Brilliant person, interesting class.
schwee's the bomb
Lectures are interesting and he'll answer any questions students have. Exams are very tricky and not many people get a high score, but he also grades on a curve. Make sure to do all your homework, it's a large part of the grade.
very long & boring lectures, but he's a cool & funny guy. exams are really hard but he uses a major curve.
very good teacher in terms of explaining the lectures. a bit peculiar though.
very hard class, but u dont need to understand anything since schwarts is #1. easy A. huge curve !!!!
Interesting lectures, nice teacher.
Imagine taking a class from one of those guys you hang out with.
His lectures are somewhat boring, but sometimes makes funny jokes. His tests are very hard but he bases them at a major curve so there is no worry. Very easy to get an A!
He is a very nice teacher, always makes funny jokes. He gave huge curve on your grade and very understanding. And the best of it, he is still teaching at SMC.
Michael Schwartz is a wonderful teacher, who could belt out a tune on his Saxophone, he is also very comical, when he teaches 1A. I would recommend him to anyone.
Alright, here's the deal: This guy knows his****. BUT, he has a bit of a problem conveying the material to students (extremely complex subject). I guess he's so adept, he doesn't really know how to "dumb" it down for us. His jokes were pure geni
If you are too lazy to study, do not take his class. He is a great professor, he knows and loves his subject, and tries to keep the topic as interesting as possible. The class is curved, so if you are a hard worker, you will do well.
hes a pretty cool guy, kinda looks like a hippie, but cool. only 1 midterm, then the final. kinda hard, 1 ec written report of liek 10 pages worth like 10%. kinda fair, curve is extreme but there is always that geek that messes up the curve. goodluck.
He's a great guy, extremely interesting class. Gives extra credit, open minded, grades on a curve. AWESOME GUY and a GREAT professor.
Shwartz is the Best!! i really enjoyed his class. He is intelligent and has great knowledge of the subject. He is funny and his lectures were intense. He is not too easy nor is he too hard. You have to be into it a bit and read at least the basic stuff. I would recomend him.
Interesting class, subject not always easy. Nice guy, generous grader, knows his field (maybe too well, like he'd rather be teaching a more advanced course), but why 15-20 min late to every class meeting?
very hard subject but great professor! his lectures are interesting and sumtimes could be boring, but he is a very funny guy! easy grader and big curves. one of the best professors! take him! you wont regret it! i thought da subject was SO HARD but aye! it turned out pretty good! THE BEST!!!!!!
this is an easy class to sit through, come to class take your notes and do your homework. the only thing you have to worry about is the test. is tests are very hard but he does grade on a nice curve.
Clear in his lecture, dont even take attendance. just do ur chapter hw, and take the mid-term test and final. Funny dude, highly recommended
Great guy, lousy professor. At least a half an hour late to every class, highest grade on the midterm was 55%. Don't take his class unless you've already majored in astro; do check out his band though. They're awsome.
I dropped his class because i found him so unclear it was ridiculous. Maybe he's gotten better since last year, but i found that he never finished a thought so that all my notes were left open ended and i felt completely unprepared. I'm an A student and i've never run into this kind of problem except with him.
Schwee is awesome. He teaches like he's talking to a friend about the planets. He can also sing, play the sax and create sick rhymes.

This guy is funny as hell. He manages to take a boring lecture and make it somewhat interesting. Ver, very intelligent guy, and gives very generous grades.
I absolutely love him!! The most amazing man ever!!! Before taking his class, I was looking only for easyness of the class to fulfill the requirement, but got the coolest and smartest teacher ever!! It is such a pity the semester is finishing,I'll be missing everything in this class,,,,
Oh my god this guy sucked. If you enjoy a professor always showing up late then this class is for you. Nothing was too hard about the class. My only problem was the way he would just show up 15 min to 35 min late all the time. Then he would blurt out all the material as fast as he could just to get out of there. Not a fun or interesting class
Serious lectures and class instruction are more than overcome with the professor's original personality and interesting subject matter.
Most Borning class ever. He's always late. Mid term and final only-multiple choice+curved, 33% average on final was a B. Fair amount of homework but use the CD, go to index on CD, find answer and copy and paste into word doc, don't handwrite, it'll take forever. This guy smokes too much or something, wierd guy. Passable or better but sucked.
Cool guy but always late so if you have trouble with tardiness, this is the prof for you. The tests were difficult considering the depth at which you had to read the book in order to "get it." His lectures are him talking for 2 hrs straight. The good thing is the subject is interesting and he curves the test grades like no other. B- grade teacher.
this guy rocks! not only is he a cool dude, but extremely knowledgable, and has a great sense of humor. if you are interested and enthusiastic, this is a great class for you. ask questions! with minimal studying, you will probably get an A, unless you have no ability to grasp scientific concepts, because the tests are always graded on a big curve.
Witty teacher with a dry sense of humor. He, with out a doubt, makes his lectures interesting, and makes you want to actually go to his class, and actually listen to his lectures. Study hard, and TAKE HIM- you won't regret it!!
Oh i loved this guy. He makes each class interesting and he is pretty funny. HE KNOWS what he is talking about. Resonable homework and has study guides for tests and also gives extra credit. Also he will answer ANY question.
Schwatrz is a genius. Nice as hell, really down to Earth. I will remember the things I learned in his class because of the way he taught them. Curve grader, offers 1 extra credit assignment for a lot of points. He does come late but then again so do I. Who cares if class is 15min shorter? He went to Harvard and knows his stuff. Brown dwarf expert.
Schwartz is a really nice guy and professor. His class isn't too hard because he curves, but his tests are pretty tough. He will explain any question you have, and he is really cool. Plays the sax in an awesome band as such and he definitely comes reccomended. Probably the most chill teacher at SMC. Take him!
He is Great!! And yes he is very chill. He tends to be about 15 min late all the time, No problem with me. He makes Astro a little more intresting. H.W for every chapter.A Midterm & a Final they are hard So study!! I highly recommend taking his class, dont wait till the last min, his classed fill up fast...
Great teacher, explains things in a way that is understandable. This guy will show up late to class like its the cool thing to do. Be patient with that because his class is worth the wait. Highly recommended for students that have trouble with science but want to learn. Grades on a curve which is good because his tests are a killer.
Very, very boring professor. Seems like he is not interested in his profession, for he is always late to class. He tries to be funny, yet he needs to try a little harder because his jokes aren't funny at all! Have to admit, his tests are the only good stuff because they are challenging and are not intended for the weak of mind.
Interesting class. Schwartz is cool. Class begins at 5:30. Very laid back. He allows you to use any edition of the text book (I saved $95) Do not expect to comprehend the infinite universe after only one semester. Thought provoking and challenging he introduces you to a plethora of astronomical info. Very interesting class. Ask questions and study.
Mixed feelings...came to class ~30-45 minutes late every day without exception. Laid-back personality and highly knowledgeable on the subject, but the difficulty of the midterm/final greatly exceeded the scope of lecture material. Extreme curve: on our tests, >60% correct = A. Not recommended for majors.
I love this professor. I would take him again but Astro 5 doesnt particularly interest me. He comes to class late on average of 20-30 minutes so dont be suprised. I dont say that as a bad thing, he's just super laid back. Not hard at all, and very interesting. Tests are curved, but easy either way. One weekly homework assignment. Great teacher.
What a wonderful teacher! Very cool and laid back, not strict about anything. One homework assignment per week, one mid-term, and one final, which are graded on a curve. He's intelligent, has actually spend time in the field of the subject he teaches, and has a witty sense of humor. Also an accomplished jazz musician and tango dancer!
Best professor I ever had! Taking his class was the highlight of my semester. The tests were really hard, but somehow, I got an A! Yay! I definately recommend him to anyone interested in real astronomy, and not simply stargazing.
Great Guy, good teacher, smart, jew from brooklyn. Knows his astronomy, went to harvard. Easy A if you take notes from his lectures and do the hw (once a week). Only problem I had was that he would always come 15- 35 minutes late sometimes. Then I would hit rush hour and thats not good. But he usually lets you out 10 minutes early
Listen girls, he is adorable, single, and Harvard educated. The class itself wasn't the most fun, but his personality that is infused in his teaching style kept me awake. The weekly HW is about an hour's worth of misery and the tests are RIDICULOUSLY difficult, but grades on an even more ridiculous curve(but its necessary.) Easy A and B.
Not the best experience for an astronomy course. Dry sense of humor; Could improve his teaching skills. Take Balm instead!
HE IS THE BEST!!!!!!! :D
endearing
Prof. Schwartz is amazing!!! Take his class!!!
Very very sweet man. Knows his stuff. But if you want to really learn in his class, don't be afraid to ask any questions you have. He'll answer all of them, but if you don't ask, you might not understand everything. Very considerate person. Definitely recommend.
He was one of my fav teachers. He is laid back and always late which was good for me bcuz it made me a few minutes early to class and all you really have to do is half the hw and the the tests which i didnt do well on and you'll still pass with a good grade, he is also really cute and is enjoyable to have as a teacher
He is a great person. He is really into what he teaches but it's hard to follow since he goes over the stuff very fast. His class is ALL slideshows and movies. He comes late to class ALWAYS.Not the best teacher, but a really nice guy.
Ok first of all He's cute he reminds me of Noah Calhoun 4rm da notebook Lol 4 sum reason.. He is a really easy laid bacc teacher, He will be 20-35 minutes late tho! but dat waz ok bcuz dat made me early he gives homework once a week and 1 midterm & a final.. He is 1 of my favorite easiest cutest teachers I would def. recommend ;-)
He is in Grad school which seems to be where his focus is. SMC is just a job to him. The tests are a joke, not sure how he chooses the questions but he does not prepare you well for them. If you are going to take the class take it for Pass/Fail or C/NC. Hard tests, no prep, curves grade, assigns ex-cred in feable attempt to help you.
LAID BACK CLASS!! ok, it's not Schwatz's fault that he went to Harvard and doesn't have the motivation to teach SMC slackers to understand astronomy. No calculations or math required, come to class and he'll explain the cosmos to you by using food analogies. great guy, funny, laid back, and he grades on a HUGE curve! long live Critical Brass!
Professor schwartz is the man. he is super funny and he makes astronomy really interesting. the tests are a bit hard but the curve is so helpful that its really easy to get an A. i would super recommend this class.
SCHWARTZ IS THE TIGHTEST! super easy class. doesnt take attendance. comes to class 30 minutes late everyday. the tests are super hard but the curve helps SOO MUCH its easy to get an A. LOVE LOVE LOVE him.
Great teacher! Homework once a week.Chapter review with the answers on the following page. Test are multiple choice, just guess and you'll get a C on it. Curves everything! He also gives out extra credit! Fun class and you'll actually learn something. Videos are kind of old school but it does what it's supposed to.
Great teacher the best I have had at SMC.. I strongly recommend taking any one of his classes. Very interesting to listen to, and he has a great sense of humor.
His exam questions are based on "his" own knowledge. Although he curves it. It's impossible to understand! Almost more than 50% of the questions aren't based on the txtbook OR the notes. 90% of the time we watch a video and some clips. It is an interesting class, but the exams are horrible.
For those taking Schwartz, this is the review to read. Before his class I had no interest in Astro and still don't. I came to class everyday, did the extra credit and all the homeworks. I got a D on the first test and who knows how I did on the final but I managed to get an A as my grade so look interested, be polite and do work. Hope this helps.
do your homework and extra credit paper and you will at least get a B.
He was late everyday. He showed old movies of the solar system. His test were hard but he curves it. NIce teacher but the class is a bit hard.
Always late, recites the textbook, however he is entertaining. I love the class material quite intriguing!!
He's a jewish rabbi hippie LOL! Comes to class late EVERYDAY! But hes really laid back and funny. This guy is a genius! He discovered his own star. There are 2 tests. First test i got a 43% and it was a high B :D thank god theres a curve.d do extra credit and your guaranteed an A or B. Final is super simple if you read the book. (which is interesti
this guy is a trip... genius hippie that's about 20 minutes late. super lax... chapter review's as homework. 1 midterm, 1 final... both of which are seemingly impossible, but grades on a massive curve. i think the only thing i can remember from the lectures are his hilarious jokes
gotta love the bellbottoms lol
Dr. Schwartz is very chill. He speaks slowly and clearly. Chapter review questions for homework. Two exams - a midterm and a final (graded on a curve). It's important you take notes. You watch a lot of films also. Really... this professor is as good as it gets. Highly recommend him.
He's okay I got a B but my friend who did not even study got a B also so that kind of stinks. Take good notes. He is cute reminds me of the guy from the notebook.
Amazing teacher!! He's a really down to earth type of guy, and it shows by the way he teaches but the class is an easy A if your willing to put in a little effort. I loved the class and for someone who walked in hating astronomy...I'd take another class if I had the chance. :]
i know that his class used to be an easy A. be careful with the other ratings its not any more. this class has alot of info to suck in. the teacher is not helpful when it comes to the tests which are impossible. easy B how ever you will not get an A if you have a job or other classes. for a B you will have to do ALL the assingments and EC.
Read the text and answer the questions prior to the lecture to have the information reinforced and you will do fine. Tests are very hard but if you read and do decent (60%) the curve will pretty much guarantee you an A.
Dr. Schwartz is incredible! He is very engaging when he speaks. He does not take role, but if you don't show up to class, you are missing out on A LOT of info (and cool movies)....which WILL be on the test. TAKE NOTES on EVERYTHING, and study them. Tests are VERY hard (his study guide doesn't help much) Do HW! It's really a FUN class! I got an 'A'!
I had the comment just below this one. I forgot to mention how FUNNY he is. His sense of humor is the best! Throughout his lectures, he throws in little quirky remarks...he's BRILLIANT!
This professor is very laid back and approachable. Take TONS of notes as these will be your only help for your midterm and final. Week to week HW. Does not make attendance mandatory but if you don't go you will be missing A LOT of info. Test's are HARD and the curve is insane! Enjoyed the class.
Professor schwartz is super laid back. tests are insanely hard, but graded on a huge curve. show him that you are making an effort and working hard and he will give good grades. make sure you do the weekly hmwk and extra credit! i got a 50 on the midterm which turned out to be a C, and still managed to get an A for the class. MAKE an effort!
Best teacher at SMC. He's really funny, laid back and willing to help. His tests are hard but don't worry, the curve almost ensures you'll pass. If you get a D on the midterm (60-69%) it counts as an A. I highly suggest him. Very helpful and extremely nice. He's an astro-physics PhD too, so he always knows what he's talking about.
GREAT TEACHER. YOU LEARN PLENTY. YOU HAVE HW WEEKLY BUT HIS GRADING IS VERY FAIR. YOU HAVE A MIDTERM AND FINAL BUT HIS CURVE IS SO CRAZY. I GOT A 66% ON THE TEST WHICH WAS A HIGH "A". HE'S HILARIOUS AND HIS LECTURES ARE ENTERTAINING.
I love Professor Schwartz. His tests are insanely hard, most of us are completely behind in his lectures, but he's funny, kinda cute, and grades on a huge curve. He's so laid back. If you put in effort he will cut you some slack.
Those pants!! He's kin of the absent minded prof. He gives a lot of HW but he never checks it. Just turn it in. I get the feeling he does tis for the money, but he really does know his stuff. He's got a dry sense of humor. And yes his test's are tough, but in my class a 58 was a B on the first test
The most down to earth teacher I've had at SMC so far is the astronomy teacher, go figure. Very modest/humble and a good sense of humor. The work and exams can be challenging but if you put in the time and pay attention in class you will get an A.
never did non of the homework, did not turn a logg, failed all tests (they counted as "c"s) and still managed to get a C. He just walks out of class and then puts on a movie and just sits back an chills. EASY A if you put time in it or given C if you dont care about astronomy
Prof S. is extremely laid back. If need any help from him or a question you can just email him and he will give a quick response back. Videos in every single class and short lectures. The tests don't have anything from the videos just on what he says in lecture so pay attention. Study groups will help you do better as well. Hw due each class. Easy!
Tests literally had nothing to do with textbook. Take this class at your own risk because there's almost no way to study for the exams because the tests are SO random. Cool guy though except lectures are really boring.
I just finished his summer session. I got a B. Got a C on the first midterm and for finals prolly got a C again. He is a really laid back teacher. Doesn't care if you leave class or not. Just do the hw, labs, and do the ec then i doubt ud get lower than a C. I didn't put much effort and still passed with a B.
He's a really great, quirky guy. However, he class material was really dense. Learned a lot in this class, but I literally had to eat the book to get anywhere. His presentations are all over the place and it's really difficult to know what info's gonna b on the tests.
Professor Schwartz is very chill. His lectures are boring. He is a high-curve grader. I got a 19/50 on an exam and ended up getting a c. I didn't study for the final and i ended up getting a c in his class. Overall chill professor.
In the beginning of the class, he immediately tells the class the course will not be about aliens. He's a very chill professor, grades on a huge curve. The material and his lectures are extremely boring, and he's so relaxed that it makes it hard not to doze off.
I have always been into astronomy. lectures are pretty short but the power point goes by fast, write as much notes as you can... homeworks are easy just do it! i think he is a great teacher and knows the subject well. Study well for the test and you will be fine. chapter reviews are really helpful. Do the extra credit paper and an A is easy.
this teacher is amazing. no one comes to class. but if you do its helpful. the classes are all about taking notes on the powerpoints he explains. homeworks are the review questions at the end of the chapters, super easy. 1 midterm and a final which are curved, 50% on the tests mean you get a B. if you dont show up you will pass.
NOT EASY. NOT FOR STONERS. Class is boring and never starts on time. Uninterested in this subject and was left uninspired and less interested! Tests are REALLY hard and 99% from textbook. Homework is mandatory but will help for the tests. Too much theory for my taste. He is very interested in the subject, but doesnt always project it upon students
This class is not easy! However, he grades on a huge curve to make up for the extremely hard questions (40 out of 60 is an A). Attendance isn't mandatory but if you wan't an A you absolutely need to do the extra credit, which is a lot of busy work (4 pages of writing a week at least!) For serious students I wouldnt recommend him.
He is a very chill teacher, very hard tests, but if you really do your best he will give you a good grade. Do the homework, do an extra credit and study for the tests, then you are fine! You learn a lot from the book and you need it for the homework so don't skip it!
Terrible professor, passionate about subject but doesnt do a good job teaching. Boring power points & pointless videos. His study guides for the midterm & final are also pointless. Some of the words on the study guide arent even in the book. He doesn't know how to protector exams! exams are impossible
As someone who has little interest in science, this class did not nothing to help remedy that. The subject had the potential to be very interesting: Life in the universe. But the professor made it very dry and always showed up at least 20 minutes late. He grades on a curve so the class is not too difficult, but I would have taken something else.
Great professor! I learned a lot from him. Very interesting lectures, but his tests are extremely hard and you should do a homework each week which are review questions after each chapter. If you do all your homeworks and study the chapters, you will be fine. Moreover, it is very interesting class and professor has a nice sence of humor
Professor Schwartz is very clear and knows a lot. Has a great sense of humor as well. We had 12 chapter questions, midterm and final, and an optional extra credit research paper. Prof. Schwartz made the class very interesting.
Took his class during FALL 2013. Easy class for a minimum grade of C. Physical science is not my area, so I tend to screw up in physical science classes but professor Schwartz focused on pure concepts rather. I got a C because I did the minimum to earn a C, unless you're into astro, an A is possible. 12 HW Questions, mid-term, and final(scan-tron)
Nice guy and he knows what he's talking about. The entire class is power points. He has homework for every chapter, a midterm and a final. He gives study guides for everything but they're pretty much vocab and don't help that much. He gives an extra credit research paper. He gave up on attendance halfway through the semester.
nice guy but sooooo difficult to follow in lecture (just read the book). classes always start late and you end up watching a random video for 30 mins - an hour almost every lecture. homework due every week, 1 midterm, 1 final and ec opportunities. easy to get a c but really hard to get an A. grades on a curve because tests are really hard.
We had 12 chapter questions, midterm and final, and an optional extra credit research paper. Although he collects minimal assignments, I recommend reading the book a few times. Requires a lot of at home studying to do well. Grades on a curve, and focuses on main concepts.ALWAYS comes to class late, so no stress with tardies!
He is really nice and so clear, also he is not strict and vain. He know what he is talking about and i learned lots of interesting thing. Just one midtern and final. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.
Highly recommend this professor! This professor managed many times in capturing uninterested student's attention with an out of the box style.
Exams are hard. But the curve is so high, that a C on the exam turns into an A. If you show up to class, read the book, and do your homework, you'll get an A. Not much effort needed, really. He's pretty funny too!
Don't have much to say. Half the class we watch Carl Sagan and the other half we look at powerpoints comprised completely of pictures. Most people do so horribly on the exam, that we end up doing better than we thought because of the curve. He gives an extra credit project that can boost up your grade an entire letter at the end. Not too social.
He was the best professor I've ever had. He also had some great pants.
He's is very softspoken and kind. He's extremely intelligent and his lectures are informative. If you like Astronomy, take him. He has very simple homework requests, is EXTREMELY lenient to your grade based on class difficulty and assigns little but impactful extra credit. He brought snacks for our last class session and chocolate for the formal.
One of the most difficult classes I've taken so far at SMC. He assigns homework every week and does some in class group activities and assigns an extra credit assignment which is absolutely necessary if you want to pass the class. His tests are impossible but he grades on a curve so just study the study guide and you'll most likely pass.
The nicest professor out there. I highly recommend him. 1 midterm and the final and easy homework. if the exam is hard, which it will be, don't panic because you will get a good grade.
Easy peasy A if you do all the home works and study .
Easy A for most of the part. The thing ppl don't say is that he is very TEST HEAVY. There's a midterm and final. Participation, classwork, labs, and homework matter very little but do it anyways as they are very EASY. But if you fail your tests, but still do all the work, probably a C is likely. An A is highly possible.
Prof Schwartz is a very nice guy. His class is very straightforward and there are only 2 tests, the midterm and the final. There is homework and classwork but it's very easy to understand and not confusing at all. He also grades the midterm/final on a very high curve.
Easy A if you do all the hw & study for midterm & final. Labs are not hard at all plus you can work in groups not many labs. Even if you don't get high grades on tests you can still pass with a B if you do everything else. he also offers extra credit. Highly recommend!!
I was afraid to take astronomy because it is a daunting subject but Schwartz does an awesome job explaining big concepts in a way anyone can understand if they try. Do all the homework and guides and you will be able to pass without a problem. Tests are curved and doable if you really get a grasp on the concepts
I love professor schwartz so much!! He is my favorite professor. There is a midterm, final, and labs which are just worksheets you fill out in class with groups. He mostly just lectures and shows videos. He is the sweetest person and makes astronomy interesting. Definitely do the extra credit. Extremely large curve on tests. Study & be engaged!
professor Schwartz is amazing!! the class is pretty easy, there is one midterm and a final. if you do all the homework, labs and extra credit you will get an A.
Easy to pass if you have a basic understanding of the course material going in. Extremely test heavy, lectures are generally uninformative. Likes to show movies and videos that have nothing to do with the material you are currently studying and then fall asleep. Classes are mostly on the history of science and not science itself. Will get political
I took his first online class in the fall and it was pretty easy. Theres 1-2 short assignments every week or two, and a midterm and a final. He responds to emails quickly and professionally. Would definitely recommend.
LISTEN to the lectures & videos & take notes bc the book is no help but you need it if you don't come to class. Lastly DONT I repeat DONT study the study guide it is pointless and it will NOT be on the test. He is a really smart and funny guy I enjoyed his class but he just doesn't have the skill of teaching bc I did not learn anything.
Great class! He gets distracted a lot, and when I say distracted he WILL walk out of class to go get food from time to time. If you do the homework and labs youll be fine. Also he looks like Steve from Blues Clues but like how he looks now. No relevancy to the class just thought it was funny.
Professor Schwartz was the most down to earth teacher I've ever had. He is extremely intelligent but he's the kind of teacher that doesn't take himself too seriously. And most of all, he is HILARIOUS! Class is never boring. Treats students like they're his equals and is very respectful. Take him!
yo this fool is so funny honestly most interesting teacher i've ever had. Wears dope pants. Homework is super easy. Labs are easy. only two tests the whole semester :The midterm and the final. Tests are kind of hard but he rounds everyones scores drastically! I literally got a C on my test and he rounded it to an A. GOAT love you dawg
I really like his class! Just take him and you'll be fine!!! :-)
Really nice guy. His lectures are long and can sometimes be confusing. The labs are easy, and he helps you out with them. 2 tests, final and midterm. THE STUDY GUIDE DOES NOT HELP MUCH. Will curve the test grade since most people don't do so good. Funny and has a unique sense of fashion :)
He is the best. There is only 2 tests: Midterm and Final. There is the biggest curve ever on the tests its great. The tests are super hard and all the questions are not on the study guide but its ok because of the curve. The labs are so simple its literally out of a work book. He is so sweet and just wants you to pass. He is also really funny!
Dr. Schwartz is a very great professor. He does make the class fun and interesting. The labs are from a lab book, he does assign homework once a week, and gives only two exams (midterm and final). He is a very laid back professor and does grade the class and exams on a really big curve. I did learn a lot from the course and highly recommend him.
The best professor at SMC. He is so understanding and caring towards his students. He just wantS his students to do good. Very good at emailing back, available after class, super chill. So overall the best! There is a final and a midterm which are hard, but if you study you'll pass. He makes class fun with his jokes and cool pants. 100% Recommend.
Online course was extremely easy. Consisted entirely of multiple choice questions which can all be found in the book. Course did take place exclusively on the Pearson My Lab website. Professor Schwartz was helpful with any technological questions. All around, an easy A.
Great Professor, learned a lot about our solar system and watched interesting videos. Easy and laid back class! Homework from the book per chapter but not difficult. A few group lab assignments during class. He only had two exams, midterm and final, which her fairly difficult but he does have a curve. Very interesting class!
Ehhh kinda weird I dont know I kinda wouldnt recommend taking him, his lectures are all over the place and his voice can put you straight to sleep
I thought I wouldve gotten a B cuz thats what I got for my midterm but the HW and labs are so simple and easy that they probably have gotten my grade up to an A. Prof Schwartz is such a nice guy, his lectures are really boring but his kindness and hilarious jokes compensated the boringness. I recommend taking him if you dont major in Astronomy!
Let me start off by saying professor Schwartz is a real gem. He is the best teacher Ive had at smc he is so understanding and knowledgeable. Helps you to understand the material. The course is hard but there are huge curves and he helps you understand. He is smart, funny and caring. Do yourself a favor and take him. Thank you professor Schwartz.
His class is pretty hard because of the materials that he gives us. The lectures are hard to understand and boring. I felt that I was failing the class because the midterm was super hard and the exam was hard too. He does not use a Canvas, so no one knew their own grades. Even though the class is kind of hard, he makes a big curve for everyone.
the easiest class ever. he using my lab from Pearsons and all your homework will be on there. two tests midterm and final and we only had 1 discussion he's super chill and fun and an easy A if u need to fulfill this for igetc take it. worth it
A good class to take online. Homework is easy if you read the book. All homework and tests are open book. Only 2 tests, midterm and final. Easy and interesting class.
Professor Schwartz is an amazing professor, even though I took his course online he still attentive to his students. I was late on an assignment due to work and he was understanding. Also I heard he wears snazzy pants, points for that!
Professor Schwartz is very specific of your answers for the homework, tests quizzes and much more. Is a very tough grader. And goes one by one in your answers. One small mistake and your answer is wrong.
This class was so hard. Professor grades very harsh. He throughly goes through your homework, assignments, tests. It is so hard to get an A in this class. I struggled so much but I managed to get a 95 in the class. He is a very tough grade! One small mistake and it's wrong. At the end, midterm and final was long took me more than an hour.
Easy class. Just do the homework which is mostly multiple choice and read, you'll do fine! :)
Easy class for those who must complete GE classes. Just do your homework on time. He won't accept late submissions. You will be required to purchase an online book and study on the Pearson platform. Very chill, easy, open book.
Tests had 120 questions each with 80min to complete. Labs were annoying af bc he doesn't teach you anything and expects you to get your labs done perfectly on your own. everyone had trouble. If he assumes anyone is copying answers (even if they didn't) he will take away points. He assigned work over spring break without saying anything too. not it.
Professor Schwartz replies to emails quickly and is polite, but perhaps he has too many students. I made a mistake taking this class asynchronously. It was very difficult material which I was not prepared for such as physics. Perhaps his live classes are easier. All I had was a textbook and assignments.
The material is tough if you're not into astronomy but Chegg is your friend. Not a lot of work, everything is due randomly throughout the week but its spaced out. Overall pretty easy class for the material it is, wouldn't expect myself to pass an astronomy class.
Astronomy 4 is a difficult class online. Detailed material and one must be disciplined to keep up with the work on your own, no lectures. Key is to do well on the weekly homework and labs to keep your grade up as the mid term and final are difficult. Dont wait til last minute. Professor responds quickly to email and is friendly and accessible.
Good professor and class. Quizlet helps.
Over all an easy class however I had major technical difficulties out of my control and the professor just graded all my assignments a 0 and when I tried to email nothing really came of it so had to drop the class (
Professor Schwartz's astronomy class is challenging, but his clear explanations and helpful attitude make it worthwhile. The workload is heavy, but using resources like Unstuck AI for study prep can really pay off.
Professor Schwartz was one of my favorite professors. I took the class online. You have one assignment and one lab due per week. The assignment is like 15 questions and takes about 20-30 min. The labs are a bit harder but doable. Final and midterm are worth a lot and are a lot of questions, but keep your grade up and it's not too difficult.
this class was really easy. not much to say about the prof but he was really clear about the assignments.
Nightmare of an online class. Hw assignment every week and 2 tests (final and midterm). Every hw has at least 1 FRQ, which I never once got full credit on. Got 94/100 and 114/120 on the tests and that wasn't enough for an A. Any late work is an instant zero no matter what, end of story. Highly recommend taking his class in person to ask questions.
You have one assignment a week, and two exams (midterm, and final). The finals are completely multiple choice, and the homework assignments are too, with 1-2 free response paragraphs. The textbook is a bit expensive, but quizlet helps a lot. Very easy course, very expensive textbook.
