Best math teacher for any seroius learner. Doesn't take any bullshit, but caring and understanding. Also funny and philosophical in a reality way.

Odu is very entertaining and brings statistics very interesting. The semester project makes you see, understand, and appreciate the use of statistics in evryday life.

Jokes around a lot, to some too much, but is fair. Lots of homework, but the tests are EXACTLY like the homework. Makes things easier.

I like the prof. alot. I learned more with him then with any other prof. I have a great respect for the prof.

If you do all of the portfolio, and study the home well, you should have no problem passing the class. Even if you fail all the test (like i did) but show that you are really trying he should give you a C. Thats what he did for me!

This teacher is helpful and clear on his material, what happens is that students go to his class thinking that they will get an easy A. He makes students learn study habits and he is very, very fair. Don't go to his class thinking that is algebra ok. Study and go for it. He is one of the best teacher I've known.

he has a different sence of humor. dont take offense to what he says, most of the time hes joking...unless you're really an idiot, but then you deserve it. i enjoyed the class and had no trouble understanding him.

The guy is very hard but you learn mat he is more than FAIR. He gives a lot af extra credit the portfolio you do is actually somithing I liked down the road after 3 years I went back and refreshed a lot of the material.People if you only take one class in Europe you will uderstand why most kids from overseas are better in mat. Cool guy and fair. If you do what you are suppose to do which is studying very hard you will have a B maybe a A. He will help you out during office hours. Do not leave your phone on! or He WILL make you cry. Good teacher if you want to learn something.

Not as bad as everyone says. Do homework and go to class. The tests aren't hard if you do the homework.

People who don't do the work don't like him. He can teach the material just fine. A little overboard on the homework, but it does help for the tests.

Has a very nice personality and awesome teaching skills. He makes you really think about the things that you are learning. He is not the kind of professor thats a push over or "easy teacher" but he gives u quality information. Another important fact is that his grading is intense. In my opinion he does that to limit us making simple mistakes.

If you just want a grade, don't take his class. Go to other campuses. I got all A's in my previous math classes without learning anything. If you really want to learn and be prepared when you move on, he is one of the best. I am glad to be in his class this summer after avoiding him as a student at HCC. The portfolio makes you more responsible.

A Lot of homework specially the portfolio takes a lot of your time but it helps for your tests. Don't get behind on your homework and you'll be fine.

He's a very good teacher. Although the portfolios are very time consuming, the answers and all the steps are in the solutions handbook, you just have to solve about five of them by yourself. However, if you do tha homework when you should and don't get behind, it will help you a lot on the exams. He is available after class and helps you a lot,

Very strict professor. It is his way or the highway. Must do the portfolios even if they serve no benefit. Teaches well and knows the subject very well. Must have a since of humor in his class or you will end up crying. I recommend taking this professor but be prepared to work. Only serious students apply.

Fear not! Odu is no drill instructor, & his lectures move swiftly and with enough interaction to ensure comprehension--discussion that examines whether *you* know it or not. Our class is averaging a B. Tests directly correlate to homework, so keeping up in class means staying automatically successful. This is HCC, not HS--be ready to work, and win!

His class is hard, but very passable. He does say everything three times; howerver, its been proven that people are more likely to remember something if repeated. If your looking for an easy grade don't take his class. If your looking to learn and earn a grade, take it. He will prepare you for each test and the final is taken from the previous test

I tok Professor Odu for Stats and Calc, and was blessed that he did not require a portfolio in either. I learned a lot, but you have to have lots of time to get the work done. Only take him if you are serious about learning. No slackers in his class. Comes off hard at first to weed out the slackers. Stick around and you will learn a lot.

Mr. Odu is a complete nutcase, but not really, he;s actually pretty funny, if you do your homework and study then your going to pass his class, if you don't then your not, if you don't know what your talking about and you say something stupid in class then he's going to embaress you. Don't take him if you want an easy pass

I can't believe all these people whining on here because they are too lazy to do the work. Odu is the most clear and consice mathematics teacher I have EVER taken. He emphasises only the relevant information in class, and tests are taken directly from homework and classwork...could it be any easier?

He will only test you on what he discusses in class so no surprises. He is very tough and if you don't make the time for this class you'll probably end up repeating it. It's about being able to do any problem he taught you how to do. He's more lenient to those who come every day and struggle than those who try to show up last second and pass.

Mr. Odu is a great professor, he's not out to get you at all. The test are from the HW directly and he will tell you in class. There's no reason why anyone can't get an A in his class. I also had him for algebra and he was great in that class too.

Very clear, structured professor, class is a lot of work, however, Professor Odu makes it as managable as possible. Highly recomended!

he's tough, but good. if the students don't like him, they need to grow up and realize that they are heading into the real world. the real world is tough and so is odu, but... he teaches you statistics, if you decide you want to learn

Odu is great professor. He teachers is such a way that the material just sticks. I only had to take about 10 pages of notes the whole semester. He comes off as mean and hard for the first few weeks to weed out the slackers. Stick around, do your homework, and pay attention and there is no way to fail his class.

This is a very good Professor. Failed his stats class the 1st time, however I took him again made a B. Passed his Algebra class also. He will not hold your hand, but he is willing to help if you are willing to put the time in. He will prepare you for life in the future. As far as his accent, that's a bunch of crap, get ready for foreign instructors

Not an instructor for the faint of heart, but he will certainly prepare you for harder 4-year university level coursework. Unlike some instructors who drone verbatim from the book, he actually engages in open discussion. He'll kick your butt, but it's because of this that I walked away prepared for Calc 2. Glad I took him.

If I can pass this class, then anyone can. Uou must do the HW! Tests are right out of HW and review problems. he is critical, and dont be "troubling" him :) He does care about his students thats why do the HW, go to class!! and you will be good. Mr Odu is very good in his teachings. I was struggling in his class and he helped me out when I asked him questions. Jokes alot. I learned at from his class. However, if you don't plan to study or pay attention, he's not the teacher for you. Don't be afraid to ask him questions, just be open about your questions after class. GREAT TEACHER!!!!

Take his lecture class and read the book ahead of time. If your not understanding sethimg ask for help! I think prof odu is a very nice man just weeding out the slackers. Good luck!

I could no longer sit idly and read these awful comments. Yes, Professor Odu is difficult. But if you do his problems and homework, study and PRACTICE IT, you will be golden for his tests. His accent is NOT difficult to understand either. If you're majoring in anything involving math, I'd suggest Prof. Odu; he will prepare you well.

Hey I believe this is the best Professor ever, and if you are lazy don't expect any gratitude from him. I took CAC I with him most him, it was challenging, he won't teach algebra which you suppose to know. The students I took that class with was really low, they the most stupid question. I don't know if it was fl, because students here are dummies

Odu is the Man!!! But if you're lazy and don't put much work outside the classroom YOU WILL FAIL.This guy KNOWS not only how to teach math but how to LEARN.His test are challenging but most of the questions are from your notes and homework.I'm an aspiring Engineer and I feel Odu has me in the right path with math and in college.Thank you!!

Prof. Odu is a much better teacher than these reviews suggest. He does not just work over the examples, but also encourages discussion about the materials. I learnt a lot more in Odu's class than any other class.

If you want to actually understand the course, then Professor Odu comes highly recommended. If you just want to get an easy A then look elsewhere. As long as you complete you HW, come to ask and show him you are willing to work hard, then he works with you. As for the accent, being ridiculed, etc. these are all irrelevant. Great Professor!

Odu is hard, but honest about what he expects. Dont go into Calc expecting to just "get it" it requires hard work and many hours of studying. He will explain a topic only once, but will go over it again if he has class participation, he doesn't like to repeat himself. I've got him again for Calc 2. He does curve if he thinks you tried your hardest.

A good funny teacher, but you have to apply yourself to the work outside of the classroom if you're going to get a good grade.

In all fairness, Dr. Odu is a tough professor, but if you do your homework and study you will do very well. I do not understand why people call him rude, he is very easy to talk to in class. I would recomend him to anyone. bottom line is, if you do not want to work, do not take him,but then if you dont want to study hard why are you taking calc II?

I found Mr. Odu to be a very fair teacher. He was helpful when I needed him. He's professional, so be prepared for class and study. The grade will not be given to you. I took the class online.

Odu would not be my first choice, but a lot of these comments are not true. He does bash students and it's hard to make an A in his class, but not impossible. My suggestion: Explore your options for STATS at HCC, but don't feel doomed if you end up with Odu. He is incredibly smart, actually friendly!, and will help if you are willing to work hard.

Very rude. only a small amount of people got A's. there are good qualities about him; he will tell you what is going to be on his exams, and his quizes are preperatory for his exams. which is good. he will give the class a paper called "HOW THE BRAIN LEARNS" he WILL TEST YOU ON IT.oh yeah, DO NOT take out your cell phone in class he takes pointsoff

One of the best math professors I've had. He is very upfront with what he expects, how his class will be, and the students responsibilities. If you're looking for a class that you can just float by in, heed his advice and take a different section. However, if you actually want to learn the material Odu is a solit professor.

Professor Odu may be the hardest math professor at HCC. However, he is also likely the best. If you're up for a challenge, still proceed with caution. If you're hoping for somebody a bit on the easy side, do not take this professor. Whatever you do, do not get behind at the start of the semester. I recommend him, but be ready from the start.

Yes his class is hard, but if you try he will definitely help you out! Its rare to find such good teachers that care about their students. As long as you do your work on time and study you will be fine.

Participation is not required:)He makes his students do work online and its a lot.You need 4+ hours/week for online HW and quizzes,it is the easy part, because you can use notes and get close to 100 % on this. Midterm and final was easy, he gave us review and based on it I knew exactly what to expect. Take him only if you willing to study a lot.

Whoever says Odu is a hard teacher obviously knows NOTHING about math. Odu is an AWESOME professor. He is difficult in the sense that he expects you to do your work, and he expects you to have prior knowledge. Not uncommon. He's funny, sarcastic, and helpful if you aren't afraid to ASK. Do YOUR part and he will help you!!

I took professor Odu for stats 1 in HCC and took stats 2 at USF. While everyone was struggling to pass stats 2 at USF, I had an A with minimal efforts. I have to give him credit for that. He wanted to ensure that we really understand the subject.

Dr. Odu is not easy but, if you put in the effort, he will help you and you will learn.
