Funniest guy at SDSU. I go to class because I actually want to hear what he has to say. He uses his real life to connect with other students and use examples. He is truly inspiring I recommend this class. Not to mention, it is easy.

Rapp is a good lecturer especially if you have a hard time staying engaged. Rapp teaches through stories and humor which makes the lectures much more entertaining and makes you want to attend his class.

Took comm online. Super easy class. He's a super fun person and so kind. Lots of reading assignments take about an hour. One final and midterm. Keep track of the due dates and you should be fine. Replies to emails slow.

This class has literally changed my relationships in life. You learn so many important life skills and he's so good at explaining it and opening up about himself. I definitely recommend. It also counts as a GE and is an easy A. This class is free therapy honestly. I definitely am a different person than I was before taking it

Rapp is a very cool person. He's so funny and he shows that he cares about his students. He's not there just to do his job he also has great stories to tell and his lectures are easy to watch. The clicker questions are needed but you can do them anywhere. He made me do better as a speaker and he's defs one of the top teachers I had this semester.

To be honest you can do the clicker questions from anywhere. In my opinion, going to the classes was not super helpful because he did not really add anything too important and it was all tangents he went on. CHOOSE YOUR SMALL GROUP INSTRUCTOR CAREFULLY that's what matters.

Rapp is one of my favorite teachers at state, you won't regret taking him. He's so funny during lectures and he tries to make it as enjoyable as possible. He teaches you a lot of life lessons too its really helpful. He makes everything easy all you have to worry about is going to class to do clicker questions and the textbook assignments.

Everyone always says 'We Love Rapp' and it's honestly true. His class is the only one that I have a 100% attendance in, and I looked forward to each one. He does digital clickers which count toward participation in the course, but most are opinion based or on the mcgraw. Also, I'd consider his mid/final to be fairly easy. Funny guy

He doesn't really lecture, more like talks about his life, but the small section instructors help give a clear idea of what is going on. I really enjoyed his class though, he always made the lectures fun; only 4 speeches and 2 exams which are all easy to do well on if you just do them

I went to lectures not because I felt I would get behind, but because every time I went I walked out feeling like I just learned a life lesson. Low homework, few projects. I would recommend this class to anyone and everyone.

The large lecture for COMM 103 is easy; you just have to show up and participate in clicker questions to get points for showing up. Rapp makes it interesting with fun story that also help you remember key ideas of communication. I definitely do not recommend putting off the smart books until the last week, do one each week.

1000% recommend taking Rapp at least once while you're at SDSU! He truly cares about what he's teaching and doesn't just lecture for 50min---he's engaging and applies the topic to real life situations. Class is based on a lot of points so just do the work and you'll get an A. Exams are easy and McGraw chapters are an easy do.

Rapp is pretty laidback and sets clear expectations. While I did enjoy lectures (he told many humorous anecdotes), they were a bit pointless since he spent the majority of the class telling stories rather than teaching the material. Just take notes on the key terms in the SmartBook assignments and you'll be fine.

Master Rapp is great. Very chill class as you only have to do McGraw Hill Connect Smartbook assignments that are due before the tests and answer a few Clicker questions during class. He goes over material on his slides but then ends up telling interesting stories about his life. Gives great relationship advice. A must-have teacher!

I hate public speaking and I looked forward to each lecture he had.

Rapp is a very nice guy who cares about his students. His big lecture once a week was honestly kind of useless because he wouldn't always necessarily talk about the things in the book for Comm 103. A lot of his lectures consisted of his own way of incorporating communication concepts into other aspects of life which was not on our exams.

Amazing teacher. While the content itself isn't very exciting, the way he speaks and teaches the material makes it so much better. You can tell he really cares about his students and is passionate about his job. You'll enjoy listening to all of his stories and are guaranteed some laughs. Would argue he's the most loved teacher at SDSU. Take him!

Great professors. Is able to keep you engaged even in a large lecture hall. Unlike most lectures, Rapp's lectures are entertaining as he talks about his life experiences which makes class fun. I would suggest taking Rapp. He's one of my favorite professors I've had.

Rapp is easily the best professor I have had at SDSU. His class is straight forward with weekly quizzes, a virtual speech, group project, and an essay. What makes him great is hes very caring and want the best for you. I was in a dark place at the time and Rapp was someone I could talk to when no one could. I highly recommenced this course!

Like I mean its Rapp. Everyone takes him he is funny and the class is easy. My friends and I go to lectures even though we are not even in the class anymore. Like he says the class is 90% your small section so just think of large lecture as your reward.

Most stuff was on Quizlet and the tests were not recorded so it was easy. He is a great teacher. Youll love him. He does like to ramble on with long stories during lecture but its like a little podcast. There are two tests based on the book. Take notes on each chapter and do not fall behind on the Learnsmarts and notes so you have less to do later

Loved his lectures and wanted to make the class easy, and he did. I had fun and his TA's were outstanding in making sure everything was covered, especially Jordan R. Both really made COMM103 enjoyable and its easy to make friends while preparing for your speeches as well.

Large lectures do require iClicker points but are worth going to. Definitely one of the best professors I have had and would take COMM 103 large lecture with him again.

I took COM 103 online so the large lectures were recorded but overall I enjoyed the lectures and the clicker question were extremely easy. As for the midterm and final, they were also easy and taken almost directly from the book's practice questions.

Large lecture with Rapp is amazing. I suggest taking him for comm 103. This is a very easy class if you do the work. The only textbook that is "required" is the smart book, you don't even really have to read just do the questions. Rapp does really care about his students. Just do you smart book assignments and you should be good.

His large lectures, although having 400+ people in them, felt like a small and comforting environment with his caring and funny aura. He cracked many jokes every class which always made me feel less stressed. This guy is top tier.

Rapp is incredible. I loved going to large lecture because he is incredibly funny and caring for all of his students. Don't be afraid to talk to him outside of class, he is always available. I would suggest reading the textbook though because his lectures are more of a life lesson class than about the class material. Still would 100% recommend.

I LOVED THIS CLASS Seriously, this class was great. You'll have Rapp 50 minutes a week and a small section instructor for the other 2 classes. Follow the outlines and you'll do fine on the speeches, and everything else is just showing up. Tests easy if you do the HW. As for the lectures... you'll definitely want to attend for the fun of it.

Master Rapp taught by applying concepts from class and the textbook to everyday scenarios and would give examples by telling relatable stories. Of all of the classes I have taken at SDSU, I feel as if I learned the most from this class, and I know I can apply what I learned in class to everyday life.

Professor Rapp will only teach the large lectures and you'll give your actual speeches in a small section with around 14 people. The rubrics and instructions for each speech are very clear. I LOVE RAPP! His lectures were witty and knowledgable. Public speaking is a big part of the small lecture for this class. However, Rapp makes it less scary. The only thing that sucked was McGrawhill, the online textbook you did assignments out of. Other than that, I loved this class!

Large lecture consists of over 200 students & attendance is on iclicker so you don't need to attend class if you complete polls during lecture time. HW is on McGraw hill and takes over an hour to complete but answers are on quizlet. 5/5 recommend taking!

He would talk about random stuff for the first 20 minutes of class and then sort of lecture the last 30 minutes so it felt like a waste of time. He was funny and made the lectures fun but I would've rather been at home. But overall it is an easy class and he is very understanding of circumstances.

Honestly, he's a really funny dude who just goes off on a lot of funny tangents about his own personal life and makes his lectures a lot more fun. He does talk about his ex a lot, which is pretty funny. Honestly a great lecturer and just a really funny dude.

Why are all the best professors GE professors? Master Rapp is hilarious and very understanding. His lectures consists of his own personal stories and lecture slides. I personally did a lot of his homeworks just in his lectures. Tests are also not bad, they're take home!!

He is probably the best lecturer I have ever had, which makes sense as he is a comm professor, but still. I felt like I understood everything he was saying. He was super clear. I just wish the class had more lectures and less small sections.

Michael Rapp understands that he is teaching a Gen Ed class to a lot of people who probably don't want anything to do with public speaking. For that reason he makes this class very easy. The lectures are never boring and he loves talking about his exes to crowds of over 300. Easy credit.

For a GE course, Rapp's lectures were pretty entertaining. TBH the lecture material that he talks about in class is not related to the content of the course (he talks about his exes 90% of the time) but it's a nice break in the day from hard classes. Midterm and final are both online and are pretty easy, and there's quizlets if you want to study.

Michael Rapp is a very hilarious instructor in COMM 103 large lecture. He brings so many interesting stories about everything in his life. Trust me, attend his large lecture and you will hear it for yourself. He doesn't do attendance but he does do iclicker points to track the attendance for points. I highly recommend this guy for Oral Comm course

Take Rapp for Comm 245. Attendance is not required. Weekly chapter quizzes (on quizlet), a PSA PowerPoint group project, a recorded speech (90 seconds; submit online), a conflict paper (3-4 pages), and a final exam online (open note). Straightforward and interesting class. He relates concepts to real-world experiences. Overall caring professor.

His lectures were very entertaining and the material was all easy to understand. The course is set up to help students do well, and you can tell that this guy genuinely cares about his students.

Finished his class Spring 2024. A very good lecturer, and someone you want to learn from. Very clear grading criteria, with homework all online. It is almost impossible to get a bad grade in this class, and the TA's will go out of their way to support you.

Easy class and interesting lectures

Rapp is an amazing lecturer. Com103 (speech) was actually a pretty heavy class for me with having to research and write multiple speeches to deliver. Really helped me with public speaking. This is exactly the type of college class to take for real-world prep. Rapp is the GOAT as well as my small section teach, Ryan Montez. Both Amazing!

GO TO THE LECTURES, Rapp is hilarious and a great way to ease you into SDSU, especially as a freshman taking COMM 103. He uses Iclickers which u need to be active in if you want to get an A.

Rapp is my king. I love him. He is so funny and even though lectures were "mandatory" (iClicker), I still loved to show up just to hear him talk. The McGraw Hill assignments can be a pain but if you find time to just grind them out its super chill. Tests are online as well.

Gave a ton of advice for outside of class that lead to life lessons. The ratings on this guy support this as he's been doing this for a while, and feels less like a lecturer and more like a student himself. Don't have to show up to class as checking in is all done from your phone. I rarely missed class as I enjoyed his chats through the semester.

Attendance was mandatory through Iclciker but I only attended class twice. I think they changed the Iclicker thing though. When I did attend class I watched shows and did not pay attention. Homework was a bit tedious but it wasn't the end of the world. Same with exams. A small section will be more impactful though for comm.

This is the best professor at SDSU.The best you can get, so be lucky you have him. His lectures are fun, funny, and educational. The workload is easy you get a lot of time for everything and all the exams are online and chill. Attendance is technically mandatory, but you can miss three days and he will excuse it.

A SDSU staple. I'm pretty sure everyone who takes COMM103 has to have him. Most if not all of his students love him. He's super real and will call out people in the front and on the aisles. Most people on campus know him and he'll popup on YikYak a lot. Overall just a great guy, and I definitely will take another class with him.

By far, it's such a fun and interesting class. His lectures were always entertaining and funny. The only HW we had was to fill out multiple-choice questions about the chapters. You had a lot of time to complete them, but they lowkey took a while. We had maybe 4 quizzes but they were all taken online and you had the whole day to complete them. Easy.

Overall a good professor. It is necessary to go to lectures for participation points, but you don't really need to pay attention; everything you need to know is said In small section. He's super funny and nice overall.

decided to take this course after taking 103 with rapp. one of the best decisions ever. each class felt like a mini therapy session where rapp teaches you to effectively communicate while creating an environment where people can be vulnerable and open. there are weekly quizzes, 1 group project, an online final exam, and multiple EC opportunities.

All freshmen have to take COMM 103, but it makes it better if Rapp is the teacher. He has many interesting and personal stories to tell, which engage the class. Rapp is an icon that everyone at SDSU will experience at some point. Lectures aren't really full of blatant information but still connect back to the topics of comm. I'd recommend doing the McGraw Hill modules during his lectures because they are a pain and most of the time you'll put it off until the last minute. His yapping is good background.

Rapp is basically a campus celebrity. COMM103 is a must take and is a pretty breezy class... lecture really just requires you to show up, and it's actually interesting so it's not hard to listen. Master Rapp is the king of SDSU and you should take any class where he is the professor, he is the funniest professor in the US but he also teaches communication perfectly, the best combination for a professor!

I had him for 103 also and Comm 245 is his passion project. He often covers the same stories but cares more and goes into detail in 245. Class was not hard and would highly recommend even if not for credit. One of the most real professors who is open emotionally and supports students.

Rapp is not ALL THAT. Overrated and the lectures were not very interesting. I found myself listening more attentively to my physics lecture before this. Do homework during his lectures!!! Waste of time, otherwise. All that being said he really does care a lot about his students individually, and is a VERY easy class. Find a good small section.

Rapp might be one of the best speakers I've ever seen. As far as the lectures go, they are very entertaining, and what he does explain sticks, but there are huge portions of information(that are on the midterms) that you will need to learn for yourself. Still, the textbook stuff is pretty simple and also boring, so I would rather have a fun lecture

I really dislike large lectures, but he knows how to make us get some enjoyment out of the large lectures. Definitely attend every lecture for the free iclicker points as well as to reinforce communication information for your speeches and tests. Really cool guy, but the textbook can be a slog to get through. It's not that hard, just long!

This was my first large lecture class and this man honestly makes the 50 mins worth it. He is hilarious and always connects his personal anecdotes to our communication class and makes the concept of communication more interesting. I still don't like comm that much, but he makes it worth it. I wish he did small sections bc that would be so much fun

super cool and funny professor, really down to earth. everyone on campus knows him, his class is a MUST TAKE! lectures for 50 minutes once a week, and since his stories are funny and engaging it goes by quick. this is a large lecture class, 400~ students, but you give speeches in small lectures to only 20~ students.

Incredibly kind, weaves interesting stories into lecture content (though said lectures can get overshadowed by stories), funny, understanding, and overall charismatic. Still learned a lot and appreciated the lectures, both for the stories and the content. Also clearly provides reminders for deadlines.

He was late to nearly every class which was already short. Choose your small section instructor wisely because that's where the real work happens.

Rapp is great for COMM 103 large lecture. He keeps things entertaining and funny while teaching. Attendance makes up 10% of your grade, but you get 3 absences so its easy enough to not lose points. Your grade in COMM is more dependent on your small section instructor who will actually see your speeches, but Rapp is still a great help.

Amazing. He's so funny. There is points for attendance, but you get 3 absences. Lectures are super chill, I did the online homework during that time. The homework takes an hour to complete and is based on textbook reading. Its all multiple choice and credit for completion. He tells a lot of stories but they usually connect to the lesson.

He has funny stories and his class is super easy. The small discussion is what matters and consists of speeches and really depends on your small section instructor. Hated the sex jokes tho
