Professor Nava is a good teacher, but goes through the material really fast. He teaches at C.S. Channel Islands while also teaching at Moorpark, so he knows what he is doing, but if you haven't taken math in a really long time, don't sign up for M05. Make sure you know your stuff before. You can't recap basics during it because you NEED TO STUDY!

Dr. Nava is very knowledgeable, but he spends next to no effort trying to make the math make sense. He teaches the material, but doesn't really try to reframe or explain it. He's a brutal grader, and loves throwing tricky questions on the tests. Your entire grade will be pop quizzes and the tests. He is a bad choice if you struggle at all with math

I hadn't taken a math class in over 2 years. He reviews some basics at the start and frankly, I expected Bus/Applied Calc to be much harder. Quizzes are from homework so doing hw is for your own benefit. He grades a little tough but takes the material at slower pace than regular Calc. Didn't need a graph calc, only simple math. Energetic and funny!

Dr. Nava is really knowledgeable, but an awful teacher. He extends little to no effort trying to explain the material, instead only going over the methods, skipping steps along the way he doesn't think are important. Doing poorly on one test will destroy your chance of getting a good grade, his "error analysis" barely gives points back.

Dr. Nava's linear algebra class was really tough because it was proof-heavy and I had no prior experience in proofs. It's unfortunate that class only meets once a week because Professor Nava is such a nice and hilarious guy. He goes over every step in lecture and explains that there is more to just doing derivatives or integrals. He is extremely lenient on tests and his projects are made for you to succeed and have fun learning about calculus.

As far as statistics goes, he was the easiest you'll find at Moorpark. The lowest grade he gives is a 50 on tests, and you can take them twice. However, he doesn't answer questions very well and he his grading isn't very clear. If you put in the effort though, getting an A or at least a B isn't hard. Just stay on top of assignments.

His program that he uses for homework (Knewton Alta) is the bane of my existence. Every time you get a question wrong, it adds more at the end. With each question taking ~15-25 min to solve, it makes homework take forever. I spend 12 hours a week on this class homework which takes away from my other classes. I disagree with the other reviews. Knewton Alta does suck and there is a lot of work but you can turn in the homework late if needed for no penalty. The tests are VERY fair and match the homework and review almost exactly. As long as you do your work you can easily pass this class. If you show all your work you won't be accused of cheating.
