Extremely nice and funny--I always look forward to his class! Very good lectures that prepare you for the exams. He's a wealth of knowledge and has the ability to explain things so you can easily understand them. I would definitely reccomend him.

Great teacher and has a positive outlook on life. Must take good notes to pass class but lectures are very intresting if you really get into the class.

This guy is funny and is a great teacher. He makes geology easy to understand pretty interesting. His tests are easy as long as you study well and he curves the tests. Definitly take him for any class he teaches.

He is a really good teacher and enjoys what he does. He's always willing to discuss topics further for better clarity. You must pay attention and take notes in order to pass his class. He does a pretty good job of keeping his students focused.

A good teacher, I had no idea there were THAT many ways the Earth could be compared to food. If you must take geology I wouldn't hesitate signing up for this class (I took it summer A, so I missed the bat-cave fieldtrip)

Good Teacher. loves Bob Dylan to the point of silliness! I turned in all of my homework and the students next to me did not and they ended up with a better class grade than me! I think he pulls grades out of a hat! He is cool anyway..

Good instructor! Attend classes, take notes and study and you will make a good grade. Doesn't like slackers. Expects you to STUDY. I hated science before I took this class. The best science class I've ever had.

Patrick has godd teaching ability and a sense of humor. Test are pretty hard though. I had about a 78% average on the 3 tests and ended up with an A. HUGE curve!

Ok, people are dissing Mr. Patrick for no reason. He is a VERY easy teacher. Just study. The curve is VERY good; you might pass with it alone. He is also hilarious, and has tons of stories and jokes. Ask him about his knife fight in Jamaica!

READ THE BOOK. Many students do well without the book because of the curve, but the curve is really just a way to say the students are slacking off. Mr Patrick only really tests on whet he said in class or what was in the reading. He's hilarious to boot.

Very helpful. TAKE GOOD NOTES. If you get at least 1 1/2 pages of notes everyday then you will be good to go. Study notes mainly, and go to class (duh).

1st: Corny jokes! 2nd: Not that helpful during office hours. 3rd: Pay attn in class, take notes. 4th: Tests unpredictable, best bet - study notes, but may include some book and lab stuff too. If I had to, I'd give him a B. Good luck.

He has an outstanding knowledge and passion for the subject which makes it somewhat interesting. But, his tests are tough. My only advice is to LISTEN IN CLASS! and take good notes. Reading chapter by chapter doesn't help too much. He gives a generous curve and it helps.

Great personality which makes the class more enjoyable, and he has a great passion for the science world. As for the class, the test are a little hard but he does curve. As long as he sees that you are trying you should do well. He keeps you thinking. Definatley read the book and take good notes

Great teacher! I would encourage anyone needing to fulfill the physical science requirement to take Mr. Patrick. Thought I would hate this class and be bored out of my mind before I took it. He made it interesting and funny. Take notes, read the book a little and you'll get an A.

Awesome teacher but his tests are hard. He is such a good teacher that I can live with the hard tests. The chances of getting an A are slim, but a B isn't too much of a problem if you work at it. He's made me interested in Geology as a career.

READ BOOK, pay attention, and form study groups because his tests are unpredictable. This is not an easy course! He's entertaining, but easily slides of topics and wastes time.

I really like him as a person. Awsome guy, good teacher, but his tests are super hard! Some of the things on the test were barely mentioned in class, and some not even at all. Make study groups! Read the book!

he is a good teacher.has a good sense of humor and curves tests, in most cases i got a C on tests, but with the curve i got a B. just study and read the book and everything will go well. also has a good sense of humor and makes alot of jokes about marijuana. I got a C+ in his class without really trying, but if you do you should do well

AWESOME TEACHER. hes hilarious. Makes the lectures intresting (it is on rocks...so its not the best material to be learn) but i really liked the class.Test are really hard, but he curves his grades so its not so hard to get a good grade- even if you do, do badly on the test.

really nice teacher. I will never look at a rock the same way. His lectures are usually not on the test,... do read the book *especially the little side notes and captions. He his helpful if you come to him with meaningful questions. Go by his office to get more info.

Awesome teacher! Hilarious! This guy makes learning about rocks fun and interesting. I seriously would have failed if I had any other teacher but I got a B+ without trying that hard. If you can take this guy... DO IT!

He is a really cool and down to earth guy! I have never been so intersted in science until I took his class. He always had me laughing in class. His tests won't be that difficult if you go to his office and talk to him!

realy nice guy, take lots of notes and you'll do ok. i didnt have a book and managed a B. tests are tricky but dont think about the questions to much, good class if you can take notes.

he is a really nice helpful teacher. better take notes in his class. exams are easy to get ready for if you have notes.

Funny guy, likes to sing oldies that relate to the material. It is definetly an interesting class. Tests are alright, if you take good notes and study. There are quizzes on the book material, but notes are always allowed. I would reccomend Mr. Patrick.

he is really interesting, and someone that you just like to listen to. If he likes you, he'll learn your name.

Professor Patrick is AMAZING. This is college people, attending class is important to get a good grade. Go to class, take notes and participate and you will get an A. Slapstick humor and very opionated. If you can't handle someone elses opinion, don't take the class. He is an amazing professor and a very good guy! LOVE THIS CLASS!!!!!

This is the funniest teacher at Santa Fe, but do not be fooled by the humor it is harder than you might think. TAKE GOOD NOTES. He will tell you what is on the test in lecture and if he says something it will be on the test. If you have a chance to take the lab with him do it. It was the coolest lab I have ever taken in college.

Like any college level course you are expected to show up, take notes, and study. If you're willing to do that then you should be fine. Professor Patrick is great and the tests are directly from the notes and book material. I loved this class so much that I actually changed and became a Geology major. Great sense of humor as well...

mike patrick is a terrible teacher! at first he seems really cool and funny but then when it comes to the tests your not gonna know what to do! his class is based on 4 tests and nothing else, it sux! i'm an A student and i made a c in his class! also he is extremely opinionated and i don't like him!

He is a really fun teacher. I love his adventure stories. He adds comedy to the class. The tests are HARD but if you study every detail from your notes and know them front and backwards then you will pass. Be there every day!!

He's a good teacher, great sense of humor, peppers his lectures with random stories and little interesting tidbits..great guy all around. However, TO PASS THIS CLASS: Attend religiously. 75% of the test material comes from the lectures so take detailed notes (you'll thank yourself later) and study really well before the tests and you'll be gold. =)

I took geology with Mike last semester. Dry sense of humor..there wasn't a day that I left class w/o laughing:) I'm an A student and made a C in this class. But, I learned so much and am really happy that I took it anyway! I recommend him. You will learn a lottt!

Guy is a good teacher knows and loves what he teachs. take GOOD NOTES! did not use book much but it is good to still have it. he is a joker and tends to go off on stories that have nothing to do with the class, but there are interesting never the less. take him.

Professor Patrick is a nice guy but his class is not easy. Take good notes from everything he says. Tests are the only points and some of the questions are obscure so studying is essential. I am an A student and I may end up getting a B.

To me, this was the best class I've taken since entering school. He tells dry jokes but I think he is a great professor. He really knows his stuff and I found it all so very interesting! There is note taking involved and you do have to study but this is college people... grow up! Take him - he's great!

he is an excellent prof, no homework. you just need to read the chapters and you can pass the tests, all multiple choice. would help to have high school phy sci or chemistry knowledge

You leave campus on field trips every week, even go spelunking. need I say more, take this class!!!!

This course is not for slackers. He doesnt give homework and the tests are multiple choice, so you have plenty of time to study. Material is interesting so is the professor. As long as you read the book and memorize some definitions you will pass. Also took lab, awesome field trips each week.

He's an excellent teacher. He interacts with the students during his lectures. Never a dull moment in class. You really have to go to class, because there's no textbook. Lectures are important, and he's strict on lab attendance as well. But I would definitely recommend him. He got me interested in science, which no one else has been able to do.

Best class for liberal arts majors because there is no math! No text book, but an actual book! That is interesting! This guy has been out in the field and knows his stuff. He teaches like a story teller. Just do the reviews and the quizes and you'll make a good grade. Simple as that.

This guy is awesome! He explains everything you need to know in lecture so show up and take good notes. He cracks jokes and makes lectures interesting. There's no homework only reading quiz's. This class is an easy A if you put forth the effort

Mr. Patrick is a great professor. Fun sense of humor. Very helpful if you show that you are interested and paying attention.Difficult class so you must show up and pay close attention. He really knows his stuff.Take him. You will learn something.

Mr. Patrick is an awesome teacher. The info you have to learn isn't the most intriguing but he makes it interesting. The book used is not a textbook but a regular book. There's a decent amount of reading involved but the book is interesting too. Class usually gets out early and so does lab. Take Mr. Patrick for sure!

Awesome, easy class. Take good notes and show up and you'll do fine. You can tell he's been doing this a while and loves what he does. He tells the best stories, though sometimes its hard to figure out when its story time and when you should take notes. Didn't use the book at all.

Mr. Patrick is awesome! I didn't care about geology at all but his lectures are pretty entertaining and he's such a sweet guy. Just make sure you pay attention and take notes- sometimes what we though was just him telling a story was a actually on the test!

He made a boring subject decently fun and kept us entertained. You can pretty much get any edition of the text book. i got mine for $8.

Fun class, and absolutely great professor. All your grade comes from 4 exams but you would have to try hard to fail them. Labs were fun and always got out early. He is passionate about what he does and knows a ton of information. He also likes to tell stories which makes the time go by fast.

Lots of slackers complaining about how hard the class was. Come on... the tests are multiple choice. Read the text and take notes. Pretty simple.

Michael Patrick is a great professor! But this class is NOT for slackers! If you are looking for an easy A, this isn't the class for you. However, his lectures are fun and interesting and he makes lab as fun as possible. Must study to pass tests. He's very willing to help if you simply ask :)

You have to go to class & study, but if you're a good student you will learn A LOT! The lab is awesome! Most of the test comes from the lecture so attendance is mandatory(Take good notes). This guy is one of the best professors I have ever had. His lectures can be long but he makes the subject interesting. I wish I could take more classes with him!

Mr. Patrick is a great instructor but this is not an easy A. You will have to go to class, take good notes, and study, but you just might learn something from a knowledgeable and entertaining man. This has been my favorite class at SF so far, and though I worked hard I was not sure I would end up with the A I got.

Okay so I did well in this class and the guy grades on a cure. His lectures are interesting, and as long as you take REALLY good notes, and come to all classes you will do good on the tests. (he doesn't follow the book really). A nice guy too. I would recommend as long as you don't mind taking good notes.

Sit in the front, DO NOT MISS CLASS + take VERY VERY detailed notes, write down every word he says, draw what he draws, ask questions + you will be fine. Actually read the chapters he assigns bc it helps w understanding lectures. Best teacher I've ever had. I LOVED this fun class + lab so much. If you are engaged you'll do well. Not for slackers.

Mr. Patrick is a very interesting teacher and has an awesome sense of humor. I have a new-found love of geology because of him. Take the lab. The field trips are great. Caving was cool. If you pay attention, you will do fine. Take the notes he puts on the board.

Good professor who know what he's talking about. Interesting but hard class. Dont take if you dont want to do the work. There are 3 exams and cumulative final. Book reading for extra pts. on final. He grades on a curve. Graded on attendance. GO to class, TAKE very good notes, STUDY. If you do this and make an effort you will pass this class.
