His class is really easy. He is a nice guy too. Make sure if it is football season that you cheer for the Cowboys to win. He loves the Cowboys. If they win he is in an even better mood.

Relatively easy lab. He understands that not many students will become Chemists therefor lets certain things slide. Highly recommended.

Dr. Nelson is very willing to help explain anything you are having a problem with. He gives good review of material before tests. In lab he is very patient and willing to help as well. Great teacher to have for a class of this difficulty. He simplifies the material for a better understanding. The text isn't always too clear.

Excellent teacher, he gives study guides before a test. If you use it, you'll do well. He makes chemistry somewhat enjoyable (as chemistry can be). I'd recommend him over many of the other professors.

Dr. Nelson- the best teacher I've ever had! He's very clear and makes Chemistry much easier than it is! I had his class from 8.30-9.45 pm and I never felt like sleeping. He keeps you listening and he also entertains you! Great guy! Take him!

Really cool guy. Made lab class fun and was fun to joke around with. He went really out of his way to explain everything and to make sure everybody understood, and was always there to help if you needed it. Curved the quizzes that everybody did bad on, and it was easy to get out of there with an A. Highly recommended.

I hated Chem in high school, but Nelson changed that for me. If you go to class and listen, you should get a decent grade (I got an A). He's VERY willing to help you if you're having trouble. But you have to work for it. It's not an easy class, but if you do the work, you'll do fine. Plus, he's funny and cute in his own little way.

He's not only hot, but funny and knows what he does. Chemistry became my favorite subject and he became my favorite professor ever. Loved him, he kept my attention through out the entire class period. I've learned a lot. Take him anytime!!! Unfortunately in fall he's in Laurencewill campus :((

He is an EXCELLENT professor. Chemisty has a lot of info to take in so it's not easy but if you have to take it take this class. Go to his office hours and ask questions. He is very willing to help and wants to do whatever he can to see you succeed. My lab prof was horrible and Nelson took his own time to answer all my lab questions as well.

Dr.Mike is an amazing teacher. He is passionate about Chemistry. He is able to break down concepts in ways that is easy for me to understand. He goes out of his way to help his students. He even helped me with my other classes. I give Dr.Mike an A+.

Dr. Nelson is the best lab teacher. All he requires is that u put effort into ur lab reports and ask him questions if you don't understand. Dr. Nelson will do anything in his power to help you, even if ur not taking his class. If you prepare ur lab notebook before each class and do ur lab report, you will be fine.

Don't believe the previous writer. Why would anyone expect you to NOT know the periodic chart in a chem class??? That's the basic of chemistry. Dr. Nelson is a very good prof. Try to register as early as you can intto his class so it wouldn't fill up before you'd register.

I took his lab class back in Dunwoody. AWESOME TEACHER!! Goes out of his way to explain things in lab, as long as you do the work you should come out with an A. I highly recommend anybody taking lab to take him. He also is a really cool guy and funny. I hope I get a chance to take him for 1212 Lab next summer.

Learn the periodic table, yes he makes you. It's the basis of chemistry. If you have to take chemistry Dr. Nelson is a must. Not in his lab, he'll still help you with your problems.

This professor is one of the best teachers I have ever had. He has a way of making the material amazingly clear and interesting. I wish he was teaching 1152. As previously mentioned you do have to do the work-HELLO this is college! But it's easy to make an A if you try.

AWESOME Teacher. Makes difficult concepts easy. EXTREMELY helpul. Difficult but fair assessments. No surprises on tests. His lectures are linked to textbook so you always have a reference. He's fun, too.

GREAT, GREAT teacher!! I was never lost thanks to him - even in lab with another teacher. I was always ahead of the game with him as lecture teacher. His explanations and ways of teaching make it much easier to grasp. Even provides worksheets and study guides to prepare for test - only 4 test. Also offers Xtra credit. HIGHLY recommend! I got an A!

He's a great teacher and expects you to try your best. I only had him for lab, but he helped me with lecture as well. He gets frustrated if you come to lab unprepared, but that's to be expected. He really does read your lab reports, but if you put in the effort, you'll do well in his class. Excel knowledge is a must..he LOVES pretty graphs!!

There's a reason why his classes and his labs fill up quick.He is the BEST. Not a piece of cake,but if you do what he says you will have a good grade. I used to HATE chemistry. Now I LOVE IT! Thanks Prof. Nelson. Do Not take Chem with anyone else. YOU WILL REGRET IT! He gives you practice exams from previous tests. Most of the time it's the same questions with different numbers (sometimes even the same exact questions). HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

The easiest lab ever!Midterm and final are straight from pre-lab questions, just change number.Just do your lab reports,turn them in on time and you'll get easy 100.He will let you do them over and over again untill you get a 100.Very helpful and friendly during labs.He will give you 20 bonus pts if your reports are nice and neat.Take him!

The Best teacher on earth. Most knowledgeable prof. He will make sure students understand his lecture. You can send hundreds e-mail, or you can meet him at his office thousand times to clarify the subject matter; he is such a wonderful person. All tests are straight from lecture & review sheet. If anyone cannot make an A, it is like suicidal.

he made me love chemisrty. chemisrty was headache for me, but by taking his class, i became more interested in chemisrty. he gives notes and old exams before test and give enough time to finish it. he is very helpful in both lecture and lab, regaedless of whether he is not teaching one of them. when he talks, it sticks right in mind.

At first, I was a bit frustrated that there was little/no pre-lab instruction/lecture. Felt lost at times as to what we were suppose to do. HOWEVER, he was ALWAYS willing/able to spend a lot of time with you if you weren't getting something, you just had to know to ask. Good personality, nice, smart and funny. Learned lots & I would take him again.

The best there is and ever will be. I have actually learned chem. Come to class everyday, take his notes, study the notes and do problems on your own. Do the study guides and you will get an A grade.

Dr. Nelson truly understands the art of teaching. I'm still amazed at how he can take difficult concepts and break them down to where you can really understand the subject. If you work hard in his class you will be rewarded.

Provides old test with review sheets to look over. Gives lots of extra credit. I took him for both lecture & lab, & both were fine. The lab is nothing but excel so know it. The subject is not easy, but he breaks it down to where it is not complicated. Somethings you may not understand, but he is always willing to help. Can text him anytime.

Dr. Nelson is an amazing teacher. I just completed this class and took as a pre-req. for nursing program. I was a little anxious about the subject and also about taking it during the summer. However, Dr. Nelson made this class so enjoyable. He's very approachable, knows the subject and extremely helpful. Got an A. Do your part and you will too.

Dr. Nelson is an excellent professor. From day one in his class I could tell he enjoys his job and loves to teach. He explains Chemistry in a way all students will understand. He likes to joke around about Taco Bell being his favorite restaurant and the Cowboys his favorite NFL team. I recommend him 100 times over!

Some professors get good ratings for just being easy teachers or maybe they teach easy classes, Nelson teaches chem and makes it a great class, really nice and approachable guy and he has a sense of humor, what more can you ask for.... what a beast

Awesome professor! Took him for chem 1211, 1212 and for 2642 organic lab and made an A in all three. His class is not easy but as long as you study all of the material well enough you will be fine!

Dr Nelson is one of the best and most helpfuul professor in GPC. Took in for 1211 and 1212 and made both A's. Any student that says they had a problem with him is because they don't want to study. His test are long but easy as long as you study the past questions. He helps build your interest in chemistry. If you are ready to learn, Take him!

Before taking this class I was scared because of how hard I was told Chemistry was. Dr Nelson helped me develop my interest and love for chemistry. His test are very easy as long as you read. Mr. Nelson is a great professor. If you want to learn take him. As long as you practice your materials and not make any silly mistakes you should be fine. "Unit and Spelling" matters! No Science classes are easy, but if you put little effort You will get an A!

It is better to tell the truth and be convicted. Dr. Nelson is an excellent professor, and I will recommend him anytime. Though we did not complete this summer's (2013)syllabus, it was our fault (students). I had the opportunity to make an A, but I did not do my due diligence. He is an awesome man!

Take him for both 1211 & 1212 lecture and lab. Best chem professor at GPC. Sign-up quick because his class fill up in a few day. Great Lecture, very helpful. Test is a little long and hard but if study his lecture and read the textbook ahead, you be making A's. This is one class I try not to skipped.

Took gen chem II over the summer with nelson. The tests are relatively easy since he gives old tests to study, and they are very similar. And the new things that pop up on tests can be prepared for by taking good notes. He also gives extra credit opportunities which add on to helping test average.

Explains concepts well, read and study as you are supposed to and youll get an A. You can always text him questions and he gives some extra credit opportunities

I had him for 1211 and 1212 and can't imagine taking these courses with anyone else. He is my favorite professor since going back to school. He has everything online (PP, practice tests, past exams) so no book needed, his lectures are super helpful and after you've seen him teach, you won't want to miss anyways. I very highly recommend Dr. Nelson!

I took him for Chem 1211 and 1212. HE is the BEST!! AWESOME PROFESSOR. Gives a lot of chances and extra credits, Ive messed up a lot during Chem 1212 because I worked in for full time, but after I quit and focused on studying I did pretty well in this class. He provides a lot of example tests & helps you a lot. NOT AN EASY A, but as long as u try!

Hands on the best Chem 1211&1212 teacher EVER. He gives out old test to students to study and prep for his test. Format of the test were the same. Got an A+ for both chem 1&2. HE is a MUST TAKE. Hes also funny and helpful. Easy A if you study his old test.

Hi to one looks for the best chem prof. Go with Dr. Nelson. He is a chem library for those who are hard-work students and want build their chem fundamental surely attend his classes. In addition to those are Pre-pharm, dentist, med are highly recommended to take his classes. Make sure pay attention his words which may be very helpful for you guys.

Dr. Nelson is the best science instructor ever. Listen to his angry speech and you will know how to prepare for his quizzes, tests and pass his class. Barely any homework , one 24-pages project. His tests are 2-hrs long but he only gives 1-hr and 15-mins to finish so practice, practice and practice what he lectures in class and his old exams 4 A.

I struggle with math and CHEM 1211 was very hard for me. Dr. Nelson made chemistry 1212 passable. He yells in lecture but it is not meant to be negative and he is genuinely kind and will always respond to texts. On multiple occasions he stayed late after class to help students. His class is not easy, but if you study and do work you will pass.

Prof Nelson is an animals. Once in a while he ROAR! and the whole class start laughing, make the time goes by so fast in his class. 3 long tests and 1 take home test of 28 pages long. If you want A, do all his extra learning opportunities (bonus), take good notes, study it and the old exams that he post on iCollege. It is Easy A in my opinion.

I took professor Nelson for both CHEM1211 and CHEM1212. He is a wonderful professor who can relate with his students. He keeps you entertained, and is full of knowledge. Always there for his students. Best chemistry professor EVER! Easy A if you attend his classes, he tells you exactly what he expects of you. Provides old tests to study, helpful!

Professor Nelson was a great professor! Do all of his bonus opportunities!! They are added to your test average which is 65% of your grade, which really really helps. He is a very energetic and lively teacher. You can clearly tell he is passionate about teaching and chemistry. Great teacher!

AMAZING teacher!! Took him over the summer and he was great. His old exams posted on icollege help ALOT. Gives alot of extra credit that will be counted towards your tests (65% of your grade). If you show you actually want to do well he will help you. Curves the final.

Just be aware, he's loud. He offers up to 10 extra credit points toward the test, but here's the catch. You have to do all the homework set for that test to get the full point. Also have to finish the prior homework sets to get the extra credit for the next one. We also had 2 take home tests, which helped a lot. Do your work, and you can get an A.

One of the best professors I ever had. Genuinely cares for his students, heavy lecturer but he keeps it interesting and easy to keep up with. Grades fairly, gives tons of extra credit opportunities. Definitely recommend whether you're good or bad at chem! Some effort required for a good grade. Overall, awesome professor! Take this class!

Dr. Nelson is amazing! I had him over the summer. He is excellent at explaining the hard parts of Chem 2 in a way that makes you understand it. He is hilarious and gives a great lecture. He is happy to answer all of your questions, posts old tests online, and offers lots of extra credit. Be sure to watch your sig figs. Loved his class.

Dr. Nelson was awesome. He is really passionate about what he does and was so accessible outside of class. He gave us his personal number to text him anytime with questions and was quick to respond. His tests and quizzes are hard, but if you do the reading and practice worksheets he recommends and are redeemable at chemistry, you'll be fine.

If you are looking to just cheat and get an easy A this class is not for you. You have to put in the work if you are doing it online. He is a good professor and will literally answer ANY questions you have. Study hard and try your best and there's no way you'd get below an A or a B. He is very understanding and gave us extra credit at the end.

Fantastic experience learning from Prof. Nelson. Substantial learning from astounding lectures and clear learning guidelines. Most importantly, he is very responsive and cares for his students. Free textbook, quizzes, and exams will definitely prepare for the finals and to have precise calculations. Professors should have him as a role model.
