you dont need to buy the book for risso's econ10a or 10b class because all he grades on are tests and all of his tests are straight from his notes so you must attend class everyday, also because he takes attendence and hes pretty strict about attendance.
Easy class. Just take notes and pay attention.
He teaches straight from his own notes, so the book is not needed (do not waste the money). Show up every lecture, as he gives many surprise opportunities for extra credit. Take good notes and study them before tests and you'll get an A or B, no problem.
Took him for intercession- 3 hours a day, 5 days a week. Kinda a dry subject, but he attempts to make it interesting. DONT BOTHER BUYING THE BOOK!!! Attend all class session for the extra credit assignments. Easy A!
This guy is very weird. He eats cough drops like candy. You learn about 10% of the material and he writes so small on the board and very unorganized when discussing his lectures. Dont buy the book it is a waste of money. Bad Teacher.
DONT BUY THE BOOK! Pretty good teacher...if you take good notes. just be aware that this guy is a weirdo, and when he does that crazy look with his eyes...he's okay. Whatever you do DONT BUY THE BOOK!
he's a cool guy i guess. class is easy. take good notes and you'll pass. tests are easy with good notes. DON'T BUY THE BOOK! will never need it!
good teacher. easy class, show up to class and take good notes. kidna strict on attendance.
take notes. kinda wierd. very strict on attendance. for 10b know barrier to entry didnt answer it on the final (only test in the class) and still got a B
Took him over the intersession. He may seem hard and it is difficult to understand his material. Just study his notes, especially the stuff he seems to repeat constantly. You'll do fine. He's pretty easy. No need for book.
Easy! Take notes and you're good. Weirdest little man I've ever seen though. My bro took his class 4 years ago and hasn't stopped doing impersonations. Cool guy though.
SAVE YOUR MONEY AND DONT BUY THE BOOK. his exams are straight from his lectures. copy what he writes on the board and a little of what he says about it on your notes since he may not write it all on the board. easy class if you attend class to take note
dont need the book. come to class everyday. he makes you do little exercises as a way to take attendance. tests are easy. i just never came to class..he's pretty boring and repeats himself alot.
organize lecture, good examples for clarification, quiz each day but it barely count in the end. midterm and final was easy if u study the notes. write notes!!!!
Class is very boring. Remember this quote " Come on up if you hear your name." Show up everyday, guarantees you a C or better. This guy is cranky, so do not do anythin to upset him. Dont talk, dont ask question, dont leave early!!
Show up everyday and you will pass the class. This guys is a serious weirdo, so dont do anything to upset the guy. He talks to himself, and is a very sarcastic guy. He reminds me of a little elf. Dont buy the book!!
micro econ i got a c and macro i got an A. he was meaner and harder the first time around (10b) but seemed to lighten up when i had 10a 2 yrs later. DONT BUY THE BOOK!!! come to class there is almost always extra credit and lecture notes=test answers!!!
Go to class and BE ON TIME, take notes, DONT TALK, and attempt every quiz at the end and every question on the final and this is a guarenteed C already. Getting the questions on the final right will determine if youll get an A/B. But hey, its good to know the lowest is a C as long as u show up.
Be there on time try all the test and do all the questions he gives you at the end of class. IF you have the wrong answer he will still give you some credit for tRying. SO JUST LISTEN AND PAY ATTENTION AND YOU'LL GET A "B". I GOT A "B" FOR BOTH 17A AND 17B. "AND DON'T BUY THE BOOK."
Mr. Risso Rocks!@ His jokes are hilarious and he's so weird because he's so smart. He repeats the same thing over and over until you literally have dreams about it. He made me interested in learning more about stocks and the economy. I recommend this class to people are not lazy idiots-most of you r

he is a very easy, smart, funny, and interesting. I find him to be very entertaining and he uses real life examples to make economics understandable.
VERY weird guy! talks to himself lots. takes attendance into account a lot, which he takes with extra-credit quizzes at the end of class. basically no book, and he writes down everything you need to know on the board, so just take good notes for the tests. his tests are random, so just be there.
HE WAS SO BORING. I had to battle myself to stay awake! Everyday it's the same thing with the attendence. He walks over to the wall and leans on it and babbles away for what seems to be an eternity. I would say don't take him if you can't handle BORING!
Very boring class but fairly simple. No homework whatsoever. The quiz and exams are in essay format but he gives you credit as long as you write something. I didn't even buy the book or take much note and passes the class with a B.

Dis class is very boring but easy 2 pass. If u really want 2 learn da subject den take another teacher but if u just want 2 slide by take dis class. Just do everything n all ur work. I WOULD NOT TAKE dis CLASS during regular session its 2 boring n long. Take it durin summer or intersession: u will pass. Attendance is important 2 pass n no book!!
bad teacher. i went to class everyday and did all the extra credit. he pretty much based everything on the final. he just rambles in class. you learn nothing. don't take him.
Its very easy. U dont even have to show...oh and dont buy the book trust me
BORING, DOENST MAKE SENSE, WIErD GUY
This teacher just talk about the samething over and over. You dont need to buy the book. Everyone pass with a C or better even if you dont do anything. Tests you cant get less then a C.
Risso is a really easy teacher. He can be really funny sometimes too, if you stay awake long enough past the boring parts. his jokes are hilarious and its awesome when he bashes on taxes, the government, and the yearly loan pool, and you can almost tell by the tone of his voice that its getting very personal....LOL
THe good news: Don't need to buy the book, test are soooo freakin easy, attendance is worth 1/3 of your grade, you get extra credit every class, not homework, and no assignments. THe easiest grade you'll ever get! THe bad news: the most boring class of all time!!! and its always cold in this classroom.
SOOOO easy, just go to class, copy down whatever he writes on the board and do the extra credit question he asks at beginning of the class. As long as you go to class, you get an easy A. Study night before and YYOU DONT NEED THE BOOK EVER!! i bought it and never opened it. Class is boring though..due to him.
Great teacher DONT BUY THE BOOK nice guy but don't be late to class. Basically unless you are retarted you will pass this class! And Risso is hot!!!

hes a @#$!%$ enough said
He is not clear in his teaching, but its a easy A class.I just took the intersession class and got an A.I only studied the night before final.Write down whatever he writes in the board its gonna be on the test.no need of the BOOK.as he is not clear,I read those definitons from website.oh attendance is a must in his class.and aslo don;t be late.
Class is easy as A$$. gotta show up EVERYDAY and ON TIME if you want an A because attendance is 30% of the class grade. there is no need for a book because everything he writes on the board is on his tests. make sure you dont cut either; at the end of EACH day, he gives extra credit. all answers for ec come from what he writes on the board also
I took him for 10 A last summer... and i got a C because didnt understand *beep :) i just took him again for 17 B over intercession... & finally understood him! I actually understood! Hes soo easy! and i loved the class... i learned alot about inflation...which was pretty intresting!! =D
This is my all time favorite teacher. Yeah he doesn't like it when people talk loud in the middle of a lecture. He is the smartest most reasonable teacher at EVC!! Oh and don't buy the book everything in the tests is in your notes :)
Very easy teacher. Did not learn anything though. Don't need a book for the class, everything is in the lecture and on the board. Extra credit given at the end of everyday. Very boring class and very boring lecture, all he does is whine and complain about the rich and gas. All exam questions are from the lecture and board. Easy A.
went to class, took notes and pay attention. did good on the final yet i still got a C. strange. all i know is this class is a guarentee C. if i take him for econ 10b for sure i'm gonna sleep and take down SOME notes. then just do whatever on the final and see what random grade he's gonna give. this is a C and better class if u show up.
Mr. Risso is a really sweet teacher as long as you don't disrupt his lectures. If you show him respect he will do the same for you. His lectures are a little boring but I dont blame him, I blame economics. If you listen you are sure to pass. Hes a really great guy.
Very moody teacher. Super small handwriting, usually fills up whole bored with junk. During finals, he writes all the questions on the board, so make sure you bring your glasses. Don't ever let him catch you talk in class, he will point you out and yell in your face. I did not learn anything in class. EASY A/B.
Very boring lectures but if you take the notes from the board it is very easy to pass. I didnt study for even one test and i still got an A in the class. Dont buy the book. all test material is from lecture.
Man, Risso is such a character. Has a quirky sense of humor, goes off on weird tangents...he has this very glazed eye look when he's lecturing, he looks at the corner of walls or something. Don't sit in the back because it's a pain in the ass to see the board. But otherwise he's great, easy easy class, easy A.
This class is entirely lecture, with an extra credit question at the end of every class related to the subject matter. You also get extra credit for attendance. There is only a midterm and a final, & all extra credit is added onto those scores. This class can be easy IF you pay attention, take notes, STUDY for the tests, & get the extra credit.
Very odd teacher. Class is mandatory because his test are all based on lecture. Text isn't necessary. Lecture is EXTREMELY BORING! Try to stay up or be really good at BSing and you'll pass the test. If you want to learn then don't take him. If your looking for an easy A then take him.
this guy is weird. i mean really weird... uhh dont bother buying the book, you will get all the information from lecture. go to class take notes and get an A. every day an extra credit assignemnt worth only like .008 points (told you he was weird) also extra credit for attendance i think... one midterm and two finals (essay from lecture...
This is by far two of the easiest As I have ever earned. The mistake that people make in his class is think that just because there are no assighments theat they dont have to show up everyday. WRONG Even though there are no assighments, he practically bases 40% of your grade on being in class on time everyday. If you cant do that take someone else.
Good guy. All you have to do is take notes and listen. Book is not needed. Make sure you pay attention and know how to BS because the quiz willk require that.
omgah DON'T buy the book. If you can stay up, come to class, and BS long paragraphs on your final... pretty much guaranteed A. He's VERY VERY boring but you'll survive.
easy class since you can just snooze through the boring lectures, take notes, show up to every class meeting & you'll for sure get an A. Also, don't need to buy a book. This class is great during summer & intersession since economic is a VERRRRY boring subject.
worst teacher i have ever had. make no sense. boring. he will not allow anyone to talk besides him. you cannot ask questions or contribute to the subject. bad teacher
You don't need the book, so that is a plus. You can pretty much bs your way through his class which is another plus. Aside from that he is really boring, he does not let anyone else talk, and sometimes it is hard to know what he is talking about because he goes off on a lot of little tangents.
Best teacher @EVC. Econ can be extremely boring but he made it interesting. Book not require, no HW, extra credit for showing up to class. What else could you ask for? Only negative is that he will not pause for you to ask questions. Show up, pay attention, take notes and you will pass with an A/B easily. I've learned a lot from his classes.
Super EASY class. I got an A and most of the time I didnt know what he was talkin abt. On test jus wrote really long parg. and repeated what he said in lectures or jus bs it. Dont be late cuz he doesnt like it and no book needed. @ end of class extra credit everyday by answering a question on the lecture. If u want 2 learn dont take his class.
He hates late people. Class is pretty much take notes and do quiz. Interesting & Boring on some days. Extra credit ?s at the end of each day. Study ur notes like How?,What?,When? Why? & etc will help you on the quiz. This class is pretty much is an easy A without thinking that you are getting an A. Write long on the quiz ?s so u get more points.
really great professor. includes many references and examples. makes the class laugh too. just take TONS of notes and take note of what he's writing on the board. book not required at all. very smart and reasonable. don't interrupt him. show up to every class.
awesome guy! attendance is mandatory. HW is never assigned. just take lots of notes. dont ever buy the book. hes respectful to his students unless you give him a reason not to be. so hes very fair. econ.=a boring subject, but he always attempts to make it interesting & makes the class laugh often.but dont show up reallllly late! he hates it.
nice/funny guy. SMART/reasonable. he'll respect u if u respect him. but he'll call u out & get mad if u show up to class EXTRA LATE or disrupt him during his lecture in front of everyone in a quirky way. LOL!text not needed. to pass: SHOW UP (attendence is 1/3 of grade),pay attention & TAKE NOTES. class is ALL lecture: very detailed/interesting.
Easy class as long as you attend class and takes notes. He gives a quiz everyday at the end of class and attendance is a big part of your grade. Some of his lectures are interesting if you can keep yourself awake because econ is a boring subject. But overall take him if you want a good grade.
he looks like barry gibb, lead singer of the beegees, but shorter. take notes and don't buy the book. he's a knowledgeable professor. don't be late and don't miss class that much.
Looks like Danny Bonaduce
mr. risso is pretty cool. this is my second time tking him. no hw just go to class take down everything on the board & you will do awesome! he will get very mad if you interrupt him or do something that annoys him. other than that dont buy the book & be nice!
i think he's a bad teacher. I attened all the classes and still ended up droping it. His lectures are not helpful at all. DONT TAKE HIM if you plan on taking Econ 10A or dont take him period.
Does a fair job at keeping things interesting. No HW, and no book needed. Easy class if you pay attention and take notes. Make sure you turn your cell off though, because he will ridicule you if you have a ringtone that he thinks is ridiculous. I feel bad for the student last semester whose phone rang.. Let's just say he wont make the same mistake
not a very good teacher at all. did not learn anything and not interesting. he said he hates teaching but he gotta do it to make the money. Do not take him. very useless and LOTS of time wasting
I took him for his 745 Macroeconomics class. It seems brutal but if you can drudge yourself up from bed it's not too bad. Don't talk. Ever. He will tell you shut up, no joke. Don't buy the book. All his tests are based on lecture. If you come to class, take notes, you'll be fine.
wouldnt complain about this class cuz there is no hw assigned & u dont even need to buy the book.u can eeeasily chill in class & work on other assignments & get an A. risso is pretty funny sometimes. lec. can get boring tho. take down the stuff that he repeats over & over cuz it will be on the exam. simple as that. dont be tardy n a pain in the ass
Took him for ECON10A and 10B. The subject is very dry and he lectures the entire class. Goes off topic and skips around a lot. Take good notes (he writes everything on the board) and study before the test, and you should do well. He gives an extra credit question at the end of every class, so attendance is important. No homework, book not required.
Econ 10B over the summer was so boring w/him but as long as you show up, take notes, and review the things he emphasizes, there's no way you can't get an A.
This man is an insane idiot. He calls you out if you come in late and if you talk in class. HE WILL Embarrass YOU. His class is pretty chill, just bring your laptop so you'll keep busy. He's extremely boring. in the end I got a B for not learning anything at all.
This is by far the easiest class I have ever taken (yes, high school included). Risso's class everyday consists of the same routine: lecture and short answer question at the end (counts for extra credit). He is an easy grader. I admit that it is hard to stay awake + his rambling but totally worth an A+ for!
We had exactly 1 quiz and a final. I could not gauge what the hell was going on or where I stood the whole class. I missed ONE day, the day before the final, and there was like 20% of the content we cover on that day before on the final. Really Risso? Do yourself a favor and take micro at SJC if he's the only option at EVC.
Attendance is 1/3 of your grade, theres extra credit question given at the end of class and will help boost your grade tremendously! There was a couple of "quizzes" (final) on the last 2 days of class during summer. EASY QUESTIONS! Basically what he rants and repeats during lecture. CLASS IS ALL LECTURE!!! no need to talk to the person next to u.
His class was so easy. All you have to do is go to his class and make sure you know what you are talking about when you answer the questions he gives out at the end of class (extra credit). and his tests were super easy! took him last winter and i got an A. He doesnt like it when people are late and when people let the door slam shut.
If you want an easy A dont be stupid. All you have to do is go to every class, sit and write down anything he writes on the board, itll be on the tests.NEVER! talk to another student during class(he will embarrass you)and try your BEST not to be late. Hes a little crazy but Im sure you can get a good grade just by going to class.
Good teacher.
His lectures may be intimidating, but if you go to every class, you'll notice that he repeats major concepts ... like everyday. Also, there is no homework! There is extra credit at the end of each class, but they aren't worth much. BUT, you should do the questions anyway--they pretty are the questions that will be on the test.
"This class is closed, there are no adds" is what he writes on the first day...HE DOES NOT TAKE WAITLIST PPL! Class is easy. St down and copy everything on the board. Tests are essay but the same as the stuff he talks in class. Easy A, no joke. BOOK NOT NEEDED
Listen to what he tells you, take notes, and whatever he repeats will be on the final exam. Don't move things around the room, close the doors or open them unless you ask him, ask him questions, or he'll get pissed or point you out. Great professor! Easy A and he makes the class very interesting :) I definitely recommend him!
Very boring but easy class. Come to class regularly to do a short quiz at the end. 2 exams with about 15-16 questions each. Copy down all from the board and memorize them. Exams are close note, close book. Not easy to get A if you don't study.
BOOOOORINGGGG
It's as if were not even sitting here....all he does is talk, and talk, and talk, and NOT once will ask us questions or give eye contact, he speaks in mono tone, he's so boring, I think he would be a great teacher if only he changed his teaching ways. AND he doesn't like when people walk in late or go bathroom, AND he's always making weird jokes
Good lecturer however no time for questions besides roughly 8 minutes at the end (if he let people ask q's I think he would have no time to teach). Cool guy though and pretty funny. Course is a bit complex so put in the studying time. I you take good notes there is no need for the book.
Show up to class (and on time!!!), take notes, pay attention, and you will do well in his class! I enjoyed his class. He does a great job explaining things, and even made me laugh a few times. He knows his stuff. There is no real need to purchase the book, and there is no homework to be turned in.
Hands down, one of the most underrated professors I have ever had. He is crystal clear when lecturing and he goes over the concepts daily. He believes in giving students exams based on what he teaches in class so listen to him.
Risso is easily the most confusing professor I had at Evergreen. He is rude and awkward, and his lectures are written on-the-fly. His quizzes are graded on a massive curve, which testifies to how poorly he presents the material. He glances over key terms with reckless abandon. Don't take his class.
If you come to class and listen, you will pass with an easy A. Most of the time he lectures about theories and then ask questions about them on his test. The textbook was irrelevant and not needed. His lectures are long but if you are into cheesy humor. He can make you crack up once in awhile.
Could be easy but if you're trying to learn or a nice time in class, DO NOT TAKE HIM. This guy is an awfully depressing teacher. He makes lame jokes about how the world is messed up and the generation is spoiled, and how his life is so hard. There is literally no class interaction, questions aren't welcomed. Likes to make snide remarkscomments.
Very clear during the lectures and tries to add a little humor (although he did get a little scattered in the end). Became really interested in economics after taking this class! Gives in depth examples during lecture to make you understand it better. Doesn't give many tests and DOES NOT assign homework (which makes it tricky to raise your grade).
It's important to write down whatever is on the board. Be sure to stay awake during his lectures because whatever scenarios he talks about WILL be on the quizzes. He also gives a daily question that will help boost your grade.
His daily question that you turn in resemble the tests, but it isn't clear if you should write out everything since the thought didn't occur when he turns in the questions back. The tests need to be answered fully, even if it seems redundant. For example the answer to supply and demand stuff, you have to write out inc and dec in income for 2 lists.
Easy A.. only paid attention once in a while when he talks about a new topic. He knows his stuff, but he doesn't really explain things clearly. Quizzes are given at the end of each class as a way to check for attendance but are extra credit. Final was based on what he said and emphasized during lecture. No homework. Don't bother buying the textbook
Lectures are incredibly boring due to the subject material and lack of student participation. He does not engage students while lecturing- will not make eye contactlook at students while lecturing. Majority of the class were on their phones. Quizzes are given out at the end of class for E.C based off lecturecurrent events. NO TEXTBOOK NEEDED.
THIS PROFESSOR IS HORRIBLE. HIS LECTURES ARE LONG AND TEDIOUS. AFTER EVERY CLASS SESSION HE GIVES OUT AN "EXTRA CREDIT" ASSIGNMENT THAT IS WORTH LESS THAN A POINT BUT APPARENTLY STACKS TO BETTER ASSIST YOUR FINAL GRADE, HE ONLY HAS 1 MIDTERM AND 1 FINAL AND YOUR ANSWERS BETTER BE LONG AND PRECISELY WHAT HE'S LOOKING FOR. I WOULD 10/10 NOT RECOMMEND
Professor Risso knows a lot about economics; however, his way of teaching the class is not really helpful! His lectures are long and there's no interaction whatsoever with the students!
Second time taking him. He's an awesome lecturer and really knows his stuff. Show up to class and you will pass. Do every assignment that he gives after class. I suggest to not be late, that's his pet peeve. Overall, would take him again. Exams are hand written format. Listen to his lecture because that's basically what will be on the test!
This class drove me nuts, but some how I got an A. Super lecture heavy, often makes no sense at all, extra credit is also practically pointless (+.01). If you want to pass? Don't skip class, DO NOT be late, write as much down as you can. If you can do this and be patient, you'll survive.

I took this class over Summer & let me just say his lectures are HEAVY. It's so hard to pay attention because he rambles a lot. Try to pay attention though because there's a quiz (extra credit) at the end of every day. During the Summer session you just get credit for being there, taking the quizzes, &then 2 Final quizzes the last 2 days, no notes.
READ THIS CAREFULLY. Taking him currently for both ECON10A and ECON10B. If you show up late, you WILL not get an A. This is bc all crucial info is written on whiteboard then *ERASED* within first 10min of class. **SHOW UP ON TIME**, write down the "critical info" on board(he doesn't even mention this info b4 erasing), then use laptop til class ends
Professor Risso is overall a good professor. He is really smart and extremely easy. I was a little bummed because he didn't go into as much detail as I would have liked. If econ is your major, you might not learn as much from him. He seems distant at first but if you go up to him and talk to him after class you'll realize he knows a lot.
Took him for 10A and then 10B over the summer and this is what I've learned. All the reviews are true - this class will drive you nuts. It's dry, but it's actually not hard - show up on time, PAY attention and take down the notes. Even though in class he seems unapproachable, if you talk to him outside after class, he's actually a really nice guy
He gets too into politics and doesnt actually teach the course also cheating is rampant in his tests via smartphone making it upsetting to me who doesnt
Professor Risso is by far the worse professor i've taken at EVC. He does not welcome questions and gets way too personal about his life and about politics. While I did pass the class it took a lot of effort to study and extra research because he can be all over the place. I feel EVC needs to hire a new professor for ECON b/c he's one of the few..
I took Econ 10A/Econ 10B Spring 2018 & I passed both w/ an A. he is all over the place when doing notes so in case you cant get everything down take PICTURES since he does erase the board & writing down his notes is CRUCIAL. He cant stand people being late & he gives extra credit for being on time & w/ the end of the day ? So attend is IMPORTANT!
One of the best professors I have had. Simple lectures, show up to class and you will do well in the class, he does not like tardiness. He has a lot of humor which makes attending class a real joy and something to look forward to. I especially liked how he connected course material with current which makes the material much easier to understand.
I just took his class, and he was a great professor. As long as you're on time every day, pay attention to his lectures, and take notes, you'll do fine. He gives a lot of examples and talks about current events, which helps relate the content to the real world. He knows a lot, and although he might seem scary, he's genuinely a really nice person.
He's a good professor. He can go off topic but still manage to teach the key points each day. Write everything on the board because they will be on the quizzes, midterm and final. Showing up to class is a must, you get extra credit points for being there. He uses those extra points on test and quizzes. to help your grade. Easy A to B Class.
Funny guy! He writes things on the board and gives lectures. Only had 3 "quizzes" in his class midterm and the final which was 2 parts. Gives extra credit questions at the end of class all the time about things he had on the board that day or weeks before. The extra credit goes towards your quizzes.
Good teacher! His tests are based on what he talks about in lectures only. I didn't buy the textbook and I passed. Just show up everyday write down everything that he puts on the white board and study that for the tests. There is no homework only three tests and after lecture questions based on your opinions that are graded as extra credit.
Very unhelpful and rude. Wont put the effort in to help students and is very strict with attendance. Dont expect learn to much because he just talks about random stuff in his life for 90% of class.
THE WORST TEACHER EVER! He talks more about politicians and his own personal life than the material (and then we are still required to do good on the tests) He talks for the whole time and barely any of it is about economics
I think i learned more about his cat than about the economy and how it works... I walked out of this class knowing none of the material that he WAS SUPPOSED TO TEACH
Just talked about his cat the whole time... but there were still tests (on the things that he didnt teach)
Off topic teacher, long and boring lectures, essay tests
Honestly believe all the negative reviews are from people who skipped class. In all seriousness, if you show up every day, listen to what he says and write down what he puts on the board, you'll pass with an A. The teacher talks about econ non-stop with an occasional story here or there, but which teacher doesn't do that?
I regret so much that why didn't I quit and choose another professor.....
Went off topic so so so many times. I didn't learn anything from this guy at all. Took him for intersession because he was the only one available. I had to miss the quiz and he made me write a 7 page paper. No guidelines or help and only have me this length requirement last minute.
don't waste time go with this teacher 10/10 listen to him and take 3 tests that's it
You don't learn anything in this class. Trust me.
No value provided. Boring as hell. No instructions and messy.
you won't learn or pass this class. recommend to not take this class. in fact, no one should be in this class.
Won't really learn much from this class. All you do is show up, listen to him talk about whatever he wants to talk about, then answer a question at the end. He doesn't really have a method of teaching, it's just what he wants to talk about. The book was never used, but it's an easy class if you pay attention.
This guy goes WAY off topic during lectures. If you actually want to learn the material or the definitions of any key terms, just read the textbook because you won't get a straight answer from him. His notes on the board, not to mention his whole teaching style, are extremely disorganized and challenging to follow. WOULD NOT recommend.
Took him for econ10a too! Easy professor in my opinion. He assigns weekly homework with questions to answer using his lecture (they can be long af). I usually get an average of a B. Im guessing he's very picking on the answers to get at least an A on it. Just do your work and the exam is just like the homework. Read lectures and answer questions.
Dont take this guy over intersession or for online in that matter. His lectures are literally just a wall of text that you have to read everyday. For instance one module day of "class" and I had to read 12 pages of brick wall text in order to answer these questions for hw. The reading also doesn't even contain all the info you need to answer the hw
Class isn't v. hard, but the lectures are long and kind of one big paragraph of like 1-8 pages. 1 weekly assignment which is usually 3-6 questions. Answers usually right in the lecture. Put in examples/explanations to get a good grade. Nice guy, pretty understanding about life. Just try not leave the hw for last minute. Would take King Risso again!
Every week u will have 1 assignment, which is 3-8 q's (turn in Friday). The "lecture" is basically 2-10 pages of a block of text. That's it. Seems like a lot of reading, but just use "Ctrl +F" to find key words from the questions. Make a Discord with classmates and help each other. Prof is really nice and understanding, funny! Love ya, King Risso!!
Is he on a personal challenge to see how long he can go without the Enter key? Since this is Econ, he should be paying us to read his humongous docs, or an hourly wage if you want to format them for him.
Econ 10A with Prof. Risso was easy and manageable! Did I learn much about economics? No. But Im not an Econ major anyways. Lecture-heavy; try to get ahead on reading ASAP. Only used textbook for 1 week out of the 6 weeks in class. 5-10 qs each week as HW. As long as you are thorough in your answers theres no reason you should get below an A.
very chill professor overall took him for Econ 010 A & B you read a lecture and some textbook pages and respond to some questions the answers are based off the lecture he gives you to read and sometimes videos/articles. Hes very helpful and gives detailed feedback!
There are long lectures that he gives every week and a total of 8 assignments including final which are all due every other week. They can be a bit long so make sure to do them asap and don't be afraid to ask for help. He's super enthusiastic and his lectures are funny. The only time I used the textbook was for defining a term.
poor communication
Very easy teacher. All you need to do is listen to his lecture and write notes and then he gives a question at the end of class that you need to turn in. You can get extra credit if you write a good answer. He doesnt give any homework. There is one test for the midterm and two tests for the final and theyre all free response and no mcq.
VERY EASY but you only learn what he feels like teaching. All of the Microeconomics topics were not covered; instead, we focused on a couple of things for a very long time. You have to be in class almost every day or else you won't pass. The tests were easy. You'll probably get a good grade in this class, but you won't actually learn anything.
If you are actually trying to learn more about Microeconomics, this may not be the class for you due to him covering the same topic over and over. Though if you are doing it for credits, go right ahead. Took him for Summer Intersession, and yes, his lectures may be boring, but I got through it.
He talks a lot during class, normally you come to his class will just listen for 1 hour 30mins. He will ask a question at the end of each class to take extra credit for test and exam and u need to listen to lectu . There will be 2 quizzes and one final exam. But the final exam and the 2nd quiz will both on the same final week (Tue and Thur) crazy.
He does not use canvas whatsoever, the entire grade is based off the midterm and the final. He goes over the same few topics all semester and is so disorganized with no curriculum plan. I would never take again or recommend
He is the worst professor I have ever taken. He doesn't ever use Canvas so you never know your grade in the class. Homework is worth only 0.1 points so it won't bring up your grade. There are only 3 tests and your entire grade is based on them. His tests are based on his opinions, not facts and no textbook. Don't take his class-even as last resort.
Do not take this professor for econ because he only tests you on things he wants. The question he gives at the end of the class is only wroth 0.1
He's amazing! Took both 10A and 10B with him. Really chill work to do.
Mr. Risso is the best professor! His lectures are very informative and you can tell by the way he talks that he's very passionate about teaching. 10/10 recommend! Just get to class on time, take notes, and study the textbook.
All of his classes are lecture heavy. He will ramble for hours, & hardly engage with the class. Listening to a economics podcast is more engaging than his class. Grade is determined by quizzes/final. Only take his class if you REALLY need the credit. Write down everything from the board and study your notes. Don't be late, or he'll cause a scene.
The lectures can get very repetitive and ramble-y, make sure you come in on time or else you may miss key concepts. He does not update canvas at all, and the only assignments you ever get are exit ticket questions that are only worth 0.1 pts, so your entire grade depends on the midterm+final. Felt VERY left in the dark the entire time.
Professor Risso's class is pretty chill. Just attend lectures, take notes, and use resources like unstuck ai alongside the textbook. Exams are free-response, no multiple choice. Overall, a solid class if you stay engaged.
This class is super easy. Risso is very old school, everything on paper, no canvas meaning you wont know your grade until the end. He does tend to go on tangents but his tests reflect on his lectures--if he didnt cover it then it wont be on the test. If you just need the econ credit but it isnt your major I'd say take the class.
Never used the textbook. Don't waste time buying it. You don't get homework. The midterms and final are handwritten by him and the lectures are really mid. He doesn't grade stuff till the last minute so throughout the semester, you won't know what your grade is till the end. Nobody participates in his class and it's always so quiet in there.
1. chill dude 2. light grader 3. Grading is completely reliant on class participation(QOTD), the midterm, and the final. 4. If you're meticulous, you'll be fine. If you're a laid-back student, you'll most likely struggle. 5. The textbook was useless, hardly decent when used for studying 6. Doesn't post grades
There are three things you are graded by: the classwork, the midterm, and the final. That is it. Lectures are very monotonous. Don't even bother with the textbook because you won't use it at all. You'll do fine if you show up to every lecture and actually pay attention. If you miss a few classes (3 or more), it will definitely make your grade drop.
I took him for Econ10A. Only assignment is going to class every time & answering one-three questions about his lecture at end of class. It's pretty easy, don't get the textbook you won't need it. It's important to not skip class because its the only assignment, your grade will go down. He's very very boring though, only con, talks all class...
