Mr. Sherry is one of the sweetest guys. Super easy to understand all the material he gives. You can ask the same question a thousand times and he will still explain it to you without getting ****y. I hadnt passed math before i took him. He doesnt take attendance or **** about being late. Take him
he's awesome! And a hottie too! he never got frustrated with students and if you ask ridiculous questions, he won't make fun of you. He would be willing to spend a lot of time with you to help you out if you don't understand. he's clear and good at lecturing. he's a super nice guy. TAKE HIM!!!
He is super! And, level headed as they come. He has the patient and insight of someone much older. I would take any of his classes.
My only concern was that he said that things were easier than they were, so time was not spent too long on any topic. Also: DO THE MINITAB projects or they can severely affect your grade (they are easy). Last thing: show up to class or you can get lost.
he's a nice guy but i thought his class was really hard. he cares about his student's grades and tries his best to help. he is really hard compared to the other stats teachers though. oh and his sense of humor is usually great but he can be a bit of a jackass. (take mucha)
He's really funny guy and he is always sure to answer any questions for you so you don't get lost. He doesn't get upset, he's really level headed and keeps his cool and likes to joke. Bring jokes on fridays and get out early.
Great teacher, he is really helpful, adn fun. he maks math more understanding and easier. i think he is great and really HOT. one problem he is married. but that is ok in anothe rlife. oh i have an A in the class so its not just his looks but they always help
He is the best math 103 teacher ever!!!. I highly recommend him to anybody that is takeing this class or any other math class. He even lets you complete your test over again for some extra points. He is supper nice, funny and, understandable . Take him and u'll definitely pass!!!
best math teacher yet.
he is a dork and a bit boring. not the best teacher here either. btw--he's not cute, he will be bald by 30! try mucha.
Very clear and understanding teacher. Takes the time to do any and all hw probs and prepares all material covered in class cleanly. Definately the best math teacher ever
I like his class. It was hard and easy to get behind in. He confused me in the lecture or went to fast sometimes.
The best math teacher i have come across yet. and He is something nice to look at.
good teacher, funny, but uses the same jokes too much, very clear, helpful, pushes you a lot. gives a lot of tests as well (6 in the semester). knows the subject like the back of his hand.
he DOES use the same jokes a lot! he's a fair grader, good teacher. he gives u chances to earn xtra pts on tests. his tests are pretty challenging cuz he likes theory. very helpful, offers some xtra credit. recommended for calc I. he's hot.
awsome teacher...but very hard class to take in the summer time!!! He devotes a lot of his time to his students, and he's pretty laid back and down to earth!
great instructor! always willing to help and he's a cutie too!
i definitely recommend him. lots of extra credit opportunity. very fair grader. you can tell he is passionate and really cares. is always willing to help. everything he does is for benefit of the students. Be warned: he shows up everyday, and on time. no cancelled classes. he gives random quizes in the beginning too
I have had nothing but luck with math professors at COC. Bob Tolar, Dennis Morrow, and now Mike Sherry. Out of any math class I have had at COC, this had to be the most interesting. He really keeps you engaged, he makes fun of himself a lot. All around, if you want to pass, take this class. Extra credit. Really engaged with his class!!!!
I loved Mr. Sherry! He is so helpful and always available to his students. I probably would not have made it through this class if it were any other instructor. Thanks Mr. Sherry!
Sherry's one of the best math teachers I've ever had! I you don't understand, he'll break the equation down to the stupidest detail until you get it. I've never been eager to attend my math classes before him... Oh, and he likes to draw pictures. They're funny but helpful.
great teacher! I believe I can only pass HIS math classes! :( I always fail and dont understand other teachers! I guess because he makes himself very clear before moving to the next topic and he is easy to get along with!
cutie. very, very helpful. Explains everything great. very, very good at teaching.
He is straight to the point with his lessons. HW is weekly - managable if time is an issue. His tests are fair, often selecting problems previously reviewed from the HW or lecture. He sympathizes if you're struggling in the class and will do his best to help you out in any fair way possible.
I wish I was taking him now!!!!!!! I need him to pass!! This is by far the BEST instructor!! BOOOOOOO GERDA!!!!! SHERRY for PRESIDENT!!!!
i took the online class.. it was really hard to teach yourself everything.. if your not good at math i suggest you dont take it online.. he seemed like a good teacher and was eager to help but the material was too hard to teach yourself the whole book.. i love math and always gets A's but i got a C in this class
I've taken ~7 online classes at COC. This is the best professor ever. Sherry is active in discussion boards and answers e-mail promptly. Also an *excellent* math teacher - I'm very bad at math but I passed this class. A+ to prof. Will recommend to all.
Very cool guy his class is on the hard side but he is very helpful. He made the class kind of fun. I recommend him.
The best math teacher i have ever had! such a good teacher! funny and he really tries to keep you interested in lecture. I wont take another math teacher after this guy!
Super cute and nice. Very good teacher. Makes some mistakes on the board so pay close attention don't zone. Not too hard, he makes it interesting. Definately will take math with him again. <3
Awesome teacher. I'm absolutely horrible at math and he made it relatively easy to understand. Study for his tests and you'll do well. My only complaint is that he made the final out to be easier than it actually was, and I didn't study adequately enough for it.
He is so not that cute as people are saying! Yeah, he's got a nice smile, but he has a comb-over because he is loosing a lot of hair. He has a pretty dorky sense of humor. Good at teaching math and he is a real nice guy though.
Sherry ROCKS. He knows just what to teach to help the students understand. His homework is a fair amount, which is good, because some calc teachers OVERWHELM you with homework. Tests are easy if you understand the material. If you don't do well, he also allows for extra credit when you go back and fix the errors you made on your test.
he is hilarious
Calculus is a hard class if you aren't good at at math like me, but Sherry made it so even if you get a D average that you can pass the class with a C. Just do all you homework and ask questions...ask for extra credit by correcting the test. The teacher made a hard class passable..HIGHLY RECOMMENDED if you are not gifted in mathematics.
This teacher is cool. Sometimes, you may not understand what he is doing on the board, but if you just pay attention and come to every class and do your homework, it should be a breeze. I passed his CALC class with an A. Don't forget to ask questions because he makes a lot of mistakes on the board.
GREAT TEACHER!!!!! Cares about his students and alot of time in class studying! Easy as long as you do the work!
Very good class and Mr. Sherry was great!! Learned a lot.
Chill teacher, do your homework and its not to difficult, don't do it and your screwed.tests arnt to bad he reviews the day before.would recommend.
Awsome teacher!!! Took him twice for two diff math classes. Made a hard hatefull subject very fun and enjoyable. Makes you wish all teachers were like him.
Great teacher! Keeps you interested and can be quite funny. This class was not easy but not impossible either. Do your homework, show up for class, and put in a little study time before tests and you should have no problems passing.
He was a cool teacher, took him for two classes actually. I really really liked him for the first class, and I think he did awesome in the 2nd, it was more a problem on my end. He was a great understanding teacher and really tried to help and make things clear.
SHERRY IS AWESOME!! I took him for three classes now and I am so glad that I did! He seriously tries so hard to work out any problems you are having with certain topics and he is pretty funny when you learn his sense of humor. Most important thing: GO TO CLASS & DO THE HOMEWORK. Otherwise, like with any math class, you wont pass.
gorgeous teacher, but you have to get to know him to think so. great personality, fair and a decent teacher. i just liked looking at him everyday, his class filled up fast and i was unable to take him again, to my dismay :(
He was an awesome teacher. Yes, you should be at class every day as well as do your homework, but if you do these things and take notes you will pass. He was very helpful and clear when teaching. I enjoyed his class very much.
such a legit teacher. if you do all your hw, and get D's on every test you'll pass for sure.
Sherry is straight forward teacher- he'll tell you what's going to be on the tests and he tries to help you out as much as possible. I've taken two classes with him and done well in both. There are also extra credit opportunities and he makes daunting topics easy by breaking them down. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. Would take him again if i needed more math!
Summer/Hybrid/Online: LOTS of homework, don't put it off. Online class not recommended if you've never used a graphing calculator, especially for statistics. Not recommended if you're allergic to technology, but if you're reading this, then you _might_ be OK (a little bit of new software). Take the normal class, Sherry is great at explaining stuff.
best math teacher I've ever had.. I learned so much with him, u will never get bored! he's super funny.. just do the hw and go to class!!
great teacher, very funny, very patient. I'd recommend him.
Just took him for math 60 over the summer. Other than the pace of the course.. he was an awesome professor! He prepares you for his tests, and best of all he is straight forward and no tricks! Very funny too. Take him!
BEST math teacher I've ever had! Statistics is not easy, but Prof. Sherry makes it understandable and fun. Come to ALL lectures,DO THE HOMEWORK, go to his website and print out his lecture notes b4 class; follow along and take notes. If you're having trouble, go to office hours. Word of caution: do NOT depend on final to raise your grade.
Such a good teacher and very clear on the material. Love this teacher!
Professor Sherry is by far the best math teacher I have ever had. He is clear on what he wants, what he expects, and his teaching style. He's also very helpful and a fair grader. Take this class!!!
Sherry was a great teacher! He helps his students so much and is willing to keep going over the material until you understand it. Take math with Professor Sherry!
Very helpful and clear on material. Uses txt book to assign hw. Fair grader. Took 060 over the summer and i can say that i lucked out randomly choosing this professor (A). Rarely makes mistakes. Good person. Engaging. Gets students involved and helps you out when you can't figure out a problem. Funny guy. Makes math fun.
This is by far the best math professor I have ever taken. He is amazing. It's not that he is an easy A; however, he is CLEAR and knows how to teach. For the first time, I actually understood algebra in the clearest way possible. PHENOMENAL PROFESSOR!!! Respect him, because he really cares about his students.
Professor Sherry has been by far the best math professor I have ever had. He knows his stuff and really knows how to teach.I have never understood math until taking his class. He has a great sense of humor and is straight forward when it comes to the tests. I highly recommend Professor Sherry. Wish I could take him for all of my math classes.
Please respect this professor. He is by far the most intelligent/caring professor I had at COC. Students that talk over him bother me because they should be very thankful to have him. Math 070 is a hard class, but this professor takes his time to make 070 as clear as possible. He wants his students to pass. Work hard. Put the time in. You'll pass.
A month into the semester and I am so glad that he is my teacher. He is so clear and really wants to help his students pass. I hope to have him for all my math classes because he is just that good! Plus, not so shabby on the eyes =]
Best teacher I've ever had. I've never been able to understand Algebra until I took his class. Cares so much for his students and is so nice. Also very funny! He made us laugh every class period. Very fair grader. Anyone would be lucky to have him as an instructor!
Seriously thee best Math teacher I've ever had! I had to transfer out of a horrible teacher's class cause I was failing (not my fault) and as soon as I took his class it ALL made sense! He takes the time to guarantee we all understand the material! Fair grader! Do all the hw and you'll pass the tests for sure! His online notes are a GREAT help too!
Mr. Sherry rocks!!Best math teacher I have ever had without a doubt! He is super nice and super clear. He takes the time to go over all questions. HW is not mandatory but if you want a good grade then do it. It was a fun semester!
Mr. Sherry is an excellent teacher. He is very intelligent but very personable. He will always take time to help you with anything you don't understand. Do your homework, study and pay attention in class. He is a very fair grader.
He is super helpful. Great sense of humor. He is a fair grader and pretty much reviews exact test questions before every exam.
My absolute favorite teacher at coc hands down. He is really funny and super helpful. Just do the homework, study, and ask questions! Took this over summer and actually really enjoyed going to class! highly recommend taking class with him!
He is a great guy. Has a great sense of Humor. Took his class of summer. It was pretty rough because its 15 weeks of math combined into 5 weeks. But in the end well worth it. Do the homework, ask questions, and study, and you will be fine. He is very Clear and pretty funny loves to make joke. Wish he was teaching Math70 :(
Excellent math professor! Very Clear with everything pertaining to class. Shows interest in making sure you understand concepts it's all up to you to ask questions, do the homework and come to class.
N He was a good teacher. Taught Like a teacher should. Tests are straightforward but a little difficult. Nice Chill dude. Take him if available and study for his tests. He likes cranberry sauce and negative problems
He is honestly one of the best math professors at COC. If you have a choice between him and anyone else take him. He is nice and cares about teaching. Plus, he has a nice sense of humor. His tests are pretty easy and fair. You can do very well in this class if you take the time and effort to study.
Great class to take if you have math comprehension problems. He is VERY helpful, will answer and explain any questions you have. His class is well organized and set up. His teaching style is very helpful and easy to understand. I passed this class with a B+, and I've had a hard time with Algebra in the past. DEFINITELY take his class if you can.
I found this professor to be one of the hardest at COC. He is a funny guy and a great person, but his tests are ridiculous. His tests were not related to the homework and required you to think conceptually.
Great Math teacher. I do not "hate" Math but I definitely do not like it by any means. Professor Sherry knows how to relate to his students and teach this unliked subject in understandable ways. Do the HW and the tests answers will come naturally. I got a "C" due to family stuff at home throughout the semester but would have easily got an "A".
Nice Guy, good teacher, nonetheless,Idon’t recommend him. This class is too important and he can be inflexible. His class is poorly structure. He puts too much weight on final which replaces lowest grade.Had B average, was attempting to get A, but bad day on the final pull down grade to C destroying chance to transfer. One exam ruined two years of work
Sherry is a great person that knows how to explain Calculus I very well. He gives various examples to help understand the concepts. His tests are somewhat challenging, but manageable. Has a good sense of humor and will help if you ask. Definitely recommend him to anyone that needs Calc I.
The most amazing professor i have ever had!! His teaching style is awesome. I wish i had him for all my classes. He teaches the lessons so clear that we have plenty of time to work on homwork, joke around as a class and have break time. He is really funny and laid back which makes you more relaxed and focused in class. 5 stars!!!
Great Professor! Very helpful and is easy to follow. He is very passionate about teaching and math so he teaches for students to learn, so you succeed.
I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND Prof. Sherry for anyone taking Math. I HATE MATH and Prof. Sherry makes Math interesting & fun. A majority of my class passed in the tough fast paced condensed Math 60 PAL course. He is a funny guy who keeps you interested in Math. His tests are not too hard but you have to do the homework, study and try. I got the A !
I DESPISED math, but professor Sherry made it kinda fun and easy. He cracks jokes throughout the lecture and gets easily side tracked into the students off topic conversations, but he's really chill. Homework is mandatory and there's A LOT of it. Honestly, attendance isn't really mandatory because he never takes role. But his final exams are INSANE
Michael Sherry was a really fun teacher. He kept you interested in math by telling stories and by making people laugh about the most random things. He is pretty clear on the concepts covered in class and what he wants out of his students.
Great teacher. Math is a tough subject for me, yet he always finds a way to word things so you can understand it. Gives very reasonable amounts of homework, tests are straight-forward. He's not a curve-ball type of guy (doesn't try to trick you on tests, teaches you only what is necessary and cuts out the superfluous material) which I like a lot.
If you are as unsure about math as I was, I recommend taking Sherry. His class is fun and, for math, not boring. There is a lot of homework and a quiz every other week. He is very clear on what he will test you on so if you study those, you'll be okay. His finals are ridiculous tho, if math resides in your short term memory it's hard to get an A.
He's such a good teacher, time flies by in that class because either you're learning something or doing homework.. and although he gives alot of homework, it gives good practice to help you understand. He's also really funny and super helpful and the way he teaches is so easy, it's impossible not to understand. TAKE HIM OVER EVERYONE ELSE :D
BEST math teacher EVER! Professor Sherry's explanations are clear, and he has a passion for teaching and wants to see his students succeed! Math is not my favorite subject- I was dreading taking this class, but he is SUPER funny and time flies! Tests are exactly as he describes, no trick questions! Do the hw, study, show up! HIGHLY recommended!
Mr. Sherry by far was the best teacher in my college experience. I had not taken a math class since 1987 and he was able to explain things clearly and without being condescending. I really felt like i learned the material. For some, they found this class easy and for others it was the hardest thing i had ever done. He really does care about you!
Mr Sherry is a good prof. Posts notes online that you can print & fill in during class. I would say do show up to class or risk not understanding. He is approachable. Tests are moderate in difficulty but he steps up the final making it tougher by a lot. Allows e-book. Drops lowest test for the final. Lots of homework.
really good teacher. Makes learning easy, do all your homework and ask questions, you will get an A. One of the best teachers ive had in math so far.
Mr. Sherry is an amazing professor who will help his students to the best of his ability. This class is hard, but that is a given, I mean it is Calculus. But, Mr. Sherry is amazing, fair, and extremely helpful; he helps remove the fear of calculus step by step. I would not have taken Calculus with another professor. Take him!
Professor was very clear about criteria and what it took to pass. My fault for not passing but professor was very helpful and very caring about his students. Make the class entertaining and not just an average class. Wish I could retake with him.
Mr Sherry is really nice. His lectures are pretty good since he throws real life situations into the mix. He is really helpful when it comes to homework questions. The very hefty homework assigned is only to help you on further test. He will drop the lowest test and replace with the final.
Mr. Sherry is a good teacher, especially if you plan on being a math major. His class is not easy, but I feel he explained the concepts well. He's always willing to help if you ask for it. His tests are fair game, if you did the homework and understand it, you'll do fine. Final merges multiple concepts together, which is hard. Inspired me to teach.
By the way,Sherry doesn't give reviews, but he does have Review days. So you cannot just remember how to do one problem. DO NOT PROCRASTINATE. Study a week prior. Study concepts AND problems. Go to the TLC when you need help, because Calc is a fast paced class. He's hard but you will learn. If you do all of that you will get an A. Merit based clas
Professor Sherry was a pretty good math teacher. He explained basic trig concepts in ways I was never taught in high school, and it was very helpful. However, he doesn't have a consistently structured way of teaching like I have been used to, which made the end of the semester difficult. But he was caring, funny, and did his best to help us learn.
Look if there were ever a time to write a bad review for a teacher this would be your guy since I don't know where, to begin with, how bad he genuinely is. Not only is he a pretentious individual but rather on top of that he is a sarcastic one with not an ounce of care for the student in his class. He may have been a pretty chill teacher back in the day or when he first started teaching math, but he is far from what people describe him to be. Look I'll be blunt with you on how this class is broken down pretty much find a way to do well on his tests by any means necessary or prepare to fail his class that's about it. Homework does help and if extra credit is offered that gives you a decent boost but be prepared not to rely on the final in the class. Even though it does replace the lowest test grade it could very much be your lowest test grade by the end of the semester. As a consensus amongst students who have taken him during the last fall and spring semester, the final easily dropped grades in the range of 4%-8%, so just a heads up with that in mind going into the final.
Sherry is a really good math teacher, he really knows what he is doing and makes it easy to understand. He is real with you when something is going to be hard or not and takes some questions on the test right from the homework. Tests are sometimes hard and you should study. Final was very had. Great teacher still.
Sherry is nothing like all these 95 reviews describe him to be. Out of my entire college experience, he is by far the worst professor I have ever had. His tests are on nothing he teaches you in class, his notes are useless, and you won't be able to do about 80% of your homework on your own. If you actually want to learn and pass, do not take him!
tests are pretty much the whole grade, really hard to not fall asleep, assigns two lessons of homework per class. my first ever C . He tries to explain stuff when you have questions but never really helped me. sorry sherry
He's a great teacher. Very descriptive and funny. He makes you think the class is going to be hard, but its really not, especially if you pay attention. If you are slow at math, just take the 2 courses separating them, because he's one of the best math teachers here, but he will not single you out individuals. There are too many students for that.
I took his class for math70 he is very straight forward he does lecture through the whole class and does not waste one minute so don't depend on leaving early. Participation points for attending just pay attention and always do your homework that he assigns after every class meeting he gives you the material you use it order to pass.
He was a really nice professor but I found his teaching so confusing. Barely any preparation/review given for the difficult & lengthy exams. So many of us were struggling in his class and barely passed. He does put notes online that you can bring to class but Calc is difficult & must be taught carefully, which I believe he failed at doing.
His notes and syllabus are online. He's pretty thorough in explaining things so if you don't pay attention during class, its hard to learn it on your own. Overall, he's decent teacher. Study hard, practice lots (understand conceptual stuff) and the A will come pretty easily.
It's a math class, so a lot of the difficulty in the class was from the subject rather than the teacher. He's pretty easy going and a standard math teacher. He's one of the funnier math teachers here, but other than this he's pretty nondescript
He is super funny so it definitely helps to not fall asleep in class.
i took math 060 over the winter semester and im terrible at math so i thought it would be hard for me to learn it all so quickly but he teaches really well and has a review before tests which helps a lot and he also ask the class if they have any questions on homework he is a great math teacher !!
Great math professor, explains everything well and makes time to answer your questions. Doesn't rush class ever. He also has a very funny sense of humor. His tests are very easy. You will use the book and there is also a lot of homework, but I think that is just this class.
Best math professor I have ever had, he makes math fun to learn. He clearly explains things and if you don't understand he is more than gladly to help you. His tests are short, homework is long but necessary. Some of the homework requires extra reading the book, highly recommend getting solutions manual for homework. Great professor!
Professor sherry is a good professor he wants you to succeed but his test are hard and short. He lets you do homework in class for the rest of the day. He doesnt want it the next class he wants it the next Monday/Tuesday. So its like a packet.
Hated this class. The teacher was pretty cool. He grades homework based on if you did it or not. I didn't like that. If i was doing something wrong, i would not know. Has a bit of tests. and a lot of homework. You spend most of the class doing homework.
His tests are tough mostly cuz they're only like 10 problems. No EC at all. The hw is graded on whether you did it or not & due every Tuesday. The thing with this professor is he won't really reach out at all unless you do even if you're failing all his tests. You could honestly go the whole semester without speaking a single word to him
Mr. Sherry started off strong by really taking the time to teach us the fundamentals of calculus through limits and derivatives. But then all of a sudden, we hit integration and BAM three weeks worth of material done in a day because he was absent. His final is insanely difficult, so don't rely on that to boost your grade. I suck at math so idk
A great and funny teacher. He makes his expectations for the students clear on the first day of school. As long as you pay attention and do what homework is asked of you, you should pass this class. He is not a scary teacher and it is easy to ask him for help in class.
He takes time with the class to understand the math problems or the ones you do not understand. His lectures, amazing, and teaches very well. I highly recommended him as a math professor.
This professor started off strong but started to not care by the end of the semester. Lectures were shortened and skimmed through. The notes are hard to follow and there are few examples to go off by. If you ask for help he will try, but his explanations are brief. Makes you feel like he just wants to get rid of you.
Really good math teacher. He goes into detail of how the equation works as well as methods he uses to make it easier to solve. While working he will tell different stories and hold random conversations about things outside of class, so it's never boring. Follows syllabus for homework and is accurate. Gets straight to the point and answers questions
By far the best math professor Ive ever had! His lectures are super fun and his way of explaining everything is super easy to understand. And if anyone has any questions, hell go over anything you need him to and the tests are all based on reviews and homework is super important too. Hes funny and keeps you interested in the work!
I really enjoyed taking this class and although it was hard, Professor Sherry made it enjoyable. He gives great lectures, plenty of opportunity for points on exams, and is hilarious. I wish he taught Math 212 as well.
Although he's a funny professor and nice. The lectures werent so good, he didn't show many examples and usually just discussed the formula or theory before sending you off to do homework, so you had to go off of the book examples when they dont do all possibilities, and the final was really hard. I went from having a B aiming for an A to a C b4 it
Best math professor at COC. Makes grading clear, has deadpan sarcastic humor, and gives breaks in class. Homework heavy, but tests are balanced to it, so if you do the homework, you'll have no trouble with the tests. Very clear, very articulate, and unlike most math professors at COC, fluent in English. :)
Probably the best professor I ever had. He made Calc 2 a breeze.
It's a tough class but by the end of it, you'll know Calc 2 inside and out. You can get an A, you just need to put your all into it. Take Sherry!
Lectures went like this- first 30-40 min, he went over HW. Next 30-40 min, he covered material (showed one example, did it, & moved on), then the next 30-40 was spent doing the new section's HW. We basically learned the bare basics of the section, but were left in the dark on the HW. He's cool & all, he just doesn't know how to deliver the material
His lectures are clear and understandable (even for me and I am not that great at math). He tells you exactly what will be on the tests and gives ample time for review. And he is funny. The best math teacher I've ever had!
Let me keep this concise. Clear and understandable. Interesting lecture and fair test. Study and you will pass.
The tests were fair. He explained to concepts that were going to be on the test before we took it. No trick questions. Amazing professor. I highly recommend for upper-division math.
Sherry explained things in simple terms, and was not afraid to answer homework questions. The class structure is very cut and throat. You usually do hw questions and then go into the lecture. Nice, friendly, and lighthearted.
Best professor ever!
Having online school is challenging for most, and Professor Sherry did not make the experience any easier for me. I am unsure how successful he is at teaching in person, but online I found myself trying to listen to the lessons, but unable to understand anything we were learning. I constantly felt lost on the homework and the tests.
No extra credit. Could be more positive and supportive. Never know what you'll get out of lecture, some days more upbeat than others. Worst of it all is does not provide a single practice exam. Exams are very difficult to proficiently study. Trick questions
His lectures are recorded and made available 24/7. Though, I did result to Youtube for most everything we learned lol. Grades are based on homework and exams. Homework is graded by completion (lifesaver) - he's heavy on understanding concepts and also gives partial credit on exams. Apply yourself and refamiliarize yourself with trig - you'll pass.
Mr. Sherry was meant to be a teacher. I am not a math person and trig was intimidating to me but he makes it doable. Lectures are filled with humor, he spends lots of time reviewing homework to make sure you understand the concepts & he really cares about making an online class feel more like an in person class. Highly recommend!
Great professor. I took Calc 2 with two other professors prior and did not do well with either. He is very caring and takes time to go over as many problems as you want. Tests are fair and not too difficult. After finishing his class i appreciate math more as a whole. Take Sherry if you get the chance!
I made an account just to rate this professor. You need to do the homework so that it sets you up for a B or B- before the final. He does assign a lot of homework but the tests have 12 questions each at most. The final was literally 15-ish questions and they weren't complex. He spent time overviewing questions from previous tests we could study.
Mr. Sherry is the best math professor I have had. He does assign a good amount of homework, but it is graded by completion and he spends time every class doing hw problems. Tests are a bit more difficult, but he spends a lot of time reviewing for them and tells you practically every topic on tests. He was an awesome teacher and I highly recommend!
Mr. Sherry was probably the best math professor I have ever had. Don't get me wrong, his class was the hardest class I have ever taken, but he spends so much time making sure his students understand the concepts and are prepared for the tests. If you show up to the lectures, do homework, and PAY ATTENTION DURING THE TEST REVIEWS, you'll pass.
As a person hes a really nice, caring and funny guy. But teaching wise he isnt the best. What he teaches is kinda irrelevant to whats going to be on the exams no study guides either, and what is some what like it is times 20 on the exams. HW is heavy and super confusing. He helps figure it out in class, but u need to teach urself and perfect it
I took him for Calc I and Calc II. Calc II was taken in-person Fall 2021 semester, lectures were fun to follow, and he went through the concepts thoroughly and did many examples. For my class he let us turn in test corrections for extra points to our test scores! There was also an extra credit opportunity. Best math professor at COC!
He's a really chill professor and his grading wasn't too bad. He clearly tells you that there is gonna be a lot of homework but don't let that scare you. His tests are similar to some of the homework problems and he gives you a day of review before the test. He's really easy going and he genuinely tries to help you.
Best Calc professor at COC, third time taking it after withdrawing two times and I passed with an A. Calc didn't seem impossible with his teaching. Gives really good test reviews, just study his examples on lectures and you'll be set on tests because very similar problems.
Perfect - literally my favorite teacher I've ever had he's SO AMAZING! Mr. Sherry I miss you so much. Waitlists fill up SUPER fast though so be careful.
Professor Sherry is amazing! He takes time to answer any and all questions. He was funny and really good at explaining trig in multiple ways so we could understand better. He gives partial credit on problems you get wrong. If you put in effort you will most likely pass. Take his class!
Do not rely on the final to help your grade! Go to class and do the homework (at least put something down for each problem) to ensure a good grade before the final. Tests were straight forward, but hard because they only around 10 questions and 5-10 points each. He offers test corrections which help A LOT.
Prof. Sherry is amazing! He makes Trig fun and easy to understand. He really takes the time to explain concepts and answer all the questions. I am looking forward to taking more math classes with him.
Prof Sherry is hands down one of the best profs I have ever had. You won't be disappointed if you take his class. He tells you topics on every test, specific questions to study from the hw and for the final he does the same thing. I am not a big math person but this class was definitely easier due to Mr Sherry's chill vibe and knowledge! TAKE HIM!!
just Do all the assignments and attend the class just so you won't miss anything .He is super nice and makes every thing easy and the tests are going to be from you assignments .
Prof. Sherry is amazing. His lectures are clear, easy to understand, and he is not afraid to stop his lecture to explain or re-explain things to make sure you understand. His homework can be time-consuming, especially at the beginning of the semester, treat it like practice problems and not like work to get done and it makes it easier.
Best calc professor I've had, his lectures are so simple and easy to follow. He does collect homework, but its doable. If you pay attention to the lectures and study the examples, you should be all set for the tests. Generous with partial credit. Take him if you can!!
Professor Sherry is amazing for Calc 1&2. Waitlists fill up fast though. He's really funny, very nice, does homework problems again, and is a great teacher. He gives a lot of partial credit points too. Calc 2 is not an easy class, and will require you to do a lot of practice and studying for exams. Take Sherry for Calc 2 if you can, hes amazing!
great professor, is able to teach really well, clear on what will be tested. not much else to say besides he's great.
Micheal Sherry is straight to the point and clear with the material he lectures. Especially for Calculus 2 class where the material is dense, he manages to make it possible.Tests are fair. Homework is essential. Just put in the work, and ask questions about the homework and you're guaranteed an A you're in safe hands.
I took Professor Sherry for both calc 1 and 2, and he is without a doubt one of the best math teachers I've ever had. He is for sure the best math Professor in COC, and his classes get filled up fast, so make sure you get registered early. His lectures are great, he offers test corrections, and he makes the class fun and memorable.
Best Calc 1 and 2 professor in COC. Register for his class as fast as you can, his waitlist fills up super quick. The man knows how to teach Calculus!
Without a doubt one of the best professors I ever had. Unbelievably charismatic and intelligent. He knows how to dilute abstract concepts so everyone can understand. Unfortunately, I got a B in this class because I did not study well enough. It is nothing on his part. He is such a great professor.
Professor Sherry, like most people say, is a great professor to have for Calculus. His tests are honestly super easy, and he is an overall really chill teacher. My only complaint is that he spends too long every class going over previous homework problems because it often led to him having to rush through, and sometimes skip, some lessons.
Sherry is a great professor for trigonometry! I am not done with the class yet, but have taken 3 exams so far and have gotten an 80 (silly mistakes on my part), 99, and 98. He allows redo problems so you can get a point or two back. He is super helpful even for things that don't have to do with class, like registering or talking ab jobs. Take him!
Professor Sherry is very caring, respectful, and chill in class. I had three classes with him I can't say anything bad about him. There is just too much homework and some of them aren't even test questions. (60 problems in one week). The tests are not bad, if you study you will do good, but sometimes they are tricky. The final is the hardest.
AMAZING, took for calc 1 and currently calc 2. Lot of homework but just skip the questions that look unnecessary, 2 pages full will get you full credit. exams have 1-2 tricky questions. He doesn't make it harder than it needs to be, if you watch prof leonard to supplement you will get an A guaranteed, my favorite class and prof so far at COC !!!!
Great lectures, tries to make material as easy to understand as possible. Overall pretty difficult material, but he makes it almost easy. There's a good amount of homework, but not too excessive. He keeps the students engaged and you'll find yourself laughing in that class often.
No math mistake could ever scare me, Not with the wisdom of Sherry--Michael Sherry! From sine to cosine, clean and merry, He made trig sweet, like whipped cream cherry. He drew those angles oh-so-wary, Slick with graphs and never airy. My brain was fog, my notes were blurry, then came the light: Sherry! The trig king reigns--long live Sherry!
Mr. Sherry is the GOAT. His lectures are so easy to follow. He also spends about half the class period going over previous homework so you can make sure you understand all of the topics. This is THE math professor to take at COC.
Sherry was chill most of the semester, and then made his final exam completely impossible. He told our class he was going to be mean because he doesn't like that people take his class. I literally had an 89% and he wouldn't round me. Idk if he's changed, but overall he was a good professor and his other exams were very fair.
as a person, Professor Sherry is funny and very understanding. he also makes sure that everyone understands the homework assignments and lectures as best as he can. however, the tests are absolutely TERRIBLE. I didn't go over 85% for any of them. It covers stuff he didn't go over in class; we had to read on our own. thankfully, the final is better.
There's a rumor that Sherry is easy: his tests are NOT easy now, but they are not impossible. He's a really awesome teacher, very personable and makes connections with his students. Basically all of class is office hours, as he will let any student pick homework problems to go over. Assigns LOTS of homework, not all of it relevant for exams.
Professor Sherry was an amazing professor. Lectures were good but you will need to do some studying on the material on your own. Very lenient grader, was a very funny teacher, and homework is graded on completion. However, the final is much harder than all the tests. It is very hard to get an A in this class, but doable if you have no social life.
