Rich is a damn good teacher! He knows his stuff. I enjoyed his class and his humor really made time fly by. Stay on top of things and you'll do fine. Just dont skip his class. He's ruthless to those who dare. Great personal experiences and advice for all.

He is an amazing teacher. He keeps the class motivated and doesn't take any crap. This is the second class I've taken with him. I would recommend taking him. He covers everything he puts on the tests and there's no excuse for a bad grade. He is amazing.

Dont expect an A here, he doesnt give out many. Hes a good teacher and is funny, but DO NOT take his class if you dont like to be singled out, as he does it often. I didnt like the class subject matter at all, but I liked Michael Rich as a teacher.

dr. rich is an excellent lecturer, and in phil 55, which was a -morning- class, i actually attended over half the lectures, which is just about a standing record, really. i'd love to take a few more courses with mr. rich, just for the fun of it all...

Dr. Rich is amazing. His teaching style is so engaging. He makes you want to learn about Logic and Critical Thinking. As long as you go to every class, take notes, study them 3 TIMES a week, you will do great. I got A's on both tests, because of that.

GREAT teacher. I'll be back for sure. Just memorize your notes. You will remember them forever. to the utilitarian "an act is correct in so far as is produces, on balance more pleasure..." it's been a year, and I still remember!

I loved his class. His teaching style makes the class fun and I actually looked forward to going. He is funny and very engaging, it is hard to not like the class. If I had to take anymore Phil. classes I would take them with him.

By far the best teacher I have ever had. Not the easiest class but definatly the most interesting. If you get the oppertunity, TAKE THIS CLASS! He does pick on ppl and you have to pay attention, but its worth it.

Dr. Rich, your class opened my eyes to a completely different world. You're just the tiniest bit repetitive. But, it was by far that class I learned the most from. So I have a haiku (5-7-5) for Jesus' philosophy: "It's not about lent./The Son of Man will kill you/If you don't repent."

I'm a college instructor now. I took Dr Rich for Phil of teaching. I still refer to him as "my-b**philosphy teacher" He doesn't teach he performs, students don't learn they memorize, they don't debate they walk into traps. The only thing I use in my own class is this motto "never multiply your work"

One of the best teachers I have ever had. He teaches not only about phil but about life. He makes you want to come to class and you will enjoy it while there. Rich is one teacher you'll never forget and his classes are ones where you'll actually learn and remember the material.

This teacher is interesting, but he is a cocky SOB. He is also very hard. He thinks everything he says is the only thing that matters.

He totally cares about his students & teaches very well. He knows what he is talking about, always comes to class prepared, and is willing to help anyone that needs it. If you pay attention in class (which is not hard because it's VERY entertaining), and study your notes, you will do very well.

I have never enjoyed a class as much as this one. Not only do you learn alot about the subject but you learn even more about life. I was sad to say goodbye to him and miss the class still.

Well what really can be said about Michael Rich? I am pretty sure the only thing that kept me going to that class was his wild ways and crazy stories. Get ready to write because as he says he will "work your fingers to the bone!"(or something like that) One of the best classes Ive taken so have fun!

Very intimidating at first! But get through the first day and you got it made. A lot of notes are taken everyday so come to class prepared. Go over your notes three times a day or your screwed!

Hi Michael! Dr. Rich interprets philosophy by comparing to, situations/choices we as people deal with in daily life. “If you don’t study your notes 3x a week, you will be…SCREWED!” Michael helps to make philosophy easier to understand, and makes understanding fun. “Oh! Excellent teaching style. Really cares about students learning even though he tries to act hardcore and be tough sometimes. You have to study your booty off in Reason and Religion but Phil2 is more laid back with more funny stories which are great for later conversation with your friends. Haha! ;)

I was told to take this class by a friend He told me I would get more out of this class than any class id ever had he said i would actually WANT to go to class and listen and take notes: he was right! this class is what college is all about you will come out a smarter better person TAKE THIS CLASS

Wow, I wish I looked forward to attending classes for my major as much as Michael's class. I also wish I had taken critical thinking with him instead of Greg Tropea (worst decision ever). Michael makes the material interesting and relevant to your life. Highly recommend this class.

i love his class, i dont miss one day. he made me see life in a new way and tought me how i can have a good life. the only down side was i realized i did not wont to be with my girlfriend after his class. like i said, a new way to look at the way your life is, and what it could be.

Very cool guy a little intense has awesome stories. I liked his class a lot and I didnt' miss a day if you have good attendance you will do well on his tests.

Very interesting class. Can't miss a day and should keep up with assignments. Tests are a little more difficult than you might think, but not too bad. He is a VERY picky grader and thinks C is average, therefore that's what he thinks most students deserve.

Most awe inspiring and intense teacher I've had thus far! Do not be fooled by his intimidating demeanor. Go to class, take good notes, and follow the pointers on "how to get an A" you'll be great. Worth every second and you'll be bummed if miss one day. Not majoring in Phil but looking forward to taking critical thinking just for kicks next sem.

dr. rich...what more can i say other than he is extremely opinionated! has his own unique teaching style, but very interesting. keeps you on your toes and expects you to be there! easy homework...tests are directly from the lectures. i learned a lot!

This was probably one of the most interesting classes I took at Chico, and one where I learned the most that was outside my major. It wasn't easy, but it really made me think and was worth my time.

Very entertaining, excellent teacher. Difficult tests, and don't yawn or look at your watch. He'll freak.

Really study becuase he doen't joke around if you don't know your****. Doesn't really like greeks, and is very agnostic. Don't try to make a point or agrue with him because it's impossible to win the battle. He knows his stuff and doesn't hold back.

very good lectures. study and you wont have a problem. nice man. you have two test in in class papers, no problem, do your homework. he assigns reading material and you answer given questions about the material read, about 4. he grades wehather you attempted to answer the question, you get full credit wheather you are correct or not. sp just do your homework to the best of your ability and turn it in!

This guy is hilarious. Great guy and knows his stuff. If you get him you'll learn a lot that is helpful in life. He is very blunt and offeneds people, but he means good.

I've taken 2 of Michael's classes & he is definitely the best teacher I've ever had. He can be intimidating at first, but he's very funny, personable & understanding. He's knowledgable about the subject matter. I learned SO much from him & would HIGHLY recommend taking any of his classes. I wish I could have him for all my subjects! LOL

Dr. Rich is a great professor. He enjoys what he teaches and does it well! His class is not simple, but with alittle effort, good notes and studying of terms one can do well in this class. He makes each day exciting and makes PHIL interesting. This class teaches you how to notice a good argument and will help you in future classes.

Rich has an entertaining sense of humor and was always able to keep my attention. It's obvious he's passionate about this subject and teaching. I was never tempted to skip a class... he hardly gives any homework but be ready to take lots of notes

One of the best teachers I have ever had. He tests the way you think. This class is effortless if you come to class and pay attention. The tests are straigh forward. Listen to what he says, all of it! I would take this class again for fun if I could. Anyone who has anything poor to say is bitter because they didn't come to class and failed.

This class was interesting for sure, everyone should take it. He is really funny. However he picked on me every day I came to class because I missed a few classes and I'm a girl, but I just thought it was funny for the most part. Wasn't too hard.

I highly suggest Prof Rich. The first few classes, he might seem arrogant and a prick, but it's well worth it as time goes on. Most straighforward teacher I've ever had and a good guy once you get to know him. CLASS NOTES are KEY!!

Funniest teacher by far at this university, wont take Philo 102 until i can get him as my teacher. I always look forward to class because he makes it very exciting and enjoyable to attend. tests are easy and his study guides sum it all up to make it easier for us. Best teacher here.

Michael Rich is one of the best teachers I've ever had. He's a lot of fun and he keeps the class interesting, even when the material is boring. Going to class is important and taking good notes is essential to getting a good grade. I've had him for two classes now and I loved both of them! His PHIL 101 class will change your life!

This guy is crazy, but he is a good teacher. Pretty easy class. Dont be late. Try to get the class in a big lecture hall because he will call people out in the smaller classes. No homework.

Crazy guy. He is also very funny. Not afraid to pick on kids but he picks on everyone so its funny. Dont take what he says too seriously, and dont be afraid to throw it back at him. Uses funny examples, but his quizzes were kinda hard. Looked foward to going to his class to see what crazy thing he was going to say.

Great teacher, great class. It is a rare teacher that can keep 100+ students engaged during a 1.5 hour lecture and Dr Rich has got it going on. I would definitely re-take this class. Take notes, pay attention, come to class - you won't want to miss class.

Very interesting professor! He's a funny guy and his lectures will keep you entertained even if Philosophy isn't your thing. Attendance isn't mandatory but I wouldn't recommend missing a class. Take EXCELLENT notes because his tests have at least 25 true & false questions. I literally memorized 8 pgs of notes for each test, but it got me A's.

If you are socially awkward forget about it cause he'll tear you apart. Get in there, be confident and contribute to the class and he'll respect you. I've never had such a captivating professor and I believe Professor Rich has much to teach the entire college system with his methods. Perhaps the best teach at Chico State.

Outstanding teacher. His energetic lectures and stories are simply HILARIOUS & educational. He makes fun of students often, but its great. As long as you are competent in writing and understanding, you will thrive. His tests are perhaps too easy, they are T or F. Yet I guess if you retain the information is whats important. Michael is a very awesome teacher! Sometimes you feel like: Why is he talking about this? its totally irrelevant. But he has a way of connecting everything. His teaching style is awesome and keeps you interested. His stories are also pretty interesting as well!

Reason and Religion is great! Rich is fun, smart, and snarky. Be ready for some controversial statements and deep thinking about faith and religious beliefs. Heavy use of packet, no actual use of the "Jesus" book (I think it's a waste. Share a copy or buy used.) Tests are straight forward, based on class lectures.

This teacher is really laid back. This doesn't mean he doesn't give work because he does. This teacher is very easy and down to Earth. He is VERY willing to help you in ANY way possible. Need to take freshman seminar? Take this teacher!
