mr reed is an excellent teacher, i would recommend him for any geography class, i've had all his classes. he's an excellent teacher and he cares! if i didn't have him for my first class, i would've dropped out of school!

Professor Reed is not an easy teacher but he is a good one. You will have to work for your grade and study but, you will actually learn something. Study and attend class and you will do fine.

Excellent class. Overall great teacher. relates to students well and makes the class really interesting by introducing outside(not in the textbook) elements related to geography. My interest in Geography has definitely expanded and I'm really enjoying learning as much I am in this class.

Hes is a good teacher and he knows a lot about geography...but he never gives homework assignments which make it hard to pass the class..all u have to do is read and sometimes its hard...some of his tests dont have anything to do with what he teaches...hes really fun but it was a veryy hard class

Honestly he's really EASY as long as you read the book and grasp the concepts. His tests are all multiple choice and essays. If you are at least decent in English I don't see any reason why you should get anything lower than an A or B, maybe you would need to study harder. I CHALLENGE you to take his class if you think you are UCLA or Berkeley material.

Good class. Not a great class, but a good one. Mr. Reed taught me a lot, but there could be more homework. Tests are hard but fair.

His class wasn't too hard or too easy.He will not spoon-feed you an 'A',you have to work for it.His tests aren't too hard if you listen,take notes,and read.That's not too much to ask for.I can't stress enough the need to study for his tests.You won't pass otherwise.He's funny and very nice,makes the subject interesting so you'll want to learn it.

HE is very carrying and nice teacher, but his class is very hard.....the tests are very hard either...u dont get any homework in his class..but he gives surprise quizes....the bad thing about his class is that his lectures have nothing to do with the tests.....u just have to read and study a lot.....

I learned alot in this class and his passion for the subject intrigues others to want to learn more. Overall, a good professor though at times has shown a bit of a snooty side which is displeasing. I did enjoy Geography 102 very much, got an A, and would consider taking Mr. Reed again. There's no homework except intensive reading for the tests.

Reed overall was a good teacher very informative..during class he lectures from the book materials; his tests are decent (you will pass if you take good notes and actually listen to what he has to say) there are two tests; a final project and a final; I learned alot from him; dont ask to many questions he will sorta make u feel stupid

This is the first science class I ever liked. Reed makes class interesting. Just read the book and study for his tests and you pass. Plus I enjoyed class. He can be funny and makes science interestinng.

Prof Reed frustrates the hell out of me. I KNEW I was relatively conservative, then I took his class. I KNEW I was going to major in history, then I took his class. Michael is by far one of the most amazing people I have ever met. His lectures are so intresting and he has so much exprience. The class is realivly simple, yet many seem to fail.

If you EVER get a change to take the physcial geography lab in Baja Mexico with Mike, do it! It is a truly amazing exprience. One week class in mexico, and you get to snorkle and go on hikes. Very fun. A semster long class, completed in a week. By far, an unforgettable exprience.

Prof. Reed is a great teacher who is very well informed and interested in what he teaches and it clearly shows by his enthusiasm. I took Geo 101 with him and leaned many things about the world; as well as, going to Baja for Geo 111, which was not only fun but educational as well. Take his class, highly recommended for Geo.

Mr. Reed is awesome. His class is interesting. I didn't dread going to class. However, he needs to update his powerpoints and study guides because it doesn't go with the new version of the book. Pay attention in class and there are online quizzes based on the book so the book is mandatory. They're pretty easy though. Take him.

Reed's lectures often go off on tangents. Though his life stories are very interesting, much of your grade comes from online quizzes which are based solely on the book - which is discussed in class AFTER you have already taken the quiz! He's a fun teacher but if you REALLY want to learn about cultural geography, you should just read a book instead.

Most students in this class are taking it as a GE. In community college level no instructor have the right to make the subject so broad and so time consuming which can have a negative effect on other more important courses. Mr Reed does that. He better start rethinking about the materials he requires his students to "memorize." It's 21st century!

Reeds Geo 102 class was fun, fairly interesting and mildly entertaining. I don't understand how anyone can call this class difficult the tests are super easy and curved... The quizs are online they are are basically info hunting on the book, truly annoying but you have plenty of time to finish. He talks a lot and fast. Environmental lefty..

He's honestly not that exciting of a teacher. He does crack jokes here and there and makes the boring subject matter bearable but honestly it's an easy class. i LOVED this class. It was fun, easy, and i hardly read the textbook. He has super easy quizzes on moodle which are for a big part of your grade. i hardly studied for the midterms and final and got A's on all of them. You don't even have to take notes. Just show up, PAY ATTENTION (having a cup of coffee should help), and do all the work. Easy A

VERY passionate about the subject which helps alot. Very well informed on anything you want to know about geography or environmental current events. For those not into the subject he makes interesting. Homework is moderate and the tests are very do-able (got an A on ALL of them).

Fun and funny guy, but has some interestingly tricky questions on tests... Some things you look back on and wonder how does that make sense? Easy A. You can ace his multiple choice midterms and final if you use logic and have some background knowledge without reading the book. You basically have to memorize trivial facts and some vocabulary words you see often. The book was only used to find insignificant facts for online hw, and a neighborhood project was beneficial i.m.o.

Professor Reed is great. His tests can be tough, but he gives study guides with all the relevant information. His lectures are super interesting, and he is always available in office hours to help. He also gives extra credit.

Not only is he good looking but he's an amazing professor. It shows how passionate he is about Geography. Attendance isn't mandatory because everything you need to know for tests is in the book. Mr. Reed is an awesome teacher. I've taken two of his classes and have enjoyed both. If you're willing to actually read and study, getting an A in his class will be very easy. He puts all of his powerpoint presentations online and he loves talking to his students if you're willing to learn, so don't hesitate to stop by office hours.

Good professor. Decent materials. But I dont like the final exam, no matter how many A's or F's you get on quizes, final is what determines your final letter score. So the bad thing is that final can drop you a letter grade if you did bad. I didnt like how it was cumulative, shouldve been previous 2 chapters, wouldve been easier

I took geography 102 and got a D because of my personal life and I wasn't able to study. His class is not easy but it's not hard. You have to study and be prepared for his exams and quizzes. He is very easy going. Assigns homework so you understand the material. You learn a lot about real life with this course!

Excited about topic, up-to-date, enjoys teaching. Ppt files help, good notes are more important. Most test questions from lectures. Anything talked about is important - anything repeated is a sure test question. Always avail during office hours. A well reasoned argument show you thought about it has allowed credit. 110% on fairness scale.

Mr Reed is so inspirational on so many levels. You obviously have to read the material. He has quizzes on each ch. those are more based on the material in the book, his tests are based on his lectures which are all on moodle. Professor Reed is an amazing professor ! He is extremely helpful and understanding . Lectures are fun because he uses life experience to teach. Mind map project was so much fun! SI is available and he gives extra credit which amazing . The only thing that was a little stressful was to keep up with the change of office hours .

I loved how Professor Reed taught the geography classes! He is a quite interesting and excellent person and he knows Geography like 100%. He is very outgoing, adventurous, and more, so if you are also like that then you're hooked. Overall, make sure you do what he tells you and try to make the deadlines. He was amazing!

Honestly my favorite class so far at GCC. If you attend the lectures and take good notes you'll do fine! He gives online quizzes that are easy if you read the chapter(they're short)! Prof. Reed is very passionate and informative in his lectures. He includes his personal life stories which makes his lectures really comical and entertaining. Doing well in the exams and online quizzes requires you to read the textbook (veryyy thin compare to most college textbooks) so there are no excuses not to read it! Noww take this class!

Professor Reed is hands down one of the best professors I had at GCC! Geography is really awesome, but Reed makes it even better by making it relevant to each student! The textbook readings and homework are very doable, and he gives more than enough opportunities for students to succeed. I only wish I could have taken more courses with him!

Mr. Reed is a wonderful person and teacher. He gives a quiz every Sunday, and assignments that help you for the final project. His quizzes are from the book and the exams are from the lectures. He is a fun teacher to take and he is very helpful. If you don't study you won't pass, because there are many terms you need to know.

He is awesome. If you come by his office hours, he will make sure that you understand the concept. There are home quizzes and homework. Quizzes were harder then exams. Homework was actually pretty fun because you learn everything about an assigned country. Attendance is not mandatory, but essential to passing exams!

Mr. Reed's cultural geography class was one of the most interesting classes I've taken at GCC. He's such a great professor and his lectures are so interesting. You learn anything from languages to religion, migratory patterns and everything ties into current events which in turn becomes interesting to talk about outside of class. I highly recommend

Mr Reed is one of my favorite teachers at GCC, took him for cultural geography. He was amazing and inspiring. He is straight forward and a fair grader. He gives multiple choice tests every 3 chapters or so + an online quiz every chapter. His lectures are easy to follow and very interesting. Be sure to read the chapter beforehand and take good notes

Good teachers are hard find, a good teacher is not someone who gives you an A but someone who leaves a print in your education career. Mr Reed is one of those teachers he is very passionate about geography. He talks a lot about his own life and places he has traveled, which is great because it is from first hand experience and not a textbook.

He gives fun lectures but they're not enough to rly understand the subject. I can't stress enough how important it is to read the textbook. You won't pass without it. The text will give all the info and the lectures will make the concepts make more sense. Took 101+102 w him and I worked my ass off to get an A both semesters don't think itll b easy.

3 in "Easiness" means that you need to work a bit for the grade: study, listen, ask questions if needed, etc. He gives study guides for each chapter to help you out & even extra credit for going to SI sessions. He's a really down-to-Earth, awesome professor you can go chat with & is always there for you. This class changed how I view the world.

2nd easiest class I've taken at GCC, also bc he is very generous when it comes to grading (curves tests, extra credit). 2 written hw assignments, as long as he sees that you tried, you get 100%. Super easy online quizzes for every section/ chapter, answers can be found on the book or internet! Loved his own travel stories. Attendance non-mandatory.

Gives quiz amnesty (a chance to make up a grade/ if you missed a quiz), curves tests, easy online quizzes and hw (only 2 for the entire semester). You need a book for this class, which can be rented from Amazon for $12. Lectures are insightful, especially loved his personal travel stories. Was only strict on attendance at the beginning of semester.

One the of the best teachers at GCC! Amazingly interesting lectures. There are professors who give you knowledge about their subject but there are also ones that make you think in a different way and reconsider many aspects of your life. I am so happy that I took his class and had an opportunity of learning from him.

He's seriously a really awesome teacher that's always there for you & is really funny. Anytime you want to visit his office hours, he's there for you, even if you just want to chat with him. You DO have to study the vocab & notes, but I would say his tests are fairly easy. Opens your eyes to different viewpoints. Would definitely take again.

Honestly, he's an amazing teacher. He's accessible out of class. Almost every week he gives an online quiz and lets you re-attempt it to get a higher grade. His tests are not easy, but he curves them up a lot. He tells you to take notes, but if you just listen to him there is no need. If you just study using his study guide you'll surely get an A.

Amazing professor! You'll have online quizzes, homework assignments, also 3 or 2 midterms, with the lowest grade being dropped. Studying is, of course, necessary, but understanding the concepts is better because you will have logical questions on the tests. We also had a book to read, which was on the test, but don't know if he'll assign it again.

Prof Reed is a great geographer and if you do a little work you will actually learn alot. He has standards and you have to work for a grade compared to some other teachers who kiss up to the students so their classes are full.

Overall he is one of the best proffesors ive had. He does give hws on each chapter but nothing you cant handle. His elctures are interesting and funny and his exams are on his powerpoints so dont panic.

professor reed is one of my favorite prof. at gcc. he has so much knowledge on not just geography but anything because geography is the study of everything. i sure found him interesting. he has online quizzes which is helpful but it gets in the way when u work full time. his tests to me if u study are easy. few are impossible to answer.

Definitely one of the best classes I have taken not only a great professor but such an amazing person and a great friend , the classes were so fun and productive I tried to not to miss any of the classes because I did't want to miss any of the lectures even though he does't deduct any points for not being in class .

I just ended this semester with him, The semester went by so quick. He made a such great engaging environment in the class I really didn't want this class to end I will miss his lectures a lot. Professor Reed is an amazing professor. Geography's not my major but he made me wish it was, only so I could take more of his classes. He makes GCC not feel so terrible. I always enjoy Mr. Reed's classes. As long as you show up to class, do the homework, and READ the coursework (as with any subject you are learning), you'll pass the class!

Definitely not an easy A, so you NEED be interested in the subject. Luckily, Prof. Reed teaches smoothly, systematically, and most importantly, enthusiastically so its hard not to get excited. Both his mid terms and final are based off his slides on canvas, but read the text for your own benefit and quizzes. Every lecture was an absolute honor.

Prof. Reed is an awesome professor, but his class is difficult. You really have to put in a lot of work and do a lot of outside studying, hw, reading, etc. You cannot merely pass this class simply by attending. His tests are also realllllllly, realllly hard.

Fantastic professor who makes Geo 106: Human Impact on the Environment, which is a real world issue very important. His class contains lots of reading with assignments but nothing too bad. A great person, and very caring both about what he teaches and his students as well.

If you want to learn more about geography and life in general, take his class! He really knows his stuff, and he's able to share his travel experiences to help his students understand what the class is talking about more. This is a real college class! I really feel like I'll be ready for University work and beyond.

Hes a Brown University graduate with exceptional life stories. He always provides examples of the world so students can understand better. Youll learn SO MUCH! He is enthusiastic in delivering lectures and it makes me remember the topics even after its over. Geo 101 youll learn: how the earth works (atmosphere,wind,storms,climate,rocks&volcano)

THE BEST! I took 2 classes with him this semester and never regret it. After passing two classes with him I feel more knowledgeable because I actually learned something and not only for the grade. In Geo 102 he covered human geography, it includes: world populations, cultures, race, ethnicity, language, religion, migration, etc. Take him!!

Out of all my sucky professors this past semester Reed was the diamond in the rough haha! He is lecture heavy but he cares and you will learn. During the pandemic he was the only professor I had with some common sense! He cares about his students and curved tests along with allowing you to drop a few quizzes. A solid class all around!!

The real deal. Lenient on grading. Very educated and passionate towards his line of work and field. You could be the most outspoken or reserved student, as long as you maintain your focus towards the lectures and your studies, Youll do just fine. Professor Reed will also drop your two lowest performing quizzes or assignments.

I took his class in winter 2019. His lectures were interesting and fun. Mr. Reed clearly explained the information. He showed us videos related to what we've learned. He gave extra credit if students found typos in the textbook. Quizzes seemed simple.

I took Geog 110 with Professor Reed during Fall 2020. He is passionate about Geography and it shows in his teaching and lectures. He is a fair grader, and he outlines from the start that you need to study and be present for lectures and you will pass. He was always quick and willing to respond and help those students that reached out.

He is an amazing professor and learned so much in his class. Make sure you are always paying attention or else you may miss valuable information.

The test questions are meant to see how much you understand the material and how to use them outside of class. At the end of each chapter, there are words you need to define and understand which are easy by the way. The professor also accesses PowerPoint and the textbook. There is homework that helps you to write ONE paper or a mindmap.

Professor Reed had amazing lectures that made me understand the material clearly. His office hours were also extremely helpful and he was so nice and understanding.

Fall 2020. Professor Reed is very passionate about the subject he teaches. The class is lecture heavy. There are a lot of open book quizzes, two midterms and a final, all of which are multiple choice. It's easy to pass the class as long as you do everything he tells you to do, but you need to work for an A.

One of the GREATEST professors I've taken at GCC. He provides useful supplemental materials like PP slides and articles for us to understand better. He is hilarious and very punctual in each class session and his class is well-organized and you'll probably learn ALOT. Make sure to read the textbook he assigns and attend EVERY class.

I really enjoyed Professor Reeds class because it was very straightforward. All the answers to the tests are found in the textbook so make sure you print out the textbook pages to use during the tests online. The country research essay was very easy if you make the weekly research assignments detailed.

Professor Reed was a little tough on the final essay but he honestly provides good feedback to your other writing assignments and it prepares you a lot for the final. He's not my favorite kind of person, but he has good intentions. You can really tell he actually cares ab geography lol. A lot of it is easy to understand, all you do is process info.

Overall one of if not the best professor I've had so far. I have no intention to pursue Geography past this course but Professor Reed made it interesting. Incredibly difficult class!!! but somehow worth it? He's very transparent, easy to talk to, and open to helping. Don't expect to ace his tests or understand everything. Had to study an insane amount, but the cheat sheets were so helpful, and the textbook is amazing. He also had a lot of helpful links, videos, and sites to help outside of class.

Went into it not really expecting much, but I learned a lot with him. Super down to earth guy, and really understanding if you need help. He went off topic and sometimes his explanations don't clear much, so you're going to have to refer to your textbook A LOT. Overall, just study, stay on top of your work, write good notes and you'll pass.

The coolest professor at GCC. He often talks about his day, making the lectures much more captivating. Shows great awareness of the cultural backgrounds of his students, which ties greatly with the subject of cultural geography. At the same time manages to be super informative about geography, You'll leave the class with a lot of new knowledge.

This was an amazing class. I took his geography 101 and 111 class and I thoroughly enjoyed them both. Mr. Reed makes lectures easy to understand and yet full of detail. The tests are very similar to the practice tests on Canvas, and if you study and do your work you will pass the class. He cares about students, and clearly loves his job. 10/10

I took Geo101 for the winter semester, his class was not easy. I read every chapter assigned and studied a lot. What helped me the most was the practice tests on canvas that he posts and the index card that we were able to use for the actual exam, like a cheat card. He also gives out extra credit which helped my grade a lot. I liked the class.

Professor Reed has been one of the best teachers I have come across at GCC and has inspired me with my passion in sciences! He gives clear and informative lectures that help with the labs and the required field trip was a fun experience. He's very passionate about the topic and if you follow along and put in the work it'll rub off on you as well.

Stunned that his rating isn't higher. To this day he's by far the best professor I've had at GCC. If you can be put off by one comment you don't agree with, or refuse to challenge yourself or sit through uncomfortable conversations, then maybe one of the crappier professors who doesn't care about the material they teach will suit your needs better.
