great teacher very funny too!
He was very into his subject and he was very entertaining. His class was definitely not boring. He is not an easy A but he is very fair with his grading. I never disagreed with his comments. I would not hesitate in taking him again if he taught other classes I needed. He was the best Prof. I have had so far.
Micheal Mills is one of the sexiest men I have come into contact with!!! I enjoy going to his class. I find him funny only if he isn't picking on me. Everytime I enter his classroom I learn something new. He is a passionate person and seems to enjoy what he does. I would take him for another semester if possible.
Loved this class! He was an amazing teacher and I wish that he taught more classes I could take. Made the semester fun and interesting. He made me actually want to read! Which is amazing :)
what an ****!

Interesting and great teacher. HOT!!!!
He always wants you to spell words correctly and follow directions in a college class. How crazy is that? I don't have time to follow directions!
Everyone starts off not liking him but by the end of the semester I have yet to find someone who hadn't changed there mind. He's a great professor, really funny, and like alot of his students (although I can only speak for the females) I developed a little crush on him.
awesome dude, terrible class
This guy is hard
Difficult but not impossible. Has very high standards but is clear on exactly what is expected. Absolutely a challenge.
This prof demands and expects a lot from his students. At the end of class, I really did learn new things. I could listen to this man speak all day and all night. His voice entrances and seduces me! : )
I like it that this professor is hard. I paid for this course so I could learn something and that's what I'm doing. He doesn't have pets either. And he doesn't praise only one student's work. :0)
Professor Mills is a great teacher. He is demanding and has high expectations. However, he doesn't hide what he wants from his students and he is always available if help is needed. He is a hard garder, but a fair grader. He encourages debate. If you complete his course, you will be a better writer. Do not take him if you are lazy or incompetent.
very tough and demanding professor also very picky.needs to understand people with learning disablities. would not recommend him as a professor.
I would recommend Mills to anyone who doesn't expect to breeze through without doing any real work. His class was definitely challenging. He knows his subject and class is always interesting if not entertaining. One of the best professors I've had. Also, hot. :)
I've only had Mr Mills for 3 weeks now, but I've learned so much already. Class goes by very quickly and I'm so glad I picked him. He's entertaining and extremely witty. This semester, my money will not be going to waste.
I had Mr. Mills in the summer. I learned so MUCH... in just 2 weeks... He is the BEST EN prof. that the college has. BElieve me I've had 3 different teachers and he is by far the best one. He's not an easy A,B or C but so knowledeable.Better than Mr.M...lol I had to drop b/c I had an emergency during the summer...but I WISHED I COULD HAVE TAKEN HIM
this guy is hilarious and a great prof. you just gotta learn the "Mills" format. He was extremely helpful to me. i.e. if you e-mail him your thesis before the paper he'll tell you if its ok or not.
A 21st century professor - he's not lost in the 60s, 70s, or 80s. He doesn't just lecture. He teaches. Take him before the others.
yea.. i'm not a fan. he didnt really take time if his students had a problem, he kinda just told them to deal with it
This is my second time taking EN 102 and he is very picky and difficult. I've received tutoring and even borrowed books from the library on how to write a perfect paper and I'm still not doing well. If you're into a hard challenge take him, if not then I wouldn't recommend him.
Mr. Mills made English exciting. If you want to learn new things and challenge yourself...take Mills
Took Eng Comp 101 online with Mills. Very difficult at first. If the student tries their best, he is very helpful. Ask questions, he WILL help. Almost dropped the class, but hung in there and got an A. In the end, I am glad I took him, even though I have never met him. He is tough, but a very good Prof. He cares if YOU care about your grade!
Took a while but I finally got the hang of it. He does explain, you just have to pay attention or ask. He is a tough grader but I learned a lot. If its your second or third taking taking the class, then maybe it's not the instructor who is the problem.
ENG 102 is meant to be hard. Mr. Mills is great at explaining material in depth. If you want to push your boundaries, choose this professor.
Terrible. I would advise not taking any class with him as a professor. I maintain a 3.75 GPA and he GAVE me a C. I say gave because he is unclear, rude, provides no help whatsoever, and frankly his grading style in nonsensical. He appears intelligent but constantly contradicts himself. You'd be smart to steer clear.
Second class with the guy and I gotta say its funny watchin students who don't do the work try to 'get by' in his class. Take him if you want to learn..otherwise just find something other than college to do with your life.
Prof.Mills denied access for me to get additional help early in the semester. Not a good teacher.
Expected me to read, think, and write all on my own! This was my "welcome to college" class. Before this it was child's play. Learned so much and yes, he's hard but he is always there to help. A REAL teacher.
Attendance and participation count for nothing in his class. This professor was totally useless and irresponsible in the way as a teacher. He won't take any time for his students, but pushes it off to other departments. I would have given him zero stars if it were an option.
He is not a teacher. He only presents the work. I could have gotten better grades teaching myself from a book.
I would have stayed in this course and would have dealt with any difficult assignment that he through at me. However, he never made his students feel like they could succeed. He is a great lecturer but also is very unclear of what he wants and will leave notes on your essay that more so beat you down than criticize. I warn everyone about this guy.
He doesn't help anyone, he gives editing marks but they become too convoluted to understand. Asks you to do one thing one way (like not directly refer to anything in the book) but turns around and marks you for doing what he said to do.
Tough but fair. I don't know how much clearer he could be plus always offered help after class. Not sure what other people are thinking. Course if you misspell "threw" it might not be the professor who was the problem.
Don't know who people had for 101 but he was no different than my previous english teacher. Paid attention and did what he said and got a B. He's allright.
Best Professor ever, he pushed me and believed in me. He honestly cares for his students (the ones who want to learn). He's funny and sets great examples so you can better understand the work. Yes, he is serious but if you get on his good side you'll see he's not that bad. It doesn't hurt that he is E-X-T-R-E-M-L-Y HOT!! Helped me concentrate ;-).
Mills is awesome, hands down. Funny, passionate, encouraging (if you try). Had him for 102 and Creative Writing. If you can write and create a thesis for your paper, you will get an A. Unfortunately a lot of people cannot do this, and blame the professor. He helped me organize my writing, and now every paper I write seems easy. Thanks Mills!
Very knowledgeable, but extremely unhelpful. He seems more interested in showing off what he knows about English Literature than in actually educating his students. Very rude and disrespectful. If you take him, don't expect to learn much at all, because he's got no concept of constructive criticism. Seriously, don't even waste your time taking him.
Professor Mills did not take the time to help his students. He expects you to learn everything in EN 101 before going in 102. He is also very arrogant and likes to show off what he knows. He is a very smart guy though, he just doesn't know how to show you otherwise. He will make fun of his students for not knowing certain things. Don't take him.
Love this guy. Definitely not for slackers, though.
Prof Mills is no jpke! You will not 'just get by' in his class. If your not ready to dedicate yourself to this class, than chose a different professor. But the fact that he is HOT helps a little :)
I had Mills for half a semester. Literally, half a semester. He gave us two papers to write and each one, he gave me an "F". This shocks me, as my papers were both looked over by two english majors. After my second paper, he literally said to me, "With the way everything is going, you should consider an alternative course" I would not recommend him
Michael Mills is without a doubt my favorite professor I have had so far. He will go above and beyond to make sure you understand what he is talking about. TAKE THIS PROFESSOR. I would take him again, even if I didn't relieve any credit for the class.
terribly opinionated and awful teacher. grading rubrics are mediocre and his opinion changes your grade, APA style or not. if you want to pass his class with a good grade, agree with the teacher, DO NOT have your own opinion. it helps if you're bald and ride a motorcycle.
I have never dropped a class, but I dropped his. I have gotten awards in high school and had my writing published. He told me I am an awful writer and "I should choose something else". He was never understanding or kind in any way.
Extremely intelligent man. If you have no life and you're up for a challenge, I recommend Mills. He's a very sarcastic teacher and if you are not a laid back person you will get offended by his sense of humor. Therefore, if you cannot take harsh criticism, do not take him. He makes you think deeply and will improve your writing.
Ok. Professor Mills will have very high expectations and will make you dig deep. I did pretty good, but his class took up many hours of time. He almost expects you to be a professional writer. But he will give you good feedback and you will work hard to get a good grade. I did learn a lot, but I still think even though it is ENG 101 it is tough.
You know those classes where you can sit in the back, text on your phone, and not do the reading? Where you can hand in some late work, if you do it, and pass the class? This isn't one of those. People think he's mocking them, they just don't get his humor. Ask and he helps. Don't do the work and he can't.
makes you realize high school was way too easy. take notes, lots and lots and everyting he says. put in the time and do the work and he will help you. otherwise why are you in college?
Never felt useless in my life until I took him for EN 101. Tough grader and loves to leave rude comments to bring you down.
This Professor is HARD! His grading sucks!! Will never take him again
This Professor is the worst ever! His instructions are not clear, and he refuses to help you. The way he grades is awful! For discussion, he tells you to write your opinion then he turns around says your wrong. Wish I would have known how he was before taking him.
Hardest teacher ever! I'm a straight A student and got my first and only C.
There will be a paper due every week as well as a DB question. If your not lazy, invest the time and consider the comments he offers you will be fine. He doesn't just give out A's, you must work for them.
Tough grader!!! A paper that was an A in High School WILL be a C- in his class.
Michael Mills class is not for the faint of heart. I would not take his class if you are not an English major because it will most likely hurt your GPA. As for his grading style, he is very critical. In class he expects active participation on the reading. He often calls on people. Also, he is condescending and has a huge ego.
Ive had the course for two weeks and Im hoping I can change professors, Im not an English major nor do I inspire to be an award winning author. Im a very good judge of ones character and just off of a week in the course I can tell his. Through his arrogant responses and just straight cut and dry explanations. Im trying to find a way out!
Lets just say i was at 3.8 gpa, I am now at 3.4. Very tough professor, he makes you feel discouraged instead of wanting to learn. You can put your heart and soul into a paper and only get a C out it. Funny thing is all my essays in other classes are always an A. Not sure what he expects from an undergraduate at a local college.
The hardest course I have taken at this class. The toughest grader I have ever had. If you have a choice of taking his class or another professor... take the other one. The reason I no longer have a over a 3.0
Dont even bother unless youre an English Major. You will spend your semester struggling trust me.
Most complaints against Mills are from people who fail to comprehend his sense of humor and the way he teaches. He is a very tough grader who tells you exactly what was wrong and exactly how to see it. He often reminds his students that if they need extra help, they can come see him. He is a very sarcastic and funny guy; you can't be intimidated.
Mills is the worst professor I have ever had and that is coming from someone who is currently passing his class. I hate to sound soft BUT please believe me when I say he expects too much. His grading is tough and instead of telling you how to fix it, he mocks it and makes you feel like giving up.
I would not take his class even if was a last resort. He expects too much. He grades the tough for example; he would take off points for almost anything. He is not a bad person he is pretty funny and sarcastic but not the best when it comes to motivating you to continue forward.
Worst professor I've ever had. He is never happy with anything. He seems like a very miserable man. He has a very boring voice during lectures and no excitement. I would never take this class again, not even if I was to get payed for it. He taught me nothing. WASTE OF TIME
The guy is no good, will completely make fun of your papers if theyre not his standards. Gives good feedback in regards to your papers however, he is a very tough grader. It took the best out of me literally to ace a 5 paragraph essay. It needs to be nearly perfect.
Lessons are notoriously convoluted. Feedback on essay assignments offer merely his own opinion(s), and his monotonous tone and meandering lectures were enough to make me rethink my decision to pursue an English degree. If constructive criticism is what you're looking for, do not take any of his English classes.
Do not take this professor. I enjoy receiving feedback from instructors, however his feedback is only his own opinions and if he doesnt agree with you, dont expect anything other than a failing grade. Lectures are boring and confusing.
Tough grader, but fair.
Worst professor I’ve ever had. Going into this course, I anticipated more work and becoming a better writer. However, I did not expect the professor to completely trash my essays. Assignments in this class are half explained and due dates are completely unrealistic given the workload. DO NOT TAKE!
informative lectures, clear instructions on assignments, answers questions comprehensively and gives examples, interesting dude
This was my first college course ever, so I have nothing to compare it to. I learned how to structure my sentences and essays, and use better punctuation; however, he is a very tough grader. You must be outrageously clear and concise when writing essays. You need to give your best because you will be lucky to get a redo. Surprised I got a B.
Tough, Tough, Tough. Monotonous and plain boring. Monotoned and pretentious. Grades depend on his mood w/ heavy biased feedback. Absolutely no make-ups, re-takes/ re-writes or extra credit. Easily irritated so be wary when asking questions, wait for someone else to take the heat. Will reply to emails. Can be kind of one-on-one conversation.
Can be a tough grader, but he wants you to learn and improve. Provides feedback on essays and drops the lowest grade. I highly recommend taking notes on all his lectures. Breaks everything down and will answer questions in and outside of class. Seems intimidating at first, but truthfully, he is a wonderful professor. I learned a lot from his class.
Not doing this because of the grade I received. The teacher is genuinely ruthless and don't expect any type of leniency. Very strict and the by far the toughest grader, everything will be picked out. Has attitude towards students and will make assumptions about you as well through his emails. Invalidates your questions by saying look at lecture.
He is a very tough grader. He does not like when you miss class and will make sure it is known that the reason you did not do good on the paper is because you missed class. He is extremely rude and will pick apart your essay. Even after you take it to the writing center, which is where he directs you to go, he will still fail your paper.
I passed his class but I can say it was difficult. I went to the writing center as he indicated but I would still get low grades on essays. Make sure to never miss class he wants you to be present every lecture.
I wish I looked at this site before enrolling so I could have picked a different professor. The course workload is very heavy and can feel overwhelming if you are a full time student. Essay feedback does not make sense and isn't aimed at making you a better writer. The grading is unreasonably harsh even with utilizing the writing center. Avoid!
From my experience, this professor gave me little to no feedback on areas of improvement and was very hard when talking to. Questions asked would often turn into lectures about listening/paying attention to what he went over already and a straightforward answer was hard to come by. He often had an attitude when trying to “help” people. 0/10
People say that outside of the classroom he's pretty chill but he has an extreme ego when teaching and makes you feel slow any time you want to ask him a question. He is very strict in grading, and if you miss one day of notes he wont tell you what the notes were about. If you have no one to talk to for notes or help in that class your screwed.
Absurd and strict essay prompts that do not make much sense. Very tough grader who doesn't seem to offer any suggestions to help you improve, yet constantly deducts points for unclear errors. If suggestions to improve are given, they are extremely vague and unhelpful. Would not have continued this course with this professor if the chance was given.
Would not take this professor again, even if someone paid me to do so. Tough grader, very strict, leaves condescending comments, overall rude. Seems to be forgetful his students are paying for his class. Never had a hard time in an English class until now, let alone it being an ENTRY LEVEL CLASS. Expects entirely too much from his students.
I've never had a hard time with English until now, please do not take this class if there is others available. This professor is very rude and has such a high ego. Leaves extremely condescending and vague feedback on everything then gets mad when you don't listen to it. All he does is say “Refer to the course materials” on everything.
Doesn't like when students ask questions, says check notes. Belittles if you ask a question about lecture, accuses you of not paying attention. Gives nearly impossible strict rules on essays. Don't use wide vocabulary, even if it is correct or he will mark you down. Claims class textbook doesn't teach correctly but is required. DO NOT TAKE CLASS!!
Avoid his classes like the plague. He is incredibly paranoid about AI, making us handwrite a major essay worth 20% in under 2 hours with no prep. He forces you to buy two $50 textbooks but only uses one. He's arrogant, dismissive of questions, and piles on homework despite strict attendance requirements.
