your lucky if you understand what he says he doest teach, he solves problems on the board and expects you to figure everything else out by your self even the mistakes he always makes
Hard to understand, makes a lot of mistakes when doing problems on the board, but very objective and lenient with grading - gives partial credit where possible.
He is good at math but he doesnt know how to explain. Makes a lot of mistakes doing problems.. you have to figure out everything by yourself, this is is really hard so make sure you find a good professor.
Ok professor. Difficult to understand. You must do the homework and practice the problems over and over. Gives simple quizzes for extra credit. Tutoring is a good idea if you are have troubling understanding him.
This is horrible. First of all you will have problems understanding him, second the guy has no clue how to teach, and third he is horrible in math. He is the first professor i had who doesnt know how to count simple math in his head. Additionally he makes at least 15 mistakes in every lesson. Worst!
Difficult to understand cuz of his accent. Pay attention to the review. His tests arent a problem but the department final is cuz ur so unprepared. Makes so many mistakes and cant add for nothin
Absolutley terrible, very inconciderate, if you don't understand and asks him to explain it again he will make you feel like an idiot. If you see him on ur first day switch classes quick! If you thought u knew a little bit about calculous he will make unlearn it quick! TERRIBLE!!!!!!
He is not able to explain the material effiently.
He is a very good teacher who is willing to make you understand before going on to new material. His reviews for exams are worthwhile and he is extremely easy going. Just remember when evaluating someone, just because he's a professor doesn't make him PERFECT!
Professor Paidoussis is very helpful. He reviews before every exam and he shows genuine interest in his students. I took his class this past spring (2005) and I got an A-. You have to work hard and go to SACC if you need additional help and I am sure you will get a good grade. Remember calculus math is no joke!
he doesn't deserve so many bad comments. sure, you have to try to understand what he's saying and it's not always clear but he tries really hard and he's very enthusiastic. he's also lenient with grading.
He is a very nice professor! He does the review before the test and drop your lowest grade from 3 quizes. it is not hard to get A.
You people are crazy. I failed calculus three times and he was the only proffessor that actually knew how to teach the material. You should see the how the rest of the staff looks and talks like. Great ppproffessor. Take him in the summer. He connects material to make it very easy for you to learn. I got an AAAAAAA. In calculus!!!!!!
As a student who was really eager to learn and hated math i got a B. if you have pre cal under ur belt u will get an A. He has an accent and a short temper but it was an unforgettable class-so many laughs. he goes fast but he does give these incredible reviews right b4 the test so its not that bad. take him-he doesnt check hw.
teachers mad cool dunno why ppl talk so much about his accent i can understand everything he says.. tries to help u in anyway he can.. schedules extra review dates for the final and gives u the midterms the day b4 w/ changed numbers. if u cant pass this class yea thats not 2 good
It's hard to find a good math professor so keep looking and don't stop here. Anyway, this professor wasn't that bad he teaches pretty fast, but he would slow down and repeat anything if you ask. He gives good reviews and the tests are similar. He didn't give a good final review I think he caught a brain fart, so study your butt off for the final.
not sure
great math prof. his accent isnt bad at all! definitly one of the best math prof at baruch..highly recommended
I failed MTH the first time around but I took Prof. Paidoussis over the summer and got an A in his class. Explains everything clearly and is available after class if you need him. Moves at a fair pace in my opinion. I was afraid of taking this again but he made everything easy and enjoyable. I recommend him!!
He's not hard...tries his best too boost your grade...the final will kill you if you don't study...It killed me...I just needed cal to get into Zicklin and thankfully i got a D+ because I thought he would fail me...
The class is not hard. The professor is very good. Do all the time the homeworks. Study for the final . You will be ok.Take him
If you're not good in math don't take him he can't explain and goes fast. He is too old!The poor thing, he constantly makes mistakes, and he says "Oh! I'm sorry!" and its literally ALL THE TIME, He is a sweet guy though, if you work hard on your own and get profesnl help you can "manage" to get an good grade on the class, if you know what I'm saying
Great professor. I failed the class and took it twice and dropped it and with him it was all good!!
A relatively nice guy, always willing to help those who need it. Good explanation skills.
good professor i took it for the first time in the summer and pass with ab keep in mind i took precal and mth 1030 twice. i hate and i only need to take this guy once
He's really nice and tries to help the students. His exams are easy if u pay attention to class. i didnt buy the book and still got through with a B. Exams are 20 m/c. The final was a bit more difficult so watch out. Ask him questions in class.
Overall a good Math Professor. He tells it like it is when explaining things and genuinely wants his students to succeed. This is a difficult subject, though, so if you don't attend regularly or study a lot outside of class you still won't do well.
Best math professor I ever had. Test problems are similar to what was explained in class. Open to questions. Will explain 20 times if you need it. Gives extra credit and wants his students to succeed.
Its my 2nd time taking 2003, so i kno that all the math teachers have to move the same fast pace. he's was much better than my last 2003 teacher- great at breaking down problems step by step, making sure you understand. still gotta study tho. hes funny, reminds me of a grandfather. if all his classes werent filled id take him for my nxt 2205 classes
He was such a great professor! This was my second time taking this course but he really tried to make the material understandable to everyone. The only thing is we never went over the final, only when I would ask questions from the packet would he answer them. His tests are a lot harder than the final. You just have to do the work and youll b good
Very helpful Professor. Third time taking calculus and he was the only Professor that made calculus seemed so easy.I even got a 100 on one of the exams. Take him if you want to pass calculusand not repeat it.
Very funny professor. Attend the class regularly. Text book is not required, just study from the final manual to get a good grade. He is always open to any questions. Work hard. His tests are a little hard.
I was never good at Math. I didn't take pre-cal, thus I was a little afraid of taking this class. I found this professor to be very helpful. The book helped understand topics better. His exams are similar to his reviews & final is similar to final review pack from SACC. I got a 90 on the final! Passed 1st time with A- for the class! Really Proud !
He is good. Calculus itself is not easy, but he helps to make it a little easier to understand. He goes in a fast pace, but you can ask him to go over any topic again. 4 tests, but drops one with the lowest grade. I think it's fair.
He has a funny accent and it might be hard to understand him sometimes, but he makes everything clear and helps if you ask. 4 exams, drops the lowest grade. Quizes on formulas for extra credit. Doesn't care if you do hw, but goes over it if you have any questions. I think it definitely worths taking him.
He was hard to understand because of the accent. He was funny but is still a hrad grader and doesnt realy care to help. Most people did well in the class but a selected few got screwed so if you want to take your chances, good luck!!
He is a great teacher. Explains the material very well and really prepares you for the final. Definately worth taking.
Professor is really good, will go through a lot of class time to make sure you understand the material. HIS reviews are a must, he tells you what will be on the exams, and will give problems that are really similar. Gives 4 tests drops lowest test grade. Also possible to push back exams if class isn't prepared. Very good professor.... Got a A
Great professor. Will do everything he can to help you learn and to get your through the difficult course material.
Took this class over the summer. Prof. was very clear. If you pay attention to his class you will do well. He puts questions on the exam that are almost identical to the review sheet. Ask questions and pay attention in class. I got over 95 on all his exams and a 100 on the final just from listening to him in class.
Amazing professor. Very thorough. He would goes over problems until everyone is on the same page. It's a bit of a slow down for those who get the material quickly, but who cares, the more review for me the better. I never even bought the book! Please take him or his wife! They are both great!!! Best math prof's Baruch has to offer by far!
He is ok, but the Baruch Math department is not ok. Check the group on facebook to see why -> http://www.facebook.com/group.php?v=wall&gid=278628104195
Great Professor! Took this class before had to drop it. Prof. Paidoussis explains in details the problems and doesn't move on until you get it. He gives you many opportunities to earn extra credit in class. As the class get there the department final he starts to speed up so you better catch up. If math is not your subject, make sure u utilize the
Be careful, you're on your own here. He is hard to understand, disorganized, he is going like 100 miles per hour without even caring what you think. Makes fun of students, don't answer to your e-mails, he doesn't follow office hours. The text book used was hard to understand, and the webwork that school provided is not the best either.
TAKE HIM!!! The best possible professor for Cal!!! 4 exams and drops the lowest score. Very clear and will not move on unless you got it. His exams are similar to his review sheets. I haven't killed myself and got A-. This guy made calculus interesting and easy. Just attend classes and pay attention.
I'm horrible at math and this was my 3rd try at this course. He was a GODSEND. I took it over the summer, 3 tests, lowest dropped, 1 extra cred quiz and final. Breaks everything down, shows you step by step and was the only reason i even passed the final. Don't buy the textbooks, you wont use it but make sure you attend class every day n have TI-89
I don't understand where all those nice comments come from. This professor is the worst ever. Goes over wasy stuff in class to prevent hard questions that he doesn't know how to answer. And when it's time for the final you will be surprised
During the semester you can sware that he is the nicest professor ever. He give extra credit. But in reality he doesn't care about your participation and midterm grades. All he counts is the final test grade. I got 90 and 94 in both midterms, however, I passed the final by 51. so reasonably you will think he will add all grades and devide them up.
He doesn't check homework. Though he explains every detail in class, i had to use the textbook a lot to understand the material. 4 tests during the semester were very easy, very identical to samples. Though the final was a total shock, i felt i'd learned almost nothing during the semester. But by some miracle i've got an A-.
Great professor took his time explaining the material until the whole class understood up to derivatives. He then sped up so he could teach us the rest of the material. Study hard and you'll do fine, watch videos on Blackboard which go over the final questions. Do HW problems and study hard and you'll do fine. If your bad at math study 15 per wk
You have to study A LOT. His tests were very difficult, but it is to your benefit because everyone at Baruch is required to pass the department final which is harder then you could ever imagine.Don't buy the textbook its horrible, watch the videos on blackboard. He is such a nice guy you will love him
the final was super hard and as expected, you have to study a lot. His test were hard and if you are not good in math you need to start being serious from the beginning it will train you hard for the final. i am glad i took him because i barely survived precal but he prepared us for the final very well. his examples were very helpful. Take him.
I did really well in his class, getting almost all A's on the tests and one C, which was dropped. However, I failed the final. Big time! I got something like a 31, and I studied an entire week.He didnt do a good enough review, and didnt show us how questions may be reworded in order to trick us. There were around 5q on the final I had never seen b4
He is very fraternal but very confusing. You will pass the class with probably good grades but never the final. This class does not answer the Math Dep challenges for the final exam so STAY AWAY or be ready to take this class again.
He is a good professor. You will learn a lot and feel comfortable in class because he is very nice, good grader, sweet, and fraternal. However, his class does not meet the Dep. challenges so you will feel in front of something completely different in front of the final. Almost all the group lost the final exam and so the class.
Professor Paidoussis helped me understand the material in a much better and simpler way! He looks at your effort and makes sure you understand everything before moving on, plus he is very nice. I got a 93 on the final and an A for the class. TAKE HIM and do ALL of the required work and you should be good.
Nice guy, but very confusing. He makes TOO many mistakes when going over problems in class. He always has to go back 3 steps to fix a prior mistake... makes it a little annoying to follow. Also, he's a careless grader when it comes to exams. He marked 3 questions on my exam wrong, when they were right. So CHECK your exams, you'll find more points.
Failed Calc twice...Third time was the charm with this professor. If you can, take Klugman..best mth prof at Baruch, hes tough though wants to REALLY make you learn it i.e, every test is cumulative..if you cant..then take Paidoussis...he'll teach you to pass the class. You prob wont get an A on the dept final, but you'll pass.
Just started taking this professor. He doesnt understand how to teach, he goes through 3-4 chapters in a signal section. His lectures and explanations are unclear. I dont understand how baruch could allow some an incompetent teacher to teach students who will ultimately fail the departmental final. DO SOMETHING BARUCH!
Prof. Paidoussis explains the basics, he does his best explaining but he doesn't have a methodical way of teaching. Don't buy the book, take good notes, do the homework and for the final study from the 2008 practice exams A through E (videos). Believe me, they are EXACTLY like the final!! Practice makes perfect and it's up to you to pass this class
I wouldn't have so much of a problem if this were based solely on the professor, but THIS COURSE IS FLAWED! Errors in the nswers of the textbook are unacceptable. No wonder I am not getting a response- the head of the math department is the publisher! BARUCH, do something about your textbook and course material!
He takes time to explain everything to students, answers all questions. He is really sweet, but his writing is terrible and messy. I like math and it was really easy for me. Takes attendance every class. He doesn't collect any of the homework, but doing all of it will benefit you in a big way. Take him!
Professor Paidoussis is very nice and helpful. He wants his students to pass so he will do anything to help his students. In order to pass, go through practice finals A-E and watch the videos provided by the school.
He gives three exams (75% of your grade) and the departmental final (25%). He gives you the option to choose whether you want to do the hw or not, however it will help your over all grade if you do. This is a self study course. I barely studied at first and got a 46, then I started studying 3 hours daily and got a 88, then a 98. STUDY ON YOUR OWN!!
no textbook necessary, but must buy code to finished homework which go with e-book. three exams, one final, and online homework. 2&3 exam hard. a no extra homework, no extra credit on test, no drop lowest test. some students dropped the class after first exam, and many students got very lower grade which affect your GPA. Runnnnnnn.
DONT TAKE HIM. He doesn't know how to explain the topic at all. He does curve at all. His lectures and exams are totally opposite. He can ruin your GPA easily.
3rd time taking this course and 3rd time was the charm. Professor may not be a native speaker but he knows what hes teaching. Exams are very easy, just study his reviews because they're close to the actual exam. For the finals, just put in time on the review manual on blackboard. Don't be a lazy fool, this course is all about you! Not the prof.
Knows the material well, but doesn't appreciate how complex Calculus (let alone Applied Calculus) can be. He'll shame you for asking to explain problems over (which he usually sprints through). There's a guidebook somewhere in the department's domain that completely saved this course for me. Probably not the worst professor, but far from the best.
You don't need the physical textbook but get the Pearson Math lab code. Doing the questions will help you practice concepts that aren't covered in class. As a professor, he has a bit of an accent and can be hard to understand. If you are a fast math learner, I'd recommend him because he covers the concepts pretty quickly.
Avoid!
Very nice guy. Makes mistakes quite frequently. Bad hand-writing. Tests are Easy but NOT multiple choice. This is good b/c of partial credit, bad because the final is significantly harder. Use the sample finals on Blackboard to study. Video solutions for every problem. Teach yourself the material. I took zero notes from his lectures.
I don't believe this professor is in any way, shape, or form passionate about teaching. He was difficult to understand (accent) and made careless mistakes -- both of which could have easily been rectified with a little more effort. Study the material in advance to avoid face-palming during lectures. Do the exercises outlined on the syllabus! Study!
if you really wanna boost your GPA, take this professor. He covers all the important aspects of the course. Attend his review session and you will pass this class. if i can get A in this class, you can! Maths is not my favorite but with the help of this professor i got an A Yayyy!
Im taking this class for the third time. But this Professor made it so easy and he is great. yeah sometimes he made mistakes, but its not major, we are all human, so not sure why some students are so critical about that. I learned so much, especially how to ACTUALLY use calculator part. He is so patient with students, I would def recommend him!!!
He is honestly a great teacher. He wants his students to pass. He gives extra points when you participate and gives extremely simple quizzes that will boost your grade. He's hilarious and adorable but he does have a heavy accident and bad hand writing.
He has horrible hand writing and goes extremely fast. He refuses to give a review sheet , but will speed through a review in class. He does answer questions but tends to make the work more complicated than it has to be. Took this for a summer class and was nothing but stress. A lot of people cheated but he gave 3 test and the final. STAY AWAY.
I can't tell if he cares if you learn or not. One sec he clearly gives no F's, and then there's the other. His handwriting is in fact horrible and if math is not your strong subject, dont take him because he does move fast. He is direct when he teaches and give you an incompetent look if you do not understand. Be prepared to study a lot on your own
soo let me tell, he makes a lot of mistakes when doing problems on the board. Otherwise he is sweet and a good teacher. Some people thought he went fast but I thought it was a good pace since he went over review sheet before tests too.
He is ok, handwriting is not really legible and not that hard to understand. If your willing to put many hours of studying you'll do ok in his class.
He is a nice and good professor who is there before and after class to answer any questions you have. Calc is not easy especially at Baruch. His hand writing is a little tough to read but it's not that hard. He goes over the review sheet before every test and he also gives a few days to review for the final
This was my third time taking this class. I couldnt have selected a better professor. He started with the easiest topic on the syllabus and the first exam was an easy A. That helped me gain confidence. He gave extra credit and dedicated 2 classes before each exam for review. You need to study hard in order to pass. Take him you wont regret it!
I took calc before and didn't pass because i was not serious about it . But when I took it for the 2nd time with this professor I was happy because he started with matrix chapter and the 1st test was based on matrix only . I suggest anyone taking him to score a good grade on 1st and 2nd exam and the third exam is kinda hard.I got 81 on the final .
To be cut and clear and open about my experience with this professor, I will describe it as unorthodox and unpredictable. On some days he will rush through topics and when I have a question, he is sometimes extremely rude to the students.
He's the most caring professor and wants his students to do well. 3 tests, but he gives good reviews sheets, which are similar to the test. If you understand the material on the review sheet, the test will be a breeze. Explains everything really well and always answeres questions outside of class and in class. Take him for a good grade.
The best Calculus professor I could wish for. Calculus is hard itself and a lot of students fail the final. But this professor will do everything he can to make you learn and to pass the tests. He can go over and over the same topic as many times as students need without getting mad. Prepare to study a lot. But it's calculus, there is nothing yo
Since half of this semester has been online, the professor has been lenient with a lot of work. He's willing to help a lot and the review sheet is very similar to the exam. He's very caring and will try to help you as much as he can. He'll explain the topics in a way that you understand. Take him for a good grade !
Gives test review written by hand (awful handwriting), unorganized (changes the approach to course multiple times), occasionally disrespectful. I'd avoid him.
People write bad things about professors when they fail, but if you take an online class, WITHDRAW if you signed up and DONT TAKE HIM. Whenever you submit a test, there's a ton of work scanning PDFs of your work and submitting it, he tells you its blurry and doesn't grade it. He gave me a 4% on an important Exam which literally sealed my fate!!
Beware! Stay away if you can. Never in my academic career have I had a professor this bad. The worst part? I registered with another professor before the semester started and he ended teaching the course. He does not care for his students, very inconsiderate. When you express a concern, his response is "OH WELL". Do yourself a favor and RUN!!!
Please please avoid if youre trying to pass or learn anything. He rushes through everything. Makes too many mistakes. Expects you to know everything. Save yourself the time.
He's very disorganized, rushes through the problems, not giving you a chance to try it yourself and makes multiple mistakes. There were several times he made mistakes on my exam where i had questions correct that he marked wrong. He's lenient with due dates on the hw but does not prepare you for the final which is cumulative and departmental.
One of the best math teacher i've seen so far. His communication with students was the best. He makes sure we understand everything before we get into the next step. He listens to our comments and tries his best to help us improve our grades in any way. He said there's pop quizzes but he actually tells us in advance so we can get ready for it.
One of the best math professors. He makes sure we understand everything before we get into the next step. He does move fast but, if you tell him to slow down he does. Take him!!! This was my second time taking cal and I passed with him. Webassign is used for MTH 2207 and theres a lot of hw dont leave it for last minute
Basically, my only passing grades were the homework since the homework helper bot on MyMathLab was the only actual "good teacher" I had in the class. This professor makes countless mistakes in his work, rushes through everything, and those 1-3 question quizzes make you drop your grade lower and lower. I couldn't take enough of him - dropped class.
This class is very difficult at Baruch. Hes a very nice professor. His teaching techniques probably dont work the same for everyone but I liked it.
he's a great professor if you pay attention in class and do all your work you will pass and be sure to ask him questions if you have any
Makes many mistakes when teaching, when a student would ask for help he would tell them to pay attention or rewrites the answer he got without going over it and would even get irritated, the quizzes are helpful but if you have an internet connection problem and cannot find a way to do them than he will not care and automatically give you a zero.GFY
I'm not sure why he has so many 5 star ratings. He was by far the WORST professor I ever had. I am a 4.0 student and he gave me an F in the course. While teaching/solving problems he makes numerous mistakes. He doesn't show you how to solve a problem he just does it. Gives random quizzes on material he "taught" 5 min ago, if you lose wifi its a 0.
