He's a really caring prof, compared to some of the other ones. He tried to help us out a lot, giving us hints on what the quizzes and assignments will consist of and how to do them. Pretty chill and slightly quirky. Might stumble a bit when explaining things but I think he is still a good prof.

Ex HP employee turned prof, he says he does it for "charity". You can tell. Super sweet, really nice, and knows his stuff. Kindest prof I have met. Very funny, makes great jokes and tries to connect with students. Better than many of the other MGST217 profs. Preps you well for assessments. Michael was an adequate professor. He was able to discuss the material and had many resources to learn and practice the excel functions that his class is centered around. A very caring professor that is clearly passionate about the course, and is eager to assist you if you're stuck on a certain concept. Makes the boring nature of MGST much more interesting.

Had him for BTMA 317 as well. Hilarious guy, very personable and actually cared about getting to know his students. Clear about course expectations, including what would be on exams. Sometimes would get carried away about personal stories but they always related to the course and I found it made it more relatable.

He is a really funny guy, and is very approachable if you ever need help. BTMA 317 is a very boring course, but I thought he did a good job making the lectures somewhat interesting. This is the best structured course I have yet had for accessing the TA's and getting their assistance, so props to the teaching team for that.

I don't know if it was this prof or the terrible class structure, but BTMA 317 with him was the worst. You're only tested from the textbook, the assignments don't relate to the course content at all, and only the TA's can help you because Micheal doesnt know how to do the assignments. Plus he tests on random bits he says in class.

Whilst this class was not terrible it was not great either. Michael is an ok prof but sometimes goes off topic, makes weird jokes or doesn't really explain what he is doing. I would highly encourage going to class as some of the assignment can be quite difficult and having prior exposure is useful.

Michael had super fun and engaging lectures, the in-class exercises helped apply the content you learned as well as have something to review for exams/assignments. The exams were a bit tough but mainly due to the amount of questions rather than content, the exam booklet helped a lot. Overall, he is very helpful with questions and a great prof!

Michael was one of the main reasons I didn't drop the course. While the course content is pretty random, he finds ways to make it more engaging and I connected well with him. With him the course felt much more manageable and fair than it otherwise would have been. Take whichever courses he teaches because he is genuinely a gem.

Michael seems like a great guy, but I think the course is simply a disservice to him. Michael finds a way to teach the most mundane topics in a fun way- found myself giggling in class. Michael was super helpful regarding assignment expectations. Don't hesitate to take a class with him

Amazing person and even better prof. The class itself is pretty boring, but though it's a mandatory class he makes it enjoyable. Make sure to ask him lots of questions about the assignments because he is more than happy to help you out. Also it helps if you have a good group

Saar is a great prof! super chill and approachable. The assignments aren't the best, but they're graded by the TA, not him, so keep that in mind. He puts in a real effort to make the class engaging, even though the course material itself is pretty dry

I took MGST 217 in the Spring with Saar because his rating was good, but to be honest I was disappointed. Saar is disorganized at times and only goes through a small selection of the files in each module, leaving the rest up to you to study on your own time. The recorded videos for the modules are lifesavers, but sadly don't cover all the material.

Most down to earth and a very laid back professor, he is very caring as well. Although this course in general is not as fun, Michael makes BTMA not that boring! I know the assignment is kinda not related to him because is graded by the TA; other than that, I really enjoyed this class with Michael!

Saar is a funny lecturer and tries to keep lessons engaging even if the material is boring. His notes are taken from the textbook, but he adds his own insights and comments. Test questions are from the test bank, but it's the group projects that will drag your mark down if you're in a bad group. This course is mostly memorization and group work.

Given that this course followed an entirely new, restructured framework, Michael did a great job of modifying and tweaking course components as it progressed. His humour helped students engage with sections of dry content. Grading criteria and feedback for assignments were very unclear, making it difficult to do well.

Michael is a great prof and tries his best to make lectures less boring. The course itself is a lot of self taught material and assignments were mostly graded subjectively, making it difficult to know what was expected. Groups are not assigned for you, so pick a good group if you want to do well on the last two assignments.

I can confidently say that Michael Saar is one of the strongest professors I have had. He makes material that could easily feel dry genuinely engaging, and I didn't miss a single lecture. The course requires outside preparation and reading the outlines, but it's worth it for a good grade. I'd take any course he taught, even at 6 a.m. on a Saturday.
