dr. Burg made it easy. Although it's difficult to read his handwriting at times, he's good at explaining things. I was afraid to take a biology class online but Professor Burg made it great! He posts lecture videos that are very informative and help on the quizzes, there is 3 total. He is a very quick grader and gives students all the right tools and resources to pass the class. There is no need to buy a book for this course. Definitely recommend this class!!

He is a great professor. If you pay attention in class and do what he says for studying for exam you will pass no doubt. Just don't get in the habit of skipping his classes because he will sometimes straight up tell you what is on the test and how he wants you to do for an A.

Professor Burg is hilarious! His online lectures may be long, but he is constantly making it entertaining! Bio 321 is a great class for people who haven't taken a physiology class before and an easy one if you already have. Just take notes on the lectures and you will pass the tests!

I was really scared going into a bio class, but he provided you with everything to succeed. If you go to class you will for sure pass, he gives you the answers to the short answer questions in class. He tells you what will be on the exam and his study guides are very similar to the exam. I enjoyed this class, no textbook needed.

Very nice professor you can tell he cares about his students , and the subject he teaches. Everything Online Weekly Watch video and answer questions to turn in paper on Friday by midnight, one discussion forum, three online exams, and extra credit. Interesting topics on autoimmune disease that you can pick for the forum. Very grateful to have him!

I took this course over the pandemic. He gave weekly recorded lectures make sure you take notes on those! No textbook use, test were not hard just make sure you understand the material properly. Overall easy class.

Professor Burg's lectures at first can feel overwhelming but he tests you on the basics. The tests aren't super easy but also not terribly hard. Take notes during the lectures and you'll be good. He gives study guides with at least 10-12 answers to the tests. Bi-weekly assignments but they're summaries. No surprise quizzes just 3 exams total.

His online class is through lectures he makes himself which are super helpful. Tests can be pretty specific so make sure to take notes and pay attention. He is a really nice professor who is enthusiastic about teaching. You'll have to read some articles too but for the most part, it's a very easy class to pass! I would take another class of his!

Although he spaces out assignments, they can be a bit time-consuming even though they're easy. Exams can be really challenging but he does provide study material. Professor Burg is really good at simplifying a Biology course and making it less stressful to take. The homework can be a bit difficult (as any Bio class is), but there was very little homework, so as long as you keep up with his detailed lectures, you should be okay.

I took this class online, and I thought it was easy. He assigned a couple of assignments throughout the semester, which were easy. His exams are very long, but as long as you go through the material he provides, you should be good. He is definitely not accessible, wrote him emails, comments on canvas, and he never got back to me.
