Best teacher in the world. I don't know how anyone can say he is not helpful. He MAKES sure in every class that everyone is understanding the material. Nicest guy ever also! He was the only stats teacher that gave students individual handouts in every lecture!

Rochon is a great prof, he makes sure his students understand wht he is explaining. Although his exams are not easy but as long as u attend all his classes u will be working towards an A. He is one prof to me who encouraged good work. Also in times of problems he will be an udersrtanding and rational person to talk .

I love this prof! I got an A just listening carefully to his lectures and practising a few questions. Best prof ever! Tip: for midterm, quizes, and exam rewrite on your reference sheet all terms including explanations at the end of each chapter (needed for multiple choice).

Great professor, explains linear programming and statistic concepts very well. However, he doesn't give out breaks in a 3hr lecture class; kinda hard to stick through the entire lecture. Exams are easy if you attend class and study, assignments are reasonable too. If you want to learn statistics the easy and good way, Rochon is the man.

Very clear in explaining Statistics. He's a very loud speaker which keeps the class interested. Having said that, this class is SO DIFFICULT! Even if you work super hard during the course, the M/C on the midterm and final exams are UNBEARABLE & UNFAIR. They contain the most random material. He is your best help at a good grade. Exams are dreadful!!

He is a good professor in terms of clarity. The problem is what he teaches does not appear on the exam. It really depends on the students efforts and capability. 60% of the exam is MCQ but we r not given any practice material for it. U will have no problem understanding the course material. Teaches full 3 hours but still is fun.

Best professor I've had at York by far.Charismatic and really brilliant. He will point out a lot of tips that are not in the textbook and explains things with the utmost clarity. Reading the textbook and making good notes is key for this course too. A great personality, genuinely funny and very entertaining. Take his courses whenever you can.

Other than the crazy end of semester project that we worked on for 3 days straight. This professor is one of the best at Schulich! He kept the class engaging and seemed very passionate about the material. I would take him again,no doubt!

BEST PROF EVER! The course requires a lot of practice but Rochon makes it easier for students. Very considerate and easy. Wants everyone to do well. Always promptly replies bach to emails. Other profs should learn from him. Wish York had more teachers like him. Had a great term with him last fall.

He can teach, and teach a difficult subject like Quants well. The problem is that Quants is a heavy course and you have to learn it in 6 weeks. Be prepared for a difficult and tricky mid term, completing the final project will help boost your grades.

Great professor who is clearly passionate about teaching and making sure everybody understands the concepts. But his midterm exam is hard and the final project is a pain. I got a good grade but damn was it hard! Remember if you want a good grade, you have to do really well in at least 2 out of 3 tasks (assignment, mid term, final project). Intense!

Professor Rochon is not a bad professor, he is very clear in his lectures and has plenty of examples the he solves with you. He also gives hints about the theory that will be tested. Professor Rochon? More like Professor Rock-on! Still surprised he's only part-time faculty. His teaching surpasses that of any other quantitative methods teachers, and every week the classes are jam-packed! If you can go to his class, you won't need tutors or anything. Michael Rochon is the best professor in ADMS & probably in all of YorkUni. Stats becomes extremely easy with Rochon as he teaches the material perfectly at the pace of the students (always asking the class if he should clarify & if they understand). A course should be dedicated in his name for other professors to take & learn his teaching methods

Prof Rochon is honestly the best professor you could get for these courses, he made everything so much more simple and easy then it actually was! Make sure you don't skip class because of attendance marks and also he goes through everything in so much detail. Stats is boring but Michael makes it amazing. It's hard to fall asleep on his class coz the lecture is very attractive(his voice is extremely loud btw). If you go to every single class, you don't have to spend extra hours for the test. He makes the calculation clear and simple. Easy A and A+.

Best prof at YorkU! Lectures are very engaging. He gives great tips, plus he gives handouts every week for practice in class, which is definitely very helpful. Midterms and final are easy/okayish if you practice. Slides also consist of theory parts that are on MCQs, so pay attention to those. He is kind and HILARIOUS! Overall, JUST TAKE HIS CLASS!!

Online lectures are harder, you have to motivate yourself. His lectures are long but very detailed and easy to follow. I made the mistake of not doing problems and ended up doing horrible on the first test. Without practice it felt longer and harder than it was. Practice enough and I am sure over a B is possible.

Be very diligent with your assignments. Make sure you pay attention in his class and your knowledge of stats is taken care of. He knows the subject inside out and does not weasel away from questions.

He breaks down the concepts so well - they're easy to understand. He's very energetic and funny, so it's really easy to stay engaged in class. And he truly believes that there are no such things as stupid questions, so don't be afraid to tell him if you don't understand anything! Also, don't forget to practice lots of questions!

I'm sure you have walked around campus and seen all the "STATS made EASY" posters, charging you a lot money to teach you something you can learn by simply attending his classes. He is Extremely funny and he makes STATS look super easy. If a complete idiot like me can get an A by just going to every class, i'm sure there is hope for everyone.

He is one of the best teachers for this course. Go above and beyond for each of his assignments, and read the textbook for his midterm. This man is a gift of a professor. He uses stats in his profession so he knows how to use the concepts in reality and convey them well to his students. He has a lot of patience and is always glad to answer questions. He answers emails with lightning speed. He's such a pleasure to talk to during the break of class. I took him for 2320 as well.

Prof Rochon is the best! I took 2320 online and his prerecorded lectures were so clear and easy to follow. If you have any questions you just email him and he will explain! The course is a lot of work if you really want to do well but he made it so much better. He also gives additional examples and solutions to textbook questions. Just great!!!

Great teaching. Many students in other sections chose to attend ours because of him - that was prior to COVID. Very genuine guy. However stats isn't the easiest subject. Understand the concept first and then do A LOT OF problems.

Stats is difficult for me but his online lectures and videos were great. Tests are hard but I focused on doing as many questions as possible. He is quick to respond to emails and explains things great. Wish I had him in class though...

The best prof that I have had so far at York University. He explains all of the statistics concepts very well, and always makes sure that we understand everything. After explaining each concept, he would ask if we all understood, which is very kind of him. He is also a super funny guy! Definitely would take a class with him again.

He has 2 goals. To ensure every student understands every concept, and to include some insight on how the concepts pertain to the real-world environment. If you're a beginner/ novice in quantitative studies, he's probably the best instructor you'll come across. He makes complex stuff look simple and doesn't make you feel foolish asking questions.
