Sawey is adorably awkward. He loves what he's teaching and puts forth a great deal of effort to make the information accessible to anyone, not just Bio majors. Anyone who wants to do the work (read the article before class, and look over your notes once in a while) can make a solid B or higher, no problem. Good sense of humor!

He is into what he does. If you need help he will help you, or stop in a lecture the answer questions. Tests are difficult if you dont KNOW the information. Attendance not required, but there is a quiz every day.

Great teacher, easy class. He will work with you as much as you need. He is very understanding. Downside: quiz everyday, but if you do the short readings you will make 100's on all of them. Funny teacher! Take him!!!!

I love this man. He is quirky, funny, and adorable! He is passionate about what he teaches which makes it interesting to learn. The material is easy and actually applies to life. Quizzes everyday but they aren't bad. Tests aren't terrible and he is willing to do ANYTHING to help. Plus he offers extra credit. take him for contemp. issues!

Take Sawey! He is the nicest, sweetest guy and he only teaches what he thinks will be interesting to you. There's no textbook, and he gives easy 3-question quizzes almost every class, so it's good to show up. I highly recommend him.

Michael Sawey is great! You take a three question quiz every class over easy readings. Teaches from PowerPoint, but you will not be bored. This class is designed for non-science majors, but this is stuff you'll actually need to know about. Very willing to help. Lab is required with class, which isn't oo bad. Overall, Sawey gets an A+!

Take Sawey for your NSC credit! Very nice man! It's all applicable knowledge too!The tests might seem hard at first but you get used to them and they are a breeze by the end. Lab is easy too. Any diligent student who does the readings and comes to class for the quizzes will get an A no problem. I acutally enjoyed coming to class and I hate science!

Mr. Sawey is my favorite professor at TCU so far! He is so passionate about teaching and is always in a great mood! He cracks jokes and keeps the material fun. I HATE science, but LOVED this class :)

You do have to study for tests and come to class, but compared to astronomy it's a walk in the park. Material is straight forward and I learn useful stuff all the time. It's my favorite class this semester b/c lectures are so fun!

Great natural science credit. Pretty easy. gives you information that every person should have. You dont have to be a science person to get it. You can easily make an A but you have to go to every class because attendance is mandatory and there are (easy) quizes every class.

Very interesting class, Mr. Sawey really cares about the well-being of his students, willing to help. Go to every class and do well on quizzes, tests aren't too bad but definitely have to know it. Lab quizzes were harder.

Sawey is such a sweetheart! Daily attendance is crucial (short quiz at beginning of class but they're super easy and you also use iclickers for a participation grade). Lecture material is really interesting. Lab can be tricky. With a little effort and regular class attendance, an A is definitely achievable

Great guy. Class 10% of grade and lab 15 % of grade so have to go to those. Tests are easy just read powerpoints like 10 times before and get an A. had an 88 and bumped me up to an A for final so sawey is the man. Never rated before but had to for this guy cus he deserves it. Take this class!!

Contemporary issues in Bio is really easy. Show up to class, listen and go to lab. You do not even need to take notes because he puts everything.

Sawey has one of the best teaching styles I have ever seen. Very upbeat and for the most part easy to understand. You have to go to class. Lab is done in a comp lab..VERY easy. Tests were the hardest part and were worth I want to say like 75%. Interesting class but not an easy A. Sawey is a great guy, funny too.

Sawey is legit, goofy, but he knows his stuff. Clas is easy, just show up to class, you dont even have to pay attention though. Lab's are easy and taught by TA's just remember to study for the quizzes in the LAB. And for test all you do is study the PP he puts online

For someone who is bad at science take this class. he is one of the best professors ive ever had, makes class interesting and is always upbeat. he has clicker questions everyday so don't miss class. the lab is taught by a TA and theres a short quiz at the beginning, super easy if you read before. DONT BUY THE BOOK you dont need it.

Mr. Sawey was a great professor! He made sure everyone understood the requirements. Make sure to go to class everyday because he does clicker questions that give you extra credit throughout the semester. You have to make sure you understand the questions he asks because they are tricky! No cumulative final either!

Contemp. Issues is literally the easiest science class you can take. I took the class as P/NC and even just studying the ppt. the night before for an hour I made 90's on the exams. Attendance is through the iclicker over previous lectures and readings but super easy points for your grade. Labs are annoying but easy. Don't buy the book.

Really enjoyed his class...tests were easy if you studied and questions came right off the powerpoint. Attendance isn't mandatory but you get a grade for questions answered with and iClicker everyday. Easy class overall.

Sawey is the man. Will not bump you up, but provided lots of EC. Most students are borderline B/C and choose to Pass/Fail. I'm getting a C most likely, but it has nothing to do with him. Follow PowerPoints to the T and you'll get a B for sure. Study a little harder and you can get an A.

Sawey is amazing. He is there to educate students about current topics and knows to put it in a way that is interesting. I've learned so much from him so far and he is one of my favorite profs I've ever had. Inspires you to be aware of your surroundings and yourself and teaches in a non-bias way.

HES AMAZING! Take him for contempt issues, he is literally an angel and the class is so easy if you go and pay attention. He is super nerdy and so funny which made the class so much fun. There are 4 tests which are his power points from class. During the power points he gives quizzes that are easy A's. Absolutely take this class if you need a core!

This class is easy to get a BC, but hard to get an A. I worked hard in the lecturelab to get an A in the class. I would recommend doing the extra credit assignment, this is what brought me from B to A. Tests are manageable, ?'s come primarily from lecture, but also from reading, lab and lab readings. Interesting class and I recommend it.

His Contemporary issues in biology is the easiest way to get a natural sciences credit. If you completely avoid HW and studying for tests, you'll pass, probably by a decent margin. Has in class quizzes but they're super easy and count for little. If you study and do the (minuscule amount of) reading, you'll get high marks

Since the class is in a lecture hall, if you need help, seeking it outside of class is the only way to do it. Professor Sawey is goofy and gives good lectures. Go to class to answer the clicker questions because that adds up in the end. Tests are multiple choice and not too difficult if you review the lecture notes.

One of the best teachers at TCU! He is so funny and makes the lectures SO interesting. All you need to do is show up (print the powerpoints out before class), listen, and reread the powerpoints to study for tests. Lots of my friends struggled with this course (as in, it wasn't an "easy A") but as long as you listen you will be great!

Like everyone else has already said, Mr. Sawey is awesome!! His class was probably the most fun and interesting class I've ever had. His tests come straight from the powerpoints, so be sure to study those. The first test is the hardest, so be sure and keep up as best you can. My lab TA sucked horribly but that's not really his fault! Manageable A.

Very straight-forward teacher, only uses powerpoint and lectures to teach. He gives good real life examples and really only talks about real-world applicable material. His tests are pretty straightforward, only multiple choice, but are pretty extensive. Each of the tests have a lot of material on it, but he doesn't ask tricky questions.

Sawey was great for getting my non-major science out of the way. I am in no way good at science related things and this class was a solid B just by listening in class. I didn't study for the first two tests and made an 80, and after studying the next two tests were A's. super easy if you listen and study a little. super nice guy and class.

This teacher is very good at explaining the course material. He gives out weekly readings before class and quizzes you through clicker questions. He gives you all the information and slides and very little additional notes are needed. The class was fun and educational.

He is really amazing and is passionate about what he lectures. The only part of this class that I would approach with caution is studying. You NEED to study about a week ahead because most tests have 6-9 lectures on them. The lab that corresponds is really easy. He is really funny and awesome

He has good lectures and he posts them online which is helpful. The tests are worth a lot and they cover a lot of material so if you want to do well it is best to start studying the week before. Other than that his class is pretty chill and he is a nice guy, I recommend taking him for science credit or any biology course.

The tests start out hard, but then get easier. It's important to do well on the first 2 tests so that you don't receive a bad grade.

Took this for my natural science core credit this summer. So soo happy I did, and honestly would've loved to hear his lectures in person. He makes biology so fun and interesting and that's coming from a journalism major and someone who was dreading taking this. Lecture and lab quizzes with readings due before every lecture, but so easy if you read

He is great! So nice and was very understanding when I had a family emergency right before the finals. Only homework is online textbook readings and a short quiz before each lecture and lab. Do all of them, study for the tests, and you will get a good grade. Lab is easy and there is almost never work outside of class for it.

He is super chill and super nice. I enjoy his class a lot. All the tests are online and so are the quizzes, I would download the power points in advance though because he talks pretty fast. Great class to take for science CORE credit

This class is recommended because the atmosphere is pleasant and the instructor strives to keep students engaged. He does a good job of disseminating the material, as the quizzes are simple and the exams are not particularly difficult.

I really enjoyed this class! Professor Sawey is super funny and helpful. 4 tests that are 75% of the grade. Tests are online and 100 questions in an hour. Labs aren't horrible if you find a good group to stick with. If you study for the tests you will be fine.

Professor Sawey is an AMAZING professor with very interesting and relatable lectures. He is funny and doesn't make the class feel so serious. All tests are taken outside of class on lockdown. Your grade is made up of the tests (kind of hard), text book quizes (taken online outside of class), and participating in the pulls during class.

Sawey's lectures were always hilarious and I was always learning. We had quizzes before each class, participation polls, and Tests are big chunk of grade but online/out of class and 2 attempts. Interactive teaching style and we were always entertained in class! Def recommend taking for natural science core!

Had him for contemporary issues in biology lecture. He is super kind and very passionate about biology. Does a really good job using visuals in his lectures and tries his hardest to keep us engaged. Not a hard A, just online quizzes before each lecture and lab and 4 tests (including the final).

I took Contemporary Issues in Biology with him in Spring 2023. The class was lecture based with short online readings and 5 question quizzes due before the class. He makes sure to keep students engaged. His tests are taken online at your own time the day of the exam. Although they are long, they are pretty easy if you stay caught up on work.

You are disservicing yourself if you don't take Sawey for NCS credit. There are 4 exams all taken on your own time on a designated day on a lockdown browser (no camera). The final is not cumulative. Uses an engagement feature during class, but attendance is not mandatory. The lab is so easy. Homework assignments take 5 mins and are all on quizlet.

Super nice guy and super easy class. Online quizzes and exam that are so easy. He does take participation through the online text every lecture though so make sure you don't miss. You also learn a lot of actually relevant science stuff too which was cool. Overall, definitely one of the best and easiest natural science credit classes at TCU.

Like other people have said, if you are looking for a NSC class and looking for good professors... just stop. Enroll in him asap. Labs are all TA's and its easy group work every time. Just a goatted prof, and easy class

I love this class! Professor Sawey makes it so fun and engaging. There are three tests that are online. There are two online quizzes per week which take about 5 minutes. He makes lectures fun and is great at his job!

If you need a natural science take this class. It is so easy and all the tests are online on your own time the day of. There is not a lot of reading or homework and you get 4 absenses. His lectures are pretty engaging and interesting. Sometimes the labs were a little boring but overall this was a super easy and pretty interesting class.

This man is absolutely hilarious and kind-hearted. He loves what he is teaching and you can tell as soon as he begins lecture. His lectures were always entertaining, and I do not usually enjoy science this much. The hardest part of this class was the lab, taught by the TA, that he could not control. He's a nice professor that makes his class interesting. The only thing that I didn't like about this class was the tests. They were a little to difficult because most of the questions are free free-response and he grades hard on each question. If his tests were multiple choice this class would be perfect. Overall he's a great professor.

Super super easy credit. 2 quizzes outside of class per week easy 100, attendance but lectures are interesting and he is funny which makes it easy. Topics are very surface level. Great class! Definitely recommend for a science credit, weekly quizzes are easy as well as the online exams. The class was interesting and I genuinely enjoyed it. Labs were also super simple and we often times left after 30 min.

He is super engaging and makes every lecture really fun. All of the things he talks about are very interesting and applicable to everyday life. It is one of the few classes that I have taken that I can apply to most of my life. There is a lot of reading in this class, but most of it is really easy to read and very interesting.

Sawey is the easiest professor at TCU. Has weekly quizzes for both lecture and lab that are open note. 3 lecture exams that are online, at home, and you get two attempts, and 2 lab exams that are in-person. Hardest part is lab exams, but study guide is provided. Take this for your science credit!!

Easiest A ever!!! All exams are online, including the final. You have daily online quizzes that are straight out of the textbook. Attendance is mandatory, but you don't have to pay attention in class.

BIOL 30613: This class was absolutely amazing, take it if you need an easy A. All the tests are online, there's one group project and a field trip! I had an amazing experience with Dr. Sawey and would defintely recommend others take him and this class!

I would not take this class. You could study for hours and the test are still hard and all in person. They are true or false questions that all seem true and so niche even if you understand the material it still is extremely difficult one of the toughest classes of my life because of the test. Fade but good lectures.

Okay so basically I kind of cheated the system. You don't really have to go to class if someone can give you the code to the lecture. DONT DO THAT. Go to class and take notes because the exams are not open note and are randomly generated. He is very excited about his teaching. If you go to class and study you should be good. I P/NC and passed.

This class is a must take! I was nervous coming into bio after not taking it for several years and it was far more engaging than in high school! Prof. Sawey was very accommodating during the course and really wanted us to succeed. If you need a NSC credit, look no further!! Excellent course overall!

I had a great experience. Exams are not meant to trick you and he pulls exam questions straight from his lectures. He is SO nice and very easy to get ahold of outside of class. Whenever I had a question he emailed me back right away. I have always hated biology but Sawey made it super interesting and relatable! I would 100% take this class again!

For starters, I don't like Bio. That being said this is probably one of the easier and more engaging NSC classes you could take. Exams are not at all bad they come straight from lectures and labs. All I did to study was walk through slides and just put everything into my own words then quiz myself on quizlet. Overall great class and professor!

I loved Professor Sawey. He made his lectures interesting most of the time and I actually learned some things I never knew. I got a good grade in his class and he's just a funny, caring guy. I recommend taking his class for bio, it was chill and wasn't too stressful for me with all the other classes I had going on in the semester. :)

He takes attendance based off of who is logged into his lecture so as long as someone send you the code you are chill. He is the BEST teacher to take for this course. He made the lectures supper engaging and enjoyable. Exams and finals are all online.

Tests are online except lab tests. Lab tests are pretty simple and very logical. Not a tough class to get an A and I'm not good at science. Lectures participation is important but you can join them online from anywhere, so it's not really a problem.
