THE BEST LIT Teacher ive had! I took his class over the summer 1 and really enjoyed it! Just try to be as creative as you can with the writings and read! he's funny, interesting, and a good writer.

He is amazing. Really into what he does and keeps you hooked on the lectures. quizzes all every class but easy. had some essays but was not at a difficult level .

This class was pretty easy. You have quite a few reading assignments but most of them aren't very long at all. He gives a quiz for nearly all of his reading assignments and if you do the reading the quizzes are a breeze. He likes to have fun and joke around which makes the class a lot better. Definitely recommend taking his class.

Amazing teacher! He's one of the best teacher I ever had. Lots of reading and quizzes, but don't be afraid, if you read the assignment, you should do fine on the quiz. The toughest assignments for me was the writtings (I got B average for my writing), but still have an A in the class. One warning - This class is NOT for the lazy.

Mr. Sofranko is by far the coolest teacher at HCC. I took his ENGL 2328 and His creative Writing class and enjoyed both. Yes you have to read, yes you take a lot of quizzes. They're so ****ing easy it's not even funny. Just read. He's an amazing creative writing teacher, he really pulled my writing out of it's shell and I'm very proud of it now.

He is a very good teacher. i learned a lot in his class, and you will always get the grade you deserve. We didnt have a lot of homework in his class; all we had to do was reading, and he will give us a quiz, but the quizzes are very easy.....

A good Teacher, he knows his English. If you want to actually learn, and hone the Blade that is your knowledge of English Composition, This is the dude for you.

Don't take his class... He gave 3 out class essays and 2 inclass essays but count and some quizes, extra points. But he uses 2 inclass essays to grade only. It's not fair. He gave us too much essays and then just uses the in-class essay to grade but didn't tell us about that. Not to take his class if you want grade A.

Kind of boring but gives fair grades, easy A!

An amazing teacher!! He really helped me become a more accomplished writer, and also helped me with my terrible writer's block. I would have to say that his is the best teacher I have EVER had, hands down. He really helps you think outside of the box, and be more confident in your work! Wish I could take his class again!

Michael Sofranko is the only professor whose name I even remember because he left such an impression on me after taking Creative writing 1 and 2. I only regret not having our final meeting to discuss the future of my work. Highly encouraging. Very motivational man. I took his course over ten years ago, and feel the need to rate him today.

Prof. Sofranko is a wonderful teacher full of light and life. His lectures are enjoyable and helpful when it come to writing essays. The topics we read and wrote about hit homebase for me and others on a personal and emotional level. Because of this, I did not only grow as a writer, but as a person.I highly recommend him.

He is a great professor!Only downside is that if you turn in an assignment late,he WILL take off points each day it's late,instead of every class day it's late. One paper makes a big difference if it is late. My grade went from an A to a B. You will use the textbook the whole semester. Good thing, since you won't waste money on a book you won't use

Best teacher ever in HCC. His lecture is really interesting. He only require one book(the price is less than $10). He give you essays to do at home.

He is both a professor and a counselor, at least to me. Very good, overall. Friendly guy and funny at times. He requires us to buy "Super Sad True Love Story" book by Gary S., and he has 5 quizzes from it, divided by respective pages.

HIGHLY RECOMMEND!! Mr. Sofranko is an amazing professor! He has a way of teaching that really gets your engaged and motivated. He is very clear at explaining things. However, he is an English professor and grades you on how well you write. If you are not a great writer, I recommend taking him but also checking out the writing center.

Sofranko is amazing. I love this class and i find myself upset that i will not be able to take something else that he teaches. He's funny and a really awesome professor. Very clear on assignments. There ARE assignments though, so if your a lazy slacker trudging your way through life then don't take this class, obviously.

If you need a literature class look no further more this is the professor to take. You will need to buy the book from day 1 because there are reading assignments which you get quizzed on in class 10 questions really easy if you read. Also at the end there is 1200 word essay. Class discussions are always fun and you learn a lot.

Hands down the best professor that is at this location and most likely all other locations. Gives incredible feedback on papers, gives realistic assignments and deadlines while also providing you with all the material you need so no textbook is required. HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend. You will not be disappointed.

He has to easily be one of the best English professors out there. He also chooses a pretty cheap and interesting book to read. Make sure to pay attention to the reads and if you do that, you'll do fine on the quizzes. TAKE HIM!!!

Professor Sofranko is a published writer, which makes him more serious about the expectation of quality student work. His lectures are very interesting, funny, and I always left class learning something new. If you're not the best at writing, you might struggle in this class. Be prepared to read & write. Overall great profressor!

It was a great class, you will not get bored or fall asleep. He makes students engaged in fun conversations about the topic. If you can't afford the textbook that's ok because he chooses from the textbook the articles which are available online, he's a hard grader though. No chance for an extra credit, you get the average of papers grades thats it

I took him for creative writing, American Lit, and Composition II. I have improved a lot. We usually have one reading assignment for each class meeting, and we'll have a quiz on the reading. The quizzes are easy, and they are one of the major grades. He also offers a lot of extra credits. Be careful with grammar and length of papers when you write.

Super Chill and NICE. Quiz every class but are super easy if you do the readings. The readings are short. Good Grader

By tough grader I mean, if you want the A, you have to WORK for it. Sofranko is a great professor and his lectures are amazing! He does expect "a lot" from his students but that's only because he's been through so much with his writing. For the 1st essay theres a lot of reading from textbook.

Fun lectures, many short quizzes over readings, and two big essays which he gives really constructive feedback about. This allowed me to improve my grade from my first to my second essay. Two complaints. First, I'm not really sure if he taught us much or just graded our essays and lectured in front of us. Second, the final in class essay was tough.

Easy class. He has two big essays and an in-class essay that is basically the final exam. The word count may seem like a bit much but there isn't really much work he requires other than a few short quizzes that are easy if you do the readings. I would defintely take another one of his classes.

The BEST professor I have ever taken. Professor Sofranko genuinely cares about his students. He is very inspirational and gives really great lectures. He gives really helpful feedback on essays and gives many tips on how to ace his class. All the readings that he assigned to us had really meaningful messages. Definitely recommend taking him.

Mr. Sofranko is a professor bringing with life-experience and personally. These two traits come out durning his lectures with always make for an engaging class. You will sincerely learn things that will make you a better writer. He's a hard grader and it can sometimes be unclear what you need for an A on an essay, so always have you paper checked.

He asked me why I kept coming in late and when I told him I had two jobs, from then on he would wait about 15m to start attendance. He will make sure you will pass if you really want to pass. He gives out personal feedback from your essays if you genuinely want to improve. If I can in the future I will take his class again. The work is too easy.

I took Professor SoFranko for Creative Writing this semester. It has honestly been one of my favorite classes I've ever taken. Everything he says compliments what's going on in class. There are several assignments but I can honestly say I am a better writer after having him as a professor.

There will be lots of reading. Long papers due. But he is very helpful, if you don't want to put in the work then you won't pass. Useful information. Tells a lot of stories during class. First book quizzes are really easy. Would recommend.

Probably the easiest class I've ever taken. Grades are based on essays and quizzes. Essays can be tedious because of the word count, but you can knock each of them out in a few hours. Professor Sofranko responds to emails quickly. No complaints.

Professor Sofranko made me study as I was supposed to. Starting from the syllabus to the exams he has been very thorough of what is expected of you. There were quizzes, essays, discussions & research paper which are doable. You are in collage to STUDY so take it seriously. A lot of effort is put by the teachers for us to succeed, so take advantage.

I seen some bad reviews about mr. Sofranko which were not true in my case. He helped me out a lot and I loved coming to his class. It very fun and he is understandable. Would 100% recommend him.

Professor Sofranko gave the best lectures hands down. Everyone was afraid because of the ratings on here but was very vocal about how they were wrong towards the end of the semester. Others even decided to take his class for Engl 1302. I failed due to my own issues.

Professor Sofranko let's you know what you need to do to pass the class. He builds up the writing, from a simple paragraph Tina page etc. The most you will write is two-three pages max double spaced. There is a comment that says he grades like MIT, yes he grades like an English teacher. Take the class do your work and pass.

my professor helped me a lot not just with school but with my personal issues at home. He gave me a safe haven and made me feel really comfortable opening up to him and being able to just talk. He's helped me a lot with my essays and i'm truly grateful for his learning experience. in class discussions helped a lot as well and was very accessible.

He is understanding and will work with in during and outside of class. He breaks the assignments down into bite size pieces making the essays way easier to write. the essay topics are boring but that's just how English classes are. 10/10

I find his classes very entertaining, he is a teacher that you can see that he likes what he does and the way he gives the class, he is very expressive in each class and tries to make you understand how to do the essay.

He was a great profesor he tell US what book you will need. He also give you writing but he gives you some good feedback.

Sufficient amount of assignments but also allows for plenty of time to work in class. Lessons are also very in depth and you don't really become bored because he flows through the lessons keeping you engaged. All the material learned and discussed was broken down, helped a lot.

The textbook is all you will need to succeed as well to have an open mind to help you understand more then what you thought you knew. Gives clear feedback on everything you have to submit and helps you achieve a greater length in writing

Professor Sofranko is extremely easy to talk to. He was a *very* tough grader and only had a few assignments. If you prefer to have fewer essays but many graded rough drafts, this is your professor. Lectures were interesting but be prepared to read.

Professor Sofranko would go far to make sure we understood how to write the essays, and he explains things where it's easy to understand in an interesting way to keep our attention.

Almost finished with the semester, but wanted to say that I've been enjoying his class and I suggest that you definitely opt for the in-person class instead of the online class. Professor Sofranko is enthusiastic, a master orator and his lectures are very interesting and insightful. There are not too many teachers like that nowadays.

I didn't expect to see so many bad reviews about professor sofranko, but I took two classes From him and the in person one was by far wayyy better. I'll admit his online course is difficult since he never really interacts with students just assignments. You must already have a strong bases in writing if you want a good grade for his class.

I adore Sofranko, but he takes really long to grade. I appreciate the lengthy feedback which is amazing for self-improvement. I can't really see where to improve if he grades so late, especially for a fundamental class. I love his lectures and he's persevered through so much. He is a great and understanding professor, so as a person he's amazing.

Professor Sofranko is a great professor who was there for me when I went back to college. Without his class, I would not have been able to graduate from school and move outside of Houston to pursue my PhD. Thanks, Michael!
