Prof. Sokolow is by far the best history lecturer I've had so far...check out his pop culture class. He really opened up my eyes on how corporations market our own culture back to us by bombarding us with meaningless ad campaigns. He speaks the truth and has a wonderful sense of humor.Don't miss out on him, you will regret it.

His lessons are great, lectures are interesting, one of the best teachers I've ever had. His tests you barely have to study for, just pay attention to the lecture in class and review your notes. Very helpful, in and outside of the classroom, a teacher that actually puts students on the top of the priority list. Highly recommended.

I had Prof. Sokolow back in 1998 twice, and like most of the previous raters, I have nothing but great things to say about him. I was actually going to switch my major to History from English when I went for my BA, he made the history come alive. He is what a teacher is supposed to represent, and KCC is lucky to have him.

This is my second time of taking his class. He's a great professor, explain things clearly and give explain. His class is fun. If you take all the notes in the class, you don't need to read the text book, you should get an A if your notes is good and you can remember them, because his tests are base on all the things in had teach in the class.

Take this class!!! He is great. My thursdays consisted of me having to travel and hour and a half for one class and I wanted to. He makes the subjects interesting and he's really funny (although he needs to update his references past 1998). His work is challenging and yet he makes it very easy to pass.

I had this professor for Win 09 Semester and I am so happy that I took this class.His guidelines for the class are easy. As long as you study your notes and pay attention to what he says then you will be fine. I will tell you this be prepared to write essays, and when you do please make sure that you include your notes in your essays. TWO Thumbs up

as a returning adult student I can say that Dr. Sokolow is an amazing educator. I highly recommend him for History. He has the students interest at heart and his personality is wonderful as well. Why can't other professors posses the same quality? If they did Kingsborough would be such a more inviting milieux for all to come for an education.

3 Essay. He except late work & if u received a grade u didn't like on the essay u can re-do for better grading. He helps u pass. 2 open book pop quiz, so take notes & print power points. Studying is a must must must!!! He tries to make it as easy as possible but the midterm is what brought my grade down to a C-. Overall he's a funny guy but he is a tough grader. He says your dates can be a bit off by a year or so but that's not true. You need to know the exact dates for every ID. He's the perfect example of a college professor

honestly BEST PROFESSOR ever!! his lectures are so much fun and he can also be pretty funny, all you have to do is show up EVERY DAY pay attention and you will pass every quiz and exam, he's very specific with what he wants for his exams so if you payed attention you'll be fine

He's one of the best professors in college! First time I was interested in history. He's hilarious, very much into teaching. Gives you study sheets before every test and makes everything pretty clear. I would love to take his other classes. If you take him in fall-lots of Jewish holidays, which means-no classes :))

Makes the class entertaining but you still get a clear understanding of what you need to know. Be sure to take good notes because you midterm and final basically depend on it. other than that i highly recommend him for a person who is afraid to be bored to death with a history lecture.

Pop Culture class was very interesting. Professor is funny but clear on what you need to do to pass. Three quizzes, 1 midterm. You do have to study for this class, his review sheets are very helpful. Would take again.

First off Sokolow is a beast! Took his class a few semesters back and never wrote a review until now. Greatest professor easily. Funny, writes everything out, makes the class interesting. Especially women's history. His pop culture class has 50 cent in his lectures comeon pure gangsta. Take him before it's too late. You won't regret it.

He's very hyper and funny which sort of wakes you up in the morning. He goes over everything that's on the quizzes/tests. Very easygoing and the class is easy as long as you study! He writes everything on the board so as long as you take good notes, you'll be fine and the class will be easy for you!

Great Professor, clear understanding on what you need to do on the first day in order to get an A. 3 quizzes, 1 midterm and a final all based on the notes and powerpoints presented in class. No textbook needed. There are 2 homework assignments and a optional extra credit assignment. Easy A

He's a very entertaining prof. Mark my words you will not be bored in his class (at least in HIS2100) I took him for His 21(Pop Culture) and we had (2) 1 hour quizzes and a final and 2 hmwks (each one a short essay prompt) and optional extra credit. He writes the notes on the board in bullets.

Take this professor for pop culture and you will not regret it. He is entertaining but at the same time explains all of the material clearly. His midterm and finals is clear like water. He tells you exactly what will be on it. It's up to you to study the key terms. He gives a few key terms from the lecture. Then you choose 3 and explain them.

Words can't describe how great he is at teaching especially a subject like history. Great teacher and very wise. Don't be late or absent he really hates it but amazing lectures. Everything you need he writes and you just have to take good notes.

Hes an excellent & funny professor but hes a tough grader its hard for you to get a good grade in this class and expect a lot of work for each quizzes and for the midterm and the final . You have to write an essay for the midterm and the Final inside the class pulse 3 or 4 IDs .he gives the review sheets for each test but its a lot of work

He is a great professor. I took him in the winter and although 3 hour classes are a DRAG he made it fun for us and interesting most of the time. Before his class I preferred multiple choice test but his tests gave us better chances of getting partial credit. A lot of notes though.

Dr. Sokolow was in my opinion a good and funny teacher. He did have a lot of notes but he made the lesson interesting and he is very organized. He uses a lot of visual assessments using youtube that helped me a lot and made the lesson more interesting. I enjoyed his class.

SOkolow is a really good professer and has a Fun way of teaching. He does give a tremendous amount of notes tho and they are much needed to pass his quizzes and tests. If you plan on taking a history class I highly recommend him. His tests arent at all hard, However, be prepared to earn your grade and be prepared to take a lot of notes!

One of the best professors I've taken in Kingsborough. What I respect about him is that his grading criteria is extremely clear and reliable, you know exactly what you are getting into on the first day of class. He also makes the class extremely entertaining. You don't need a textbook for this class, just study and be sure to take notes.

Prof. Sokolow is great, professionally and personally. Comprehensive, fair, easy and engaging. Flexible and comfortable to be with. Clear and easy to understand lectures. Tough guy, really cares about you learning your history, which i did. No use of textbook. If you come everyday and take his notes, you will pass. Truly an honor to have had him.

Hes a great professor, knows how to make a class interesting and always makes jokes. Notes are heavy, but make sure you take them because they are needed for test and quizzes. His tests/quizzes arent hard just memorize your notes. Easy on the homework, only gave 2 assignments.

This was a really good class. you need to take a lot of notes but he makes the class really interesting and he explains the material in a way that makes it seem not confusing. He gives very little homework and not a ton of quizzes and tests and is an overall great professor.

This man is great! His jokes are funny. Hes very professional. However, be ready to write notes. Theres 3 quizzes but depending on your quiz grade, he will drop the lowest. 2 homeworks and the final. Utilize the EXTRA CREDIT. Usually his quizzes are writing based. I got a 91 on the final and passed the class with a B. Kinda tedious but worth it!

Professor Sokolow leads classes very interestingly, he is not at all bored. Gives a lot of extra loans. The tests are not complicated, but you need to read the material that he gives at PowerPoint and listen to his video. There is nothing superfluous in the tests. Kind, responsive, always in touch with students.

He is a wonderful teacher and with online learning provides recorded lessons with notes. He is very caring and wants all his students to participate and pass. He keeps the lessons lively, funny, entertaining and interesting. Popular culture was a great class and I would highly recommend the class and Professor Sokolow.

The pre-recorded lectures were actually interesting. He made it very easy to do the work, 4 quizzes, 4 discussion posts, and 3 essays. That's all there is to it. He accepts late work, is caring and understandable. Trust this man to help your GPA and give you a good experience.

HIS21 was the easiest class for me during my 2 years at kingsborough. The professor isn't too strict on deadlines. The homework assignments are extremely easy. Exams are based off the material on the lecture videos. The professor is very understanding and helps whenever needed. I highly recommend taking HIS21 with this professor. 10/10
