Covers material ineffectively, speeds through power point, which he does not know how to use in a classroom. Frivolous crap. Class was supposed to be from 1500 on, and he was covering 1100. Irritating.
One thing to keep in mind is that Seager is a new professor. So, he is still figuring out the whole teaching thing and actively seeks advise about how he should change things. He abandoned the power point and went to straight lectures. He is extremely knowledgeable and friendly and will go out of his way to help you. He will be a great professor.

Very good teacher, brilliant, entertaining.Teaches the subject well. Just make sure you take really good notes. Am hoping for an A by typing outlines of all notes. His midterms are tough but I learned a lot. He gives a total of three. study both the notes and book. His lectures are very detailed. Take him if you want a challenge and to learn.
Very good teacher thus far. I had a hard time weaving his notes into the book. But once you get into the material, you see where he's going. very approacable and very knowledgable in his subject. I'd take him again if he taught another course.
His lectures don't go with the book too well. He goes out of order on the lectures. His classes are uninteresting, and I do like History. His voice is too... droll. He talks kinda geeky.

Seager's class was what I exactly expected a college level history class to be. It wasn't easy, however if you take good notes and study them (and read the book!) you'll do fine. He listens to his students and their concerns and helps as much as he can. Great professor!
He's friendly and wants to help students, but his lecturing style is very hard to follow. He goes way too fast and skips around in time, which confused most of us in the class. I understand that a college level history class is going to be demanding, but if you're not a history major/not super interested in the subject, take someone else.
Going back to school I just wanted to send it out there for anybody who's gotta take history--take this prof! He's totally into his subject and really helpful to students. You just have to approach him and he'll work with you. Great teacher!
Class was hard, but if you do the readings and come to Seager's lecture you'll do good.
Finally took a history course and was really skeptical about the material being a science person and looking to transfer to a top 10 school. Seager's pretty cool, but a stickler for details. It's evident he's passionate about history. Like the way he brings stuff that happened in the past and shows how it's relevent today. READ and study or sink.
Very hard class. I am not interested in History and was just taking it for my general ed requirements... I dropped it because of the difficulty. Non-stop notes and not very much explaining the info.
love his class. Not an easy A though, but you learn a lot from his class. be prepared to take a lot of notes, because his test is based on lectures and readings. Great guy and kinda funny.
Very har to follow the information in his unorganized slideshows.Only grades by three exams with multiple choice questions and a short essay with no notes allowed. He is a tough grader but strive and you will suceed
Professor Seager's class is hard but he makes it interesting! He has quizzes one week before the exams. Def use the book and take VERY good notes and youll do fine. He makes sure that everyone understands what should be in your notes, but he really cares that students know their history.
Great teacher. His notes are kind of fast, but when you ask to repeat a slide or saying something again he won't be rude. He grades the tests on a 60% for multiple choice and 40% for essay questions, and very leniant on essays.
He is a great teacher. Follow his lecture, take notes. His study guides for the exams will help you immensely if you use them. I got an A for the class. Study ALL of the essay questions, not just one, you'll get a fairly comprehensive overview of what to expect for the multiple choice. Put the stuff in order and remember it for the essay. I
I thought Prof Seager was cool. His lectures seemed fine to me. What was pretty cool was his stories about people and events in history cuz it gave me a better look at Americans and American history. Take him!
Class was interesting. I never cared for history but his lectures are fun and IMPORTANT for exams. his test are 1 essay which he gives a study guide for and 30 questions which are from the lecture. I mean just show up, take notes, do study guide and you'll be fine. i really like this class and hes enthusiastic about teaching it too. takeeee it!
Very good at lecturing and knows the material very well which makes it stick. I enjoyed his class and learned a lot.
Mr.Seager is a wonderful teacher he is patient and extremely helpful. Tests are fairly easy if you study. He honestly made the class very interesting. I HIGHLY recommend taking his class! TAKE HIS CLASS!!!!!!
Prof Seager is a very nice and helpful teacher. He assigns a lot of reading and there is a LOT of notes for lecture. If you keep up on with this, you'll do ok. No essays, but his exams can be tough. Study and ask questions!!
Professor Seager is great at what he does. He definitely loves history and teaches in a clear, concise way. I took him for HIST 6 and HIST 7. Most of the grade is tests so it is important to perform well.
very straight forward. 3 quizes 3 tests. for every test he'll give you a list of essay questions a week prior. study all of them! you do not know which ones he'll use. test are multiple choice and short essay. quizes are multiple choice. He's very good at his job and knows how to keep the class engaged.
This class was easy at the beginning but when it got the middle of the term it was hard.He goes to fast on lectures, but everything on the lecture is similar to the quizzes and tests. there are 3 quizzes (easy) and tests. the final exam is similar to the tests and doesn't cover the entire things learned in class. Barely pass the class but try hard.
great class!
A good professor. He gets really annoyed really easy, but it's funny to see him angry. Does not like it when your late or walk out while he's lecturing. Pretty interesting class. You don't need the book, but you do need to study a lot.
He lectures to fast and you have to take notes quickly before he moves on to the other slide. The tests were based on the lectures and book. He is a good professor and is willing to help his students succeed.
Mr. Seager is seriously the worst. He lectures so fast and his PowerPoints are unclear and useless. He never knows what chapter he is in and although he is easy on the eyes I regret taking him. He is a lazy teacher and is always late to class. Worst of all if you ask a question he he gets upset as if he was annoyed by what anyone would ask. BAD!
Seriously, the best history prof I've taken. You don't have to be a history major or even like history to love his class. Great teacher and VERY helpful!!
He is a good professor, knows what he is talking about. Take notes. You HAVE to study for his class cuz he is really serious. If you're not willing to study and pay attention then you're going to fail. He does curve tests, quizzes, and counts your attendance. Show up and study.
Loved his class. He made the course very interesting and provided details of history that were not part of the course but made it more interesting. Only 3 tests! No papers. Study hard and take lots of notes.
He loves what he does, and it shows. He has a very clear lecture style, and reading the textbook beforehand (although not necessary for some students) only makes this class easier. Tests are 60% multiple choice, 40% essay. He gives study guides with the questions beforehand so you can practice writing out the essays. Fantastic professor.
Seager is a wonderful professor, who's extremely enthusiastic about his teachings. The class is pretty simple, just make sure to take notes and study for the tests!
Seager seems like he'd do anything to limit the amount of work he does. Cancels classes, rushes thru ppts, mixes up names and dates, and does not give feedback.
Seager cancelled 4 classes during summer secession. Slides were incorrect w/ names and dates out of order. He rushes through lectures.Provided almost no feedback and took a long time grading. Gave quiz 2 days b4 the final; didnt hand back til after final.
Great Profesor Im taking him again for California History
Really good instructor. I learned a great about Cal history and Prof Seager made it very interesting.
He really does care about how his students are doing! Seager wants us to have the skills to know who we are as a nation and that comes thru in his lectures. His class is difficult but you will actually LEARN in his classes. He has a good sense of humor which makes the class pretty cool. He gives three midterms, three quizzes - not bad!
Taking his His 7 class right now. It's no cake-walk, but the more I get into the course I realize how much I'm enjoying the material. Prof Seager makes the process of learning history pretty cool despite my not liking history at all! Gives 3 exams (not that bad if u study) and 3 quizzes. Good feedback on the exams!!
What a great professor! He was very knowledgable and enthusiastic. No one ever asked a question that he didn't know the answer to. He prepared the class very well for the quizzes and tests that were part multiple choice and essay format. Definitely take the CA history course!
Just finished his history 6 for the winter term. I am not going lie, the class was not easy. In the beginning I really hated his teaching method. Towards the ending of class it was not so bad. You have to read the book, and just reading his notes is not enough. Somewhat Confusing. Misses class a lot, he missed class once every week. Not an easy A
Seager is amazing!!! I am a history major so believe me when I say I researched everyone of the history professors at RCC and Seager was the best one. If you take good notes then you will get a good grade on the tests because the questions come directly from his presentations. He encourages discussions and is very easy going.
I took Dr. Seager for the winter session, and I must say that he makes History interesting, even though the subject may seem boring. He gives 3 quizzes and 2 exams, not too hard just make sure to read the book and take good notes. Aside from that he's a very chill guy, good looking too! ;)
He is very enthusiastic when he lectures which makes the lectures more interesting. The only problem I had with his course is that your entire grade is based off of quizzes/tests. He doesnt give out study guides so you are supposed to know everything (and I mean everything) from 20+ pages of lecture notes and multiple chapters in the textbook.
Professor Seager is an absolutely insane lecturer and teacher. He really knows his stuff and always makes it relatable to us. I took Cal History with him and it was best choice I could've made. He knows so much about California and especially Riverside and it was super neat to learn about our city. Overall 10/10 and I'm definitely taking him again
Pretty easy grader with pop quizzes to improve your grade won't affect it. Very lecture heavy so be prepared to take lots of notes and pay attention. No homework and can definitely pass without reading the book. Sometimes boring lectures but usually pretty good. Took for winter and was very fast but easy if you pay attention and go to class.
Professor Seagers enthusiasm and passion came through in every single lecture, and history being one of my worst subjects he really made it easier and more fun for me to learn! The entire grade rests in quizzes and tests, there are no assignments. I personally did not use the textbook yet I passed with an A because I attended every lecture.
Took his class for summer and I will say it was not an easy class because of how face paced it was. class consisted only of testing. take good notes and go over your notes !! study for the exams! He gives out pop quizzes(which are easy). overall he is a great professor you can tell he loves what he does and is really enthusiastic with his class.
We only had FIVE pieces of graded work and all of them were either an exam or a quiz, so if you failed 2/5, your grade was in trouble. The teacher, himself, is chill and his lectures are really dope and filled with visual aids, but if you don't read the textbook, you WILL fail or barely pass. This class is an easy A for history majors
Great instructor, makes what can be a dry subject at times interesting and relevant. Fairly easy going, do the reading and take notes during lectures, you will pass. Highly recommended!
Keeps lectures intersecting and keeps you awake especially in a morning class! Easy going and I didn't do the readings because I'm very dyslexic but paid extra attention for his lectures and came everyday! He's a cool guy and makes the information relevant to today
This professors class is simple enough EXCEPT youre only graded by a few things, meaning only 3 quizzes and 2 tests. So if you fail your quiz(s) tough luck. He gives study guides but only bullet points, theres no questions or anything to help, so he literally expects you to KNOW EVERYTHING from lecture and the reading. Overall good class but eh
Seager is awful. He canceled class half the time for the first 8 weeks of class, didnt teach in such a way that the class retained, never responded to any emails, and was not flexible. Dont take him, find someone who isnt a beta
2 tests 2 quizzes 2 pop quizzes I took him for HIS6 & HIS26 he really knows his stuff & makes his lectures interesting but he is lazy. Slides are not in order & he posts them to canvas way late, when i asked about them he was rude. His study guide is useless just random bullets tests based on readings didnt read the book in either class got a B & C
I took this class over summer and it was a nice not too stressful class. Youre graded on 4 things and have two pop quizzes that only count for extra credit. Hes a great professor but the only thing that bugged me sometimes was that his slides were out of order. Make sure you read!!!!!!! Hes a cool laid back professor and always made lecture fun.
Dr. Seager is a great teacher. He explains everything and makes it understandable and clear. He reminds you of tests and quizzes and even hints when an extra credit pop quiz is coming up. There's 1 test, 2 small quizzes, 2 small extra credit pop quizzes, and the final. That's it. No homework. He grades quickly and he's caring. Definitely take him.
I can't recommend him if you're here to learn. I'm sure covid19 made teaching far more difficult, but even before then, things weren't great. He canceled class for a month straight after the 1st class, & never reached out. He doesn't respond to emails. He even put questions on a quiz from chapters we hadn't reached yet. 2 exams & 3 quizzesgrade.
Very good professor! However, keep in mind that there are no other graded assignments and you are only being graded on quizzes, pop quizzes, and the final. They're easy if you keep up with lectures and readings. He also lets you know when the pop quizzes are gonna be. Just keep up and you'll pass!
Took him for the winter. Liked that his grading system was simple and his grading scale was curved, meaning an 85-100 was an A. The only assignments were 4 quizzes that were 15 questions each and 2 pop quizzes that were 5 questions each. His questions were about main topics and important historical figures. Perfect class for short term semesters!
so happy I got into this class. I was waitlisted. First time taking an online course and Seager made it easy and non-stressful. God Bless him. Take him you wont regret it
Enjoyed Mr. Seager's class a lot. I'm not a history buff and I did well. He only lectures (but does supply powerpoint slides). I learned a lot during his lectures and he is pretty funny. There are NO ASSIGNMENTS, NO PROJECTS! Only tests (15 m/c questions, I think) and 2 quizzes (5 m/c questions, I think). Very doable class!
I took this class in person and I'd say that professor seager and the class as a whole wasn't too bad. If you want to do well, make sure to pay very close attention to his lectures since he does talk about a lot as well as take good notes and show up to class because he does have pop quizzes randomly. My only concern was that he never put in grades
If you are not a good test taker, then don' expect the best from this class. He gives no assignments so you cannot fall back onto anything if you fail a test. There are four tests: 1 quiz, Midterm, 1 quiz, Final. There will be pop quizzes but they only help your grade. That's if you know your stuff. He speaks really fast, goes off topic.
Dr Seager is one of those profs who's fairly popular on campus. So, he's gonna have haters and those who want to take his classes again! Took HIS 26 a year ago and loved his class. He changes up his assignments a bit, but usually a midterm, Quizzes and a Final are required. He gives study guides for the exams way in advance. Overall a great teacher
Have taken Dr. Seager's other classes. He's just a really good prof. He encourages the class to talk about history and even got some of the more shy people to speak up. Really enjoyed his class!
I took his course during winter in 2022, we only went to in person classes 3 times and then it was converted into an online course. He had the lectures posted and you could login whenever. It was semi-easy but the lectures are really long and he speaks very fast so if you can't write/type fast I would suggest not taking his class in person.
A great prof!
no homework assignments but you definitely want to pay attention to his lectures & take good notes. there's no homework so you definitely want to study for the midterm & final too, they're not tough, its just a lot of information. you need the textbook to read more into the lecture he's discussing but the class is definitely worth it
Professor Seager is a professor I would highly recommend taking for your HIS-7 Course. While he does rely heavily on lectures, they give you enough information you will need to get a good grade or even a 100% on your midterm and final exams. He does give two extra-credit pop quizzes throughout the term.
Seager is the best professor I have had so far, although the class is lecture heavy he keeps it interesting and doesn't put you to sleep. I took him during the winter so our grade depended only on quizzes and tests but as long as you pay attention and take notes you will do good on the tests, quizzes, and exams. Highly recommend taking his class.
Take good notes for the quizzes and study hard for the midterm and final. They both have a questions and essay portion. He keeps the lectures entertaining so we're engaged, but you also gotta read the textbook before class so you retain information better. Overall, this class was a pretty easy A. Definitely recommend.
To be honest, Professor Seager was an excellent teacher. Despite the fact that I took the course over the summer, it seemed rushed. I couldn't keep up with him much of the time since he spoke so quickly. I'd rate him a 7 out of 10.
Have taken a few of Dr Seager's classes and he's a great teacher. I think what stands out is his experience lecturing and his knowledge of history. Would highly recommend him as other people have taken his classes and say the same thing.
When he dedicates one day to a particular theme, he's funny, entertaining & concise. Often he tries to cover too many figures and materials at once and reminds me of the Pepe Silvia scene. He'll say "you need to write this down" then change the topic three times so you have no idea what to write down. Do the readings before class to try to keep up.
One of things I really liked about dr Seager was his attention to explain complex histories and highly recommend him. Make sure to read before lectures. He is lecture heavy. Aaaand, students love his extra credit pop quizzes.
I read a lot of comments on to rate my prof. He was great hands down. I learned a lot.
I really liked Dr Seager's lectures not because they were informative, but I finally got to understand certain parts of US history that he explained very clearly. Have taken 2 of his classes and am thinking about another one. Great teacher!
You can tell he's been teaching a while. Great class and I learned quite a bit.
Great Professor, he is really passionate about teaching history. The lectures are very informative. The only problem are his tests and quizzes.(Multiple choices and Long Essay Questions ) He does help you by giving out EC-pop quizzes. You just need to put in the time to study.
I took his course for the winter and loved it. He's very conscious of how much information is packed into the 6-week course, which makes his grading more lenient. The only thing I can really say to watch out for is that his lectures can be considered fast-paced, but if you miss anything, the book does a great job of filling in the blanks.
Dr. Seager was a really chill teacher he's very precise on his grading and teaching and lecture was quick.
I really didn't like history when I took dr Seager's class. But now I want to take another class he teaches. He just knows how to teach.
I'm an English major. I thought this class would boring. I heard his class was different. They were right. I was amazed how he made history relevant. I totally recommend him.
History is my worst subject, but his lectures were actually interesting to me, you can tell he cares about teaching and if you understand it. The admissions office hadn't been communicating with me or Professor Seager about my enrollment in the class, so he argued with them for 30 minutes just to get me in. I'd take any of his classes again.
I took some classes in high school, but when I took his class I really started to see. He's different one on one. When you talk to him he's more low key and then he really talks about lecture. I love this class.
I've taken a couple of dr Seager's classes. I just really like his style of teaching. His exams are fair, but you have to study. Lots of details. I thought this class would be boring. Nope. He's a really good lecturer and you remember the details.
As long as you pay attention, take notes, and study it should be an easy class. He says to read the book also but I didn't read any of it and still finished with an A. It's very lecture heavy but he's funny so it doesn't feel all that boring.
As long as you pay attention and take notes during lectures you should be fine. He says to read the book as well but I never read it and still passed with an A. His grading system also makes the class super easy. For example, 65% is considered a C instead of a D.
you can tell he's extremely passionate about history, I find that admirable. Very understanding but his lectures are heavy but highly informative.
Dr Seagers history 7 was my first college class and even though it was alot of information in a short period his lectures were engaging and his passion for history was pretty inspiring. He also gives pop quizzes that add to your test scores so make sure you show up to all your lectures!
Dr. Seager was nice but IF YOU ARE NOT GOOD AT QUIZZES AND TEST I RECOMMEND SOMEONE ELSE!!!!!
A good first time college class. While attendance isn't mandatory you do want to be their for lectures and the pop quizzes. No open note quiz/midterm/final but as long as you take notes and attend lecture you will be fine. I went off just lecture notes but still recommended to read just in case.
Prof Seager has great lectures and I learned a lot. He really cares about students and it shows. Perhaps group assignments would be nice, but I really his class.
