Very arrogant and cocky but is a great teacher. My first 095 teacher did not teach as well as him. His test are fair and I would recommend him for any Math 092, 093 student this fall, 2004. He is full of himself but I like professors to be comfident.

Awesome math teacher. TAKE HIM FOR any of the credit/no credit courses. Makes the material easy to understand and shows short cuts. DO THE HOMEWORK it counts for 20% of your grade and trust me it makes a big difference before the final.

the best math teacher i ever had, and i am AWFUL at math, but i passed and did well. he's very clear, and takes an interest in his students. wants to know your name and wants to see you succeed. if more teachers at csun were like him, tons of students would pass their classes first time!

besides the times where im alseep i think im learning somthing, he puts you to sleep but he is pretty helpful.

Really easy class. Silvia explains really well. Never got anything lower than a B on his tests and I'm really bad in math. Gave little homework, and his tests were clear and easy to understand. My best math teacher yet

He is the best math teacher, not too much homeowork. Does not do long lectures, answers questions and gets to the point! Great Teacher!

BEST MATH TEACHER IVE EVER EVER HAD! He really cares about his students. I have NEVER had a math teacher that has so much faith in me. He stayed with me in the math lab for like 2 hours just to make sure I passed. He really made math better for me!

I loved this professor...I took Math with him my freshman year and he was really patient and helpful. He made sure everyone passed the class and he made it easy to understand concepts. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!! :)

Here is some advice. DO THE HW, IT IS WORTH 20% OF YOUR GRADE. So many people got good test scores, but didnt bother with the HW, and ended up barely passing/not passing the class. After you do all the math(pun intended), it turns out if you average a 60 % on all of the tests(final included) but you do the HW, you WILL pass the class. Good teacher.

He was a very easy class. All review and gave very little homework. the test were only a couple of questions and very easy. Highly recommended!!!

i have never enjoyed a math class as much as i did. i hate math, but when i get it, it's fun.. he explains EVERYTHING as many times as it may take.. such an easy class... loved it.. too bad he's only teaching remedial classes.. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! he'll let you know that with ALL the hw turned in, you'll pass!!!

A review class! A review of like 7th grade math. Go to class, pay attention, take notes and study for the tests and you'll do fine!!

this professor's pretty awesome. he really tries to help you out if you need it, not to mention it's an extremely easy class. just be sure to go to class because even though the doesn't take roll, he gives group work everyday and collects the hwk. it's pass/fail so if you don't go to class, you better do amazing on his tests.

He is a really good teacher that will help you until you understand. He explained so well the first time that I was never confussed and I amhorrible at math. He makes the class barable and actually fun. Justshow up and do omst of the homework and you will pass just fine.

He is such a cool teacher. He is very understanding and does all he can to help you pass. As an incoming freshmen he definitely helped me get to the next step of college math with no problem! i would highly suggest you take if you can, but just make sure you attend everyday because you can miss out on alot when youre gone for to long!

This class is extremely easy! Take him for Math 93. Do all your homework, attending class everyday and doing group work, you'll be fine! He's veryyyyy HELPFUL! WONDERFUL INSTRUCTOR! Extremely helpful and nice, and teaches in an way that makes the math very simple to understand.I was struggling before I took the class, and he made it super easy! Wish I had math teachers like him in high school, cause then I would've passed the math placement exam in the first place.

This guy is awesome if you need to take developmental math. I was never good at math, but he explains all the material clearly. He's organized, fair, and attendance is important, but if you take notes, and follow his examples you will easily pass. Highly recommended.

Great professor! He is really nice and great at explaining the material. He goes at an easy pace and his tests are not hard if you know the material. Homework is light and he gives lots of time in class to practice the problems. Take him if you can! :)

Hes really cool and a great pick for a math professor......trust me, you want to take him,... and he dont even give that much homework....

This professor was amazing. He made me understand everything about developmental math. A must have professor. He will probably be the first class to go full. I missed 5 days and came back for the final and he told me i had a 97% in the class and i knew everything on the final haha and final is only 25 questions and homework just about everyday.

Professor Silvia is the best! He breaks down each chapter so simply so it's really easy to understand. There is homework every class, and quizzes once a week. Go over your notes! His notes are wonderful! TAKE HIS CLASS! He's the best

Pretty nice guy trys to make u believe attendance is a must but if u can get the material down on ur own & do the homework you'll be fine.theres 1 pop quiz per week they really count toward ur grade NO Partial credit until the final which really hurts ur grade! doing decent on the final & homework is a must.DONT WAIT 2 THE LAST MINUTE 4 ONLINE WORK

Professor Silvia was an incredible teacher! Without a doubt the best math teacher I've ever had. I struggled a lot in high school with math but if you put forth the effort that he asks (which is not that much) you will easily pass this class. He is great at explaining thoroughly every concept. But attendance is mandatory.

Best math teacher I've ever had! His instructions and lectures are clear, he doesn't worry about details that make math even more frustrating for most of us. He just wants to know we learned and understand the lesson. He is available during office hours and is happy to re-explain anything without making you feel stupid, all while encouraging you!

One of the best professors you'll ever have! I have never been good at math, but he makes it extremely easy. Attend all classes, do all of the homework, and pay attention, and you'll pass. It isn't a difficult class and Professor Silvia is a really nice guy. TAKE THIS CLASS!

One of the best math prof. I had so far!!! His lectures are very clear and he actually takes time from his lecture to help on students on any questions. No midterm, a pop quiz once a week,7 test (only counts 6 drops the lowest one) and a final. He also has reviews on the material a day before the test

If you have to take Math 93 try to get him. You wont regret it!!! I hate math and have always hated it, but his class actually turned out to be one of my favorites. He is nice, very good at explaining concepts, and is always willing to help. Easy workload. Only downside is he has no home computer so he is hard to contact outside of class.

I ALWAYS hated math and was never good at it. After taking his class, I still hate it but he made the material so much easier to understand! He is a lot of help and makes sure you know the material before each test. Don't be afraid to ask questions, he'll be happy to help :)

Professor Silvia is amazingly good! Don't hesitate, TAKE HIS CLASS. I am NOT good at math, but he was so clear and this class proved to be pretty easy in the end. He answers every single question you ask perfectly and he is always in the tutoring room for his office hours, so utilize this! He really cares whether or not his students are doing well.

Legitimately, the best professor/teacher I've ever had. The most helpful and nicest and coolest professor to have around. Always in the math lab during office hours to help you, take advantage of going to the math lab. Liked math after this class. Ooh and for some reason he reminds me of GEazy, think its cause of the face structure.

He teaches math problems in the easiest way possible. Even if you are bad in math, you still can know how to solve. Expect a lot of homework and in-class solving. Expect quizzes. I do not know if they are pop or not but he gives a quiz after each chapter. I got C- because I did not do homework and did not study for final! if you do, it is easy A

Probably the best professor I've had or ever will have! He tells you how the course will go at the beginning of the semester & he sticks to his word. He teaches so that the student will understand. He encourages you to ask questions. I've always hated math until I took his class. Don't miss class though you'll miss a lot! AWESOME professor overall!

I took his class I think in 2013 but I honestly wish Silvia taught other math courses because he is the only math teacher that was able to help me understand math. When I took him, nothing was "hard". He answered all sorts of questions and was an easy guy to talk to. I would highly take him again if he taught another math course.

Took the class because I had been out of school for 2 years, Professor Silvia's class is easy. It's a CR/NC class so so long as you stay on top of your homework/tests you should be fine for the class portion. Gotta score a 50% on the final so make sure you pay attention if you intend to move on to the next math class. He's cool, super old-school.

PROS: Nice, there for you when you have any questions, class is pretty clear from day one, Professor makes you enjoy math (and this is coming from someone who hates it), really funny CONS: if you really have a tough time with math, his lessons can go a little fast from what I have seen, tests every week or so, quiz every week, lots of homework

Professor Silvia is an amazing math professor. Students who don't bother to show up to class always complain about grades and it is not the professor's fault. He's outstanding and a pretty chill professor. Made Math 093 a lot easier than I thought it would be.

Professor Silvia is great! He makes Math 093 really easy and fun. He gives students so many opportunities to pass, so if you don't it's on you. I enjoyed this class and found it to be really easy. There are quizzes every week, but they are easy. I definitely recommend him. If he were to teach other math classes, I would take him no doubt.

he gives awesome lectures, be sure to take a recorder because sometimes you can miss out on what he is saying. BEWARE HIS TESTS, he tries to make the question overly complicated to confuse you, which it honestly does, he should try to make them more straight forward, they just end up sounding too confusing to understand. DO NOT BUY BOOK

This professor is the best! He is right about what he says,"if you don't show up to class, you will not pass" He is very helpful to every student that needs help and cares if you are doing badly in the class. He will give you the opportunity to take an exam if you could not make it on test day. I suggest you to always go to class!

Professor Michael is a great professor. He is very genuine and caring but there is also your part as a student to do all the work given because Professor Michael is willing to help you at any time. I know math is hard, trust me I've been there, but Professor Michael tries to make it as easy as possible, and less overwhelming as possible!

Professor Silvia is a fantastic professor he truly cares about his students. He is always sending time in the tutoring lab willing to help students some more. He is also grading tests pretty fast and has them up on xyz as soon as possible. I would take him again for my text math class if I could.

I am horrendously terrible at math, but Professor Silvia is always there to help and will never make you feel stupid. Really appreciates hard work and attendance. Very understanding and his biggest goal is to help you pass, rather than humiliate. Tutors walk around the class room along with him as he personally helps every student, very devoted!

I have him for 196S and I can definitely say his class is not bad at all as long as you pay attention. The homework and exams are all on XYZ. He is very understanding. He does lecture kind of fast but if you have any questions he will stop to explain. He even adds his zoom lectures on canvas in case you miss something.

All you need to do is pay attention and take notes. Class is pretty easy not only because of the material but because he is very clear and loves helping. His TA, Gustavo, also deserves the hype because he was also really helpful. He really made this whole online thing a breeze. Every homework and test are XYZ but there are weekly quizzes.

This class was pretty easy and I like how he dedicates about 15 minutes at the end of class to gives up time to start the homework in groups. I would not take his class again because I hate math but he is a pretty chill teacher and he genuinely cares for his students.
