AWESOME! I've had this guy twice adn he always makes sure that everyone knows what's going on- he never leaves anyone behind who tries- and plus, we watch movies!! Whee!! He makes listening to anecdotes and etymological history in spanish, fun.

Just a great guy-- talking to him before class one day I told him I like The Who and play french horn like John Entwistle, and he made me tapes of The Who Live at Oslo. Class was fun, too-- always taught with humor.
Very good teacher as well as a great guy. I recommend him to all that have to take any Spanish class. I actually looked foward to class. He gives extra credit for each exam as well - very helpful!
Awesome teacher! He keeps his classes short, but is willing to go into *way* more depth if anyone needs help. Lots of extra credit opportunities (at least on for each test). Very fun and worth registering for.
He is an awesome teacher! He makes learing spanish fun! He gives LOTS of extra credit! TAKE HIM FOR ANY SPANISH CLASS!!!
Walks in on first day talking non-stop Spanish and more than half of his students walked out. Goes thru chapters every 2 weeks then test on them. Moves very fast and doesn't clarify things much. Great if you want to learn on your own, bad if you wanted a teacher that would help you along.
Pretty hard prof. Doesnt slow up too much and has a rule that if you dont pass all his test you dont pass his class. Prepare to do some independent study for this one.
Easy class -- just show up and do the work and memorize the vocab and you'll do well. He makes it very easy and I would have loved to take him for 102.
He is very animated, funny, and he can keep you awake! You read articles that will truly provoke your interest, and (when the sound works) the movies are pretty funny. I loved this class and will try to get into another one of his classes in the future. Awesome teacher!
Great teacher! Take his class!!!
he was pretty easy! he teaches at a fast speed sometimes, but overall he's great! tests are pretty simple, he tells you what to expect and he offers additional help if you need it! take him!
He's a cool teacher. We made jokes and had a good time in class. His teaching is ok. It's a bit fast-paced but you'll be fine cause he'll help you. The only thing is that he needs to chill out with recording absences! The class is not that serious. I'd recommend him.
I think he is the best Spanish teacher at VCU. He likes to have fun in class and is laid back but he is also a good teacher.
He was a really nice and funny teacher. I hated spanish but enjoyed his class. When I was struggling, he helped me out majorly, letting me retake an exam I failed. You couldn't ask for more in a teacher.
By far the best professor I have ever had. I took him every chance I got and will continue to do so. He is so helpful and easy to go to if you have questions.
Adorable.
I had him for art history, great professor, makes things I was previously uninterested in interesting.
Put things on tests that were NOT covered in class, or in the text, but he expected you to know it. I do not reccomend.
hes one of those old guys who thinks hes still young, which is kinda funny to watch at least! the class was easy if you like art history, otherwise i don't recommend because of all the memorization.
He is hot for a professor.
he makes things really fun and easy to understand. i recommend him to anyone who needs to take spanish 101.
He is a really funny guy and he tells you a lot of funny stories. He is a laid back guy and is always looking for a good laugh. He presents the material really well, and he really prepares you for the tests. Come to class and you will do fine, and have a lilttle fun.
Sr. Panbehchi was an awesome teacher! Many people in my class are extremely shy about speaking in Spanish, and he was very reassuring about it. I would definitely recommend him! He is funny and odd in a very entertaining way. You will lose participation points, though, if you don't show up to class. But he's seriously an amazing Spanish teacher!
AMAZING teacher if you dont take him you are crazy he is unbeleivably helpful and so precious!!!
I changed my schedule just so I could be in his Survey of Western Art class. Completely worth it, I'll never look at art history the same way again. He's very down-to-earth and easy to understand, and as long as you memorize the material (which he is very clear about) you'll do great on his tests.
take his course!
This guy is awesome. Even if you are horrible at foreign languages he gives so much extra credit its ridiculous. take him.
Mr. Panbehchi is the man! He's probably the best Art History teacher at VCU. His class is a lecture class and he's really good about keeping your attention with his witty comments and funny end of slide show pictures. His class is taught around lectures with slide shows. The exams are easy. read the chapters & you're golden!
Senor Panbehchi es el hombre!
Dr. Panbehchi is a great spanish teacher! He'll answer any questions. He has a list of students in the class that uses to call on for participation but stresses in the beginning of the semester that he doesn't want you to be afraid of not knowing the answer.I am shy and he made it easy for me to talk in class. Very lenient about attendance!
Panbehchi is the best art history professor. he cracks me up and his slides are so funny. hands down most entertaining art history class
he is not easy but not hard, must attend class otherwise he does notice. gives homework every class but it is for you to understand the material. Test comes straight from readings and topics discussed in class. there are also two papers assigned beside test.
The professor is a great Spanish speaker. Sometimes he speaks too quickly, but is very nice about helping. His exams are hard.
He is very nice & his tests are super easy! Go to class & study the textbook; you don't even really need to take notes. He sometimes goes a bit fast so if you aren't a quick learner you may want to take someone else. LOVED him!
Prof. Panbechi is awesome. A totally nice dude, funny, and always willing to answer questions. He seems genuinely passionate about teaching and about the subjects he teaches. A great person and a great friend.
I absolutely loved him! It was the first time he taught the course, despite this, it didn't feel that way. The amount of knowledge he has about Latin American civilization, culture, and art is amazing. He ALWAYS had relevant real-life stories, every class. It was so cool & I learned so much. Definitely recommend him! Very interesting/knowledgable.
Professor Panbehchi is really cool. There's no online homework, and hardly any homework in general. His style of teaching really improved my Spanish because he taught us techniques for understanding the language. I always thought I was bad at Spanish until I realized (from this class) that I was going about it the wrong way.
Mr. Panbehchi is by far the best professor I've ever had. He is extremely intelligent and explains all the topics very clearly. Before a test, he would always have a lecture class and a review/outline class that made studying for the test a million times easier. The exam wasn't difficult and he's always willing to help. 10/10 recommend!!
I don't feel overjoyed about his class but it didn't bother me either. I really felt like I didn't learn that much and he is VERY unclear about expectations and will zip them out really fast and then dismiss class.
My favorite Spanish teacher ever. I've taken every opportunity to take class with him if he's teaching it. He can get unclear about assignments but if you ask he'll explain in English. Really laid back and understanding. Absolutely recommend!
He is truly one of my favorite professors at VCU by far! He is so fun and interesting. He makes the Spanish language user-friendly and easy to learn for those who are first-time takers. I honestly would recommend him to anyone! Overall, such an intellectual, enthusiastic, and humorous person! I am positive you will LOVE him! Gives extra credit!
Prof. Panbehchi is definitely the best Spanish professor there is at VCU. Expect intense classes, if you are taking this class to do anything other than learn the language don't take it. It's very immersive and you will learn. He is such a good motivator and really knows what he is doing.
I respect Professor Panbehchi very much, however I did not understand his teaching style. The class was very fast paced and there were no notes except what you had time to scribble down during a lecture. He is very passionate about what he teaches, and that grabbed my attention, however in the end it was too fast paced for me.
Loved him! I took his class over the summer, and didn't miss one. If you miss a class, you'll be lost. Clearly defines exactly what the test is gonna be & is extremely open to any and all questions & repeating himself. Textbook required bc its all your homework- which you will frequently have. (mostly just for practice!)
He is a nice guy, he didn't take attendance so that was nice. We had four tests that were all online, and he makes them straightforward. His lectures are straight from the book, and all his powerpoints are online. His lectures are long, I took a 3hr one, but he usually lets you out early. He also has image lists for the tests.
I LOVED Mike! So sad I couldn't take him for my other art history class. He's fantastic, funny, and learned so much even though it was a 3 hour class. I always came up to him at the end of class to ask about things in the lecture. He gives an extra credit paper if you need it. Overall fantastic! You will not regret taking him!
Panbehchi is very relaxed, funny, and sarcastic! Sometimes the material is boring and dry but he always makes it interesting. Basically write everything he says down that seems important and you'll be fine. Get the textbook, and all the tests are online so that's nice. Take him if you can! He also lets out class early when possible.
Prof. Panbehchi was a wonderful instructor with a great personality. The class itself was very interesting, especially the architecture sections. I would definitely recommend this course to friends. It's also a very easy A as the tests are open notes.
Easy online open book tests, kind of long lectures (7-9:40) but he tries to keep it as interesting as possible, used the book for the test so if you can get it I definitely recommend it. It's possible to pass the class with just google too
Not a terrible professor, but probably my least favorite. His lecture style is extremely fast with no notes involved in his lectures- so if you don't show up or don't catch something while in class, you're pretty much screwed. His tests are very dense and detailed. Take this course only if you're REALLY interesting in learning about this subject.
He was awesome, I had his class from 7-9:45 and he managed to make it interesting and keep things lighthearted despite the fact we we're all exhausted. He keeps things easy going and tends to gauge how the class is feeling during a lecture. Very clear, take lecture notes and his tests will be a breeze.
This class is based solely on the textbook. If you don't show up to class, it's easy to just read the chapter. THE TESTS ARE ONLINE AND AT YOUR LEISURE! Also, the textbook is super expensive so if you don't want to buy it, just go to class and take notes.
Professor Panbehchi is one of my favorites. He has a wonderful dry sense of humor and his lectures are incredibly interesting. That being said, you have to take very detailed notes to do well in this class, as his class is entirely lecture based. If you do this though, you will get As on his tests because they are all open note online.
So boring, goes through the sides way too fast, and he's not hot at all why did someone put a pepper lol
Prof Panbehchi made me love Art history! Only took this class for an art credit and I'm so glad I did. He's super passionate about what he is teaching which makes the class a lot more interesting. 10/10 would take his class again
I Loved this class! He tells you exactly what you need to know, he is hilarious, gives you lots of breaks, and is just an all-around great teacher.
Panbehchi is a great professor! He's funny and really into the subject. Take really good notes in class, and then use them for the open note tests.
I took Professor Panbehchi for granted. He is such a good professor and he knows his stuff! If you want to skip the class its easy but his lectures prove to be extremely useful for the tests since there is so much info. You only have 4 online tests so thats not the most comforting thing but if you read and listen the class shouldn't be too hard
He is wonderful!! He has humor!!! He is very engaging towards his students, I would definitely take him again.
He is honestly my favorite professor at VCU. I enjoyed his class, he was very clear about what he expected you to show in your exams and papers. His lectures were awesome, definitely read the textbook though. He explained everything clearly and was very flexible when it came to dates when papers and exams were. He clearly cares about his students.
Extremely knowledgable and passionate about art history. Teaches exclusively through lectures and although the powerpoints are online he adds a lot of important information during the class so it's a good idea to go to class. Read the textbook. Very funny.
I was dreading art history honestly, but I'm so glad I took this class. I learned a lot, he's hilarious and lectures were never boring even though he apologized a lot for it being dry or lecture-heavy. Pay attention to the lectures and you'll pass the exams, though there is a lot of info covered.
Lectures and online tests. I go to every class and take notes and the highest test grade I've gotten is a 90. These tests are hard, there always seems to be stuff on them that he never went over in class. STUDY before you take them. You can google as you go, but some of the questions are not on the internet, & you'll run out of test time looking.
Super nice and this class was easy. All our exams except for the final were outside of class.
Graded on only four tests. They are very accessible and straightforward online tests. Lectures are good and enriching and funny enough that you want to go to class, even if it won't hurt you to not go to a few.
Panbehchi's really chill and has a lot of hidden jokes in his lectures that are worth listening for. Entire grade was made up of 4 tests (25% each) which is a little scary, but they are online and take home so they aren't hard to pass.
WORST professor EVER! Lectures have 0 relevance to the 4 50 question M/C & T/F online exams. Only ONE hour for impossibly difficult exams! Took this class as a fun GenEd; it is harder than all of my pre-med Science classes. Exams full of typos on difficult names, making it impossible to search 500 pages of book + 350 ppt. AVOID HIM! SAVE YOUR GPA!!
Panbehchi was an amazing professor to have for my first semester at college. His lectures were super fast paced, but never boring. He's a funny guy, but doesn't try to hard. He gets that it's a 100 level, but still makes it worth your time. The tests weren't bad if you write good notes, and if you go to class, reading the textbook isn't necessary.
I went to class until the first exam. I got an A on the exam and realized it was so easy. I started not going to class at all and still ended up with an A. Dont buy the expensive book. most of the things you need is said in class or free online . Going to class will make the test a lot easier but overall great teacher and great class material.
Graded only on four online exams. They're about 60 minutes each. Just go to lecture and write down majority of what he says, and you'll get A's on all your exams. Since it's online, you can use the powerpoints, textbook, google, etc. He also gives an image list (a study guide), that helps a lot. It's an easy A as long as you show up and take notes.
go to class, itll make it easier on you. I didnt go and passed with a 90% flat. But majority of students who dont go get a B so I got lucky. Just get an A in this class, its not much work. EXAMS ARE ONLINE/TAKE HOME. use those notes, and write them in detail as possible. I'd recommend to try to take a different art credit bc hes a dry teacher
Go to class, the material on the test comes only from his lectures. I did not open the textbook ONCE the whole semester and finished with a 98. However, I am a very good note taker and it wasn't an easy A, as other classes may be. Talks fast and sometimes it is difficult to discern what is pertinent and what is superfluous information.
amazing human being. His lectures are interesting and he tries to make it enjoyable. Tests are online and he will work with you if you have a bad grade.
This class was my simplest, least-stressful class. Show up to lectures, take notes, and you'll do fine on the 4 online exams. He is fast and sometimes hard to keep up with, but he will emphasize the things on the exams and tells you that you need to know them. He also tells you what you don't need to know (hint: he'll say "that's fine", you'll see)
The grades are only based on 4 tests, but they're not hard as long as you pay attention in class. His lectures are interesting!
Really awesome Professor with amazing lectures. Not being an art major I wasn't looking forward to having to take an art class, but he made it fun and worthwhile! I loved the class location and every lecture was interesting and he's also hilarious! Easy 4 tests (online), making for an easy A!
Your grade is determined by 4 exams (25% each). That being said, they are all online and they are open note. You shouldn't have too hard a time in his class and his lectures are generally interesting.
Really nice and funny guy, really enjoyed his lectures, completely changed my view of Art History. Textbook could be useful but I didn't need it and got an A. Take really good notes from lectures & copy everything from the powerpoints, he doesn't share his notes. He is available outside class. only grades are 4 online exams. (very easy w/ notes)
Dr. Pancehchi is hilarious and passionate about the subject. He's lectures are all you need to pass the class, so make sure to show up to class and pay attention. He only grades with 4 tests, yet they are all online and open book, so they are usually easy A's. Also DO NOT BUY THE BOOK. Tests are on lectures, not the book!
Panbechi is an awesome and passionate dude. Even if art history isnt your thing youll enjoy it. Go to class and write good notes on the powerpoints AND what he says. 4 total online tests, if you took your notes well its an easy A. No final. Give him a try!
Lectures are the tests. Take lots of notes. He's a professor that teaches a subject that he's passionate about and has spent a lot of free time exploring. Beware of missing any tests, there is only 4 and you're going to want detailed notes. Super interesting class thought I would hate it but ended up being one of my favorites. No textbook needed!
Took ARTH103 online; the three week version. Honestly one of the easiest classes I've taken; the quizzes and exams were straightforward and online. Definitely one of the best classes to take over the summer to get it out of the way for people trying to fill the Art req.
Panbehchi is hilarious and you can tell he is invested in what he teaches. He doesn't take attendance but it is in your best interest to attend as his lectures don't have any information just pictures. You have to do online quizzes which are kinda annoying. The exams are online and at home and super easy if you review the textbook and image list
Dr. Panbehchi is awesome, I really enjoyed his class. Even though lectures are pretty boring, you can tell how knowledgable he is about art history which, for me at least, makes the class more interesting. He can talk fast sometimes so just be prepared to be writing notes the entire lecture. Quizzes and exams were all online
He is extremely enthusiastic about what he is teaching. I heard you don't have to show up, but I always did. The quizzes are online, and some of them are word for word on Quizlet. I hated history until I went to this class. Great professor, great class.
Really laid back and willing to work with you.
Definitely a class for Art Majors only, so beware if you look into this as an elective. Very interesting professor who is knowledgable in the field, but attendance is not mandatory if you would rather read the text from home. He is a great guy during office hours and is willing to work with you, but he is a tough grader on tests.
I took this class for my Fine art, expecting it to be an Easy A. This class was harder than my core Biology classes, I wouldn't recommend it. I attend every class and took great notes, his tests seem foreign compared to whats mentioned In class. 4 50 Q exams, and 20 quizzes. Find another fine art that won't take up so much of your time.
The lectures were kind of boring, but his sense of humor would come out at some points. the online textbook was like 100 dollars and you had to buy it in order to take the 20 chapter quizzes (and the chapters could be very long). All the exams are online which is nice.
Cool guy, EXTREMELY boring lectures to the point where I fell asleep and never came back. His class is a filler class really. Exams taken from home and textbook required to take the chapter quizzes. Uploads all notes online. Hes really cool, kinda witty, and is really passionate about his subject. Easy class, take it if you need a fine art credit.
Worst professor I have ever had. He doesn't care about his students nor their grades. He doesn't really teach you have to look at the textbook for everything which has hundreds of images and you are tested on images and the text. Test are worth 75% 5o questions 1 hour and are very hard. Good luck if you take this class you are going to need it.
The class was pretty time consuming overall, lectures were required to watch for exams. Most exam questions were based off of the lectures, not the textbook, but I really had to copy down every single thing he said during the lectures for the tests. 4 exams, 20 quizzes. Quizzes were only based on textbook. Drops lowest quiz and test grades.
It's all textbook based. I learned nothing. His exams are hard and intensive so be prepared to shed a few tears if you fail one because it will drop your grade easily.
If you find Art History interesting, you'll enjoy this class! Attendance isn't mandatory but if you don't go to the lectures, you're probably not going to pass the tests. I never bought the textbook but show up to every class and take extensive notes and I've gotten As on all the tests so far.
I loved taking this class with Michael as my professor! He always made sure to put up the online slides/ voice threads once we finished a unit test. You would also get 2-3 days to take an exam, it was really nice, especially since my schedule was super hetic.
I can't recommend Professor Panbehchi enough. His lectures are insightful, and it's evident he enjoys what he teaches. The class was comprised of tests and quizzes, though there was an optional extra credit paper. The lowest test and quiz grades were dropped. There was a textbook, but, if you pay attention to the lectures, you'll be ok without it.
His ARTH103 is fully lecture-based, with 4 online tests making up your entire grade. While this may not be everybody's ideal class structure, I personally loved having almost no homework. The tests aren't difficult as long as you take notes during lectures. Michael is laid-back and nice, and his approach is very hands-off.
He is very passionate about art history, test are a little confusing but they are open book look out for the small fun facts that seem not important. He makes a list of all the images that you will be tested on which is very helpful and a great resource to study. You can really tell he loves art history you'll learn a lot.
His lectures are great and he's very kind. I would not take his course again only because of the way he grades. The only things that are graded are 4 exams. Not my kinda class.
Mike is great, he posts all the lectures online if you don't come in person. Your only grades are 4 exams, he doesn't believe in hw. Just take your notes and work with a group to take the exams, he encourages it. Super easy class and he's a very smart man who knows a lot. Taking him again next semester!
I don't like history but Michael was a very enjoyable teacher. He was funny and would point out important parts of the lectures that would be on the exams. We were only graded on exams throughout the semester and they can be very hard if you don't study. Not the easiest course but Michael made it very enjoyable.
Amazing professor. Super understanding and always available. Always answers emails fast. Does not give any homework. Only thing in the grade book are tests which are all online and taken outside of class. If you take notes during class you will do well on tests. Attendance does not count and he also posts every lecture online.
prof panbehchi is awesome! although we were in person, he also posted the lectures to canvas, so if you had to miss or class was cancelled, the material is still accessible. he only has 4 tests, so there's never homework, but make sure your notes are extensive!
Tests are open notes, and he understands that many people take the class for AFO credit. he is still passionate about the subject and provides valuable lectures. very chill.
Amazing teacher! Wish I could take him again. Attendance for his lectures is not mandatory, as most of his teachings are posted online. He makes learning very fun and interesting, occasionally adding in jokes. This class consists of 4 tests throughout the semester, they are also open note. Easy to pass if you take a lot of good notes.
I enjoyed Professor Panbehchi's class, but I did find that some of the test questions were very specific and not really related to the lecture. There were also a few questions that were not discussed in class at all. Going to lectures was not mandatory and you could get by in the class if you just watched Voicethreads he put up.
took prof panbehchi for a second time, and he is great. going to class can be flexible as he doesn't take attendance and posts most things online, which helps a lot of people. he is super funny but informative and i loved his classes
Michael is a fantastic teacher, I've taken 3 of his classes. In 300's there are few voicethreads, if you want a good grade you need to show up & take a lot of notes. He loves what he teaches and is happy to discuss/answer questions. Take his class!
I loved this class, he gives enjoyable lectures. Your grade is determined 100% by four exams, everything in the exam is covered in the lectures. Don't buy the textbook, unless you plan on missing class a lot.
Took ARTH 103 + 104 over the summer online with him and it was really straightforward and easy. Online textbook is a must and there are 3-4 tests per class over the 3 week summer class. Each test is several chapters but is very manageable. .
I love Mike. He makes the class just as easy as it needs to be, everything you need to know for the test in the lectures. Just write everything he says down and you will be fine. He has all his lectures online too if you miss a class. Great class.
Such a character, his anecdotes during lectures make this class very engaging. At the same time he is very laid back and chill, so I didn't mind having him early in the day. The 4 tests are very tedious and specific when it comes to their questions, but if you are able to search for key words in the textbook or take thorough notes you'll do fine.
Enjoyable lectures. The only assignments are four open note exams. Go to all the lectures, take thorough notes and you will be fine. He says you need to read the textbook but I found it online and used it to look up any questions I didn't know and I was fine.
His lectures are awesome. You only have to do the 4 open exams, and if you pay attention on his class and read the lectures he give you, you will do fine.
Great lectures; super informative and funny. If you're taking his art history courses, make sure you're taking notes with pictures of anything he shows you. He's pretty good about telling you when something is gonna be on the test, so take note of that too. Doesn't usually use text on his slides, so you have to be able to actively listen.
Very passionate and knowledgeable! I took 338 and loved it. However, I would not rec if you're not an ARTH major or very interested in the topic. The lectures are heavy and he moves fast. He grades the exams very tough and late and doesn't provide clear expectations for the 1st one. Do not expect an easy elective!!
LOVE Mike! I took Survey of Art 1 and 2 with him, and I am going back for more next semester with ARTH338. He is by far my favorite professor I have had - passionate about his subject, funny, personable, and very knowledgeable. The exams are very simple, and he has online versions of every lecture so you can make up anything you miss.
His classes were interesting, he had 4 tests throughout the semester, open-note. If you take good notes you'll pass. For some lectures he has them posted on Canvas too, so if I my mind wandered while he was talking about a specific piece I would go back to the lecture on Canvas and re-listen.
Take the class of you want a passion driven teacher. Know that his lectures are great but heavy and fast paced. No time to linger on questions. You don't have to read the textbook. Just do it. You'll understand the context better than showing up for class. Most lectures are on slides available on canvas but be aware that he might teach out of order
He is a very fun professor and his exams are very easy. He does recommend buying the textbook initially, however you don't need it to pass the class. If you miss a lecture, or multiple lectures you will still find it easy to pass. He is a silly little guy and I really enjoyed his class.
Mike is a pretty chill professor. His lectures include a lot of material, so it's important to take notes and read the textbook for the tests. The tests are fine, as long as you study.
Super funny guy; his lectures were very entertaining and he clearly loves art history. Sometimes he'd lecture really fast so. The textbook is required and is pricey, but I didn't really use it during the course because he has the lectures online and voiced-over. Very exam heavy, no homework.
Michael Panbehchi is definitely one of my favorite professors so far. He obviously knows what he is talking about and is passionate to pass this knowledge to his students. While there are only four, fifty question exams, they were not difficult. He teaches good, funny lectures that are very captivating. Open to help students in any way he can!
