Great teacher, fun class!
Michael is a great professor! He's funny, honest, smart, and down to earth.
Very great, funny teacher. One of the only classes ive really loved to attend.
This is the worst instructor. He is arrogant and talks down to students. He does not understand the material at all.
Disregard comment below this one - sounds like a disgruntled student who didn't get his/her way. Mike is a fantastic teacher who challenges his students.
I've had three truely great teachers while in the CIS program. Passalaqua, Quinn, and Huffman. If you can take any of them do it. The only problem is it's frustrating dealing with your other teachers after knowing what a great teacher can be like.
Michael is a great teacher. He is helpful and works with the mood of the class. He is willing to help and explain the work in and out of class. Once you have taken his class you will not want to take anyone else's computer class.
THE best programing teacher i ever had. He KNOWS what he's teaching about!!!! He is one of the funnyest teacher. He gives good assignmenst. I took his class 2 years ago, and I still remember his name and how good he was. I can just hope for a good teacher like him.
The instructor really new what he was teaching, and taught it well.
I have never had a teacher before the would stop a lecture just to make sure that every student in class understood the information that they were teaching. He also has a way of creating a fun learning environment that makes you want to show up to every class.
He's cool :D
The way he taught this class made me want to go on and take additional cis classes with more confidence because the way he explained what we were learning in plain english meaning that if he used a term that we might not understand he took the time to explain it.
Michael is a great instructor, who knows his material very well. He inspired me to start a degree in higher technology. If you have the privelage to take his class you will definately see the difference in michael as a good teacher compared to most others.
Awesome teacher. Will make sure you understand. Very flexible with homework. Makes clas fun, which is a rare thing these days. Did I mention he was sexy?
The teacher made the class easy to be understood, and I feel that I learned a lot about programming and logical thinking .I did have a lot of fun.
easy class, excellent at conveying his thoughts to the students. great teacher, highly recommended!
Excellent teacher. He is always interested in making sure the class understands the material instead of just putting the material out. Very knowledgable.
Excellent Instructor. Able to take complex idears and make them easy to understand
Is the best teacher I have ever had. Made me enjoy the class.
Great teacher, he genuinely cares about how well a student "gets" the subject. He is unconventional, and effective.
he's a great teacher I ever met. I am Business Major now but I was CS before. If I met him earlier I may keep going CS...anyway he's a great teacher
He is a wonderful and very flexble teacher. I always enjoy taking his class. He has a good sence of humor. I like Mike =)
Very good teacher. I learned a lot from him, and he was very clear. A++ for him.
Mike is a great teacher. He is very dedicated to making sure his students understand the material he teaches. He is very knowledgeable on the subject of software design. I enjoyed his class alot I would encourage anyone to take a class from him. :)
He is the ultimate teacher for computer science. PCC will be out of business if they don't have Michael Passalacqua. He's a professional on what he does. And most important of all, he loves to help out the others to learn better. He devote himself entirely to students. Which is what we just need ^^.
Amazingly funny, clear, and helpful. Keeps the fairly boring subject matter interesting and exciting. Cool guy and great teacher!

This guy is a riot!! He has a great teaching style and is a lot of fun!!
Michael is an excellent teacher. Worked as a software engineering for 25 years, so he really knows what he's talking about and also how to explain it in a simple way with good examples. Awesome teacher! I would definitely take more classess from him.
What a fun class. Mike obviously knows what he's talking about, and has a great sense of humor. Makes himself available for questions, and has a lot of patience with slower learners. Kind of quirky, and that's a good thing.
Best programing teacher EVER!I wish i could take more classes from him.
I am taking Michael's class online and have never met him, but his personality really shines through his course materials anyway. I would definitely recommend him to others.
awsome
Never taken a CS class before and thanks to Michael i will take many others. He all look accessible to even the most unexperienced. He is knows what he is talking about, he is funny, witty and very kind to answer even the most obvious questions. I don't know why he has zero hotness, as far as im concerned he is one hot teacher!take all his classes!
He is the best fun and nice thank you
Passalaqua, not only is a cool last name, but definitely is the last name to one of the best teachers I have had so far at PCC. Highly recommended.
Hope most of the professors like him - makes complicate knowledge simple to learn. Thank you Michael, I really enjoy your class!
he was a very fun teacher who really knew what he was teaching and wants to be teaching it
Intro to Javascript. Difficult subject made understandable, doable, and even enjoyable with instructors over the top interest in what he is teaching and his refreshing humor.
I learned.
He is great, lots of real world advice. Very highly recommended.
Absolutely a great teacher, especially for those of us who have a lot of questions. He knows his stuff and has relevant information. He fills in loads of stuff that the book leaves out. If you take his class, you'll have fun. I plan to take more classes from him.
One of the best computer teachers I have ever had! He is awesome!
He is real, the best teacher i've ever had (css-299) and stress-free environment. So funny, made me **** in my pants... Highly recommended. Guaranteed you understand. Teaching is not his job, it's his passions. Thank You Boss
awsome
Michael is the greatest Prof I've ever had! He has such a gift to teach in a way that is encouraging and inspiring. He cares about his students and has a great sense of humor. Loved his class and definitely taking him again :)
I really enjoyed Michael's class. He's a great teacher, engaging, funny and knowledgeable. I learned a lot in the class. The book that is used is not very helpful for retaining the info. You learn the most when you have assignments where you create web pages from scratch. Wish I could take his CSS next term but he's not teaching it.
He made the subject very clear. I wish he was teaching more web classes (on site). He was able to answer every question and went out of his way to find a solution. I am a professional in the computer industry for 40 years and I felt he knows computer very well. I felt very fortunate to be one of his students.
He clarified the lessons. It is more understandable.
Prof. Passalacqua, Can teach. His depth of knowledge in Code languages is his strong area. He makes the hard subject of programming fun, and give his students a good fundation to build on. Passalacqua makes the hard parts of javaScript and HTLM understandable in the many short lab exercises you will get in the class.Great man.
Not only extremely knowledgeable and helpful, but lots of fun also. Always willing to stop and explain and never made me feel like my questions were stupid. Wish I could continue with more classes. Don't think any other teacher could have taught me as much in this length of time.
Very helpful. Very knowledgeable. Definitely kept the classroom interesting. Allowed optional classroom attendance, but warned that if the end grade was less than an "A" it would be caused by lack of knowledge because of not being able to ask questions easily in a one-on-one setting. Overall, definitely an instructor I would love to have again!
Very nice, fair, understanding and helpful. Was up front about class material, attendance and workload. The first day of class he told us: "If you do the work, you'll get an A."
excellent teacher, VERY fun! I am actually taking his CSS class in the fall.
By far my favorite teacher. I look forward to each class. Passalaqua makes learning complicated stuff fun. Also, he is extremely hot!
Micheal is easy going, and is more worried about students understanding the material than the associated grade. He explains things in a crystal clear details and wants to answer questions, in fact, he thrives off them. Highly recommended for any class.
Micheal is always fun to have up in front of class. He is very knowledgeable and open to new ways at looking at a problem. He definitely encourages one to think.
I learned more than I thought I would and had more fun than I thought you could have in a class. Plus he's hot!
Covered the topic thoroughly. Invited student questions and answered them in great detail. Provided very useful information for future web developers. Helped students with their own pages.
its been a big pleasure for me to be one of your students this term. i have seen my skills climbing up from zero knowledge in web Design, to medium level. thank you so much Mr Passalaqua!
very articulate, knows a lot about his field of work. Can get political and off subject, but in a good way.
Helpful, fun, will be taking other classes with him most definatly
I was amazed at his patience with the students who had clearly came to class unprepared. He answered their questions but was able to keep the class on track and we finished the semester ahead. He is extremely knowledgeable about the web and all software
wonderful
Very helpful. He gave us real world view of the strengths and weaknesses of Dreamweaver. I'll be a much better web developer because of his input.
Michael Passalacqua is an entertaining speaker. He knows HTML, Java script, CSS, web site industry. He responded to students' questions. Students liked being able to pick his brain. He was able to work with wide gaps of levels. Fun. I am so motivated to learn web design. He made it fun.
Class difficulty is what you'd expect from an online excel class: easy. Graded homework/quizzes/tests. Work is actually looked at and you'll get docked points for mistakes. Overall good professor.
Professional, fun.
He's very knowledgeable and easy to learn.
Great teacher. Very easy to learn from. He taught many things that were not in the book, real world information. I highly recommend taking his on-campus classes. He creates a fun learning environment in his classroom.
Very funny and easy going teacher. Love how he gets off track sometimes and rambles on about random things but stuff still get taught at the end of the day. Very knowledgeable in his field and always looking forward to his class. GOOD JOB
Michael taught above and beyond what the course was supposed to be. He truly cares about what his students are being taught and that they are prepared for the real world. His lectures were easy to follow and understand ? also entertaining at times. His lessons and lectures actually helped me understand and do better in my other similar classes.
might as well take the course online. Passalacqua is a decent teacher, but every exercise is straight from a dreamweaver book. Self teaching would be way more fun than this guy. No originality until the final project. Passalacqua = creativity killer
It has been one of the best terms I have taken. Michael is an extremely knowledgeable person, always willing to share his professional experience with his class. He teaches us "how to fish" instead of "giving us the fish" which is a lot more than some other professors will do. Looking forward to taking another class with him.
Excellent and instructing quality teacher, he taught exceeding what the course was supposed to be. I highly recommend taking his on-campus classes.
Michael is an amazing teacher! Hilarious, caring and knowledgeable. I got a lot from his CSS course, and will do what I can to take Javascript with him as well.
Finally a great teacher in Web Development. I don't think I missed a day of class because the way he taught was so fun and interesting. This is what a professor should be about. Extremely knowledgeable with a great teaching style. Looking forward to more classes with him in the future.
Con: Tends to let his political views color his examples and discussions. Pro: Knows the subject cold! This class was fun and just the right amount of challenge. Mike will go the extra mile for you if you make the effort. I honestly looked forward to attending each class.
Michael is that rare professor who knows that learning and fun are not mutually exclusive. He taught what is important in the real working world rather than what educational bureaucrats think should be taught to in order to promote their own agenda. He truly has the best interests of his students in mind. I recommend taking any class he teaches.
Thus it is the teaching of the noble man is metaphorical. It leads but does not drag, is strong but does not force, and it starts you off but does not take you all the way... Anything that makes you think while in the state of harmony and ease can be said to be the best of all metaphors.
Great teacher, very funny. Able to incorporate personal stories with lessons to keep atmosphere upbeat. Great sense of humor.
Michael is one of the best teachers at PCC. If I could choose to have one teacher teach all the CAS and CIS classes, it would be him.
Best teacher I ever had at PCC. Wish I could put him in my pocket. He really knows his stuff and is extremely helpful.
Michael is one of the only teachers I've had in my 5 terms at PCC that genuinely has passion about his subject. He loves to talk world issues at the beginning of class, so just roll with it and have a good time. You'll learn more in his classes than with any other teacher in the department. Highly recommended.
Great teacher. Really believes in teaching the real world ways. His extensive programming background shows in his desire to have his students learn the correct way.
He is an awesome teacher. I learned so much from him in his Dreamweaver class (which he totally taught us how to write in code) and in his CSS class. I appreciate his real life experience he brings to the class. He is update to date with the most current aspects of the CSS and web development world. Really, he is awesome!
This class helped me with a better understanding of real world of coding & made me like CSS more then the old drag/drop Dreamweaver. Michael is professional, helpful and hopefully will come back teaching advanced Css coding. I have never know someone with so much experience, knowledge and way to have fun. He's best teacher I've had at PCC!!!!
Amazing Instructor! Keeps a great balance between having fun and getting down to business. Love his honesty and real world approach. Very knowledgeable in his field and stays current on all new topics. Highly recommended!
Michael has a gift for teaching and enjoys sharing his real-world insights with students. He goes out of his way to make sure everyone understands, and his assignments are challenging?in a good way. It's also cool how he encourages students to interact and get to know each other. His upcoming sabbatical is a huge loss for PCC. Hope he comes back!
Michael raises the bar for any instructor in the CAS or CIS department at PCC. He is honest, real, and really cares about the success of his students. He incorporates real life examples of CSS versus cookie-cutter textbook examples because that's how you make money in the real world. Thanks for all your taught me MP!!!
Michael brings a strong pro background along with a great student-focused teaching style. There's always room for questions, and he always supplies an answer in a way you can get your head around. He makes sure you understand before moving on. Somehow he manages to energize the classroom and engage us in a way I have not experienced elsewhere. A+
Michael is very good about teaching above and beyond the limits of the prescribed course and is clear and concise. I learned more in the two courses I've taken with him that I expected.
A guy who had a clear sense of humor, was easy to work with, and knew what he was talking about at the same time. Made you pay attention to what he said.
Michael was probably one of the best teachers I have had so far. Everything was easily understood in class. Though his assignments tested your skills. My tip is to FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS TO THE LETTER!
Michael is one of the very best instructors of all the PCC campuses. Anyone attending his classes are very lucky to have him as their instructor.
Michael has a great way of making a hard subject easier to learn. His very candid and open demeanor makes him easy to get along with and approachable for help. I had Michael for 3 terms, and if I wasn't graduating, would have him more! He is a pleasure to be around and more than that -- a great teacher!!
Great teacher with a gift for entertaining lecture and making hard concepts easy. Took lots of time and effort to make sure we had the 'solid foundation' to build upon. Very organized with extraordinarily high quality written notes and lecture materials. Truly a remarkable teacher who cares deeply about the success of his students. A+ for MP!
Best professor I've ever had.
Michael Passalacqua has a rare gift for turning a highly technical material into an informative, in-depth comedy routine. If you have an opportunity to take a course from this man, you will laugh, you will learn, and you will be amazed at your own level of growth as a programmer upon finishing his course.
This teacher has such a great attitude and is willing to help any of his students hands down. You just have to ask for it. He wants you to do good in this class. He always asks if you are getting it, that if you are not he can help you get it. I would and will recommend him to other students and all of you reading this RMP.
really helpful, funny. he gives you chances to get extra credit. easy A if you take it seriously and full attendance
I had only limited knowledge of XHTML before this class, which turns out not to be useful for intro to programming. I felt challenged on every assignment but always felt great if I got it to work. Michael is a good professor and does allow for lots of questions, but it is hard to articulate what you want to ask if you feel lost from the start. FUN
Very motivated professor- very open on expressing opinions about topics not necessarily related to class, could be off-putting for less open-minded students.
Michael loves what he does and it shows. It is very important to be in every class since what you learn builds from every assignment. Don't be afraid of his New York attitude and ask him a lot of questions if you don't understand what he is teaching. He loves that!
Michael is very helpful and knowledgeable. He will work with you if you need help. If you enroll in his class, you must prepare to ask questions. He likes questions.
Great class, Michael is very helpful and open to questions. Homework can be challenging, but Michael will help as much as possible. Great learning environment. Both fun and productive.
Michael is an amazing teacher. He is personable and open and yet he challenges every fiber of brain mass you may think you have. He loves questions and will also help you individually if you need it. If you have no idea or even if you think you have an idea what software design is Michael will help you get there and beyond.
Michael is a lovable spaz. I had been fearing this class forever, but Michael made it easy, fun, and just the right amount of challenging. If he gets in a "mood," you will get an earful of non-programming related ranting, but it's all in good fun. He's a nice guy and a goofball.
Mr. Passalacqua is a great instructor he uses real life examples to make his class interesting and ties in humor when ever possible. He approaches different methods and ways to explain and give out information. He definitely goes the extra mile for his students.
Micheal is amazing. The lovely thing about him is the time to ask Q and if you have any Q.
With a topic that can be as dry as Computer Software design, its great to have a funny teacher such as mike. Be warned, if you are easily offended, you may want to consider taking another teacher. His humor may become dirty/ not P.C. at times.
An amazing class. I've wasn't sure how I was going to feel about programming, but he puts a spin on it. He draws you in and your hooked. He covers the material well in class so if you have no experience you will be able to follow along. Looking forward to more of his classes!!!
Great instructor with a good sense of humor. Made beginning programming really fun and interesting.
Great teacher... Quality instructor with a passion for programming!
Funny guy, excellent teacher. Assignments were very straightforward and he was always available to help.
Canceled class far too often with little to no warning. Otherwise pretty good instructor. Tries to be humorous and engage everyone in the class whether they want to or not. Sometimes says things that might offend some people.
Micheal's a great teacher! He's super funny and helpful. His assignments weren't the easiest, but you'll have a blast taking it!
Michael is a very good teacher. He takes a very complicated subject matter (to some at least) and breaks it down so that it is very understandable. He made class fun and it was one of the most enjoyable classes I've taken at PCC to date.
This class was super fun! I haven't had this much interest in a class since taking my first accounting class over a year ago. Thank you for making my last class at PCC a fun one!
Engaging instructor who wants to make sure his students understand the concepts. He's always available to students and encouraged us multiple times to contact him if we had any questions. The assignments were challenging, so don't take this class if you want the easy A. Take it because you want to learn JavaScript.
His lecture is boring. I study business, but I need to take him because of the transfer requirement. He does not care about attendance. Homework and final are online. If you do not have any idea about constructing program(C++), this class will be very difficult and take lots of your time to do the homework. However, if you do know, it is a easy A.
Michael did a great job teaching CIS 122. Being a Network Admin. major, I didn't consider myself to be very strong at writing code and was a little apprehensive going into this class. Michael made learning how to write software a lot easier than I thought it would be and his lectures were both informative and fun. I highly recommend this Instructor
Online class. Not easy, but instructor is very helpful. Interesting material. Spends as much time "with" the class as possible, but faculty duties take away from his availability. Met or exceeded set standards for response to questions. Read student feedback and fixed problems! Would take another class from him.
I thought he was great and engaging. Has a good sense of humor. He cut classes early often or just straight up cancels class, which was fine because you don't feel like your missing any information that wasn't already covered. He makes himself available via email and gets back pretty quick. I hope to have him as a teacher again
Magnificent Instructor
Michael goes out of his way to engineer very application-centric lesson plans. His lectures are always fun, and he really encourages class participation. The classes are all about the assignments, with little to no tests or other tertiary grading measures. You WILL know how to code by the end of the class, but be prepared to work for it.
Great instructor. Many instructors teach a topic well, Passalaqua does this with JS, but goes above and beyond by teaching you how to think to become a better programmer. Although this class is offered online, I strongly suggest taking on campus. You'll get so much more out of the class. No text, free online reference material. Fun class too!
Michael was by far the worst instructor I have had at PCC. He doesn't seem to like teaching. In his syllabus he wrote he may not grade assignments-he doesn't tell you until after you complete it. Whines about not having a helper -makes excuses-but doesn't accept ANY late work. Not friendly or helpful-in my opinion. Confusing. Dropped his class
I read the syllabus and immediately tried to replace this class. Took it anyway. This guy is such a whiner & so lazy. The entirety of the class materials are complete and online on day one. And yet, he has no time to grade assignments, check the message boards or attempt to ask questions in email. I learned but not bec. of any effort of his.
He enjoys teaching and is great at it. I suggest class on-campus, as he teaches concept AND then interactively works a problem with the class, answers questions until you get it. He provide examples to help you with assignment too. Follow instructions thoroughly, read short notes, and ask questions you will do fine.
His syllabus says his class will be as intense as boot-camp, and will be the hardest thing you'll ever do. Just ignore that, this class was ridiculously easy. If you've taken any programming classes before (even just one on the basic logic of programming) this will all be review (and if you ask him he will say otherwise).
Easy A but getting a hold of him and expecting answers for problems is difficult to come by.
