I took AP calc in HS but had to take this class as a requirement. The class is a joke. It's so easy. he makes lectures so much more complicated than necessary. My TA did a better job explaining material. He likes to throw curve balls at you on his quizes. He does drop a lot of quizes though.

MOSES IS AN AMAZING TEACHER. HE GRADES VERY FAIRLY AND HIS TESTS ARE OPEN BOOK WHICH SAYS ENOUGH. HE POSTS CLASS NOTES ON BLACKBOARD. THE KIDS WHO DONT LIKE HIM DIDNT GO TO CLASS OR DIDNT DO ANY OF THE WORK SO THEY DID POORLY AND ARE MAD ABOUT IT. I GOT AN A NO SWEAT. HE IS GREAT, NUFF SAID.

Extremely easy if you go to class. His mid term and final are very similar each year, and he posts his old ones. Quizzes can be confusing, but he drops a lot. Many extra credit opportunities. I got an A with little effort.

Gets a lil moody sometimes. Not very helpful at all. He definitely knows what he's talking about and has a very organized grading structure. He loves to randomly give quizzes (sometimes he'll warn) but is also very, very strict when it comes to rules.

Is a horrible teacher...offers no help whatsoever and is not flexible on grades at all. I was 2 points (not percentage points) away from a B and was given a C+, very unreasonable and has unrealistic expectations.

Moses is awesome. I consider myself to be Math retarded, and my average in his class was 102. There are so many copies of old tests floating around and the questions are never very different. Honestly, if people are having trouble with this class, I can't see them doing well in any class.

Awesome teacher. People did bad because they didnt come to class or pay attention. He's a real nice and funny guy. Actually, the class inspired me to get a secondary field of study in Systems Engineering (Linear Programming). Pop quizes, collects hw, attendance not required, but no make ups on hw or quizes. midterm and final arn't too difficult.

Ok so I got a 2 on the AP Calc AB exam and I have a 99 in the class. Prof is hilarious, pop quizzes are OPEN NOTES and i honestly dont udnerstand how ppl can do bad in the class, you must be thick in the skull or something. its like kindergarten math: 2x + 3y = 8, solve for X. Easy as pie. TEXT IS UNNECESSARY

The class was very easy, though sometimes a bit boring. It's only boring because he makes sure to really go over EVERYTHING. If you show up to class and pay even minimal attention you will get an A. Notes are VERY detailed, and his quizzes are open note. He is very knowledgeable and tries to make the class interesting, hes also rather funny.

Only good professor for Math 51/52 despite that he has a tough grading policy. Will take off unreasonable amount of points for small details. Go to lecture, he gives pop quizzes and he will give two in a row if you leave. Offers extra credit but the problems are nearly impossible. Drops lowest quiz and homework.

Easist math class i have ever taken, had a 103 in the class before the final and got an A in the class. Quizzes are easy, midterm and final were easy, he gives extra credit, but the class is a little boring. He drops the lowest hw and quiz... I thought it was a great class.

The only good math 51 teacher. He is clear, organized and profesional. He wants the students who come to class to do well. He drops lowest quiz and homework. His TAs were also very helpful. Lectures are a must because he gives pop quizzes.

Read, read, read his notes. He really goes out of his way to make the material clear. However, he always throws in two tricky questions at the end of every test, worth 25% of the test, and can make or break you. Go to class, he always gives random quizzes (6-7 per semester). May appear friendly/funny in lecture, but he's unhelpful during hours.

I love him and the way he teaches. He makes a hard subject very approachable and loves to tell funny stories and jokes to lighten the mood. Very helpful in office hours, and his lecture notes are always clear and posted. I hate math, and I like going to this class.

Had Moses for 51 and 52. Makes people who have never learned the material before understand math. Tests are out of 110% so he throws some trick questions in at the end. Loves to tell funny stories about his past. Gives pop quizzes. Go to class!

I hate math, and calculus sucked, but Moses made it tolerable. He understands that you have other stuff going on, and if you let him know before hand, he helps you out. Very funny and posts his notes online, which makes things 100% easier. If you hate math, but need to fill the requirement, take Moses and you will survive.

I hate math and I still do, but Moses may very well be the best professor I've had at GW. He gives pop quizzes that are fair and open note, but you have to be in class. He genuinely wants his students to learn and he's always avail. for help. Dont take this class with any other professor.

His class is very straight forward. All you need to do is attend. Pop quizes are open notes so don't stress! You also do not need the textbook because he posts good notes on blackboard.

Moses is a good math teacher. Probably the best i've had at GW (which isn't saying that much). Hwk isn't that often, but he does give pop quizzes so come to class. He is easy but you have to do the work. Seems like a good guy in class, but outside of class he can be a huge prick. I would still recommend him though.

Professor Moses is an entertaining, clear, and sexay professor!! Though attending class is not mandatory, he gives "pop" quizzes every week. His stories about his daughter Isabel, and life in general keep the class from zoning out. Take this class! As Professor Moses would say: "Cheers!"

Cheers! as Michael would say. Lectures are posted and are as clear as day. So helpful with HW, and anything you want. The DEAN wants kids to do well. Exams are just straightforward to see if you know what you have learned. Pop-quizes aloong to way that are basic to see if you come to class. The best GW has got! Great stories and his daughter.

Professor Moses is amazing. The class was pretty easy. He gives "pop" quizzes (about once a week) but he dropped three of those for our class. Recitations are only for your benefit and are not mandatory. He really wants everyone to do well and he tries his best to keep the lecture interesting.

Moses is definitely the guy to get for math. Very high quality professor. Posts notes online after each class. Also posts practice tests to review from. Gives frequent grade updates via email. Gives open-notes pop quizzes during class.

I've had moses for 51 and 52 and i absolutely adore him! He genuinely wants every student to get an A! He gives out open-note pop quizzes which he drops your 3 lowest grades, there are 6 homeworks (drops your lowest one or two) and a midterm and final. VERY doable class. He is a GREAT professor!

Moses wants his students to succeed in his class. He makes himself available to students all time and has excellent TA?s. He posts his notes and old exams up on Blackboard to help you study, and even lets you e-mail him your HW before it?s due so he could check it and let you know what you did wrong so you can fix it.

I had him for both 51 and 52 and thought he was great. Obviously, 51 was much easier than 52, but he tries to make things as clear as possible. You don't need to buy the book for either class, nor do you need to attend the recitations. All quizzes are open note and open book. 6 homework assignments and a midterm and a final. Definitely recommend.

With the open note quizzes, 6 easy homeworks, and some extra credit opportunities, you almost have to try to not get at least a B in this class. Not an interesting class at all, but its the best option for 51 and 52. Do the homeworks, show up to class, although not mandatory, and you should be fine. Not to mention he curves almost everything, and gives you updates about your grade frequently, so you know exactly how you are doing.

Amazing professor. Really passionate about teaching seeing students succeed. He is the best professor that I've had to GW and I'm not even a math major---not even close! I really wish all professor taught like him. I was able to fully understand calculus.

This guy is literally one of the nicest people at this school. All of his lectures and lecture notes are posted on blackboard and he's extremely helpful if you go and ask him for help during office hours. He drops your lowest scores because hes just that awesome. Recitations are pointless, but its definitely worth taking! AWESOME CLASS

Fantastic Professor. Super nice and helpful. Definitely my favorite professor. He drops your lowest quiz grades and homework grade. There are pop quizzes in class so attendance is pretty mandatory. But he really wants his students to do well and will go out of his way to help you out. If you put in some effort you'll do well.

I am like most of you, I usually check this site before I enroll but I am kinda disappointed in him. He is an average Professor. Passionate about his subject, well he should be like that anyways. He seems to be very nice but extremely strict! 10 quizzes, mid-term, and final. A very very harder grader. Don't take him if you have a better choice.

Prof. Moses likes what he teaches and claims he likes his students too, but I completely disagree. I go to office hours and he refuses to help me. I remember stuff he teaches from high school, but most people don't, so explaining things in terms of "blobs & boxes" isn't useful. Needs more tests to even out the grade-10 pop quizzes, midterm, & final

Whatever negative review you've just read, erase it from your memory. Possibly the best professor at this school. Anyone who did not get an A clearly either sucks at math or didn't try whatsoever. He gives 10 HW assignments and EASY quizzes. If you email him your hw, he'll tell you what you need to correct. No reason not to get an A.

One of the greatest professors I have had at GW. I was never very good at calc. in high school but he made everything crystal clear. He allows you to send him your homework ahead of time so that he can check it, and you can send it as many times as you want! There were a lot of pop quizzes, but they were easy. His exams were extremely fair.

Professor Moses is phenomenal. I currently have him for Math 31 and will be taking the other courses he offers later on. He's clear, fair, helpful, friendly, and an all-around great person. His lectures are great, he posts his terrific lecture notes online, and he's very receptive to any requests or questions Strongly recommended.

Excellent Calculus teacher. He posts all of his lecture notes online, so you don't have to take notes in class. No need to use the textbook because his notes are amazing. His quizzes are easy and he posts prior exams online so you know what to expect. Makes Calculus easy to understand. Highly recommended.

BEST PROF EVERRRR!!! I'm not a math person at all and I absolutely loved this class, he's such a great teacher! And he manages to make his classes interesting. His awesome notes make it really understand everything. If you attend class and pay attention, you CANT do badly. Even a math retard like me ended up with 98 on the final & an A overall! :)

Moses is a great professor. His lectures are concise and clear, and his notes are incredible. After each lecture he writes up pages of color-coded notes that give you a perfect play by play of what he went over. The homework keeps the material fresh in your head, and the pop quizzes boost your grade as you learn. One of the best classes I've taken.

He was clear about some things, but not others, like that he was going to treat Mathematical Reasoning and logic as prerequisite knowledge. Somehow, he managed to grade math subjectively. He is very particular about definitions, and the logic of solutions and proofs much more than the substance of them. Hard class, harsh grading, and no curve.

People tend to dislike Moses but he is great. His lecture notes are hard to understand at first, but they are key to doing well. His class is difficult and you have to go (pop quizzes) but if you put in the work you should be fine. **LITERALLY ZERO NEED FOR THE TEXTBOOK** don't waste $200. He doesn't even recommend using it

There are a lot of thinks I like about Michael. He doesn't require attendance to section and he recommends that his students don't buy the textbook. However, he does not challenge students; I feel like I learned more in high school (the content of the course I swear is not real math). But you should still take him! It's a solid choice.

Moses is the man. The things you learn are obscure but easy once you get a hold on them. Class is required for most IA and Business majors. TAKE HIM. easy A. not mandatory but does give out a few pop quizzes. just go to class. pay attention. ask for help if you need it. you'll be fine. REALLY easy if you took Calc in HS.

He really tries to keep students informed, but in all honesty the class has realized the lack of application the class will have in life. Maybe 1/7 of the Calculus learned will be applicable later on. Also, information is learned at a steady pace until the last four lectures. He then crammed tons of information before the final.

Good calc prof. Lots of pop quizzes (open book) so attendance is mandatory. DON'T buy the book, he posts his notes so just use those. He is a picky, yet lenient grader. Overall I would recommend him.

Professor Moses is a great teacher! Attendance isn't mandatory, but he does give pop quizzes. Discussions are optional, tests have 110 points, and quizzes are open book. To make an A you need a 95 or higher, but it's manageable just go to class, read his posted notes, do the hw, ask for help if needed, and use your notes and computer on quizzes.

Moses is incomprehensible. He makes everything ten times harder than it needs to be. He makes creepy jokes in class. He gives pop quizzes, but you can use your notes which are incomprehensible. DO NOT I REPEAT DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. DO NOT BELIEVE THE OTHERS THEY ARE BRAIN WASHED. Finite math is stupid. Do not buy the book it is not necessary.

Finite math was not at easy class at all. Moses tried his best to help everyone understand the material but his instructions tend to be somewhat unclear. He is more helpful during office hours. Recitations aren't mandatory nor helpful. He gives a quiz or so every week and you are allowed to use your notes. Homework assignments are a bit difficult.

He is a pretty clear lecturer and an overall nice guy, but not very flexible when it comes to class policy and understanding students' extraordinary situations. Not a hard class if you keep up with the material, which can be a bit fast paced at times. Posts very good notes online which are a lifeline if you don't pay too much attention in lectures

Calculus is obviously a lot harder than Finite Math, but overall Moses is pretty clear (and can be really funny). His lecture notes have everything you need to know. Tests are not easy but following the notes and doing the homeworks helps a lot. Be ready for a lot of quizzes.

Homework and tests are much harder than the practice problems and in-class examples. Expects you to know far more than what he teaches you. Lectures move at a normal pace, but can be confusing. Teaches in terms of "blob" and "box." Teaches calc the complicated way - even if you've taken calculus before, you'll have to relearn everything. AVOID.

The lectures are very confusing, his notes don't make much sense. There are pop quizzes almost every day in the lectures, but he drops a few at the end of the semester. Do not take calc with him unless you've already taken AP in high school because he assumes you already know how to do everything. Discussions are helpful.

FANTASTIC Professor. Extremely kind, knowledgeable, accessible, and just a damn good teacher. If you've ever take basic calc before, his class is totally doable, and gives you a good reinforcement. If you haven't, it might be challenging, but I don't think you'll find any college calc 1 course that isn't. Still, with some effort you'll succeed.

FANTASTIC Professor. Extremely nice, accessible and knowledgeable. The class might be a tough if you've never taken Calc 1 before, but with a decent amount of effort its totally doable. If you have taken calc before, he does things a little differently, but hey, you have to be open minded. I think his different approach strengthened my foundations.

If you've taken calc in high school - this class should not be a problem. If you haven't, I still recommend you take this course because he is probably the best, clearest, and easiest calc professor. If you want an A, study the notes every week because he gives pop quizzes. The TA doesn't help much if you've already taken calc.

Provides excellent lecture notes that cover everything you need. Is more than willing to help and responds to emails within 24 hours even on weekends. If you send him the homework early he will reply with any errors in your work giving you the opportunity to correct. He also sends multiple reports throughout the semester giving you your grades.

Great guy. Sends weekly emails with a breakdown of your grade, so you know how much more you need to work to get the grade you want. Dropped lowest 3 quiz scores too. Puts all notes and past exams (with solutions) online. He's fair and the subject isn't too hard. Good class!

He is superbly unreasonable and strict. Like other people have said, you only get credit if you do a problem his way. If he doesn't understand your solution, he doesn't give you the benefit of the doubt and instead mercilessly (yes, mercilessly) drops points because of it. He doesn't negotiate even when you talk to him after class about it.

Let me also add that I decided to drop his class because after bombing the first two pop quizzes I had a 24% and it was already impossible for me to get an A.I then took the class online with a different prof. and got a B+. Lectures are very interesting and he is a very funny guy, some don't appreciate his humor and get offended by it. Lets class out early or gives a quiz. Drops lowest quizzes and hw. Students complain that Math 1051 was the hardest class ever, but it really isn't. Although his explanations can be long and little confusing, for the most part he is clear and gives numerous examples in class. Those who didn't do well in class either 1. did not show up to class or 2. didn't go to recitationoffice hours.

Professor Moses is both a tough grader and a poor lecturer. He uses his own hand-written notes and post them online. However, those notes are not coherent and clear. He gives students pop quizes that are not related to what we have learned in the class. Also he wants students' anwsers to be exactly same as he imagines, or you'll lose most of points

Not too much assigned work but the material is difficult. if you really go over his notes carefully and do reasonably well on the pop quizzes, you could end up in the A range. Homework is worth 40% of the grade and it's not that bad. Material is pretty interesting too.

Go to every class and listen to him carefully because the class is hard and his note is Not really clear. Anybody who complains about Moses is just lazy. He gives tons of practice problems, all quizzes are open note, exams are very similar year to year, and he will grade your homework before you hand it in. He is quick to answer questions, and loves to help you out, as long you make an effort to reach out to him. Show up to class and you will do fine.

Very nice in person. Extremely tough as a grader. Take his class, either do it 'his' way or get all points taken off. Does not use a textbook--skip classes you won't be able to make sense of his notes. This class isn't about math, it is about following the orders. Follow every order and get an A. He is a brilliant man and has many great policies (such as reviewing your hw if submitted 24 hrs prior to the due date). My only complaint was that he doesn't usefollow a textbook. While his notes are great, with difficult higher level abstract material it is necessary for a student to have a textbook to follow along. Incredibly hard but valuable.

AWFUL professor!!! Pop quizzes all the time, makes the class ridiculously harder than it should be by wanting details for everything like if you're using ymx+b, you have to label what m means. You have to do everything his way. No textbook or online work, everything is handwritten and made by him, no structure at all. Horrible at explaining.

This class is super stressful. He puts his lecture notes online, but they barely make sense even though I haven't skipped a single class. There isn't a textbook so study all of his notes and use youtube. He's nitpicky on anything you turn in. It's his way or the highway. He comes off as condescending when he answers questions. Avoid at all costs.

Moses is a great teacher. MATH 1051 isn't even that hard of a class so expect an easy B+ or A. He grades your homework before it's due so you can correct any mistakes and get full credit. Anyone who doesn't get a good grade in his class didn't show up to take the pop quiz (easy. He only counts 8 of them over the semester) or they didn't try. +++

Professor Moses has very reasonable, lenient policies. You can't really skip classes, due to the pop quizzes, but they're open note, straight-forward, and your lowest quiz grades will be dropped. If you never go to lectures you'll fail really quickly - so go! Moses is pretty funny and his lectures are worth listening to.

Moses is by far the worst teacher I have ever had. If you are not excellent in math DO NOT take a class with him. He moves at a fast, confusing pace no one in class can keep up with. You end up having to teach the material to yourself. His office hours are useless and his TAs are all foreign and can't speak english or answer your questions.

Have to show up because over 10 pop-quizzes. You can send your homework assignments in early and he will tell you if you got the problem right or wrong. Is VERY particular and you will not get it right unless you do EXACTLY the way he does it. Material is hard. Gives multiple old Mid-term and finals so no surprises there.

Clearest cut teacher I've had at GW. No Textbook. Show up, pay attention. If you do the homework and ask questions when needed the class is a breeze. He can be hesitant in helping sometimes, especially on the homework, but honestly if everyone's struggling on a problem he'll crack and discuss it. Easy A.

This class is not a math class. You learn the way he wants you to write a math equation.... if you do not write equations according to his way... you will literally get F or 0..... this class is ridiculously easy to get 0 on assignments. Professor Moses is probably the best bet for those in the Business school. You have to attend class as he usually gives a quiz once a week (quizzes are open book but still challenging). First half of the semester is rather easy, but gets difficult once he covers probability). Go to class, pay attention and you'll be fine.

Moses, while hilarious, seems to have anger issues. He's dropped the F bomb a couple times during the semester. He's an OK professor. I found his office hours to be useless but if you are good with maths you shouldn't find this course hard. Just practice the problems he puts on Blackboard and you'll be fine.

Not a bad guy, knows his stuff but he moves at insane paces. Not his fault the Finite material is some of the most pointless "math" in the world (what is the probability a password has a 6 next to a D and begins with a 3??). Pretty strict and his quizzes are brutal. Pay attention to his notes, they are tough to follow. Good professor though.

Moses is a tough grader and you must write your answers his way. He does not use a textbook, but posts notes that he writes the day before class. If he notices students are struggling he will take an extra day to go over previous material. He posts practice problems, midterms and exams. We had a pop quiz every week, 14 in total but he dropped 5.

Had him for both Finite & Calc, honestly he makes the class very difficult and is SO hard to satisfy. If things are not done exactly the way he wants, he will give you a bad grade. Moses is tough, but you just have to try. It's an entry level math course but you still need to go to class, do the homework. The quizzes almost every class are not that hard. If you're someone who had to do a lot of practice problems in high school, that will probably be the case again. Not terrible, not easy.

DO NOT TAKE FINITE MATHEMATICS WITH MOSES!! He gives 10 minute pop quizzes at the end of every class and each question takes a lot of time. He is very condescending and does not want his students to succeed. There is no textbook so its very difficult to find practice problems for tests. Professor Moses is not a bad guy, but isn't a good professor. He has weird criteria for how you write your answers and comes off as rude. He makes the math more complicated than it is. At least he gives plenty of examples in class. To put it simply, it's not a class you can breeze through, you have to work and put up with him.

Loved taking classes with Moses! i took math1051 and 1252 with him, and got easy A in both classes. He is a tough grader but he cares a lot about his students and is always willing to help. Prof. Moses is a good teacher, he explains the concepts very well and makes sure everyone understands the material yet every week there are pop quizzes and the hw is graded very harshly. It's possible to get an A with Moses, but you'll definitely have to work for it. He's specific in how things need to be written and will take points away if they're not perfect. Lots of pop quizzes, but those aren't too bad. Workload seems manageable but his condescending demeanor and constant negativity make it hard to enjoy this class.

I went into this class having already taken calculus in high school and the professor over complicated everything to such an extent that I greatly struggled. Worst professor I've ever had. Disorganized lectures, no explanation of the arithmetic he is teaching, not receptive to questions. He becomes frustrated when students do not do well in his class or ask questions he deems "elementary". Two quizzes a week with not enough time to complete them. Moses' class isn't of hard material but gives a lot of trouble to students. Moses isn't a nice teacher, if you go to his office hours he might call you stupid. BUT it's not a hard class. He posts all material online. He's also super responsive, before submitting homework you can email it to him and he will send you back feedback. Super helpful

Moses isn't that bad, he's just very good at mental math so when he presents the problems, he's able to solve them really quick which throws you off since you're still trying to understand the problem, he already has an answer presented. There's a lot of quizzes but he drops them and he is very anal about the way he wants homework done.

Moses is a very formulaic teacher and will tell you exactly what he wants your answers to look like which is nice. He will take off stupid points but his problems aren't hard if you're decent at math. Many "pop"short quizzes (all open notes) but he drops a lot of them so they're nice grade boosters. Homework due every 2 weeks (usually easy).

This was my first ever calc class. There are pop quizzes once a week. If you do not do well on the quizzes go visit him during office hours- it makes the class a lot more manageable. Moses will not give help with homework assignments but will help you with practice problems very similar to the homework questions during office hours.

This man provided a wealth of knowledge at the expense of my mental health. Tests were extremely stressful, but proved to be rather easy (when you studied 10+ hours) and quizzes were harder than the tests. Get ready for some 0s on quizzes if you do not go to lecture. He also believes he is amazing, and he is far from it.

He is so straightforward. "Pop" quizzes become expected-so really no surprise. Plus, all open note, even open internet. He keeps highest 8 quiz grades, so I suggest getting high grades at the beginning, before the probability unit. People who complain of his pickiness are just lazy because he clearly tells you EXACTLY what he wants. Just do it.

Not as bad as people say. Sure, he has specific ways he wants things done, but if you do it the way he teaches you'll be fine. Open-note, open-internet pop quizzes at least once a week (he keeps the top 8 quiz scores). He also drops the lowest homework grade. He does lots of mental math during lectures, but otherwise he's fine.

This professor is tricky. He is very demanding about exactly what he wants, and at first it's difficult and frustrating to figure out what is it that you need to do. Once you realize that all you need to do is use his lecture notes, you could easily get an A if you put in the time. He drops the lowest quizzes and lowest homework, which really helps

Moses is an extremely rude and confusing professor. He makes the class so much harder than it should be and I consistently struggled on his pop quizzes. You must show up. The quizzes are hard to predict and he grades them very difficultly! I would not recommend this professor, he makes the class too hard and you will struggle if you're bad at math.

This man was actually TERRIBLE. As a senior in a calc 1 class he made the class impossible. There is no textbook. He gives you his personal notes & expects you to learn everything from those. He is extremely condescending & you feel bad if you ask a question. He told me not to get a tutor, just to ask him. Super hard/irrational grader. AVOID HIM!!

This is not a calc class. This is a class on how MICHAEL MOSES does calc problems. he takes off points for whatever reason he can find, like boxing your answer, writing fractions with a slash, or not having a 100% perfect log curve drawn even if you got the the right answer. literally the most unpleasant/condescending man EVER. also no textbook/TA?

Professor Moses is a great professor, and getting an A in his class is extremely attainable if you actually show up to class and put in the work. You can email him photos of your homework and he will revise it, and he drops you two lowest quiz scores. He is tough, but in my opinion a great teacher and extremely fair.

Moses is excellent. He's only tough and rude to you if you even bother to ask questions after not paying attention in class, which is only logical. Even though he posts all his lectures online, go to class because there is at least 1 "pop" quiz every week. Practice a lot, follow his detailed instructions, show effort and it's an easy A- or A.

Just about everyone who has taken a class with Michael can attest that he is a thoroughly unbearable human being. He is extremely uncompromising and degrading, and his arrogance is second to none. The class itself is relatively easy, but it's simply not worth your time to even consider taking this class. Take an equivalent course over the summer.

He doesn't have a TA for the class so if we don't understand something we have to go to him, but he doesn't exactly teach math very well. He doesn't explain where he got his numbers and so if you go to him during office hours, you'll get the same thing that he gave during the lecture. Honestly, this class needs a TA.

He is hands down one of the worst professors at GW. He degrades people who don't understand the information the first time. He will just say "look at the notes," even if you don't understand it. He doesn't like it when you have his notes opened during lectures. He pretends to be nice during lecture, but a total jerk in office hours.

Expect a pop quiz every single time you go to class. He hates having TAs. Go to office hours and he will make you feel bad about yourself and not be helpful. Literally, such a pain to get through this class. My roommate and I practically gouge our eyes out during his lectures. You will hear "Questions, questions, questions?" so many times, and he will say he doesn't want to emphasize how you write your answers then go into a 40 minute rant about it. Moses teaches calc the moses way. This would be alright, if he wasn't a condescending jerk about it who makes you feel stupid for missing a slight thing. He gives you his own notes, which are hard to follow, but slightly better than a text book. He did a horrible job moving the class online for COVID- unflexible, rude, and over penalizing.

This class is supposed to be for non-STEM majors but the prof doesn't treat it that way. He's a tough grader and there is no textbook, so all you have to work with is his lectures/notes and you have to do the solutions in his specific style or you'll lose points. If you care about your GPA, I would avoid this class if possible.

Professor Moses is a good guy however he fails to realize that everyone's situation at home is different (technology, etc). He grades everything super strict and takes off unnecessary points if it is not his way. I have a WAY better grade in calc than I do here, this should be an easy A if you try but it is not.

A lot of the ratings on here make sense when it comes to technology, strict grading, & teaching yourself. However, Moses is super helpful and *regarding online platform 2020* if you watch all of his lectures, go to his Q&A, and take good notes you will get an A easy. The problem types are given to you step by step meaning you have all the answers.

If you learn better through live classes and not recorded lectures, I would not suggest taking this class. It has been by far one of my hardest classes and he will literally ridicule you for getting a concept wrong in help sessions in front of everyone. Just listen to the rest of the reviews.

STAY AWAY. I took his 6 week online class over the summer and he is the most inflexible professor I have come across at GW. I was in a remote area and I did not have any service, so I couldn't turn in my homework until I had internet access. Due to COVID and no internet you would think he'd be flexible. Had to drop this class halfway to save my GPA

This is an easy class if you stay on top of everything and don't make silly mistakes. All you have to do is watch the weekly lessons, do the homework, and practice. He also gives practice quizzes that are very similar to the actual quizzes. He is very strict with how he wants you to write your solutions, but it's doable.

I would not recommend taking this class. Professor Moses does not teach at all and you are expected to basically teach yourself with his notes and short videos. Everything in his class is definitely doable but he just has a very specific way of wanting things done, but also has no layout of teaching the students.

Michael was a great professor for being online. He assigns asynchronous video lectures (at most 1 hour worth of videos for the week) for math 1051. I found the material very helpful. If you need extra assistance, you can go to the recitations or schedule a one-on-one. He does have a strict solution format for students, but there are no surprises.

Here is the thing. His lectures make sense only if the previous one made sense, you get lost once and you're done. He gives a lot of assignments and is cool about drop grades and i used all of them. I gave this class a ton of effort but i would recommend anyone else because the stress is not worth it. All his lessons are self made, no outside help

Never had such a difficult professor. Online learning, he is VERY unforgiving when it comes to time, the quizzes and tests almost never have enough time and if you're off by even a minute he takes off a huge number of possible points. I took his 1051 and 1252. He has clear guidelines on grading, so there are no surprises. Midterm and final are weighted heavily, but you have chances with bonus points on the exams. He only takes the 8 best quizzes from you, so your grade is always better than it seems. He's not bad. He can be rude at times, but emails back right away at least

Okay so his reviews are awful. He is very particular about how he wants you to give your solutions. But, all you have to do is your part. Attend lectures, pay attention, do the homework. And he checks your homework solutions before you submit which helps your grade! Not an insane course. Just an A you have to work for.

How Prof Moses teaches math is very unusual. He has his own way of math and doesn't accept any other form. He extremely cares about how the math is presented and will penalize you in case you do any different method. He does not care about his students and will sometimes laugh when students ask questions. Class is mandatory if you want to do well, but you can skip Mondays, Wednesdays are quiz days. We have a quiz every week. His office hours are very intimidating so you should ask your questions during class. He's a very strict grader. He gives advanced checking for homework, but he grades everything so hard for no reason. Soooooo good luck!

Ok, so here's the deal... Moses' class is a great experience if you can put your pride to the side. He is extremely knowledgeable, brutally honest, and has dry humor which is quite funny. EXTREMELY passionate about math. He is nit-picky about his steps, but if you follow them without complaints there is no reason you shouldn't do well.

There are weekly quizzes, and there is no text other than his pre-written notes and short instructional videos. He comes off as very harsh to students but is aware of it, and I respect him for it. Moses is a technocrat and very inane is his grading, you lose points for writing 1/2 instead of ½. He has clear grading standards, weekly quizzes, and the homework is best done in small increments. He offers advance feedback on the HW, so it is easy to get 100%. He does not curve. He drops 1 HW and 2 quizzes. He def has an ego, so beware.

Professor Moses is hilarious in that he roasted students in front of the class about once a month for showing up late then kicked them out. Quizzes and tests are graded unnecessarily harsh. This class is more about this man's ego above anything. Took Calc 1 because 24+ AP Credits, and Calc is my strongpoint. Slight deviations from his format even with the correct answer, expect more than half points off. Slightly simplifying a derivative to make calculations easier may result in full points off. Also rude when providing feedback.

If you take effort into it, grade over B+. He gives quizzes every week on Wednesday. If you are ready to do exercises that is given and read his feedback of your hw. Ask questions super responsible for his course and his students. He won't get back to emails in the evening, but he will definitely get back to you the next morning(8am).

Michael Moses gives a quiz every week. Although you give him the correct answer, you lose points if you do not do it precisely as he would like to see it. Mathematical writing is too essential for him too. He does not give extra credit, and his office hours are just him repeating the same things he says in class and in his lecture videos

I genuinely like Professor Moses, but his teaching style is very difficult to keep up with. It is an entirely new format in comparison to high school (show no work), and he has unnecessarily harsh requirements/expectations. No textbook, only his notes, and videos. In other words, it is entirely his own version of math and isn't for everyone.

He yelled at our entire class this morning and then ended class 50 minutes early. He has a bit of a temper. Also, he looks for nothing less than perfection when grading homework assignments. Attendance is practically mandatory because of weekly quizzes, but be prepared to listen to his rants about how lazy students are.

Although seeming harsh at the start, is true to everything that he says. If you listen to the things he says in his lectures and taking them 110% into account you will be fine. If he says spend 3 hours a week spend those three hours a week. When he says to look in his notes, the answer will be in there.Grading is harsh if you dont look at his notes

He uses his own well-organized notes which make it easy to follow, but you have to pay attention because you have quiz every week on the pervious weeks material. He's unpleasant and has snapped at students before because he came in on a bad mood.

Prof. Moses has weekly pop quizzes with your lowest 4/12 being dropped. Each quiz is open note, 1-2 questions with partial credit but it is very easy to bomb them. He emails you your grade multiple times throughout the semester which was helpful. I don't recommend taking unless this class fills your math requirement easier than any other path.

Quiz every week, drops 4 lowest quiz scores. Drops lowest homework score. Overall fine teacher, class isn't hard as long as you attend lectures and recitation. Moses is available for office hours often. Have to show answers his way, which you get used to. Can have a temper... Detailed notes are on BB for you to use along with videos, very helpful!

I get that everyone has different teaching styles, but theoretically the point of pursuing higher education is to learn, so teaching a class that doesn't facilitate learning, but rather promotes following orders and demands intricately regurgitated information is pointless in aiding students in pursuit of knowledge, especially in mathematics.

Not as bad as everyone says. He gives tools to succeed--- lecture notes, videos, practice tests + problems. The only hard part of the class is module 5 calculating probabilities but he drops lowest 4 quizzes + hw. Exams are more difficult, study hard go to recitations + class. He is good at teaching. Can have a temper but you will be totally fine.

Professor Moses takes a lot of time to make sure students understand the material and he is very accessible outside of class. There's only 5 homework and the lowest is dropped and 10-12 quizzes but the lowest 4 are dropped. However, he is VERY specific about how answers are written. Make sure you pay attention to exactly what you need to write.

An extremely caring and passionate professor. Assignments, quizzes, and tests are clear and easy if you follow his notes. Moses will tell you what he wants you to learn and how to show you learned. Very easy to get a good grade if you pay attention in class. He posts all the class notes on Blackboard making it easy to catch up if you miss class. Quizzes every week but he posts practice quizzes which are very similar. Allows you to get one check per homework problem before turning it in so you can get feedback to improve and fix any errors.

Terrible professor! Absolutely ZERO care for the hard work you put into this class. He is a tough grader and wants everything done HIS WAY according to HIS TEXT. In his syllabus he advises to only go to him for questions, and when you're struggling will tell you, "there isn't anything else I can recommend you do other than use MY TEXT." Avoid!

If you have the ability to take a different math do it. The material isn't hard, he's just anal about answering it in his way. Office hours/TAs are useless because he teaches it the same way. He always doesn't want you to go to anyone else for help which doesn't make sense. He also is inconsiderate. You're better off taking Calc II.

Although Moses is a great guy, this class is diabolical. Coming into College, I wasn't the greatest at math but still couldn't evade not taking a math first semester. There is a quiz every Wednesday. The maths he covers in this unit is unlike anything you've seen before, and if you have seen it before, he forces you to solve it in HIS way.DONTDOIT

He gives you everything you need to succeed: lots of online videos and practice, slow step-by-step lectures, open-note pop quizzes that follow an exact format. No trick questions, he tells you exactly what to do and how to do it. This is the first time I've excelled in math in a long time - just pay attention! Will be taking him again.

Anyone who says Professor Moses is rude is dead wrong. While he is particular about solutions, he does provide you with an extreme amount of practice material and notes. His lectures are slow but very effective and makes the material very easy. Show up and you will be do great. A grade of 95% for an A is ridiculous though.

Prof Moses has a very specific grading criteria as to how he likes things written out. Half the difficulty in this class is remember what you are 'allowed' to write. The lecture slides can be confusing but he posts videos as well to help.

However this makes it hard to follow his train of thought, when teaching he goes over the steps like they're common knowledge/does multiple steps in one (most of the time doesn't explain/he does very briefly). He is a nice person, but there is only one way to do things. Make sure you understand his way of solving the problem because his way is the only way he will accept it. He does not explain concepts in different ways, so if you don't understand it you will have a lot of trouble. When he answers a question in class, sometimes it can feel infantilizing

He is very specific about the structure of answers, but as long as you study his notes or watch his videos, it's NOT hard to remember what to write and what not to write. I had Moses for both 1051 and 1252. In hindsight idk why his rating is so low. Yes he is a tough grader, yes he may seem out of reach (except if u email/ office hours). BUT, he is a traditional math teacher in every sense. Breaks down every topic/unit into a code, tells u exactly what he wants. Makes math easy. Take him if u appreciate tough love.

This class is way harder than it needs to be, mostly because he basically creates his own curriculum, giving you no outside resources to work with. I've never seen a professor stingier with grades. He shows no respect toward students and always acts grumpy. He gives too many quizzes and makes the exams way too long for the short time we're given. If I were you, I would never take a class with him.

Moses is an extremely rude professor who doesn't allow any outside resources (no YouTube help PERIOD) because his 'system' is so strict that you cannot learn any other way.
