Very good teacher. Into his subject. Fair grading, but requires you to study.

He puts his power points online and if you add your own little notes than it is super easy to get an A. He is really into his teachings and gives unbiased opinions. He gives a lot to help and makes sure his students know what to do.

Professor Ramey is a great History professor! He doesn't teach you right of the book- like those word-for-word type of professors but you can tell he knows his stuff. He makes learning History fun. Plus he's super helpful. Attendance isn't mandatory. Definitely taking him again next semester

I had absolutely no interest in history what so ever till i signed for Professor Ramey's class. He doesn't teach boring history, he tells us very interesting stories which makes the history click in our heads. His teaching style is amazing and i highly recommend him. I took a winter break class which is supposed to be hard and it felt like nothing!

Professor Ramey makes History interesting. If you read the articles he assigns, the discussion quizzes are easy...However, he goes over the test review but it's not all multiple choice. It's essay questions. It's how he knows you learned the material. I suggest you take him. You wont regret it! Also, he's a cowboys fan... womp womp womp

The best professor I have ever had!! No need to buy a book. Tests are essay questions, but are very easy as long as you write a lot. One research paper of any topic of your choice. Discussion questions that are extremely easy since he basically gives you the answer. Take him!!

He is amazing, we established that. But here is some advice: everyone in the class should pitch in the class for the online reader. Give one or two dollars and have someone buy it, and BAM you guys just share the log in. No issue with multiple people on it either.

Hands down the best professors I've met in college. History is not my best subject but Prof. Ramey made it so interesting and fun. I looked forward going to class everyday. What can I say about professor Ramey. He is truly a secret gem. I took him for both history courses and pass both courses with A's. His grading can be seen harsh however it's not at all. Great Prof, makes the class interesting even if you don't like history. The exams have written portions, but you get the topic ahead of time. The textbook is only used for multiple choice questions so just check it out in the library and take pictures of the pages. EASY quizzes over the readings can help your grade.

He tells you exactly what to do in order to pass his class and each rubric is clearly defined and explained. He doesn't give grades on participation, but b/c there is no textbook, attendance is important for lecture

Professor Ramey was an amazing professor, I genuinely enjoyed going to his class. I recommend recording his lectures, they will help you out when it comes time to study for the tests. Professor Ramey did a great job in my summer II class. Makes history fun and exciting and cuts to the important stuff. Grades quite fairly and is wiling to work with you. Solid choice. He does curse quite a lot, if you have a problem with cursing, he isn't the guy for you. Otherwise, great teacher.

Took him in summer II 2017 for Hist 1301. Quiz every week, once you read the assigned topic you will be fine. I enjoyed going to his class. He is an amazing history teacher. One of the best Teachers I've had. Funny and relatable. He's very clear on what he expects from you. He doesn't care about attendance, but you'll miss a lot of info so go to class. I wish I hadn't transferred schools so I could take US history 2 with him.

He is a great professor, but if you don't like essays, I would advice you to not take his class since you have to write three essays that include, research, argumentative, and a monograph. He is also a tough grader on the essays, especially the research paper. The quizzes are easy and there are only two exams so study hard and don't miss class

No lie... this professor an amazing guy! Very funny and curses a lot (he can't help it... it's what makes him super funny. HA), but not offensive at all. This 2018 Fall semester we had 3 papers, about 6 quizzes a Midterm and a Final. Don't freak out about the quizzes or papers... they are super easy! Trust me... if you fail his class shame on you!

BEST HCC PROF! PROF RAMEY IS AWESOME!! The book you'll need to buy is 25 dollars and is a collection of historical documents (Pearson eReader) and you need to read 1 text before each quiz. The midterm and final can be either multiple choice or essay (if you choose essay you'll need to study less topics, but know them VERY WELL and show that to him)

Easy weekly 3 question quizzes, just make sure to read the short reading assigned plus 3 easy assignments and 2 create your own exams (those are a little challenging), but the class is not hard to pass. You have the option to drop your lowest grade if you choose not to do an assignment. We had 1 group project which was a debate and just do the work and you will pass. He is not a hard grader. We had 2 test midterm and final. We had small readings each week for a 3 question quiz, you only have to get 1 answer right to get a 100. TAKE HIM!!!!

Hes not a though grader, his work was easy to be completely honest as long as you read (although some of the quizzes you can find on quizlet). He answers his emails really fast and not to mention he is really funny!

Take him! Take him! Take him! I took his online class which included chapter readings, chapter quizzes, 4 essays, and 4 discussion posts. At first glance, the assignments did seem overwhelming but it's manageable. The class did feel more like a writing class but I didn't mind. If you put in work and are a decent writer, you'll get an A!

I just took Prof Ramey for an 8-week online class. I have to say it was a bit challenging trying to fulfill all the readings and assignments. Prof Ramey is awesome. Took his 8 week online class for summer, and while it was a lot of participation, it wasn't hard to keep up with. It was well organized and his Historical Fiction assignment was actually FUN! Yes, a FUN assignment! In History class! He is caring and funny. Not an EASY A, but follow instructions and turn in work. You'll be ok!

He is a funny professor who gives great feedback. however, it's not easy to get an A in this class. you write 4 essays, 16 ch. quizzes, 4 quizzes based on the book he assigns (answers are not online) so Read the book! 4 DB's that are like mini essays, you really have to give a well researched and though out statement, not just a vague paragraph.

But don't let that distract you his assignments are still important. You have to actually read/pay attention to his weekly readings, read and understand assigned book reading!

I chose this professor through here, and let me say BEST DECISION EVER! I will truly miss his class. He is caring & understanding. Assignments were easy and he pushed the due dates back. Attendance is mandatory. He answers emails right away. CHOOSE HIM!

Professor Ramey is one of the good professors that give good feedback and you also get to enjoy History. I am not a person of US History, I like more math but I really enjoy this class. Definitely take him, you won't regret it.

I loved his class and my classmates. He gives great feedback for your assignments and does drop one.

His grading criteria is very clear, he gave written/video feedback, and he's very understanding if you reach out to him ahead of time. There's 1 book that you'll have to read, 4 easy papers, 4 discussion posts, and quizzes where you can keep answering until you get to 100%. One would have to try hard to do poorly in his class. Would take him again

He is awesome! Loves to talk. :) He gives extra points in quizzes (funny questions) as long as you pay attention to his videos. So great about leaving you recorded feedback on your work! Quizzes are at the end of each chapter so it's easy. He loves essays and online discussion boards. Prepare to write for these! He is super fun!

Professor Ramey has been my favorite at HCC so far. He's funny during lectures so you stay interested and he gives extra points for participation. One of the best classes I've taken and history isn't even my major.

Professor Ramey is a great professor, He does talk most of the class but he makes that class fun and easy-going. He doesn't give a lot of assignments but he does have a few major grade essays that are a bit tough. If you show up to class and listen and pay attention you will pass. He will give you good feedback as well and answers emails fast.

Professor Ramey was great. He's caring and understanding. He assigned 4 papers (Historical Fiction, Argumentative, Monograph Analysis, & Museum Tour). However, he gave plenty of time to finish all writing assignments & quizzes(super easy). He gives great feedback. You'll never be left in the dark. I struggle w/ writing but I found his class easy.

This is not an Easy A because we're not in high school anymore. If you value your education here is a great instructor with genuine feedback & grading criteria. Show up to class and participate and you will have no problem getting an A. Also if you write about 9/11 for the Historical Fiction you have a room temperature IQ. Do better.

Professor Ramey is great. Highly recommend him if you're looking for a professor that doesn't put their liberal political bias into their lessons. (Hard to find these days!) He is very neutral politically, and his lectures are actually interesting and funny! He's just an all around awesome professor.

Professor Ramey always bases his quizzes on the lecture he gives in class or the articles that he assigns us to read. I really don't understand the bad reviews since the professor gives excellent lectures and the truth is that he explains everything very well, the only problem would be yourself if you don't pay attention during class!!!

I have taken this professor on online anytime, and this professor is great. I could have passed if I managed my time better, but everything is clear and to the tea. Lectures are amazing, I did not get bored. My favorite unit was the slavery and middle passage. This professor does not like mediocre work, in fact, he wants you to push. Take him!

Take this professor, best decision ever. I took him for the HIST 1301, and I decided to take the second class. The lectures are very understandable, and he listens to us. The classes are very informative, and he explains everything very well. I am not good at History, but he makes it easy to understand. You should take this class, trust me.

Will 10000% take Professor Ramey again for Hist 1302. He made Hist 1301 straightforward and not difficult. I personally love history so this class was not hard for me to read and stay on top of my assignments. If you don't like history, you will still do well as long as you give good analysis for discussions and thoroughly read the assigned book.

I really recommend Prof. Ramey. He is lenient on extensions as long as you communicate with him beforehand. His lecture videos were very helpful and interesting. His also really nice & gives feedback on all assignments. Take him!!!

Amazing teacher... Being an International student I had no idea how I would understand US history, but he made it so easy. He's a really funny yet intelligent teacher, he's probably the best you'll come across.

Professor Ramey is a great professor. Some people may think he comes off a bit rough but he is just super honest. The class had quite a bit of reading and essays but he made the information fun. History has always been my worst subject because usually it is boring, but not with this professor.

Prof Ramey is a great teacher. I took HIST 1301 & 1302 - loved both. Lectures are interesting, thought-provoking, and sometimes are just a good conversation. If you show up, do the work, and speak up, you'll get an A. One of the best at HCC.

Great professor! I took his online HIST1301 class and I think his class was a good balance of everything in terms of grading, assignments and overall difficulty. He also gives great lectures and I absolutely love the way he explains things, very interesting and engaging. I would definitely take his class again and recommend you take his class too.

This is my first RMP review despite being in university a couple of years. Why? Because Professor Ramey is just THAT amazing. I nearly didn't write this in order to gatekeep him but y'all deserve to have a great professor to teach you history lessons. Professor Ramey loves his job and you can tell. Best. Professor. Ever!

Professor Ramey loves history and is a great teacher. His video lectures are very long and very informative. You will have a couple of papers, a ton of discussions, and some quizzes. His feedback is enjoyable to read/watch. You will certainly gain knowledge after taking this course. Would recommend taking this class.

This is one of the best instructors I've had in my whole life. He really kept the course interesting. He was very unbiased in the way he taught history, despite the OpenStax textbook being very biased. Granted, the textbook was free. He had us read a lot, but the workload wasn't too heavy. He gave great constructive feedback and is very inspiring.

My favorite professor so far. He was super empathic when my grandpa died during the semester and his class was so fun and stimulating. The amount of homework we got was appropriate and not too hard but the 2 writing assignments are tedious. He swears a lot but me personally I enjoy it. You can tell he cares about all his students and his job.

He made sure we were able to easily understand the expectations and criteria for for each assignment and the whole couirse as well.

There's quizzes every other week, which is multiple choice, and weekly reading. He gives feedback with a video for essays so that you know him as a professor which is nice. Overall, I enjoyed him class.

Best professor I've had by far. Summer course workload was tough but manageable (I took 3 classes), Weekly discussions, quizzes and a few 4-5 page papers. He gives amazing feedback and is very lenient on most things, definitely take him if you can.

Take him you won't regret it. he's an amazing professor. the only con to him is that he gets sidetracked a lot with unrelated topics but he ultimately teaches you so much. He's very funny and nice and his lectures are amazing. trust me he's the best history professor you can have.

The best part about this professor is that he is very active!!!. He teaches in a very nice way, and some of his tests are on Quizlet, not all though. Plus he is very very very considerate too. He was very amazing to approximate my score to become an A when I was borderline. He's such a sweetheart!

Overall Michael is a nice professor. He's v involved w/ his lecture videos. The class structure is pretty straightforward, easy to work ahead. He assigns a book you have to buy and I recommend to start reading it asap bc a lot of book assignments are due at the end of the course. There're also two 3-5 pg. essays, 1 before and 1 after spring break.

He made history very interesting with his very enjoyable lectures. Definitely gotten multiple laughs out of my class. He doesn't accept late work but gives multiple reminders and is always willing to work something out if said ahead of time. He gives pop quizzes but as extra credit. Can't wait to take him for History 1302

TAK HIM FOR HISTORY! I usually don't rate professor's , but he honestly deserves a good rating. He was super understanding, and very caring. If you do your work correctly and actually put effort, you will pass with an A or B+.

Professor Ramey runs an engaging course with helpful lectures. The workload can be heavy, but using resources like unstuck study alongside the textbook makes it manageable. Overall, a worthwhile class if you're ready to put in the effort.

I took professor Ramey's world history class during the 2024 spring term and his lectures were by far the most informative, funny, and engaging lectures that I've had the privilege of sitting through. Lectures are entertaining. Allows you to use your notes for exams - so make sure you keep good notes. He is straightforward about how he wants assignments done, but if you still have questions he does not have an issue clarifying it for you. He is accommodation-friendly if you have those.

Professor Ramey is the absolute best professor I've ever had!!! I took his HIST 1301&1302 and I would recommend him to anyone I know. His video lessons are fantastic and detailed. For his online courses he does personalized videos on your discussion or papers and provides amazing feedback. His passion for teaching and history is contagious!

Ramey was funny, light-hearted, understanding, and a fairly easy grader if you showed an effort! No textook, slideshow presentation only. TAKE NOTES!!!! I will be taking him again in the Fall because he made History FUN. And that is impossible!

A good teacher gives students a chance to succeed. You won't regret taking his class. He gives quizzes and there is a final paper u have to write, but honestly, it was so fun to do because he gives a lot of creative liberty to the students.

MY GOAT!! He was honestly the most caring and reliable professor I've had for a 5-week class. Lots of reading but the assignments were all doable. I appreciated how I was having a rough time trying to manage the class, yet he was willing to accommodate and made sure I passed the class. Would retake him again and again!

Professor Ramey was the best I've had so far. You can tell he genuinely loves teaching history and makes class entertaining. Usually very lenient and understanding, assigns work a week in advance so you actually have time. 1 paper where each step was broken down over a few weeks, and 1 interview project, both VERY easy. Allows notes for ALL tests.
