a little hard but i really enjoyed his class
tough but interesting
He is a good person but a really hard teacher. I wouldn't recommend taking him.
This guy makes you really work for your grade. His class is not impossible, but like I said, you have to work. You will learn and read some interesting stuff, but beware of his pop quizzes. When I had him, he gave us a pop quiz on the second day of class.
very hard teacher. He grades way to hard. Would not recommend taking his class
I've had him twice and hes tough. However, he really does teach you a lot. It's amazing how much you really learn. I recommend taking that class.
worth taking teaches well
don't take morris. bad teaching style and is very unclear on assignments. pop quizes everyday.
When you first start his class, I feel he tries to really make an impression. He isn't as tough as he lets on, though his class isn't a cake walk. It's a pretty tough class and expect to do the assignments to the best you can. Also, if RECOMMENDS reading something, you better because there will be a pop quiz. Was always willing to answer ???'s.
I really hated his class. Way too hard. I mean, come on.. we are only college sophomores! We don't know how to "analyze, criticize, evaluate in full detail and respond" to the degree he expects. I dropped the class within the first few weeks b/c it was just insane. Take from someone like Joseph, she is a lot more helpful, clear, and understanding.
Rough class. He is very demanding on his assignments. You better read the "reccommended" reading, because he WILL quiz you on it, and quizzes can make or break the grade in this class. He is very good help when you do not understand something, but if it is covered in something he has assigned to read, he may just tell you to reread it. Good teacher
If you "only" want a grade, don't take him.If you care to learn how to write professionally, then do.He doesnt grade hard & he looks for quality and dedication. He is realistic, and friendly. He cares that you get what you pay for in college. He doesnt try to get people to like him, he does his job. I learned alot and am going to take him for Eng. 2.
if u are just lookin to breeze in and out of engl this is not the teacher to take, you will ahte every min of it. but if u are looking for a teacher who will help you understand and improve your writing skills that will help you in the furture i would choose no one else.
Is very helpful to his students, is a little bit of a windbag but he does know his stuff. Very good teacher.
He expects you to know your stuff! He expects you to listen! Do neither, and you will fail. Do both, and you'll pass easily. Just pay attention, and don't be afraid of taking notes!
He is a tough teacher and you will write several papers. if ur not good in writting find somone else.
Like everyone else says if you are wanting an A don't take this man, I tried my best and even asked how to improve and got no help and a high B. some say he is helpful maybe to some and not so much to others. It a freshman level course take someone else..
Kinda hard but if you want to learn this is the guy to take.
Boring teacher. YOU will Write a lot of papers in his class. If you dont like to write take someone else
Mr. Morris really knows his stuff. He does get long-winded sometimes, but you couldn't ask for a more helpful teacher. Funny thing, you actually have to write papers in this writing course. Mr.Morris does help you though and if you do the reading and write your paper, chances are great you will pass.

You really have to write alot and read or you will not pass he does give pop quizzes alot. Also he is the type of person you get along with or you just cant stand him.
This professor is very sarcastic and talks to one like he's stupid if you ask any questions about ANYTHING! I do not recommend this professor and if one does take him be careful with his quizzes because they are extremely hard!
He is a great professor! I took him for Comp 1 & 2 and am now taling him for American Lit. You have to write, but that is to be expected in an English class. He gives "pop quizzes" but he tells you about them the class before. Read what you're supposed to read and write what you're supposed to write and you will pass.
After taking 1301 with Moorehead, I was completely lost on what a real paper was supposed to look like. He is very helpful and he doesn't make you feel like an idiot for asking questions. I would take him again!
This class was so easy! He gives quizzes over required reading, but then lets you use the book. Just skim before class. He does expect you to write (come on guys, it's composition). He is also very helpful. Make sure you pay attention! I highly recommend to people who want to learn.
If you do your work, read the instructions and don't plagerise you will do great! His quizzes/tests are all open book.If you aren't a good writer, go to the Learning Center and have them proof read your paper.Mr. Morris is a great teacher and really easy if you aren't lazy. I highly recommend him, I learned loads!
I took this class online and it was great! As long as you do your work and do not plagerise in any way you will do fine! This is not an easy class to fail!
I took ENG COMP 1301 online. The class is reading and writing intensive, that is expected from a ENG COMP Class. Prof. Morris knows his stuff and is fair. He's helpful in giving advice to improve your writing skills. You'll read a lot and write plenty of essays, so be prepared. You'll become a better writer. This class is challenging and worthwhile.
Gave me a zero for formatting when I followed the check list.
In this online class I felt he graded too harshly! I have taken over 50 hours at Eastfield and this is the first time my grade dropped below a B. I spent a lot of time writing and revising but it still was not good enough. He seems very nice but to please.
I had no problem with Mr. Morris. I believe he was more than clear with his expectations up front and was an effective communicator. Do not expect to NOT work in this class, but you will become a better writer hands down.
This course was not as i thought it was going to be. He talks too much and is very anal about what he wants in his essays. All essays consist of an augmentative essay and you don't even get to pick your own personal topic. Essay requirements are clear and simpe&easy, just that the topics assigned were lame.
If you enjoy weekly reading, weekly quizzes, & high expectations in your writing then this is your professor. His directions were specific and clear, but his expectations are very high too. Unless you are an expert writer, I don not recommned him!
Expect to read and write in this class and then read and write more. The quizzes are open book which is helpful. My only complaint is that some of the writing assignments are really off the wall. No research needs to be done at all, though. If you want a good grade, it requires a lot of work. Period.
Difficult Class! You have to ask a lot of very specific questions . Do the reading! Summarize chapters in your head before going to quizzes! Read all his tips online. You can't slack in this class. If you are a hard worker and want to really improve your writing then go ahead. Looking for an easy A? RUN! This is a real college lever class!
Before you take his online course, ask yourself: Do you want to pay for a tried-and-true textbook full of useful advice or a self-written book full of rambling, vague observations? Do you want assignments to be set in advance, or just a few days before the deadline? His online class is immensely frustrating; you'd be better off with someone else.
He gives you almost no time to complete essays they can only be done after he''s graded and returned your essay proposal which he often hands back the day before the essay is due. He takes off WAY too many points for things like not indenting paragraphs. You have to post on a forum and respond to other people''s essay responses which is tedious.
No, just no. English has always been my best subject but this man thinks otherwise. Very sarcastic, somewhat rude. Cusses a lot, which I am used to. He is very straight forward with you and will hardly ever spare your feelings. Often times he would comment on my metaphors or use of figurative language saying that it didn't make any sense GOOD LUCK
Hope you like to read because you will be pulling double time, you have to read the textbook and a class assigned book. There is a quiz every other time you go to class so if you don't read or don't come you are in trouble. Terrible about explaining topics and very confusing.
I had a really good experience with Prof. Morris. He's got a dry sense of humor-reminds me of Grumpy Cat-but that makes the lessons more entertaining. The book can be used for 1301 and 1302 which is gonna save me some money. Good information on writing skills, and he's very helpful. My only complaint is that we did lots of anotated bibliographies
Good--very helpful, detailed assistants with writing process, helped me with my basic paper skills, almost always available in his office if you need him, clear directions, book can be used for both 1301 and 1302. Negatives--sort of sarcastic, but its funny. tough grader, didn't really like the "common book" the whole campus had to read last semest
He is a pretty tough and strict grader, but he's willing to help anyone who is willing to be helped. This is the type of class where you can't expect to show up and pass, but you get out only what you put in. He's kinda funny at times, which helps keep students engaged. I'd recommend to anyone willing to face a big workload and demanding deadlines
I love Prof. Morris!
I am shocked by all the bad reviews and tough grader tags. To me, he's been super helpful and lenient. Just be careful not to have too many absences. He will fail you if you have more than five absences (unless it's extenuating circumstances). I recommend him highly. Plus he has a quirky sense of humor.
Great teacher. Has away of helping those that struggle in English classes. Would definitely suggest to someone that struggles with English.
Took Mr. Morris for Spring 2015. I got a C on his class. He is a very tough grader. I will never take him. He does make you work for your grade for which he literally made you brain storm. But besides it all he had a terrible sense of humor.
He is a really awesome teacher! If you take the time to talk to him one on one he won't be too bad. He helped me improve in writing like you have no idea. But you have to keep up and keep looking for deadlines because he does not accept late work at all. Overall really good English teacher
One of the best. Taking his Creative Writing/Micro-Lit class is a must for you if you wish to create, critique and learn how to write short stories and poems that have a large impact with few words. Prof. Morris is helpful, honest, quirky and wonderful. He encourages speaking your mind and understands what true creativity is. Take this course.
He's sarcastic and not very helpful. Lots of last minute work with no prior notice and quizzes listed without acknowledging what the quiz will be over. He his in my opinion hard with. If you choose him good luck . I would not suggest it.
If you do not pay attention, you'll fail. Otherwise, you'll love this class.
Creative writing. Sometimes his assignments are a bit hard to understand, but this class was graded mainly on your participation. DOESN'T accept late work, so there is no way to make it up. the assignments I did do pushed me and made me a more creative writer. He does have a brutally honest personality so if you can't handle that don't take him.
Do not take it in short semesters. A lot of writing as well as reading. You must read carefully, especially a syllabus. His assignments can be very confusing so again you MUST read carefully. Easily take your scores down. Lost 60$ for his book because I dropped the class. Quickly responds to your email.
I wouldn't recommend taking his class if you have other demanding classes or work. He's more sarcastic than helpful usually, and his assignments are often unclear. He also waits until last minute to post his feedback for essays, which you need to look at in order to write the final draft.
I'm shocked by all the tough grader tags. I took him for 1301 and thought he was amazing. His feedback is very specific and it's impossible not to ace it if you just listen to him. I feel like I've developed tremendously as a writer after taking his class. He's also very funny. One of the best.
He is an alright professor. Although I did get a B+ I just think I could've done better. He gives really good feedback but sometimes his instructions are hard to follow.
Best professor/teacher I have ever had! I wish I could have had him for English 1302.
Great class to take if you want to become a better writer, bad class to take for an easy grade. Lots of video and reading quizzes, journal entries, discussion boards and about 5 essays in 8 weeks. Very tough grader but makes you a better writer. Great about responding to emails and answering questions. Communicates well on blackboard. Extra Credit
I would recommend against his online course if you are new. He recently did not update the calendar schedule until the day assignments were due. He also offered feedback on an essay draft of mine, so I went down the list of notes he left and made the changes, and he gave me a lower grade on the essay than the draft saying, "You made no changes."
Good class to become a better write, However he does grade heavily and his assignments are sometimes confusing. Quizzes are super easy, as well as Discussion boards, Essays are what get you a low grade because he takes a lot of points off for small mistakes.
His instructions can be murky at best. I went to the writing workshop for help on an essay and still made a C simply because he didn't like my conclusion. He also doesn't let you do assignments until the day they are due, sometimes not until 7 or 8pm that night. Also doesn't update assignments from years before and expects you to figure it out.
I wouldn't recommend this class at all. His instructions are unclear for his essays and can be rude when asking him a question. He also doesn't unlock assignments until they are due. You would be better off finding another professor. If he's the only professor left to take, then you would be better off waiting another semester to take English.
Hardest class I've taken so far. If you want to succeed, get ready to do a lot of back and forth emails. Assignments are very difficult to understand and his grading is extremely unpredictable. He definitely made me work for my grade. If you care about getting an A, you'll learn a lot because of how many hours are required to succeed. Good luck!
non helpful, left class because we werent paying attention, left the last 2 days because we werent worth his time
Pushes his own politics at every turn. His ego has its own building on campus but his ego has even fewer office hours than he does. Asks if you have any questions then chooses not to answers them. Not a teacher more of a grader. Super disappointing.
Micheal Morris gives assignments daily. Does not let you complete it in advance. Makes you buy his book and all assignments are focoused around one book.
Very Inconsiderate. He will compliment my work by saying "good thoughts" and then give me a grade of 99. Totally would not recommend for an easy grade. Accepts no late work no matter the circumstance, and also does not allow you to do any assignments ahead of time or allow you to know what future assignments will be which is bad for an online class
He can be funny during class but he's a different type of teacher online. Most of your homework will be done on ecampus and google classroom. He will give you homework every single day and he is tough on grading. If you don't check his feedback it will have a negative effect on you. If you don't mind having homework from him every day then take it.
When he "teaches" he does not explain the lecture fully, and when you ask him a question he is sarcastic about it. Also, he makes you buy an EXPENSIVE book he wrote himself and honestly it was a waste of money because we bearly even used it.
Save yourself the time avoid taking the class. You won't learn anything new rather a few grammatical things here and there. So far, the worst class I have ever taken.
Zero stars I do not like this man
I was behind because I never received the code for his class. So I emailed him and figured out how to attend his class. In my email, I asked for an extension on 10 assignments because I missed them. He rejected it, but my friend with the exact same problem, was granted free of all 10 assignments. When in his class, his feedback was awful and rude.
Terrible teacher, phones it in. He thought 16 wk course was 8 wk. Rude, obnoxious. I had to send a screenshot of the schedule to get him to believe it. Each assignment was full of his mistakes from wrong classes. Unhelpful, hard grader, never satisfied with the thesis statement. Worst experience ever. DO NOT TAKE
He gave me the wrong code to our online class & I had to make up a week's worth of material because it took him that long to get me the right code. He assigns work every single day. He makes you buy a book he wrote himself- have to give him credit for that marketing strategy. Very tough grader as well and only offers vague or confusing feedback.
He wasn't very helpful when I asked for help, when I did he would reply with I'm viewing it as an assignment I should view it as something else when I asked what the topic for an essay meant. He's not very helpful and grades roughly would not take again.
Incompetent when it comes to technology and planning. Too much work in a 8 week sem. Does not stick to his own syllabus and springs random assignments onto you and expects them done in an unreasonable time. DO NOT TAKE IF YOU VALUE YOUR TIME.
DROP NOW. I have been in his class for two weeks. During those two weeks, assignments have been posted 3 hours before the deadline, and an essay has been assigned with less than 24 hour notice. There is 2 to 3 assignments due every weekday and this is not fesablie for someone who works a fulltime (mon-fri) job. He grades assignments harshly.
This professor is the worst teacher I've had EVER! This man is very snarky with feedback and his assignments are very confusing to understand! I was very excited about graduating this summer but now I'm pulling my hair out with this guy's tough grading. If you are on the fence about this class just DON'T TAKE IT! PICK SOMEONE ELSE! WORST PROFESSOR!
Please! I RECOMMEND any student trying to succeed do not take this professor. He crosses the line when it comes to take the necessities to help a student. However, he contacted his supervisor before I got to her! If you're smart he tries to belittle YOU. Even though I was doing all my assignments. "He has some serious issues going on in his life"!
Dudes lame, class sucks, no sense of humor and he will make you hate writing
He is undoubtedly a harsh grader, but he gives very comprehensive feedback as long as you talk about it with him. Tests are open notes, and the homework is online and accessible. He is a nice guy during lectures and returns emails very quickly. A good professor.
I had a 79% in his class and he didn't even try to bump it up to 80. He's very strict on Attendance, you could be late by 1 min, and he will mark you absent.
DROP NOW!!
tryna b nice but there's no way to be nice. if there were 0 stars, oh trust me double it. double and pass it to the next person, thanks!
His instructions on work is so unclear, I had to ask my other teacher what he was asking me to do and my teacher was confused too. His grading is so harsh with very little feedback I could reflect on. The only thing I could relate to his feedback is to never take his class again.
