tells u everything that will be on exam. great exams. very clear.

We read approximately one full-length book and four videos before each exam. You don't have to read much of the other books because his tests is mostly based on the lectures. Basically, if you study your notes, read the full-length book and know a bit about the videos, you are going to do fine.

great class! I was dreading this class but it turns out that there is a whole other world out there i did not know about. Steffy is a nice guy and has interesting stories. However you have to take excecllent notes because without good notes its impossible to do well.

THE CLASS WAS VERY FAIR AND HE IS OVER ALL A GOOD PROFESSOR. I DON'T KNOW IF IT WAS THE SUBJECT OR STEFFY THAT MADE ME SLEEP EVERYTIME I WENT TO CLASS. I GUESS OVERALL HE WAS OK

he was very easy! the only thing you really need to do is read the books. videos? i never watched them! study? never did! and i walked out of his class with an A- ;). i must admit though, he rants about bush way too much, but noone likes bush, so it's okay ^_^. all in all, take him! anyone could pass this class with flying colors!

I don't get why people say he's hard. Every test has like 10 extra credit points and the final has, I believe, 20 extra credit points. If you study, you will do well.

All you have to do to get a good grade on the class is basically read the books, that's what I did and got an A+ on every exam; besides he gives lots of x-tra credit; and the audiovisuals r sort of interesting. He does talk a lot about his personal life though.

CONS: lots of readings and videos; somewhat boring; talks too much about himself. PROS: really worth it cultural materialism analyses; do the readings, watch the videos, pay attention (he hints exam questions in class) and you'll get a good grade; gives extra points; pass the final,pass the class.

Great Prof - truly loves what he does. takes a great deal of material and tries to make you own it, not just record and repeat. Exams are relatively simple, but there is a lot of reading. Lectures are clear, but can suddenly slip into a Bush anti-war rally, its amusing none the less. If you are interested in anthro take this course.

Professor Steffy really loves his job and is a good guy. The class was ok but I hate the lectures. They were hard to understand and is very long. The best part of the class for me is the videos they are interesting.

Such a great professor. An inspiration to what I do now in life. I kid you not, if you sit on the front and have an open mind the guy can be funny. His videos can be boring though. He gives extra credit, not an easy grader but if you do the readings, COME to class and watch the videos, you will be fine!! Hey, I even took him for the 8am class.

This professor gives fun lectures but the test do not relate to the class! For this reason his exams are extremetly hard!!Also too much reading.

HE DOES GIVE A LOT OF READINGS AND YOU HAVE TO WATCH VIDEOS. HIS LECTURES ARE BORING. IF YOU SHOW UP TO CLASS, PARTICIPATE A LITTLE, AND SHOW HIM THAT YOU CARE YOU WILL PASS. OTHERWISE, NOT A BAD TEACHER

he is realyy nice .his quizzes are very easy.plus he gives 30 bonus points that helps u getting A grade.LISTEN TO HIM WHATEVER HE SAYS IN CLASS.

He is the most memorable of all my teachers. He cares in your performance in class, he allows makes ups and he is easy to approach. I took his class this pass summer, hardly studied and was absent a few times and got a B. He even wrote me a letter of recommedation. Those who do bad in his class should rethink their future in college!

If you just payed attention. You can get a easy A. Give yous plenty of opportunities to retake tests, which are seriously a joke. A real easy final project. The only way to fail his class is if your an idiot and can not understand the english language.

Attendance was not required (weekend class) but there was a test every Sunday on the previous chapter. Brags of being the only anthropologist with a PHD or something, IMHO he doesn't know how to teach. He said: "for a 3 credit class you have to study a minimum of 12hr" Many in the class did bad in the 1st ^2nd exams so they drop... avoid his class

he is pretty easy, if you are doing what you suppose to do. the stuff on the quizes are not really hard, if you read all the assignments and watch the AV programs. u just have to know the main concepts of the things u read and watch, he wont test u somthing that are specific

Great teacher offers plenty extra credits..as much as +20 points this semester.. He really wants his students to pass.

Dr. Steffy is a very very fair teacher, allot of extra points given, one can earn up to 30 points alloted to final grade. He is very very knowledgeable in all subjects and tries and teach all of his students to live not only a good life but a great life i really enjoyed his class, and learned how to live my life in a totally new and amazing way!

Amazing instructor and all around amazing person. He is an extremely fair grader and genuinely cares about each and every student.

the workload is a bit heavy, for an anthropology introductory course; but overall if you put the time and effort in it, you can't fail. In addition he gives you almost 40 extra points for watching 10 av movies and coming in on time to class for the last 6 days. In my opinion, if you fail this course that means you haven't put in the effort

This class is very demanding, you have to watch movies and do a lot of reading. The material itself is not that hard as long as you get all your work done and you pay attention in class. Towards the end of the semester he gives 5 points just for attendence!

At first it might seem a bit overwhelming, but he is truely a good teacher, and is very passionate about his work. He gives alot of extra credit, and it is highly possible to get at least a B in his course if not higher.

Great professor, very helpful and actually wants you to do good. Although u have to do work outside of class, its not hard. If you dont learn anything about anthro, you will learn alot about life. R.I.P Dr. Steffy

As a former alum of the Anthropology Department, I would like to offer my condolences for the loss of Dr. D. Michael Steffy. I have known him since 2003 and always kept in touch with him. He was a great person and really passionate about culture and anthropology. He was really knowledgable and had a great sense of humor. We will miss you! R.I.P.

Who ever believed he was a hard teacher, obviousley was not prepared for college in general. Professor Steffy actually opened up my eyes to question my surroundings. Yes you did have to work for an A, but with all the E/C he gave it was nearly impossible to get less then a B plus for the class. He will be missed, and his soul Rest in peace.

You have to work hard for your grade, but it is a nice class. if you do the extra credits, that should help you out a lot. He will be missed though.

Great teacher. Dr. Steffy was a humanitarian who cared about the poor and needy. He was very smart and dedicated his life not toward making money, but toward making the world a better place. In a world of arrogant professors he was the exact opposite. Truly a great guy.
