Kind of a windbag but overall good professor. He does drive home his points with rousing lectures that I found entertaining and useful. The book material is tough but quite germane to a career in business.

Doesn't dink around with the law, just makes you think with the law! If you're a jerk, he treats you like one. If you're interested in getting smarter, he's there for you.

Very, very easy class with minimal effort as long as you go to class and pay attention. If you don't go to class you will not do well. Class was a reasonably good survey of Business, but does not teach much.

I took BLAW 2 with him after an 8-year absence from my BLAW 1 with him! I remembered his lectures, passion for his subject, and his efforts to help you understand the fundamentals of our legal system. He can be tough, but an A can be had if you work for it. Not picky on dates or trivia like other profs, concentrates on the concepts. Great teacher!!

He's a great guy and jokes around a lot! His class is simple in the sense of what to do to receive a good grade. I would definitely recommend him!

Great instructer. He was honest about the workload of the course, but was ontop of it the whoel way. Great lectures, lots of humor to keep us awake through a studious subject. Symdra knows his stuff, too. It was a privalege taking this class.

This guy knows his stuff and he is passionate about it. He is also passionate about teaching it and making sure his student get it. He doesn't sugar coat anything, including the workload of the class. But I thought if you went to class and paid attention and read the book, you were ok. The book is dry but I have kept it to this day!

I didn't really know anything about Management before I took this class. This professor know so much about the subject and I was surprised that he was teaching at a community college.

He is a decent teacher. At times he can be somewhat....violent. Not in terms of hitting students or anything but joking about throwing them out windows, shooting jokes. He knows his business though. He knows what he is teaching. If you don't want a 5o question test every week, do not take this class.

This class is a lot of studying. But the he makes the class very interesting for a very boring subject. He finds away to keep you a wake during the subject. He loves to repeat himself. This is a teacher with passion for anything business. He is a great teacher, just learn to put up with him repeating over and over...most people will need it. He knows a lot about a lot and is willing to share it with anyone who is truly interested. His classes are very hard because the subjects are difficult.

Smydra says everything at least twice. This can be very helpful and annoying. You will learn a lot of stuff from this CLOWN. Smydra is a excellent professor with great passion for business. 50question quiz every week!! You must read in order to pass this class. Smydra has made me a better student

If anyone ever does not understand US business law before this class they certainly will after this class, I guarentee it.

Mike Smydra is one of the best/smartest people I have ever met. I have taken him for every class he teaches and wish I could take him for more. If you are a serious student he is the teacher for you. His lectures are crystal clear, and he grades fairly. He applies real life examples to the theories of business, and does it well. He is the BEST!

I have recommended this teacher to many of my friends, and they always come to me after taking his class and thank me for letting them in on the secret. The secret of course is that OCC Royal Oak has the best business teacher around, and his name is Smydra. Fix him into your schedule, you won't regret it.

Smydra was very helpful, I am taking another class of his. I found him helpfull, funny, and straight forward. If you take notes and pay attention and do the readings (easy) you WILL pass.

he does appeals which are nice if you want to argue the question fromt he test. even though he repeats himslef, it is necessary because not everyone in the class gets it the first time ( they always ask again even after he has said it). follows syllabus so you always know where you are in the class. wonderful prof. knows his stuff. take him!

Smydra is a very good instructor. All work is reading. Has a very straight-forward and real world approach to his lecture style, but very funny. His tests can be a bear, usually anywhere from 17-20 pages. If you read, pay attention, and work hard, you can get an A. I will try to take every other business course with hi.

Better Than GOD! I am able to teach on the College level after his class, all of those who BitC_ _ about this guy need not register and should quit College. He tells you EXACTLY what to do and how to get an A. If you are up for a challenge then take his class. Deserves Pulitzer

I'm not sure I would say better than God. But pretty darn close. Exceptional individual, very intelligent, very humorous, and very student orientated. A wonderful successful man in the real world that has alot to offer those who are willing to listen. Very monotone and constantly repeats himself, but that is when you know something is important.

Mr Smydra was great! He has a great sense of humor and your not waiting until class to end. It's nice to be taught by an enteprenur too.

The best business teacher at Royal Oak, prob all of OCC. I learned so much more from him than Mrs. L. Extremely knowledgeable and experienced, which really shows. Genuine want for his students to learn and thrive. Tkae every class you can with him, especially intro to business. A solid foundation is the key.

Presents the material very well, but gives only a half-lecture (much of which is prolonged with repetitiveness) because he wants you to read the book. Very helpful and accommodating (can attend any section!) if approached. Weekly quiz. Up to 10% extra credit for attendance. Should be able to get AT LEAST a "C" if you attend class&pay attention.

I would take all business classes with Smydra!! Strict, but very knowledgeable and dedicated. One of the best instructors I've ever had!! You do take a quiz every week, but trust me, that is better than a ****ulative final!! It's much easier to study the information week to week. If you study hard you will get a good grade!!

Mr. Smydra was a very intellegent prof. He had a great understanding of Business Law & related it well in his teachings. He made the class very interesting but at the same time, his class was very challenging. I have since graduated & looking back, he was one of my favorite profs. I learned alot about Business Law & will remember his teachings.

Professor Smydra has accelarated my interest in Business law, I specifially registered for the second section of his class becuase he was teaching it. If you ever have the opportunity to meet this man you should consider yourself extremely lucky. He's intelegent down to earth and very easy to understand

I had him for bus law 1, Marketing and open and run a small bus. A wonderful teacher who can help you understand all the topics of his classes. He teaches in a way to relate the topics to your life. I would recommend him to everyone!

MOST OCC PROFESSORS ARE BASICIALLY GLORIFIED HIGH SCHOOL TEACHERS(WHICH MAY NOT BE ALL BAD BECAUSE MOST OCC STUDENTS ARE BASICIALLY HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS).hOWEVER, SMYDRA TEACHES AT THE LEVEL OF A TRUE UNIVERSITY PROFESSOR.HE CHALLENGES STUDENTS TO STRETCH AND GROW AND LEARN.

YOU DON'T FULLY REALIZE HOW GOOD SMYDRA IS UNTIL YOU LEAVE OCC AND START TAKING CLASSES AT ANOTHER UNIVERSITY.SMYDRA IS MUCH BETTER THAN MOST OTHER UNIVERSITY PROFESSORS.

He is a phenomenal teacher! I've taken him for 5 of his classes and have learned so much from this professor. He makes you work hard and he makes you think. By bringing his real world business experiences into the classroom he also helps you gain knowledge outside of the textbook. I highly recommend everyone to take his business courses!

Mr. Smydra is a very knowledgable professor. He really gets you thinking and wondering how the law functions. I learned alot in his classes. He's a great teacher. Make sure you do all the reading and remember what you read because the tests are based on the reading and concepts. I wouldn't mind taking him again.

I took BUS II online. There is a lot of reading. U have about 22 quizzes, w/25 multiple/true/false questions. You have 15 min, if u go over you fail. U must take every quiz! Make sure u read the chapters very thorough & read several times. I took BlawI @ the campus & lectures r very interesting & thought-provoking. BUT u must READ chapters!

I had the opportunity to take Mr. Smydra for more than one business course. Overall, the method he took in explaining the material was effective even though there was a whole lot of material involved. It's not very often where you get a C in a class but come out of it with one of the best experiences in a college setting you've ever had. This guy should be in a university teaching. The material is very "thick", but he explains it all very well. If you want an easy A, don't take this professor, but if you want to learn, sign up!

If you take his section, and you hear him repeating himself, it will be on the test. Excellent instructor!!

I thought he was an excellent teacher. One of the two teachers at OCC that I will always remember as being a great teacher. Those are hard to come by. I think his real life experiences enhance the class because he can relate to the material, just not teach it. I like the fact that every week there is a test.

The online law classes he teaches are awesome. You learn a chapter and you take the quiz. It's all at your own pace and you could finish the course in a few weeks if you wanted to. It's great!

The guy is amazing he makes the material clear, he is strict to help students gain a better work ethic and holds student accountible for themselfs. By far the best teacher at OCC wish I could take him for every class and become a Smydraholic(desicple). Rock and roll will never die!

He was a good teacher. Dry sense of humor but when you get that, he is really funny. We had a test every week which for me worked. He would lecture on the material, take a break, and then present the test. If you paid attention and did the basic reading, you will pass this class.

I think he is a great professor! If you have any questions, you can ask him and he will help you no matter what! Class prepares you for the real world. I would take him again!

Took him online: not too bad.. i would say great even... if you take the time to read the syllabus, you will do fine.. you can do the quizzes ahead of time too which is good. just read and you'll get an A or B

Attendance is mandatory and you must be on time. Otherwise read the book and study. The questions for the quizzes relate to the book. Also once in class don't leave until he gives you a break or he'll deduct points.

Great professor, uses lots of stories and examples to illustrate points. Does a lot of work from the book and is NOT an easy class by any means, but if you do the work you will get a good grade. Recommend HIGHLY!

He's a very strict guy, but if you listen, pay attention, and do the work, you will learn everything there is to know about business. If you can commit yourself, take this class no matter what your major is.

This guy is an awesome instructor. He comes across a bit intense at first which scared off a lot of students. You HAVE to go to each class and HAVE to be on time. He doesn't coddle and he doesn't care about excuses. He also happens to be hilarious and really explains the text in ways that are understandable, made me love Business Law!

I also took Mkt2520 online w/him.He is tough with the rules and doesn't care about excuses but he’s fair in grading. He's worth every minute you spent in class and I feel privileged to have had him as an instructor. I’m also going to take Bus.Law II with him. He’s very cool and funny too. Quiz every week on 2 chapters.If you read the chapters twice & actually comprehend what you are reading,you'll get A.If you don't like reading so much,take this class in person. Took me 2-3 hours to read a chapter,plus 1-2 hours to re-read,plus quiz time.Quiz questions were from book material.Zero surprises.You MUST understand what you are reading.

Prof. Smydra was who I tried to take all of my classes with. He was a campaign manager for someone who is still in congress after 20 years, and I was very lucky to be able to learn from him. He went above and beyond in offering to drive me out to Lansing to check out MSU because he had business there. A very good man.

Michael Smydra was a one of a kind instructor. He was truly like none other. I insured that I'd never, ever miss any class sessions! Mr.Symdra's lectures were awesome, immaculate, and of course, wildly entertaining!
