Okay... his class is easy. More people fail Worley than Squillacote -- his curve is NUTS... you can make in the 40s and 50s and still get a B easily. don't get discouraged by your 75's... the average is in the 30s or 40s, so you will make an A. Study, and his class is a breeze.

Squillacote is hard to understand and his lectures have little to no structure. He writes all of his notes on the chalkboard so if you're not sitting in the front of the classroom you pretty much have no idea what he is writing and it makes his lectures hard to follow. Tests are hard, he aims for a 50 average and gives no feedback on his tests.

I DREAD this class. SO FRUSTRATING. He grades on a bell curve so your grade is a competition & if you get a smart class, you're screwed. He doesn't use canvas and the grading is confusing. TESTS ARE HARD and only 7 questions. Take anyone else if you can, seriously. He aims for a 50 test average, but its usually lower. 0/10; would not recommend

Literally. If there is any advice I have to any person at Auburn University who takes chemistry, I suggest that you do not take Organic Chemistry 2 with Dr. S if you did not have him for OChem 1. I am a 4.0 student and I dread that class every single day and am struggling so much. Absolutely avoid.

Worst Teacher at Auburn. He is knowledgable about chemistry but rants about things of little to no relevance. He also rushes through the important material. He doesn't use canvas so it's anyones guess what your grade in the class is. Condescending at office hours . Also he Try's to make jokes in class but nobody laughs and it's awkward.

teaches what he thinks you should know, not by the book. sometimes info covered in lecture is not in the book. tests are mostly "explain why..." vs. straight forward mechanisms/reactions. difficult grader even though he grades based on a curve. he aims for 50 averages on his tests. reading the book is mandatory because he doesn't explain well.

Had him for 2070&2080. Made A's in both. It is possible to do well but EXTREMELY difficult. You're competing with the class because he grades off a curve. Study over a week in advance before each test, rewrite your notes, and READ THE BOOK! Pulls some test questions straight from the Wiley homework. Understand EVERYTHING in the book&notes.

By far the most challenging professors I have ever had. If you are pre-med, I would recommend taking him; his exams are harder than the MCAT & even include MCAT questions. Always go to class & write down everything he says, but use his notes as a guide to focus on in the book. READ the BOOK. Work on hw questions prior to him assigning them.

This is the hardest class I have ever taken. Making an A is possible, but the amount of effort you have to put in to receive it will literally drain you. ALWAYS do the homework and don't just look at the solution manual; he loves using questions from the homework on tests. Book can help a little but lecture notes are way more important.

He is very kind/brilliant person. His tests are 7-9 short answer questions. Every test gets rounded as a class. His Test Scale: Top 12.5%A/next 20%B/middle 35%C/next 20%D/bottom 12.5%F. I have had tests where 56%100% & some where 79%100%. You cannot make an A unless you test better than 87.5% of the class. Final exam is 15 short answer Q's.

Squillacote definitely knows what he talks about. During lecture he writes EVERYTHING, so its important to be able to read awful handwriting. Reading the book will be helpful, and don't miss class. Super lecture heavy. Tests are "designed to be hard" but are on a curve based on the class.

Dr. Squillacote's lectures can be very hard to follow because he dives right into the material and scribbles what he is talking about on the white boards. I would recommend writing everything you can down and read the book to make sense of everything after. Do all of the homework and make your lecture notes more in depth and you will be fine.

Worst teacher of my college experience. expects way too much of his students. Some people say that his difficulty helps you learn but I felt completely unprepared for Organic 2 because the things he requires you to know are too in depth and unnecessary. Every test average was around a 30. Guess its good he does a bell curve?
