I like this teacher because he explains everything clearly and actually helps you unlike a lot of professors that I have had in the past

Excellent professor! This guy really knows his subject. I feel he is very helpful. The class is tough, but you can use notes on the quiz.

Mr.Orr is very nice and he is willing to help anyone who is willing to admit they need help. He is more caring than most teachers and more sympathetic and understanding. He's a funny guy and cares about you doing well in his class. As for the clas itself, it is quite easy at first but becomes quite challenging. You will do fine if you pay attention

Ok this class was only easy cuz Im a math geneus, but even the things I didnt know, he made sure I understood. The way he expaines things is amazing. Math is black and white and that is how he explaines it to be. You will not find your self stuck trying to read between the lines. Verry good Teacher, knows what he is doing. Highly recomended!

Great teacher. I am very bad at math, but he would out of his way to ensure everyone understood. I insist anyone bad at math take his class for a better understanding of the topic.

Mike is a great teacher. I am so bad in math but he really makes it easy to understand, also very patient with student. I recommend him to everyone he give students many opportunities to do well in his class.

Great Teacher! He's very patient and takes time with his students. I always hated math, I 've always been very fearful of it until this class..he makes you feel very confident in yourself. Very helpful at first but began letting his personal life take control toward the end. I still passed but he was a little discouraging.

Great teacher. Very helpful & understanding. You can tell he loves to teach and wants you to learn. I hadn't had math in over 30 years. He made me feel at ease. Takes time to explain things. Good sense of humor. Offers lots of help in the math study center. Do your homework, study for the weekly quizes, and for the exams. I'm on to Math 90!

Don't expect to glide through this class. He's teaches well but expects a lot in return. He will try to weed out the weaker early in the class but then mellows as the class progresses. YOU WILL LEARN!

Amazing teacher, never had a better math teacher. Mr. Orr knows his math, and breaks everything down for you, if you don't understand something from the hmwk? He takes a few mins before he starts his letcures for the day to review problems that you had. Mr. Orr still helps me w/ my math when i go to the math study center. Always willing to help you

I LOVED HIS CLASS! I hate math, but he made it easy. I was surprised at the HUGE number of people who dropped, the class was SUPER EASY! He explains everything until EVERYONE understands! He's great! I would highly recommend taking his class!

MR. ORR ROCKS!!!!!!!!!! THE BEST!! He was fun, easy going, funny, very organized, on top of things, answers all your questions, explains everything very clearly, friendly, and on and on. He can be sarcastic sometimes in a way to be funny so just laugh and don't take it to personal. I highly reccommend him. Always do your homework in a math class =)

I've always hated math, but taking Mr. Orr was one of the best decisions I've ever made. Sure he was a little cuckoo at first but he's crystal clear, is laid back when it comes to homework, funny, and makes math class fun. I learned more math in his class than I ever did in High School. i hated math but this plump fella made it crystal clear i loved his class one of my favorite teachers unlike many teachers at grossmont he truly cares about his students the assingmnts for the class are reasonable and he gives you plenty of opportunities to pass the class...I LOVE U ORR

I couldn't believe that Michael got me through my worst subject with an A! This teacher is a genius! He's a math wizard & patient, knowing that many students find math difficult. I hadn't taken a math class for 6 years out of fear, but with enough careful lecture & spending the time to do the work, I succeeded. I couldn't have done it without him.

Best Math Prof, I've ever had. He is sincerley intersted in his students ability to achieve math. He is willing to help you untill you understand the material. After being assessed for Mathematics, Prof. Orr recommended I take a review course, and my confidence went WAY up - I'm definitely ready to tackle the level I was originally placed into, and he helped me through the entire ALEKS process, step-by-step. MAY seem 'mean', but that's just his sarcastic humor; SUPER paranoid about the computers, though!

I'm taking this class because my High School geometry is long forgotten. I'm also taking Trig, and finding the extra practice and slightly different approach helpful in making my understanding more complete. This instructor is fun, and informative. Like all Math, success is as easy as doing all the homework, but the Solutions Manual is a MUST!

Mr. Orr was the best teacher ever! he really cares about his students and i have a lot of respect for him as a teacher and a person! if you just try you will pass. its an easy class with a great teacher...take it!

Michael Orr is an awesome teacher who cares about your grade. Dont be fooled, there is a LOT of homework. I logged in over 140 hours in the math study center this semester, but he does give extra credit and take home quizes. He is funny and knows the math inside and out. will always answer questions.

I wish Mr. Orr was teaching 178 Fall '11. This professor is AMAZING!! He is beyond qualified to be teaching! Those who say there was to much HW, you can't learn w/o doing. Math is a prime ex of this. Orr really cares about his students. Take him any/every chance you get! He will NOT let you fail!! & he has the funniest sense of humor!

i would recommend this professor. he teaches very well and he is very clear. he's also really funny. the bad part is that he doesnt have office hours, its more like office minutes. very good choise for those who like math already.

He is a great teacher. He teaches kind of fast, but he will slow down if you ask. He really wants you to understand the material and get a good grade. I forgot my calculator for the final exam and he let me share with a friend.

Great instructor. Will help you as much as you need it-just ask him. He gives out extra credit left and right. Didn't even open the textbook. Just need the online homework code that you can buy from the website he provides. 9/10 instructor

Picking out a math teacher is hard work thankfully I understand the way Professor Orr teaches. He shows you the simplest way to solve the problems. He is pretty helpful, and gives out lots of extra credit. He doesnt use the textbook however doing the homework is essential to passing his class. Amazing Teacher

Mr Orr works with MyMathLab which is great. He really cares about each person and their understanding of Algebra. I highly recommend him.

Prof Orr is pretty awesome. He covered the material in a way that easy to understand and was totally willing to answer any question! He gave plenty of test reviews and even allowed a small note card for formulas. His attitude in class was always cheerful and he enjoys joking around! All in all he made math class enjoyable!

Top Notch. First Grossmont professor to actually ask students questions by name in a lecture to see if we were getting it. I can pay the highest compliment to this guy in that after I took the 103 class I wanted to continue taking more math. Expects a lot from students and gives a lot of opportunities in return. Good senseofhumor that helped a lot!

Orr is the greatest math teacher I have had in a long time. He really makes sure students understand before moving on. He teaches with powerpoint. The book was not used at all so don't buy it. He even said we didn't need it. He supplied us with handouts for sections. There were quizzes every day but they were usually take home or group quizzes.

One of the good teachers at Grossmont, I highly recommend him! I took his summer class and he gave us absolutely everything we needed to get an A. The practice exams were like the test so no surprises, explains everything, came to the tutoring center an hour early everyday to help us! Math is already hard as it is so a good teacher helps.

Mr. Orr was a great professor and recommend him to anyone. Unfortunately I didn't pass his class due to some family issues that occupied my time, but he is definitely willing to help as long as you speak up. Most of his quizzes are take home and you only get about 5 tests. He drops the lowest quiz and gives extra credit at the end of the semester.

Mr. Orr was by far my best teacher. He is extremely helpful but you have to be willing to work. He isn't just going to give you the answers but he definitely helps you in every way. Great Professor, would love to take him anytime.

He is an awesome teacher, will do anything to make sure you understand the subject. Homework is due test day and all online unlimited attempts for 100. Quiz every week WITHOUT fail on that weeks material. Gives life advice in the middle of lectures and it's actually helpful. Really cool teacher. Always allows a cheat sheet of some sort for tests.

Professor Orr is one of the best teachers I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. He's funny, helpful, inspirational, smart, and above all he knows how to teach. He cares deeply about teaching and it shows. Before this class, I barely understood algebra. Now I'm getting an A on every test. Just be prepared to do homework. It counts a lot.

I'm an A-student who struggles with math. Orr's straightforward/linear teaching style made everything come together. He takes the time to ensure that every student really gets the material, and is often available for help in the math study center. Take him if you're math-challenged & motivated to succeed- he cares about your success. I got 90%!!!

I've never liked math, but I genuinely enjoyed Mr. Orrs class. He cares about his students and he will do whatever he can to help his students succeed. Mr. Orr is very knowledgeable about math and many other things.. I learned so much from his class. I definitely recommend him!

By far the BEST professor I have had at Grossmont College. Professor Orr knows his material inside and out. Always willing to help in class and at the Math Tutoring Center. You will NOT regret taking him. You will only regret it if you don't. Definitely left me a lasting impression.

It has been awhile since I attended school, and BOY did this professor make me happy . He cracks a lot of jokes, cares about his students and their success; he will go through anything until you have an understanding of the matter. :) Definitely recommend this professor!

Amazing professor. You must come to class and do the homework or you will not pass. Works well with students and provides an extra credit packet during the end of the semester. He provides study guides for all of his exams. It's an easy A.

Very good teacher. I was able to pass with an A even though I had not taken a math class in over 10 years. The material was challenging but he explained everything thoroughly and was always willing to answer questions.

Professor Oor was such a good freaking teacher that actually cares about his students! He gives so much extra credit. If you actually show up to class, listen to his lecture on the assignments, and do your homework, you will pass with an A or B. All his study guides are exactly whats on the test. And he lets you know exactly whats on exams!

Professor Orr, made me have dreams of math. I was solving problems in my sleep, but that only meant that I was learning something. It is a good feeling to actually understand something after clarification, explanation and guidance. I can't wait to take Statistics with him. I know I will learn as I did in this class. FIVE STARS!!...

Nice guy. He teaches (in my opinion) in more of an auditory style. I however am a visual learner, so I struggled with the material. He is extremely precise about little details such as units and the right number of decimal places, and you will loose crucial points if you do it wrong. Just be cautious with your process and take your time.

I took his Quantitative Reasoning course over the intersession break. It was very intensive, but manageable. He does a great job explaining how to do the problems. Who reviews any questions students have. Plus he is an interesting guy that tells good stories during breaks. Another plus was there was no textbook required.

I honestly cannot say enough good things about this professor! He made statistics so easy to understand and kept his lectures fun & interesting! He does give out a quiz almost every class, but they're all take home quizzes & tutors are allowed to help. Lots of extra credit opportunities as well! He truly cares for his students & their success.

I took Orr for Stats over summer and he was probably the best teacher for it. He is very accessible outside of class if you have any questions. He is a very particular grader but if you follow his rules, you'll do fine. You have to put in the work to understand the material and there's a lot of EC.

Mr. Orr is an interesting guy. He can be intense sometimes but I feel it's more of a show because at the heart of it he cares about helping students understand the material. If you don't naturally understand math then his teaching style may be difficult for you, but overall he is a solid teacher and knows his stuff. Do the work and you will pass.

I have take Orr twice, if anyone knows his good and bad sides, it's me. If I paid attention, went to lectures, and studied it would've been an easy A. This upcoming semester is going to be my third time taking his class, because of my own fault. He is an amazing teacher, gets more lenient over time. This is an all on you course, so prep yourself.

He is a great professor. Very caring and always likes to joke around. he does give a lot of homework but gives you plenty of time to get it down. His teaching technique is a bit fast sometimes but he will go over anything that you need help with. It's a great thing to have groups of people from your class to do the work with.

Overall Great professor. not for the light hearted, has a sarcastic personality but is hilarious. knows what hes doing especially with covid his classes are pretty straight forward. Exams are pretty okay, requires work to be shown so be prepared.
